Monterosso in Wijk 01 Centrum Zeist

After reading the reviews, we made a reservation for a Tuesday after all. Because, as you can read, when it's busy, the wait is long. So there we were at 6:00 PM, sitting in the garden with our two children. A quick glance around made it clear that few people were eating yet. Our first drinks were taken quickly, and the bread basket arrived within 15 minutes as well. When we ordered the main course—pizzas—after half an hour, the long wait began. Several tables around us were being served their food, so after an hour you do start to take into account that it might arrive any minute. After ordering the third drink, the food was still nowhere in sight, and by then it was half past seven. When the food FINALLY arrived at a quarter to eight, there were three main courses... no one noticed that we were missing one, and at first you think they just need to get the pizza from the kitchen. But nothing of the sort; when we pointed this out to the wait staff 5 minutes later, an investigation was launched. Something had gone wrong; the pizza will be here in 5 minutes! "...or so it was said. This took longer too. When the others had finished, the long-awaited pizza finally arrived. 2 hours after we arrived. By then, we didn't feel like having dessert anymore. When paying, we pointed out that the wait time for pizza was particularly long, which is why the owner proceeded to explain to us that the kitchen always has only 1 staff member on Tuesdays. (As if a guest visiting for the first time could know that.) Furthermore, no apologies; after all, it was our own fault. We won't be going here again and we won't be ordering pizzas for delivery either. There is no question of customer focus, only revenue focus. We left the place 130 euros poorer and in a bad mood. If you can't serve food to 30 tables and deliver pizzas on top of that, you need to adjust the capacity accordingly, add an extra kitchen staff member, or simply refuse the reservation. Acting as if you, as the owner, are the victim of a bizarre series of circumstances that has existed for years after reading all the reviews, is not pretty. It's a shame, the pizzas were genuinely tasty, but everything surrounding it makes it an unpleasant experience.

The food was delicious, but the wait was ridiculous. After an hour and a half it finally arrived, and they had forgotten my daughter's pizza... the serving staff were friendly, the owner not really. No apologies or discount.

We looked for the best pizzeria in Zeist and it certainly lives up to expectations. They have pizzas on the menu that you won't find anywhere else and super fast and friendly service, even though we hadn't reserved in advance. We were served well and the food was delicious!!

The food is delicious, I can't say that, but when it comes to the delivery... TERRIBLY BAD! I order here often, and it's because I like it so much, but it happens regularly that I have to wait a long, very long time for the delivery, and tonight was no exception! I literally had to wait 2 hours and 15 minutes for my food to be delivered. It costs a lot of money, so that is a reason for me not to order my food anywhere else. I was really extremely hungry and I really do NOT think this is okay. When I call, I get an excuse that it is very busy and chaotic with the delivery, but that happens often, so maybe they should stop delivering or better indicate that it is going to take a LONG time!

First of all: I have never encountered such a friendly delivery driver, thank you Paul! Furthermore, the spaghetti carbonara was perfect and I was very happy with the extra Parmesan and the bread that I hadn't even asked for. It was a very large portion; I was able to eat from it for two days. So, absolutely recommended.

We come here often and enjoy it every time. The food is tasty and the service is fast and friendly. My absolute favorite is Pasta da Silva; my son always orders the Pizza picante.

There were three of us going out to eat; two were not happy with the taste of the pizza. Olives were just thrown on one pizza, not evenly distributed. The third person thought it was decent. The service was absolutely not professional or pleasant. Several hanging empty bottles serve as decoration, suspended by wires that almost slide off the bottle. So, you absolutely cannot sit there eating in a nice, quiet, and relaxed manner. A bottle could fall on you at any moment. Not recommended for us.

This is truly one of the few places in Zeist where you get value for your money without breaking the bank. SUPER generous portions and the food is delicious and prepared with care; a real Italian experience and you can taste it 🇮🇹😍❤️🍝 It is especially nice that they also deliver for a reasonable price, since all the supermarkets in Zeist close so early and you’re feeling lazy on Sunday, this is really great with a pizza and tiramisu 👏❤️ The tomato soup is also sooo tasty 🤤😮‍💨

I actually never write reviews. The pizza was lukewarm, the pasta bolognese didn't taste good. I didn't finish it either. Spaghetti aglio e olio was tasteless/dry. The seafood pasta was okay. My son gives it a six out of ten. I do expect something better from an Italian restaurant. Prices are steep, so you are allowed to expect something.

Three times the same story: I called an hour before to pick it up myself. I arrived right on time, but still had to wait 15 minutes.

By far a fantastic restaurant! Great atmosphere, they make it look truly Italian. That's beautiful! It's wonderful to eat there on a summer evening. The food was excellent! We've been coming here for years. It's a lovely place with delicious Italian food. Unfortunately, the vanilla ice cream and orange juice were gone the last time. The service is sometimes a bit slow, but the staff is always on their toes. The vegetarian lasagna is definitely recommended!

