This is another place that was recommended to us by a friend. It’s a pretty nice coffee place to look at, but the coffee was cold. The atmosphere was nice, but the staff were not very interested in being there. We would have stayed longer and ordered food, but after we told the waiter that the coffee was cold and asked for a menu and go no more assistance, we decided to go somewhere else. It’s a shame really…we were looking forward to trying the food. We won’t be going back.

Me and my wife love this place very much!! The best coffee and amazing dishes. Today we ordered eggs Benedict, chicken sandwiches and breakfast bowl - delicious. If “Man met brill koffie” didn’t have Michelin star, they 100% deserve one. We visit this place frequently and recommend other people to try!

Went to this lovely boutique hotel with friends in order to explore Rotterdam and have the Man Met Bril hotel as base. Coffee there is insane. Brunch provides excellent classics and some with a twist as well (eggs benedict with bonito flakes, handmade 'broodje kipcorn'). Had some drinks at bar 13 which is next door and had real good vibes. Ideal to get your night started.

Probably the best coffee they sell in the city. We always buy from there. Food is also good.

Upon arrival, the gentleman told me to order at the table, even though their sign said to order at the counter. After waiting 10 minutes, no one had come to my table, although the people who came in behind me already had their coffees and croissants on the table. Not exactly friendly service, I'd say.

Coffee was greatt. Avocado toast however tasted not good. They add peas, watercress and balsamic to the toast, it was a weird combination. And it was also kinda expensive for what u get….

Delicious breakfast available all day!

A lovely coffee shop where you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and lunch. You might expect the coffee to be excellent from a coffee shop like this, but the dishes are also simply delicious. We had to wait a bit for a table, but were served promptly 👍

Great cappuccino and I loved my breakfast bowl, made with fresh fruit, granola and yummy yogurt! Nice atmosphere as well and the service was good.

Delicious food and friendly service

My partner and I came here almost every weekend to get their signature breakfast bun and coffee. BUT today might be our last day because they changed the menu and completely removed the breakfast bun, I’m heart broken 💔 We ordered pancakes and the avocado toast.

If you like a lot of flavors in the same plate, you’ll love it! The muhammara and the pancakes were great.

Super cosy place with very cool interior design. Great place to work with tables that have power outlets. Croissant not the greatest, but decent. Probably best filter coffee in town. If you're into third wave coffee, this is the place for you. I also had their chicken sandwich which was decent. Was very greasy, but if you're into that, it's great!

This is a very cool, very chill café with, unsurprisingly, brilliant coffee. The food was also amazing - we visited for breakfast and it was all delicious. It was comfortable for visiting with a young child, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great spot to check out if you need a place to relax in Rotterdam.

Love this place! I work here two mornings a week and really enjoy the vibe and friendly and helpful staff. Occasionally on weekends I bring the family as well. Great area for kids too! Always buy my coffee here for at home, just really enjoy the different roasts and nuanced flavors that I haven't found elsewhere.

I genuinely enjoy their coffee, and I have been coming here for over 7 years. However, today I was abruptly removed from my table by the staff so that a group of three could take it. That's a first for me. So, I quickly finished my coffee, packed my stuff, and moved. This way, I can no longer relax and enjoy my coffee, not knowing when they might want to move me. I am not sure if I want to return to Man met Bril.

Really good breakfast place. The filter coffee was hitting the right notes as described in the description given by side, particularly the strawberry and raspberry! The Brioche sandwich and avocado sandwiches were spot on as well 😋

If you're going to take a lifetime to come and take my order, don't tell me to sit and wait for you, darling. And don't even get me started on how long I had to wait for a damn coffee.

Cozy atmosphere and delicious coffee

It’s always a mix bag, but today we had a terrible experience. First the waiter was too busy to serve us because he was chatting with his friends for a long time, then we couldn’t order pancakes and as an alternative for a sweet breakfast we got offered açai bowl which tasted like warm, sour jam with an unripe mango. When we complained about it we only heard “sorryyyy”, but in every other place they would’ve crossed it from our bill if you say it’s inedible and leave basically the whole dish on a table… oh and the poached egg on the toast was completely hard boiled inside and the waiter was surprised that we asked for a runny one…

terribly rude staff got wrong food and drink and ridiculous prices

The place looks trendy and "hip," but unfortunately that's where the positives end. The food is overpriced and rather tasteless for what you pay. Staff seemed unorganized and not very capable, which made the whole experience even more disappointing. Definitely not worth it.

