Food and service were outstanding, highly recommended

Overall was very disappointed with the experience we got 2 matcha one of them with syrup and the waiter got our order wrong. Secondly the matcha tasted with so much syrup it genuinely tasted like medicine. One of the matcha was with regular and the other one was with oat and he gave us both matcha with regular milk. The waiter was also quite rude when we corrected him on the order (he asked us about 5 times what the order was and we kept repeating it) and he still managed to mess up the order. Avoid this place because 2 Matchas and a water costed me 15 euros which was not worth it for matcha that wasn’t even whisked properly and was extremely clumpy. Was extremely disappointed with this experience and by far the worst matcha I’ve had in Amsterdam

I frequently go to this Locals location to grab a coffee or a matcha to go, and usually, the drinks are great and the barista is extremely friendly. Last Saturday, a different barista was working which provided horrible and extremely rude service. Firstly, she was extremely condescending towards my friend, who doesn’t speak English very well, and was speaking over her, while she was trying to order. The drink I got (iced matcha) was horrible — extremely milky and pale, it was unlike the matcha I usually get at this location. When I asked the barista to add a tiny dash of matcha to my drink, the barista refused to do so. Instead, I received a lecture about how everyone gets the same amount of matcha in their drinks (30 grams), that matcha is expensive, and I would have to pay for it. When I explained that the colour is off and this drink is generally not up to standard compared to the drinks I usually get at this location, she agreed, but added a snarky comment that “next time you have to pay.” She ended up adding a tiny drop that didn’t make much of a difference. When giving me back the drink, she almost threw it onto the counter and said “ok bye”. I was quite appalled by this service and by the lack of accountability from the barista when it came to amending (not even remaking) my drink. This experience definitely put me off from visiting this location again.

Great coffee, I ordered a Cortado it was quick and efficient like most this in Amsterdam and it tasted great.

I popped in for a quick strawberry matcha as I saw good reviews online and it was delicious. The barista was very friendly and prompt. I didn’t stick around but the vibes seemed great.

LOCALS Specialty Coffee is close to both the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, yet the area feels surprisingly calm without the usual tourist crowds (or maybe I just came too early? :lol:). I ordered a latte — the coffee was rich and bold, the milk wonderfully fragrant, really tasty! The interior is simple and modern with a bit of a hipster vibe. The only downside is that there aren’t any seats inside, just a small wooden ledge at the entrance.

This place is not only aesthetically nice but also great! It’s small but perfect for today and on a sunny day there is a bench outside 👌🏻.Their matcha mango is my favorite in town (and also decently priced compared to other places). Super friendly staff too!

It's OK to offer an expensive hand brew Geisha. I'm willing to pay for that because coffee is a hobby of mine. But there is no point to sell it and then butcher the coffee. It makes for unhappy customers and overwhelmed employees. I want to stress that I don't want the barista to get in trouble but believe this is more of a training and culture question.

Tiny coffee shop with great coffee! I hope they had more options for syrup but they had caramel available. I ordered caramel latte and it was so good! No seating.

Flat White as heavy as a liter of milk, did they really make it with two shots of espresso... Can't drink this, it used to be amazing

5.50 for a pour over is crazy. Other places in the city it is 6 euros or so. Batch brew was fine. Matcha also came from a bottle. Big disappointment

€4.80 for a watery americano is outrageous even by Amsterdam standards. Far more expensive than anywhere I’ve tried for standard tasting coffee

The Strawberry Matcha🍵 is really tasty but €6.75 is too expensive for it

Most capuchinos often taste the same, but here they make it in such a way that it distinguishes itself from other coffee shops. The ratio of creamy milk and coffee is simply great. And the employees are always friendly. I understand why it is a popular place

Overrated for what it is, long wait to get your food, super packed room with tables so you feel squeezed. Food lucks seasoning, the sharshouka tastes like a combination of preprepared items pizza sauce, feta, random chickpeas...it was not cooked enough in the pan, the sauce was watery... Fries also tasted like frozen one you get from jumbo... It lucks authenticity, it lucks taste, it's so stressful !

What an absolute legend of an shop. Highly recommend.

Good coffee but trying too hard to be “cool”

I had a flat white and a banana bread early morning and the coffee was one of the best prepared flat white I ever had. The latte art stayed until I finished the drink which is a sign of a well prepared drink. Highly recommended for a decent cup of coffee to fuel your body with energy and joy. The only drawback is that there no seat to take while having your coffee, even the bench seat outside will not be sufficient when the weather gets cold. They need to add heaters for that.