How do you end up at Monterosso in Zeist? If you're looking for the center of where all our cousins ​​live! Despite the warning that our group would have to sit at two tables, with a bit of shuffling, we managed to get all of us at one. Thanks so much for that! The food was delicious (and the atmosphere, of course!), the service was quick, and we highly recommend the tiramisu for dessert!

First of all, the pizzas were delicious. Let there be no misunderstanding about that. Only then does the location, a faded glory. It desperately needs a makeover. Huge dust traps above the guests' heads... dark corners... wine bottles as decoration covered in dust, and just a few too many tables in a row, so you can't just sit down but have to squeeze in at the rickety tables. Best pizza in Zeist for takeout!

Great pizza, but I ordered onion on the pizza (and paid extra for it), but it wasn't included, and when I tried to call, the customer service representative was constantly busy. Too bad, I would have liked to resolve it with you ;)

A lovely dinner for four on Sunday evening. What did one of us order? Pasta Silva €19.25 Linguine with tenderloin, Parmesan, sun-dried tomatoes, and truffle oil Unfortunately, it was deglazed with red wine, which was very overpowering. I'm not a fan of red wine. Upon saying this, the response was: "TOO WRONG it doesn't taste good." Despite our question/comment why this wasn't mentioned on the menu (red wine), because the red wine significantly affected the taste. We simply had to pay for everything.

Pizzeria Monterosso has been a Zeist institution for decades, and rightly so! From the moment you walk in, you feel the warm Italian atmosphere. The pizzas are delicious: freshly made, generously topped, and with a perfect base! Kudos to the pizza maker! The service is friendly, and despite the crowds, the atmosphere remains relaxed and welcoming.

We had to wait an hour and 50 minutes for rather pricey pizzas. Finally, we called to find out where they were and they said they'd deliver with 15 coins, which ultimately took 40 minutes. This was the last time for us. Just be honest and don't promise anything you can't keep.

The service has improved considerably since the last time we dined here. We were regularly asked how we were enjoying our meal and if we wanted another drink when our glasses were empty. The food is still excellent, although my pizza had very little gorgonzola. A margherita is also good, but not what I ordered. The restaurant was packed, but we still got our food relatively quickly. The terrace was a wonderful surprise! The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and professional – they made us feel at home. The food was outstanding – fresh, perfectly prepared and with a lot of attention to detail. If you are looking for a place for a romantic dinner or a family outing – Monterosso is the ideal choice. Had to wait an hour and a half for 4 pizzas. Not asked if we wanted something to drink. Fine if it's busy but let them know and don't take on new customers.

The food was good. I just want to say that I find the price of 4.50 for a side dish of two and a half pieces of baguette with herb butter ridiculously expensive. You should understand this yourselves.

Understanding in Zeist and top pizzas

We are not satisfied with the delivery of Monterosso. It is already the third time in a row that the delivery takes an hour longer than indicated. After an hour we called and they said it would take another fifteen minutes. That was apparently not true and after 20 minutes we called again. Again they indicated that it would be there in fifteen minutes. In the end it arrived an hour after previously indicated. We will not order from them because we lost an entire evening waiting for some food.

The calzone is fantastic! I was hesitant because there was no description of the filling, and the picture when ordering online was not appealing (possible improvement?). But it tasted very good, and the filling had all sorts of yummy ingredients!

Monterosso's food is really tasty, but the delivery is beyond worthless. Called after 2 hours of waiting, called supposedly on the way after 45 minutes and called again supposedly on the way after half an hour and then the food arrived after 3.5 hours! We did receive some additional products. The receipt was lost and I decided not to order via the internet anymore, because that didn't work well was the excuse. Then make sure you update the website so that the orders go through properly (enable home delivery perhaps??) or indicate on the website that you can only order by telephone. In other words, the food is worth repeating, delivery is beyond worthless.

Tonight my partner and I visited this restaurant and we waited for 40 minutes to order and 1 hour and 15 minutes until we received our main dishes. I am not someone to write this in a review (or write reviews at all) but I did feel as though the experience was homophobic and distasteful. Us two and a party of 4 were the only people in the restaurant for the majority of the time we were there (later in the evening), and this party arrived around 20 minutes after us, ordered before us, and received their food before us. If I hadn't flagged down a waiter (who was not our original waiter, she only brought us drinks and never came back to the table), I'm sure we would've waited an hour or more to order (and we would've just left). When I finally just approached the owner so we could pay and leave (because again, no one checked on us in over 30 minutes), she did not apologize at all when I brought up the wait time, nor did she seem to feel bad. Do not come to this restaurant if you're queer or an ally!

