Always tasty, the sandwiches are great.

While eating is normally a pleasant, relaxed experience, this dinner was hard work and stressful. Besides the pain in my wallet, I also feel a cramp in my jaws. The chicken satay was dry; a challenge with a drop of peanut sauce? A schizophrenic contrast to the tjauw min, whose consistency reminded me of warm snot. That Warung Mini is a household name in Rotterdam is just as true as Deelder preferring to live in Amsterdam.

The food is good, but unfortunately, the service, and particularly the attitude of one of the staff members, was a major disappointment to me. There were three staff members present. One staff member was busy with receipts, moving around, and looking around, while another staff member was standing there talking at length with her boyfriend. The third one walked back and forth in and out of the kitchen; I won't go into detail about what she was doing. Meanwhile, multiple complaints came in from customers who had not yet received their ordered food, or had received it incorrectly. I stood there for so long!!!! I understand very well that it can be busy at such a moment and that I have to wait a little while. I have no problem with that. But at the very least, clarity and a normal, customer-friendly approach. When I spoke to the staff member in question, I was literally told something along the lines of: "I am still busy!" in an irritated and rude tone. I found the way this was said absolutely unacceptable. When I commented on this, I was subsequently told that she simply always talks like that. I don't consider that an excuse. A customer should not be spoken to like that, no matter how busy it is. She then even dared to say, "You're really hungry, aren't you!" Just as if I had played marbles with her. She could have been my granddaughter if she had any manners. I have truly never had such an experience and am therefore very disappointed. It was the last time for me; too bad.

Wow this place was soo yummy!! I told Tatiana it was my first time to try Surinamese food and she offered to curate a surprise order of different things for me to try! It was really nice because I had no idea what to order lol. The service was excellent and the food matched:) I LOVED the soup and the peanut sauce on the chicken. Everything we ordered was great. I would definitely come back again!!

The staff is really nice, the sausage is tasty, and the sauto is truly the best in Rotterdam. I find the fajung in the nasi moksi a bit less appealing, but that doesn't make the whole experience mean the food as a whole isn't good. It is a bit inconvenient, though, that you can only get the meat sausage for takeout and not at the restaurant.

It is always pleasantly busy here. That is not surprising, because the food is fantastic and reasonably priced.

To be honest, I am shocked by the 1-star reviews; it was incredibly delicious! The food had so much flavor! The atmosphere was really cozy and we received good service.

After reading that this was supposed to be the best in Rotterdam, we decided to give it a try. It was well-attended, but it was still a bit disappointing. We had the Rames platter so we could sample a bit of everything; the satay was certainly tasty, but the accompanying beef consisted of really hard, tough, dry blocks—which was a real shame. Furthermore, we had a nasi with roasted chicken, but it was more like fried. The long beans were also missing, and we had to repeat this several times. The bami looks more like spaghetti to me. The staff were otherwise friendly, but the price-quality ratio was slightly out of proportion.

My friend and I had dinner, we ate something like Goreng Rames, and it was awful. It's probably the least palatable cuisine for Turkish palates. They served chicken skewers with a sauce that looked like a mixture of tahini, molasses, and chocolate sauce. It's impossible to eat even for someone who's not picky about food. Go only if you have a strong stomach.

Although I rarely eat Surinamese food out, because I make everything myself, Warung Mini is a good one. The chicken curry and bakeljauw sandwiches are tasty, and I also really enjoyed the saoto. And that chili makes all the difference. I cannot judge the other dishes, as I haven't tasted them yet. Friendly staff and top-notch service!

Best exotic food I had I Rotterdam

They have raised their prices and lowered their quality severely. The roasted chicken and rice is very dry. Had to drown it in sambal. The dawet was very disappointing and tasted spoiled. Cherry on top is that it was boiling hot inside and they didn’t turn on the ac.

Is this the best warung in Rotterdam??? YES. They also have chicken sausage and spring rolls. This was truly Surinamese, no joke, highly recommended, gets a 9. The menu was also decent, however, an aftertaste of vegetables in it, very strange but also good, score 8. Definitely recommended to eat here. Real Surinamese warung TOP.

After my successful review from 3 years ago, I have to say that it has gotten much worse now. Nasi is too expensive for the quality you get. One employee, a Dutch lady, radiates a lot of grumpiness. She makes a mistake by bringing 2 Sautos instead of 1. That can happen, of course, but she then angrily says, "You know what you ordered, right?" and doesn't admit her mistake even after being corrected by her own cashier. And then refuses to apologize. So, after years of Warung Mini, we won't be coming back here.

