Far too little staff; that was also the case in Laren, where my parents were that same afternoon. I found it really annoying to see that they had to do all that work with so few people.

We had a delicious meal at Loetje Breukelen! The food was very tasty and prepared well according to our wishes. Cozy atmosphere and friendly service. Definitely recommended, we would love to come back again!

Filthy place. Window sill hasn't been cleaned in ages?! The staff are chatting with each other non-stop and aren't paying attention at all. A large portion of salad on the bill instead of a normal one, and without asking what we wanted. The food has also gone downhill. It is inconsistent. A different lettuce one time, then a different bread the next. No more Loetje Breukelen for us.

The restaurant is tidy and clean. The staff is friendly. Unfortunately, the wait times are long, and the food wasn't particularly good. I had a tuna steak, which was overcooked and came without any side dishes, in an unidentifiable sauce. The steak was definitely not worth the €28. The location right on the street also detracts from the ambiance.

Very poor service. Several tables were free, but we were unkindly sent away to a small table. There was no willingness to help, and the staff member's attitude was anything but welcoming. We won't be returning.

Always a staple for us. Clean with a good ambiance and good service. Menu isn't super diverse but that's the point. They offer what they do best. In the summer you can choose to sit outside. I definitely would recommend it.

Ate 3 times. It is one of the few restaurant in Breukelen and one of the few in Holland that serve actual great food. Every dish was delicious, but from all i recommend the tenderloin and the tuna fillet. The order came fast, they had great service, clean bathrooms. Overall, this is a wonderful restaurant worth trying out, not once.

I have never eaten at Loetje before, but what a disappointment. The hamburger was a cheap-quality burger and the onion on it looked like snot. I wouldn't recommend the schnitzel to anyone either. Really disappointing for the price. The staff was very friendly and the interior is okay.

We had dinner last night with four of us. The food was delicious. We were served quickly and pleasantly by Jip and Onne, who cracked a joke now and then. I love that. Highly recommended.

After having already checked out the menu online and reserving the highly-rated special gravy. For starters, we both had the chicken with avocado. Fantastic, it looked delicious and tasted even better! Waiting expectantly for the main course; my wife had the steak with garlic gravy and I had the medium-sized Roode Waard steak, with fries and mushrooms ordered separately. We had to wait well over half an hour, but then it finally arrived 🎉 unfortunately, this was a huge disappointment. A plate of fries with the instruction that the mayo is underneath. Indeed, not in a bowl or anything, but just loose. So, first eating fries without mayo to get to it, and then fries completely covered in mayo because it had been thrown in; a shame. My medium steak turned out to consist of 2 small ones, but it was very tasty. The gravy... the famous gravy... my wife and I exchanged glances... how is your gravy? Just melted butter, greasy oil, no taste. The garlic gravy was the same, but with garlic mixed in, yet otherwise still just melted butter; so much for the "famous" gravy. The least impressive part for me was the chicken livers. Seriously, I poked them, but there was a hard crust on them. I could poke the other side, though; it was just burnt. I shouldn't have taken that last little piece; it was really just cabbage. We skipped dessert after that. We certainly won't be going back. It's a shame, because after reading so many good reviews and the fact that it was actually quite busy for a regular weekday, I suspect we were unlucky. I can't imagine it's always like this, because then there would be no one there. Maybe an inexperienced cook who forgot to keep an eye on the liver? But then just throw it away and start over. And what went wrong with that gravy? A waste, because the steak itself was fine and the starter too; it's the extras that go wrong.

Friendly, but expensive. 5.60 euros for a blonde, 8 euros for 6 (tasty) bitterballen... I'm going back to Spain soon.

Service 9/10, friendly, fast, and with the right hospitality. The ambiance is not what I would expect from Loetje (chic brown café living room vibe). The space feels Scandinavian/minimalist and a bit cool; fine in itself for a different concept, but not what you expect. Unfortunately, we had some bad luck with the table; the conservatory was leaking a bit (condensation?) and there were some ants on the table. Unfortunately, the cutlery was also sent back because it was still dirty (just like it comes out of the dishwasher at home). The food was tasty, but the starter arrived so quickly that you get the feeling it has been sitting in the fridge all day waiting for you. Once again, service was top-notch!

