Maria's bar in Burgwallen-Nieuwe Zijde

We went for a comic, who was very good 👌🏼 and the receiving staff was super friendly, explaining that orders in the performance area worked with lights on the tables, turn to set a certain colour and the staff will come to take your order. Super! Only, we had huge public transport issues getting there, so came in close to starting time only to find that there was no more seats where the tables were. Luckily we could sit upstairs BUT there's no service there... understandable but a bit of a bummer. I know now to leave home even earlier to get in on time for the best seats. Something that we found very distracting is that all through the performance, that's was an intermittent very loud banging sound, I think a door that serving staff had to come through? Would be great if that could be muffled somehow. We got drinks after the performance and the cocktail I had (a whiskey sour), was made from scratch at the bar and absolutely delicious!!

The security guard at the door was incredibly rude to us. We were four women and one man, and we walked in with a cheerful vibe. The man gave us an attitude for no reason and left us standing outside in the wind without making any attempt to let us in. He was a truly rude guy. I've never experienced anything like this before.

I wish I could get zero stars. It says it is open on Sunday. We went all the way down to the bar and it wasn’t open.

Excellent shisha and bar. Their shisha is available in a small but good place for those who want to smoke shisha; it costs 30 euros… The downside is that smoking hashish is allowed inside.