My chow mein tasted reheated and dry, not recommended. The chicken alone was tasty though.

It's really weird that you open at 10 PM but chase people off the terrace before 8:30 PM or say you can't sit anywhere anymore because you want to clean up. Then don't indicate that your place is open until 10 PM. Closing the terrace and seating 30 minutes in advance is understandable, but more than 90 minutes is totally unfriendly to customers. People are still eating inside and chairs are demonstratively thrown onto the tables. And that girl in white behind the counter is completely unfit to work there. Super rude too! Haven't been in years and I'm never coming back!

Very disappointing... I got takeout here. The meat in the moksie was completely black and dried out. Because of this, I couldn't even tell the difference between the cha siu and the bacon. The noodles were very soft from being cooked for too long. A shame, I had expected more.

Ive seen much reviews and pretty highly ranked. Which is who i choose to eat here. It has a nice and cozy environment inside. The food comes out very fast. Server was nice. However my problem lied with the food itself while it wasn’t bad it was sure not deserving a 4,2/5 rating that it has. Most of the flavors were bland, the nasi rice was a bit overcooked and wasn’t impressive. The pork meat was very hard and chuwy. Not impressed but not terrible aswell

I have been coming all the way from Belgium to Waring Mini for at least 10 years and consider them the best Surinamese restaurant I have ever been to. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience today. I had a veggie roti and the portion was extremely small in relation to the price. Hardly any long beans and the container was barely a third full. I am absolutely not used to this, because previously I could eat for two days. Really disappointing.

Absolutely no atmosphere. And the staff was not polite. It was my first time and also my last. Satays are fried, not grilled. I suspect the spring rolls were fried multiple times because they were rock hard and very brown.

I ordered moksi meti, €17 to eat at home. I have never eaten anything so disgusting. The meat looked old: 2 pieces of fachong and 1 piece of bacon, 3 pieces of chicken. It was all floating in the gravy, with vegetables. The rice was in a separate container. I ate half of it and put the rest in the organic bin. Once and never again.

I loved the fish and beans plate! Employees were helpful in educating me on the dishes so I could make a choice I enjoyed.

They forgot the sambal and the cucumbers were replaced by pickles. Too bad.

Very poor value for money! The nasi moksi meti was tasteless, overheated, and clearly reheated for too long. The moksi meti was bone dry, impossible to chew, and lacked fashong. The hot plate made the whole thing even worse. For €20 per portion, this is absolutely unacceptable. Not recommended!

For the best Surinamese food, go to Warung mini Rotterdam. Delicious and also a wide vegetarian selection.

We had another delicious meal today, as always. The chicken curry here is criminally tasty… But what I appreciated a bit less today was that the waiter just took our drinks away without asking if we were finished (there was still water in them...). Could you please keep an eye on that 🙃🙃

The worst Surinamese food i’ve ever tasted. The rice was too dry, the meat tasted really bad. The place was clean.

We are really enjoying ourselves here!! We have been coming for the saoto for years, but everything on the menu so far is delicious. It takes you back to Suriname for a moment.

I thought it was weird that you can eat at a table inside until 9 pm. That they put chairs on the tables as early as half past eight and then say takeaway only!! Very weird. We probably want to go home early.

Poor service, screaming children, and mediocre food. They absolutely do not live up to their reputation.

The service, the food, and the atmosphere have deteriorated enormously compared to a year ago. I come all the way from Belgium to Rotterdam specifically for Surinamese food, but it is absolutely not worth it anymore. Bad service, unfriendly staff, burnt food. The taste was disappointing and the chicken was dry and tough. The price-quality ratio is also completely off now. I will never come back here and I do not recommend it to anyone.

A disappointing experience. When we took a table we were ignored by staff, no menu or introductions. We examined the menu on our phones instead, and owner came over and said we should order instead of scrolling on our phones. Takenaback as this was the first time any of the staff had acknowledged us, we said we were looking at the menu and he said go look at them inside. When my partner went inside to do his order (there is no table service), the owner came back to me and said the were closing and we had to leave. This was at 21:00, but the restaurant is listed as staying open until 22:00. Would much more recommend the shawarma place opposite Waring Mini, which is where we ended up and got excellent customer service and food.