I always order pasta with 4 types of cheese and lately I think the quality has noticeably deteriorated, but this time it really didn't seem like anything. The taste of cheese was hard to find, it was more like pasta crème frache than pasta, 4 types of cheese, the spaghetti was overcooked, causing it to become a big lump of gunk and the bag of extra cheese that is always supplied is getting smaller and smaller. Never experienced anything like this! just shocked at how bad. A real waste of money and disappointing that I unfortunately say.....no more Monte Rosso for us for the time being, very unfortunate

The Pizza was very tasty but a bit salty and impossible to cut with the knives we were given. The atmosphere inside and outside is nice. I don't even want to start about the service, it's worthless. Didn't come to the table once after the order was taken. The drinks were quickly finished, but despite asking someone several times, no response was given to ordering another drink. That's why we decided to leave immediately after the pizza, even though we still wanted dessert. In the end we had an ice cream around the corner.

If I could give 0 stars for the service, I would. To summarize- We waited for 1hr for 4 pizzas. We complained to the owner and she was being extremely rude, speaking very loudly and eventually stormed off. I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed because of her behavior. Her excuse for the poor service delivery is that it was busy (which it was not. Only half the restaurant was full). We would have been understanding if they communicated this to us. Also, they only came to our table once to ask for drinks.

Komen al jaren naar tevredenheid maar vanavond was verschikkelijk. Hadden al eerdere wat mindere ervaringen met afhalen wat kwaliteit betreft. Het was zondagavond en niet druk maar nam toch een uur voor een pizz. Na hier een opmerking over te hebben gemaakt kregen we een bijzondere reactie. In al die jaren mag het toch wel een keertje foutgaan. We vonden dit geen gepaste reactie en daarna kwam de overtreffende opmerking voor jullie 6 andere. Dit was echt de druppel en zullen nooit meer terugkomen na deze onbeschofte service.

We hadden gereserveerd en meestal kan dat niet op het terras. Maar Monterosso heeft een groot terras, en iedereen werd buiten een tafel aangewezen. Top. Een persoon in het gezelschap eet gluten en lactosevrij. Een heerlijke pizza met glutenvrije bodem. En een een superlekker ijsje. Er werd heel fijn met ons meegedacht. We allemaalheerlijk gegeten en dat in een heerlijke ambiance. Zowel op het terras als ook binnen, waar we eerder een keer waren. Binnen is het sfeervolle, typisch Italiaanse ietwat rumoerige gezelligheid. Als je van Limoncello houdt: de trio van Limoncello als toetje is een echte aanrader.

Great place to eat a pizza with friends. We did that recently. The choice is huge! The service is extremely friendly and attentive. The environment is cozy. In short: for a cozy Italian restaurant, go to Monterosso in Zeist. Sufficient parking spaces a bit back.

The last few times it was often delivered more than 1.5 to 2 hours later. Similarly, the last time we ordered at 5:30 PM (delivery time 55/70 minutes), we called at 7 PM and our order would be there in 20 minutes. Called again after an hour, said it would be out in a minute. Finally delivered at 8:12 pm. Order was half cold and incomplete. We've always enjoyed Monterosso, but it's not what it used to be. This was the last time!

We bestelden online. Maar de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding was echt heel slecht. De scampi’s waren taai. De pizza’s koud, de frites slap en een deel was niet bezorgd. De soep was wel heel lekker en de melanzane was ook oké.

Traditionally coming by 1-2 times a year for pizza + dessert for at least 10 years, but unfortunately an increasingly bad experience. The busy and small tables and chairs remain unchanged, but the decoration is nice. Can be hot/noisy there. Biggest problem: if you can't handle the guest volume, handle it accordingly! Waited half an hour to order pizza. Waited for fifteen minutes (!) for pizzas, it also seemed like takeaway and delivery took priority. Pizzas are thinly topped with sauce and cheese and therefore quite dry, but are generously topped with other ingredients. Ice cream is delicious! And fortunately quickly, because it was now a bit quieter. Service in general seemed very rushed and sometimes unfriendly/clipped. Unfortunately, our tradition like this won't last much longer...

Gluten-free options are indicated in the menu, which is great: both the pasta and the pizza immediately state that gluten-free is possible. However, the service then communicated very poorly about it. Claimed that it was not possible for a gluten-free starter, and that it was possible for an ice cream sundae - we then received a coupe with cookie crumbs on top, had to look after it ourselves, and on the second attempt we only got bare ice cream, without the whipped cream and sauce, and a catty response when we inquired ("I said gluten free and that's how the kitchen made it"). Finally, despite the mistake and then having to pay the full price for the incomplete dessert, including the gluten-free surcharges. The gv spaghetti was just too soft, all the strings were broken, and the pizza base was soggy. Not at all. Could have been due to the crowds. Furthermore, it seems like a good standard Italian, with a lot of gluten-free options, and we didn't get sick.

I love this place! They sell a lot of pizza. Our pizza came already after 10 minutes! The atmosphere is also great, because there are very funny bottles hanging above our head!