We only enjoyed a drink with a slice of apple pie, but it was a generous piece, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Moreover, the service was very friendly. If we weren't on our way back from our holiday destination and it were 2 hours from our home, we would certainly stop by regularly.

For Mother's Day, I was treated to lunch by our son! In one word: amazing! What a treat and so enjoyable! A huge compliment to Petula, for sure! She radiated something special. It turned out she was the manager. A solid 10 for her as manager at Loetje Breukelen. Apologies, the food was *delicious*! Thanks to her, we had a fantastic lunch. So, Petula is worth her weight in gold to Loetje; things have improved by leaps and bounds since her arrival! We all say this. We have decided to definitely come back more often. After all, before her time, it was really less than ideal and not worth the effort. Now that Petula is here, we love coming with more people! And certainly more often! A perfect 10! We don't say that easily! What an improvement! Once again, a solid 10 for Petula! A "rock-solid" manager! You get progress with fantastic staff, in this case with Petula. It is wonderful to be sitting at Loetje in Breukelen now, thanks to her! We almost forgot to say that it was delicious! See you soon with more people! Loetje Breukelen has finally improved so much, thanks to fantastic staff! And she really makes the difference! So management, give her a big pat on the back on our behalf! Thanks!

The steak was not good, still raw; we pointed this out but it was not resolved. It is a shame, as we have had good meals here in the past. We did get a response from the manager, but he also served the food raw and claimed it was medium rare, even though the steak hadn't even touched the pan. A weak response from a manager who refuses to confront the cook when he undercooked the steak. The steak was inedible for our group of 4 people.

I have never had such poor service. In 1.5 hours, I was not asked once if I wanted something to drink... my knife was extremely dirty. They had forgotten my food.

My husband and I had bought an Albert Heijn voucher for a two-course dinner at Loetje. We cycled from Duivendrecht to Breukelen, a journey of over an hour each way, because I had made the reservation there. Strangely enough, I could also reserve for the afternoon on the reservation site. So that is what I did. We walked in, and two ladies were standing at the bar, completely ignoring us. Eventually, the barmaid came over to us. She told us that it was only possible from 4:00 PM. The place was half full. So there was plenty of room. We were not allowed in. But in such an unfriendly manner. We explained that we didn't live nearby and asked if an exception could be made. The lady behind her laptop at the bar didn't care at all. Too bad for you. Very customer-unfriendly is our verdict, and totally unnecessary at a nearly empty place. A big fat zero for Loetje.

Called 5 weeks ago to ask if we could come with 4 on Saturday evening, no problem, had a delicious meal and drinks, perfect. However, called again last Saturday and were told we could come, except for the 7 o'clock time; we were seated in the annex, it was cold and drafty there. Then we received the steaks. They were too rare, they had barely touched the griddle or pan. Addressed this and received the answer that it is supposed to be like that, they always serve it like that. Whereas 3 weeks earlier we all received a fantastic piece of medium rare meat. The option was also not asked during the take-up. In the end, my wife didn't want to eat it, so we asked the wait staff; they took the steak away, and it eventually went back into the pan and was cooked correctly. The fact that when 4 people say it is too raw, and you subsequently get the answer that it is supposed to be like that, it is always served like that. I am not paying 200 euros to have to engage in a discussion, only to get the answer after 5 minutes: well, if you want, we'll cook it through a bit more. This gives me a bad impression and is not recommended. Maybe ask how you want your steak. And I've had Bali steak twice and got diarrhea from it both times. Yuck, that's bad.

Fine in itself, only the Bali steak was really way too salty, a shame, that wasn't worth the money. I found the service disorganized; they brought the wrong drinks and only cut the steak after insisting.

Tried one of those concept restaurants again after all, and regretted it immediately. 30 euros for 2 pieces (since when do 2 pieces count as 1?) in mediocre gravy and that's it. Sides at Swiss prices. Ordering dessert with coffee and only getting the dessert 15 minutes after the coffee?