Very disappointing experience. I ordered the gado gado chicken satay, but it seemed as if the dish had simply been reheated in the microwave. I received one small chicken skewer with three pieces of chicken fillet that were extremely tough and barely edible. The prawn crackers were also tough!! When I pointed out that I only received one small chicken skewer with a chicken dish served with rice, I was told that I should have ordered extra chicken. This was not mentioned anywhere on the menu, and it seems obvious to me that a main course should contain enough chicken for one person. Poor quality and service. Absolutely not recommended.

Not very good. They say they are open until 22:00, but if you want to sit down for some food at 21:00, they tell you take away only. Only after you have ordered do they tell you this. Also prices are not particularly good value either. I know Rotterdam is expensive, but the quality was nothing memorable. I can say that I have eaten Indonesian food now. First and last time.

I can hardly put into words how bad Warung Mini has become. The saoto soup looked more like water with a Maggi cube, and I won't even start on the chicken. Surely we can't keep downplaying this? Today, after a long time, I ordered saoto soup with bara and telo again, but it was truly inedible. The bara and telo were rock hard, like I was chewing on stones. And that tasteless, watery saoto… it really keeps bothering me. 😤🍲

They put so much samba in your sandwich that it's inedible. I was a customer for a long time, but today the sandwich was inedible. They didn't refund me either.

Food was okay, but service needs improvement. On my first visit, the restaurant was packed and there was no system for seating, people who came later simply took tables ahead of us. The second time was on a weekday and much quieter. I tried ordering via the QR code, but the website was difficult to use, so I ordered at the counter. When the food arrived, I was asked if that was everything I ordered. Since it was my first time trying Surinamese food, I wasn’t sure. The staff response came across as quite rude, which made the experience unpleasant. It would have been helpful if the dishes were briefly introduced when served.

I don't often say that food is gross, but this really made me nauseous. I had a chicken curry sandwich, but the chicken looked like boiled chicken: very juicy and watery, which made the bun soggy and wet too. The bara didn't taste fresh at all; it seemed like it was already old and had been reheated, for example in a toaster. The shrimp inside were dry and had a nasty taste. Moreover, I even got an unpeeled shrimp in my mouth. This really made me nauseous.

We had ordered trie with a telo; it tasted good, but half of my wife's container was filled with ginger. We returned it to the kitchen, but we didn't receive a new container of trie, which we had paid for. I had also ordered a chicken liver sandwich; it had absolutely no taste and the pieces of liver were way too big, so I didn't eat that one either.

All the food was surprisingly good and the price is OK.

First time trying surinamese and this left a really good impression! For the price, the portion is very generous. I ordered the Pom Kipfilet with roti and the plate was FULL. My friend ordered the Moksi Meti with white rice, and the bowl rice was exceptionally big too. I honestly would think a portion could be shared between two people/servings so it’s super worth it (both are for €17)

You get great quality and quantity at a very good price. We ordered fried yucca, plantain chips, fried plantains, chicken soup, kebabs, and a mixed platter with tempeh, vegetables, and chicken. The peanut sauce is special, absolutely delicious. Surinamese food. I highly recommend it.

Very disappointing experience. We waited for a table for over 10 minutes but received absolutely no assistance. Eventually, another group was let in, even though they arrived later. As an explanation, we were told in a rather arrogant tone that they had “already ordered.” The employee with blonde curly hair did not attempt to help us or offer a solution at any point. Instead, she repeated the same remark several times and then simply walked away, without any further explanation or service. This kind of attitude and lack of customer friendliness is truly unacceptable. We felt completely disregarded. Unfortunately, not a pleasant experience and certainly not one we would repeat.

I found Warung Mini to be quite an experience. Many Surinamese people came to eat there, which is a good sign. I had a Surinamese beef sandwich and my dining companion had Saoto soup with chicken. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The toilets were clean. I would love to come back here again!

A household name in Rotterdam for years, fresh and flavorful, but not anymore. Picked up food today, and when I got home, I found the portions had been halved and were tasteless.

We tried a few different dishes and shared them between three people. The total bill was €39, which felt quite affordable. You can think of it as a casual, almost fast-food style place serving Surinamese dishes. Interesting to try and a nice change of flavors, but not life-changing.

The food is always good, and the staff is busy but helpful. You have to be patient until a table opens up. What we often do, if possible, is share a table with others. It often leads to the most enjoyable conversations.