The breakfast deal for juice, croissant, yogurt, etc., was offered before 10:00 AM. I thought it was sold out, so I ordered something from the menu. The croissant is delicious. Large, crunchy, and flavorful, so definitely an upgrade from the previous croissants included in the deal. And the toast with egg, delicious and beautifully presented. They've definitely added some quality. Otherwise, it's relatively quieter than with the breakfast deal, but I think it's still better.

I love this place and will definitely come again. This time we order 2 breakfast bun with additional bacon, and it was delicious

We once again visited "Man Met Bril" – a coffee roastery we've loved for years and visit regularly. The coffee is and always will be fantastic – I drank four cappuccinos, which speaks volumes about the quality. The beans are roasted on-site, the aroma is incredible, and the preparation is always perfect. Breakfast is also always a highlight. This time we opted for the "Loaded Burrito" – a crispy baked flatbread with meat, vegetables, rice, cheese, and avocado, with a slightly spicy flavor – and a "Croque Monsieur" with Gruyère, ham, mustard, egg, and fresh salad. Both were delicious and generously portioned, although not exactly cheap (between €13 and €16), but absolutely worth the price. The atmosphere is relaxed yet creative – perfect for working on your laptop or simply strolling through the nearby neighborhood, which is home to many interesting little shops and studios. The seating is wonderful both inside and outside. It's one of those places where you're always happy that it's exactly as you remembered it – only with even better coffee.

Update: Unfortunately, the offer in question is no longer available! If you put it together today, you'll end up paying well over double or even triple the price. That's pretty steep. But despite the high prices, you have to keep in mind that the quality is truly outstanding. The 'before 10 a.m. offer' is highly recommended; the value for money is fantastic. Coffee, orange juice, jam, butter, a croissant, a little quinoa, and an avocado sandwich with a pouched egg for under 7 euros. Top quality and super delicious.

I come here regularly with my boyfriend, and we're always thrilled. The coffee is delicious, and the homemade lemonades are highly recommended. Especially the yuzu ice tea and the peach black tea soda—those are our favorites! The staff is always friendly and helpful, which makes the atmosphere even better. The food is also excellent: we often choose the savory French toast and the breakfast bun. The only minor issue is a leaking pipe (?) near the coffee bags, which is causing brown stains on the wall. Since this is something you immediately notice upon entering, it would simply improve the overall look if it were fixed.

We visited here to kill some time while stopping over in Rotterdam with our dog after reading reviews it was dog friendly, and they certainly were. Service was great and the coffee was so nice we bought a bag of coffee beans.

Very friendly and professional barista. I had two very different flat whites. The Hotel blend is their default blend and is more on the nutty and chocolatey side. The other blend (didn’t take a proper photo - my bad) was on the fruity side. Both great with my favourite mix of milk and espresso.

We've been here 2 times now and we experienced different situations. The food is alright, the only issue we've had is that the food was different the second time, the portion of fresh orange juice is so low compared to the quantity and quality that they serve. Unfortunately this was our last time visiting the location. The waiters are nice and patient, they serve tap water upon your arrival. I do recommend an original Dutch experience at this location.

Great coffee, but everything is simple

We had to wait for some 20 minutes to get a table, but once croque, French toast and cakes arrived, we figured out why this place is so popular. Great food, great coffee and really friendly staff.

Great coffee &croissant, only the service was a bit rude. We asked for some jam when the croissants came and the young guy said: did you order that? It’s very busy so I can’t get it for you now. 🧐 In the end we got it but we thought it was worth to mention this as a point of improvement 🥲

Cozy space – laptop-friendly and good for conversations. I had a decaf iced latte and it wasn’t great, but overall, it had a good vibe.

I used to love coming here, but the prices keep going up like crazy. I understand that there is some inflation, but I now pay almost double for lunch compared to a year ago. Otherwise great food (although a bit small portions), excellent coffee and very nice service.