Had a delicious meal at Loetje; this was our first experience with Loetje... but we will definitely be back. Delicious eel as a starter, followed by a classic steak with a gravy that provides a flavor explosion and delicious bread for dipping, and a crème brûlée for dessert... Always sooo delicious at Loetje. As usual, a very tasty, tender steak. And a nice salad on the side and a delicious finish, a crème brûlée waffle.

Already the fourth time I have sent my food back because it was getting cold.

We had a delicious meal. The only downside is that you can't get vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate ice cream with the chocolate trio dessert this time. It was possible twice before, and now the waitress says the chef doesn't want to do it. But I assume the ice creams (whatever flavor) are together, so it shouldn't be that difficult. And the price of vanilla and chocolate ice cream is the same. (I also have a restaurant.) So I don't know why it was possible the last time and not this time. Such a shame! I lost my phone, but unfortunately, I didn't realize it until I was already home. There was simply no way to speak to someone at the restaurant to ask if it was still there or if someone had found it. Only an AI Jaap who can't answer anything. At 8:45 PM, rush hour is often over in many restaurants. A single phone call can be reassuring for someone if they know for sure that, for example, a phone or a bag has been found. So it's really bad that you can't speak to someone properly.

Loetje is always good service and very decent food for your money. We experienced rtis Loetje as a bit clinical. Other Loetje restaurants have a better atmosphere (my opinion).

Unfortunately, we didn't find it satisfactory. The atmosphere is nice, but €30 for a medium (though tasty) vegetarian steak, and no salad or fries! A simple meal with two slices of white bread is fine and iconic Loetje, but not for this price. Definitely not worth repeating!

For Valentine's Day, I had made a reservation to dine at Loetje Breukelen with my girlfriend. Because we were a bit early, I walked over to a staff member to ask if that would be a problem. He mumbled that we were "too early and it was very busy," which was understandable. We were then shown to a small table near the bar, clearly a waiting area with uncomfortable chairs. It was presented as if we could wait there for a while and perhaps have a drink. A little later, however, we were simply given the menus, which made it seem as if this was indeed our table for the evening. I asked a friendly staff member if we would be eating there or if another table would become available. She indicated that this was our spot. After a quick visit to the restroom, I saw that there were still plenty of tables available upstairs and in another part of the restaurant—tables with more ambiance and considerably more comfortable seating. So I went back to the (presumably) manager to ask if another table would become available later, since we had made a reservation and our reserved time had already arrived. His response was rather arrogant and sniggering: "Where do you want to sit then? I've put you on this table now, haha." I explained that I assumed reservations would get you a regular table, not a spot in what felt like a waiting area next to a table with noisy children. The answer, however, remained that this was our only option. In the end, we tried to make the best of it. The food was fine, although it took quite a while—which I understand when it's busy. But the table was actually too small for the dishes, which barely fit. It felt more like a bar or drinks table than a proper dining space. What disappointed me most was the service and attitude. If it had been clearly communicated that we would have to wait a bit for a regular table, or if we had been told we could temporarily sit somewhere else and move later, it wouldn't have been a problem at all. We would have come back later if necessary. But now it felt like our reservation had little value. Unfortunately, this isn't the first unpleasant experience with this employee (it's the burly guy with his hair slicked back, a rather unkempt, arrogant guy, probably around 35, with blond hair). Which is why I'll be avoiding this location from now on. It's a shame, because at other Loetje locations, you always receive polite and hospitable service.

Pretty standard, but an ok piece of meat

I had a truly delicious Waardser beef steak with chicken livers. It came with a delicious gravy and two slices of white bread for dipping. Passion fruit bavarois for dessert. Large parking lot 50 meters away.

We had lunch at Loetje. I had the chicken Bali sandwich. The amount of chicken was very disappointing. I pointed this out and asked for extra sauce to give it some flavor. The sandwich is potentially delicious, but it's ridiculous to have the chicken "fly" through it. This was the recipe from the head office. Shame on them. My husband's soup was delicious. To compensate, I had a cup of coffee. We'll skip Loetje next time. Tip: Walk 100 meters further. There's a lovely traditional Dutch café in the shopping street. They serve a great lunch.

