We had a lovely time on the terrace. The soup with croquettes and a toasted sandwich were delicious. For dessert, we had an orange cream puff and the service was exceptionally friendly. Highly recommended!

Nicest service, very hospitable. I had the best sandwich ever here today (with coarse mustard, tomato and onion). I recommend this opportunity to everyone, the bonus is also a beautiful view of the "long Jan" (when the terrace is open) Service was very friendly. I just ate the most wonderful toasted bread with all on it (dutch call it tosti) As a bonus a first row view on the "long John" tower. (if the terrace is opened)

Delicious sandwiches, excellent local wheat beer (wheat beer) and friendly service with a view of Lange Jan. And the fact that they offer 'food and drinks' and not 'food and drinks' justifies a mention.

Cute café, very friendly service, but unfortunately the food was disappointing. We ordered panini with chicken and had to look for the chicken with a magnifying glass. There was almost no meat on it. Tomatoes and cheese were present on the bread, which was toasted too hard. Too bad.

We had asked at the beginning if they had gluten free items and said yes. When we went to order, a panini could not be made and she had to opt for a sandwich. Later the staff came back and said that no sandwich could be made after all. Really bad service too because our table was not cleaned easily at all.

Tastefully decorated. Had lunch with 6 people. I didn't think my lunch dish of soup + bread with a croquette was good value for money. My fellow lunchers got three times as much soup, they only had soup with a loaf of bread I also got a sandwich with half a shrimp croquette for 6.50 more, where I didn't expect mustard but cocktail sauce or something and a very small amount of garnish. The food was really tasty. But I expected a fuller stomach for 14.50. The mint tea was delicious

A nice opportunity to stop for lunch. The tostis and panini were very tasty. The salad was fresh. And special requests due to allergies are no problem. The waitresses were all very friendly.

Very cozy cafe next to the church with great service. The 5 of us were immediately seated indoors and this wasn't a problem with a stroller. We only had a drink but the selection of food looked fresh. There are enough staff so you don't have to wait long. There is also a small children's corner where the little ones can paint and play. We can recommend it and would come here again, price performance is absolutely reasonable.

The soup was salty and cold. We were not allowed to pay in cash, even though money is legal tender. And we couldn't pay separately. Unfriendly approach. We don't go there anymore.

Due to the cold outside, we immediately went inside and had a great meal there, soup of the day (pepper-tomato soup) with a beef croquette and thick brown bread and a latte machiato. Service was super fast and very friendly.

Dirty small toilet where you spend 3 minutes fiddling with the toilet paper. Beer hit the glass dead, wine glass smelled a bit funky, but kids like the sandwich.

Absolutely cute shop far away from the tourist gastro on Rathausplatz. Run by two seasoned women, lovingly made heartfelt food is produced here. Everything on the menu is great. We had cake, coffee and poffertjes. The cake was actually a dream. One of those cakes where you could swim. Cheesecake, strawberry and white chocolate. If he had a girlfriend, I would have married him. Only recommended. The store was also child-friendly. A changing table could be found, as well as a children's corner with games and painting palettes. The restaurant was big enough to park a Kodner trolley at the table. If I'm in the area, I'd love to come back!!

Enough large parasols to shelter from the hot day But, Middelburg, had to be looked at. A very pleasant city with plenty of sights to see: a museum in the abbey church Beautiful old town hall. Picturesque streets with small houses with beautiful facades. Wonderfully rested at Lokaal 39

We visited the restaurant today to take a break. The staff were very nice and friendly. The menu is completely sufficient for a midday snack. We were able to sit there in peace with our dogs and watch the goings-on on the street. Points are deducted for the toilets. These are very narrow and yet a bit "unkempt".

We really had a good lunch at this restaurant. They made accommodations for me, to make the meal gluten free. My friends had good tostis. It is off of the main square and in a nice location.

Had lunch on Saturday at Lokaal 39 in Middelburg. The coffee was good. The lunch was disappointing, I didn't think it was worth the price.

Nice to relax after a day of shopping. Very nice waiter who has been criticized several times in public by a female colleague. It's really not possible! He was really good and hospitable in serving the customers. Hot chocolate that a female colleague had made was way too watery. In any case, the waiter is not to blame for the poor rating. He's great! Go and work somewhere else quickly, there is enough demand in the catering industry.

Nice meal. Extensive menu. The only downside is that when we were there there was a funeral. As a result, the church tower could be heard for more than half an hour, making it almost impossible to have a conversation.

Been here with a social deal voucher. Nicely decorated and can be attractive, but the heating was apparently already off and the service could be better. Curt, lecturing people and no small talk or anything. The snack board was ok, but with a lot of appetizers in proportion.

Local peculiarities You sit quietly and not in the crush of a large crowd. The dishes are cheap and show regional Dutch traits. The platter for two for €16 shows the simple but delicious dishes.

Unexpectedly we walked onto a nice terrace (opposite the ANWB). Cosy, relaxed, delicious food! An asset to Middelburg if you don't just come for the market.

The coffee on the terrace in the sunshine refreshes you after a sightseeing tour of the city. The cakes looked very tasty.

Fantastic service, it couldn't be better! Very friendly and honest. The drinks platter here is of very high quality, even if you order with a social deal voucher. Very tasty cheeses, pieces of sausage and various spreads. They even offered extra toast to use up the spreads. Furthermore, it is a wonderful initiative to use all local products. Even the delicious beers come from Zeeland. Are you in Middelburg? Then this is highly recommended to escape from the crowds and still stay in the center, with this beautiful location next to the Lange Jan!