I used to love coming here for the breakfast deal, but since that was taken off the menu, the menu has become a bit more of the same as in other (coffee) shops and I find it less worthwhile to go here.

I am amazed by the selection of coffee and the knowledge of the baristas. If you’re lucky and the shop is not busy (it usually is tho) you can really chat with the baristas about all the coffee they serve. Especially the barista named Sem is super helpful, thanks for helping me out! And tip: The pancakes are one of the best things I ate in rotterdam!

Very unfriendly service by a tall red-haired gentleman (probably a student with a part-time job). No greeting upon entering and after ordering my coffee-to-go, the gentleman remembered to first help other customers with coffee, pick up plates, walk around a bit while I was still waiting for my coffee. Even his colleague spoke to me to know if I had already been helped and after explicitly indicating that I was still waiting for my coffee, he eventually came over (very slowly) to indicate that he still had to prepare the coffee... pfff who hired this extremely passive, unfriendly and slow employee???? Disappointed. This was the last time. Rotterdam has enough good coffee bars with friendly staff to make me want to come back here.

I think its becoming quite obvious that this place has a management problem. Yes, they used to be good. Very good in fact. But now they have the 'golden triangle' problem which -if they choose to- they could get out of it quite easily but I dont think that will be the case (as customers still keep coming). The biggest problem (as many people have written here) is the service. I am not naive. I do not expect levels of service which you get in most countries outside of the Netherlands (including 'cold' Germany) but here it is on another level. The service is poor. Very poor. I dont expect smiles and hospitality (been in Holland too long for that) but the coldness COMBINED with the poor service (forgetting to bring items, billing the wrong table, general air of complacency, etc) just screams 'i dont care, this place fills up anyway' attitude (and if you see the crowd, it has become much less international, as these people have experienced what a cafe should be). Secondly, the food. Yes, the coffee is good. But the food has become EXTREMELY bland here. And that is sad. I dont want to be nasty but I have had airplane food which has more taste than the recent cooking going on here. Looking at the kitchemn, its all good vibes and giggles between the cooks but guys, how about giving things a taste before they go out? Finally, paying the bill. Every single customer (including myself) had to point where we sat, then it wasnt understood, then you have to repoint, etc. Solution? Just put a small number on the table, its not that hard. It might not 'look' classy but literally every cafe has it now to avoid this issue. All in all, long story short, do yourself the favor and accept that all great romances end one day and try to give other VERY, very good coffee places in Rotterdam a try and let this place be for what it has become...

The breakfast menu portions had already shrunk, but now the price has jumped from €6.66 to €9.99 (before 10:00 AM). A noticeable change (+50%!)

COLD in there! I had to eat with my coat on and I sat on my scarf because of the cold seat. Unfortunately, that means we will never come back. I thought the food was excellent.

We had a lovely experience here! It was such a nice touch to be served water right after settling at our table – a warm and thoughtful welcome. The indoor space was impressively large and modern, with plenty of greenery that added a refreshing vibe. The service was incredibly kind, and although it took a little time for our food to arrive, we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, so it wasn’t a big issue. The fresh orange juice was excellent, and the coffee was just as enjoyable. As for the food, the grilled cheese sandwich was fantastic! The only thing I’d change would be the side – while the chips seemed homemade, I would have preferred fries. We also tried the waffles, which were a bit of a mixed bag for us. The combination of salty and sugary flavors wasn’t quite what we expected, but the sauce was delicious. Overall, a great spot for a relaxed meal with friendly service and a modern ambiance. Would happily return! 🌿☕

We came in to see if there was still room to sit. As we walked past the bar, a young English-speaking woman grabbed my shoulder and pointed out in a very unfriendly manner that there was a queue and that another person was first. Very inappropriate to touch someone like that and almost reprimand them. A good start would have been a “hello”, but even that was not possible. So we went back outside very quickly.

I thought it was a joke for a moment, but the yogurt really comes in a bowl that doesn't fit my tea bag yet. This choice is called the best start of the day, I can tell you... I started my day better. The avocado on toast was poorly seasoned and tasted overripe and that lick of yogurt really goes nowhere. Oh! And before 10 hours you pay 10 euros for this choice and after 10 hours 15 euros.... I rest my case.