Super positive barista and good coffee

I expected a highly skilled barista after seeing the reviews but I was quite disappointed. If you don't know how to brew with a Kalitta, just use a conical brewer or a Switch. And who adds water to a pour over, seriously... It tasted like nothing. I threw it out after 2 sips. Also there was just one blend available, no other options and no single origin coffee. The profile of the coffee is also not written on the package. This is NOT a specialty coffee place. Don't spend €6 on a bad pourover.

Flat white is okay. Matcha Strawberry is great albeit too sweet for my taste. Perfect Coffee place in De Pijp for some much-needed caffeine on the go. Barista was nice and friendly so it was still a pleasant experience.

the barista/cashier did not acknowledge or greet me when i walked in, even after i said “how are you” - got completely ignored while he was staring down at his phone and was having another conversation with a lady off to the side. he barely spoke a word to me and then was super nicey nicey to the people behind me afterwards. also the matcha was made with syrup and tasted mostly like milk…..

Kind of disappointed after seeing such great reviews of this place - my cappuccino was extremely milky (I think the barista only included half of the shot for some reason). Also thought it was odd that the barista did a nice latte art on the cappuccino right before mine, then using the same steamed milk from the previous cappuccino just dumped the rest into my cup, didn’t even fill it to the top.

Locals coffee shop is my favorite coffee shop in Amsterdam. The welcome is great and the baristas are adorable and give very good advice. The coffee is delicious and quality, the oat milk latte is perfect. Little treats are great. We have to go.

(Sorry, I came just to buy 2 cinnamon rolls, you can continue chatting after I leave) I look at the 2 cinnamon rolls that the person is putting for me : One looks pretty raw another is TOTALLY RAW! HALLO! I have never bought anything from this place before and went there, hoping for cinnamon rolls. I asked him to give me less raw cinnamon rolls. ... Kind me I should have told him many bad words not buy anything just leave I was in a hurry and did not have time, could not find a solution Terrible place I want my money back for the raw dough Service? Arrogant Cinnamon roll? Worse in my life Coffee? I will never find out quality of their coffee, because I will NEVER COME BACK I HAVE MORE TO SAY, BUT I AM HOLDING MY SELF AND TRYING TO BE KIND PS.: After the comment of the business under my review I read the reviews of other people and comments And I put this place in my black list

Had my best coffee in Amsterdam here, and it’s located near the Albert Cuyp market. The flat white had all the nice chocolaty notes, coffee sweetness, fruity tarts all nicely wrapped with the milky emulsified magic. Very nice! I had to have a second soon after.. and had a decaf ice latte to accompany me through the market.

THE LOCALS takeaway coffee is wonderful. Super well-kept and beautiful interior design. The charming barista, very friendly and good vibes. Amazing coffee and chocolate/vanilla and jam cruffins. A perfect experience!

A nice and bustling coffee store for takeaways. The paper cup is well designed with their logo, and the coffee is good. The cup of flat white warmed me up in this cold, rainy weather. There was no seating available and the store was crowded with patrons waiting out for the rain.

Just very good coffee, nothing to complain about. The barista was acquaintances so it took quite a while before I could order something, he was busier talking to them than making our coffee. Then we left quickly, not a very nice atmosphere.

Had a poor experience. When a cafe just has one person working when it's busy, it's never going to be good! The barista was making multiple drinks at the same time and ended up boiling the milk for the coffee making it horrible, added the wrong milk for one of the drinks and let a pour over run for too long making it bitter! Won't be coming back here.

Stumbled upon this snug and charming coffee shop when I visited Amsterdam and was impressed with the vibe. Of course, I ordered a flat white. I’d love to come again to enjoy a filter coffee and spend more time.

I was looking for a V60 in amsterdam and had difficulty to find one. In this coffeeshop it is the perfect one! I liked it the most that i wanted to grab my 2nd cup but it was already late in time. Thank you to the pro-barista over there! & im never leaving amsterdam without coming back to you.

Coffee bar that worth to visit. I like the barista vibes and of course the coffee! Something that I never taste before. The place is quite small and for sure only for takeaway or just enjoy it outside the shop. The branding is very simple and powerful, just like the coffee itself.

Can’t start a day without a cup of freshly brewed double espresso from here. It makes my commute to the office so much happier. The barista starts preparing the coffee as soon as he find me across the street. I’m definitely going to miss this friendly coffee place.

Tried the strawberry matcha latte and it was so good. I felt like the barista was rushing me to order, now I wished I took my time to try their pastries. There were people at the cafe chatting about relationships and life and maybe the barista was rushing to continue talking to them. The barista seemed friendly but I wasn’t given the attention-I’m chatty usually but the people who were there were so loud that I couldn’t stay long and I left as soon as I got my order.