Great again, but I don't like the ordering columns and QR codes.

I ordered nasi chicken, and they introduced a special nasi chicken dish for an extra €3.50. The nasi was also inedible. The sandwiches were tasty, though.

I’ve been coming here for several years and it was always a great combination of delicious (vegetarian) dishes and a lively, homey, neighbourhood atmosphere, where people of all kind of backgrounds would come to eat. Unfortunately, since the transformation of the restaurant (including screens, QR code menues, no possibility to order at the counter unless it’s takeout) the atmosphere has changed drastically which is very sad. I don’t want to sound nostalgic, but especially in times where everything is designed for efficiency and digital comfort a place such as Warung was a bit like an extension of the living room, a bit chaotic yet cozy. I will still be coming here because of the food and staff but it’s a shame that the management decided to go for the efficiency path while throwing character and uniqueness overboard.

Wow, that's terrible. I regularly eat roti at various places in the Netherlands, but this was by far the worst. Dry meat, little flavor. We had four different dishes, all of which were truly subpar. Only the bara was good.

We wanted to pick up our takeout from Warung Mini today and were standing at the checkout. But the white woman behind the counter wouldn't help us. She told us to go three doors down. Even though I regularly pick up takeout there. Terrible service! We ended up getting a sandwich at Sranang, which was much better! At least you get help.

The quality of Mini53's food varies. Often it's absolutely excellent, but unfortunately, sometimes it's also terrible.

I loved this place! The peanutsauce was to die for. We sat outside and it was lovely. All the food was amazing. The bread was outstanding.

I came here on a whim and got the saoto soup an fried plantain. It was so delicious! The broth was perfectly seasoned and the yellow salsa added a great spicy kick. Super yummy 😍

Super friendly staff, delicious food. After 9 pm, takeout only. Please mention this on the website. I wasn't in the restaurant myself, but I found it unprofessional of the staff to start cleaning up while people were still eating. They're moving chairs around and constantly checking to see if you've finished your meal. This makes guests feel rushed. You close at 10 pm. Once everyone has left, you start cleaning up. Just a tip, and my opinion.

Go for it without hesitation! A must-try in Rotterdam! I've been having lunch at Warung Mini for over 15 years and I never get tired of it. Whether it's their Saoto soup, their Rôtie, their Baras, or their famous sandwiches (Broodjes), the quality and flavors of Suriname are always there. It's consistently generous, and the welcome is always incredibly warm. If you want to experience the soul of the city, this is definitely the place to go... Enjoy your meal!

We're vegetarians and ordered the Veggie Roti. It was really delicious, and luckily we didn't have to wait, although it was quite busy. The only thing they could improve is the bathroom hygiene, as it was rather dirty, but everything else was amazing. The staff were very helpful too!

The food and apple were cold. After ordering, they heated the satay in the microwave, which made the satay sauce hard and dry. Apparently, they don't sell pork on the menu anymore. Why is it still on the menu? Chairs were pushed back on the table while you were eating, a sign that you should get lost! Such a shame. This used to be a good place! Souto chicken soup was nowhere to be found! Waste of our money. P.S. After complaining that the noodles were cold, we did get a new one to take home because we asked for it. Not nice!

The food has deteriorated significantly. I had chicken noodles and my cousin had saute soup. It was absolutely inedible. We didn't enjoy it at all; the chicken was so tough it had lost its quality. I'll never go back.

I've been a customer at Mini Rotterdam for years and loved coming. When I recently walked in after the reopening, I immediately sensed a negative atmosphere. At the checkout, I was suddenly told there was no more PORK on the menu. That was a shock, because I always order rice and bacon. I understand that changes are sometimes necessary, but not every change is appreciated by customers. I even saw another customer leave because they couldn't get what they always ordered from you. It's a shame that this disappoints regular customers. Unfortunately, I'll be getting my Surinamese meal elsewhere from now on. P.S. I'll miss the lovely staff.

Ik kom hier regelmatig een saoto soep eten en het is gewoon goed veel kip en groenten met een heerlijke bouillon een kommetje rijst met 2 soorten sambal en dat voor een schappelijke prijs euro 6,50 vertel mij maar waar in Rotterdam ik voor dit geld kan lunchen. De jongens achter de balie zijn zeer klantvriendelijk en beleefd. Voor mij een prima restaurant op een top locatie