Never been to this branch before. We deliberately chose to have lunch on a Monday because we expected it to be quiet, which it was. Upon entering, we noticed the tables were quite close together. Not ideal. However, the conservatory is more spacious. Perfect. The lunch menu definitely has some good suggestions. The lunch we chose was delicious, and the bill was reasonable. I recommend going again.

The food was delicious, and the waitresses were incredibly friendly and helpful. That ultimately made the evening even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, our welcome was rather disappointing. We were greeted by an older woman, who we believe was even a manager, who immediately told us there were no more seats available. Even though we had clearly seen online that reservations were still possible, we went back inside with a reservation, but were told that another group had yet to arrive. We work in the hospitality industry ourselves and know how important a warm welcome is, and this is simply unacceptable. It's a shame, because with such excellent service and good food, the experience could have been much better.

I called to ask if I could pick up a carpaccio for my sister-in-law, who had just given birth, if I brought a plate myself. They didn't think about it at all, and nothing was possible. Very disappointing.

We had another delicious meal at Loetje last week. This time we were in Breukelen to attend a nearby event. After a warm welcome, we were given a table in the conservatory. The rooms were tastefully decorated. Because of Christmas, the division of the various areas within the restaurant itself may not seem logical, but they offer ample space for larger groups without being a nuisance if you're traveling with a smaller group. There were four of us, and the smaller groups are seated in the conservatory. Three of us went for the authentic Loetje steak, and the fourth ordered the chicken livers with fries and, of course, white bread to soak in the gravy. As expected, it was perfectly cooked and delicious. The tender, tender meat, and the fact that the fries are still fried, creates an authentic flavor and completes our feast. The chicken livers were more than ample and particularly delicious with the fried onions. The steaks are now available in small, medium (Loetje Classic), and large. Next time, I'll definitely go for the larger steak. I even had dessert. One from the Christmas menu, a snowball of ice cream with meringue, which was a delicious way to end my dinner. In short, I'm constantly amazed that I can't think of another restaurant that can guarantee its quality as well as Loetje. Wherever you go, you get exactly what you expect when you choose this chain's delicious steak. Always good for me...and definitely worth repeating.

It's a shame they didn't mention onion soup, and when I tried to order it, I couldn't. As a result, I didn't have a starter on Christmas Day, while my table companions did, which was a shame.

Dining out at Christmas should be an experience, but unfortunately, the restaurant lacked any Christmas atmosphere whatsoever. Two Santa hats on the table were fun for kids, but felt a bit cheap. The fries were served cold. The gravy quickly went cold, and the bread was stale. A gin and tonic tasted more like water because of the many ice cubes. The cheesecake was bland. Everything was served quickly, and you were out the door in no time. The service was friendly, but it didn't add anything to what should have been an experience. All in all, for €115, we definitely expected more.

Good food, but pricey. Service and atmosphere are subpar. The staff is friendly but rushed. Next time, I'd rather choose a smaller local restaurant; this feels more like a franchise. The price/quality/service ratio is out of whack.

We had to wait an incredibly long time for drinks, even though our food had already been served. There was only about 50 cm of space between our table and our neighbors', so we were right in the middle of their conversation, and vice versa. It was all very cramped together.

It was cozy, beautifully decorated, and the food was delicious... The only downside was that they didn't really like the way we were told we had to leave. It was a bit rude, and a real shame.

I usually have a steak Bali, but this time I had a meatball for lunch. It was dry and hard on the outside, and heavily seasoned. Not as good as the steak.

Last Thursday we ate at Loetje in Breukelen. The food was fine, but I find the way they treat the staff absurd. A young man who was trying so hard behind the bar was completely insulted by a gentleman, we think the manager. We found this so upsetting, especially since he was trying so hard! We hope something is done about this. We won't be coming to Breukelen again for someone who treats his staff like this.