After having had a nice coffee from 'Man with glasses' a number of times in the catering industry, I went to the location in Rotterdam (Vijverhofstraat 70) for the first time yesterday to pick up coffee. The atmosphere inside is good, it is busy. You just can't see who is working and who is a guest, but you will find out soon enough. Now the reason for the very poor rating. I was very happy that they had Nespresso cups available. Unfortunately, the Lungo cups had run out for a while and the employee behind the counter had no idea when new ones would be available. That's fine in itself, but it gave me the feeling that this is a by-product. The choice then fell on espresso beans from Ethiopia. When I wanted to read about the flavors on the package, I saw that the shelf life was (at least until) September 2024. When I pointed this out to the employee, I was told that they would have to put a different sticker on it. This seems very strange to me. He indicated that they refill fresh ones weekly (why there was no Lungo...). Fortunately, there was also one that said at least best before December 1, 2025. So I took this with me. When I got home I was looking forward to the smell of coffee; nothing could be further from the truth. When I opened the bag I smelled mustiness. The taste of the espresso confirmed this. Very disappointing. Lesson for me: coffee in the catering industry of 'Man met Bril' was fine for the time being. The coffee bought separately is stale and tastes bad. Lesson for 'Man with Glasses': reporting that if something is out of date that you are going to grab a new bag/sticker is not acceptable. Addition: in response to an email sent and telephone calls made (no answer), I was called back. Apologies received. The money for the coffee has been refunded. Very neat, although I would have preferred nice coffee in cups.

The cheesecake brownie was delicious. The coffee had its own unique taste. I think it's our own mix of coffee beans. The place was quite full for a Saturday morning. I was very pleased with the price at checkout. Staff were very friendly. If I lived nearby I would probably go here sometimes.

It was very busy in the cafe, the atmosphere was bustling, fast and focused. Many students were working there and people were concentrated on their own things. I visited the cafe alone, but it still felt like I was there with the rest. In my experience the staff was polite and helpful, although somewhat distant/cold. After I placed my order they were quick to bring it. The food was average, dry and not very tasty. The coffee I ordered was tasty and well prepared, even with a card stating where the coffee came from. The presentation was good. I got the impression that the cafe was clean, and tables were cleaned immediately after use. In general, I think it's useful if you're in the area and want to have a coffee or study, but otherwise nothing special.

Came here 15 minutes after opening on a Saturday morning. Wasn't too busy but once we left it was quite busy. The menus are online on the website no physical copies. For drinks we ordered the Strawberry Special which is iced aerated Hermoso Ruby Americano, we also got the normal latte. Both drinks were really nice! If you are looking for more of a different style cofffee, go with the Strawberry Special, that tasted really nice. For food we shared the Cilbir which is Yogurt with two poached eggs, dill, chili oil and a pita to dip! This was really nice to try. Overall nice coffee and brunch spot. Also very simple menu which was great.

The coffee is great - really delicious and totally worth the money. I had the one pan feta spinach for lunch. It was fine - but the toast bit dry. Adding a little butter or oil would be an upgrade. :) Furthermore, super nice staff and a nice atmosphere

I had the early bird breakfast promo. It was an avocado toast with a poached egg, arugula and some veggies, a freshly baked croissant, butter and jam. It also had a chia pudding on the side plus orange juice and coffee. I went before 11 am to available of their promotion, the price goes up after 11 am to a few more euros. It was not only delicious,,but also it was so worth the cost and getting up early. My friend had the pancakes and they were very good too. The bacon was an addition and it was good because the sweet salty combination was perfect. The strawberry coffee special was something quite different. It wasn’t to my palate but I’m sure a lot of other people may like it. Service was amazing. Our server was so nice, it felt like we were talking to a friend in her home. Location was a bit far from our hotel but it was worth exploring the neighbourhood after, which is now a cool district, upcoming with all the artists and entrepreneurs. A bonus after getting a great breakfast is exploring a new area in Rotterdam.