+Cozy (Christmas) decor - Pricey concept befitting this presentation and quality - Asked for a medium-rare steak, but it was more than medium (not something you'd expect with this concept) - Too many different people serving at the table (it seems there's no neighborhood division) - Waitstaff not focusing much on drink sales - Waitstaff having conversations at the bar that you have to conduct behind the scenes (things that aren't going well that day). As a guest, I don't want to hear that. - No serving spoons with the salad and fries - Fries, salad, vegetables, everything comes at a premium on top of the already steep prices - They pour mayonnaise into the container first and then throw the fries on top (apparently a national Loetje concept, the waitstaff says). That really doesn't look good. Serve mayonnaise loose in a (disposable) container, then give the guest the choice of whether or not to add mayonnaise to their fries (and Loetje gravy). - Not enough bread with this amount of Loetje gravy (a classic). -We leave, and the table is immediately cleared (which feels like trying to quickly double up). Why aren't you so quick at the table the rest of the evening? Clear the table when the guest has (just) left.

Delicious food and fast and friendly service

Today, December 2nd, we had lunch with three people. One lunch dish, jackfruit rendang (vegetarian), tasted sour, too sour. After reporting this, we were told this was the way it was supposed to be. After reading the recipes, I didn't find it to be very sour. The staff, including the chef, said this was the way it was supposed to be. Several recipes indicate a sweet flavor with a refreshing lemon note. Wijkregen didn't offer any compensation. Unfortunately, it was a missed opportunity. We won't be back. It's a shame.

The menu exceeded my expectations, what a selection. Too bad they close at 9:30 PM.

I've eaten here before on my way to a concert in Amsterdam. I really enjoyed it, so I went again this time. Last time we sat downstairs, this time upstairs. I find the upstairs restaurant much less atmospheric and quite noisy. However, the service was excellent and friendly, and the food was delicious.

I always love it, but I'm also always flabbergasted when the bill arrives. It's an expensive place, but I still go there every now and then because I simply enjoy it. The atmosphere upstairs isn't great, and the chairs aren't particularly comfortable, but that shouldn't spoil the fun (completely). The staff is very friendly, the service is quick, and the steak was delicious again.

Messy place with quite unfriendly staff that was unbothered moving tables and chairs around without lifting them, creating lots of noise during our whole stay of 2.5 hrs. Predictable menu with classics, but no creativity nor delights. Parking around the corner.

After our day in Amsterdam, we decided to grab a bite to eat on the way home because of the traffic jam. We decided to eat at Loetje Breukelen. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere and the service was friendly and helpful. The food was served quickly, and the tenderloin steak we ordered was delicious! They even came with white bread to soak in the gravy. Delicious! The grilled vegetables were also delicious. For dessert, I had the dame blanche, and yes, that was delicious too. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

If you want a great steak this is the place to go. Never been disappointed.

From the moment we arrived, it took over an hour for our meal to be served. When ordering the tuna steak, we specified that it should be seared on all sides. The waitress explained that this was standard. It was then served medium rare. Three people ate the steak, which was excellent, and the fourth was able to start on the tuna after almost finishing it. We had a table upstairs, a dull space with uncomfortable wooden chairs. Other tables had their dishes served to the wrong people. In short, it was a mess. A disappointing experience.

The tuna steak was borderline tender, with bits of white membrane. The fries were tasty but significantly less than a while back.

The food is delicious. On August 17th we ate a lovely small salad, tonight on September 4th we had a different salad so it's not always the same, but the salad really deserves attention. The pieces were too big for the people, almost every loaf was a shame, now we ate mussels. Deliciously prepared, fries were also deliciously crispy. I've known Breukelen since I was a kid. Back then, we always got ice cream at the market square and there was nothing else to do. Loetje is a good reason to venture outside the well-known and charming square, although I've only had coffee there. The atmosphere is great, and people chat animatedly, which sounds nice. The staff are very friendly and attentive. And the cappuccino? Yes, three Michelin stars, of course! It's a lovely place.
