You can eat well there for little money.

We got recommended this place for making banh mi "just like in Vietnam" which I cannot corroborate myself, however I can say that their banh mi is one of the best things I've seen anyone do to bread. They're satisfying, flavourful, and if you're the kind of person who looks at a sandwich of this size and thinks you can barely eat half, you just might find yourself devouring the entire thing before you even notice. We have not tried other things from the menu yet because the banh mi is just too tempting every time, but I'm sure we'll find the time someday! Happy to see that they've moved to a bigger place recently - they clearly have the traffic to support it! Lastly, there are free period products available in the bathroom, a very thoughtful thing I would love to see more businesses adopt.

The atmosphere is not the best, but I think it's mainly because people choose to do takeaway. They have sandwiches and noodles mainly. I have tried the chicken and the beef sandwiches, but the chicken one was wayyyy better, it was a perfect balance between crispy and soft. The beef one seemed more dry. But maybe it also differs by the person preparing the meal. A very good bonus is the waiting time - I waited max 6min. Also moderately cheap comparing to other food places around. Sorry for the low quality pic!

As a Vietnamese who struggles to find REAL GOOD banh mi in the Netherlands, having found this place made my day! The pork belly banh mi is authentic, from the baguette, the pork belly flavor, pickles, sauce (yes we do put mayo into banh mi sometimes if it goes well). And the price is very good for the quality and how filling the meat is. Definitely recommend if you want to try Vietnamese banh mi! (I also went to the location in Utrecht and the quality is the same, but slightly higher price)

It takes a very long time. It says (default?) 10 minutes but takes at least 30.

It doesn’t make sense to come here any longer, especially at lunch time! Sad, because I like the food. Staff is hopelessly overwhelmed with their job - I waited over 50! minutes for ONE sandwich and wasted my break with standing around. Was promised a refund by the manager and was told after I got my food that there is no reason to get it anymore. Wow, just rude. Dear management, pls ban the delivery services at peak times. As a customer who walks in to get food you are punished with horrendous waiting time because of them being prioritised. Thanks Mr. Dam, never again!

Okay this place is pretty great and the staff do their best, they are also really friendly. Unfortunately today it took 45 minutes to get 2 banh mis. I don’t know if this is a regular occurrence but I spent my entire lunch break standing around. The waiting time on the board should be more accurate. If there’s a long wait, at least tell people before they order. Potentially if you can’t handle doing a load of in person + thuisbezorgd orders at the same time, prioritisation is needed.

I had to wait 25 minutes for a chicken sandwich, and when I finally got it, the chicken was cold. After returning it, I got the sandwich back 5 minutes later, soaked in grease. Not a pleasant experience.

When I went today I found a sign that they had moved, however at the new location immedialty after entering I was kicked out as I had no invitation? No sign outside or similar, not really nice for customers.

Unfortunately, my experience with Mr. The Dam at Astraat 6 in Groningen leaves much to be desired. It seems that the reviews about this place do not reflect the real situation. The service was poor and the staff seemed unfriendly and uninterested. In addition, the quality of the products offered did not meet the stated standards. Also alarming is the large number of extremely positive reviews, which look unnatural and create the feeling of an artificial reputation. If you are looking for an honest and quality place, it is better to look at other options. I definitely don't recommend this place and doubt the validity of their high rating.

I do not recommend eating in this place. The reason for it is the other day I was passing by the place and I saw one of the employees screaming at the other girl in the kitchen and it made her outright cry. I can not enjoy my food and I can’t imagine others going to the place where stuff like that happens. I came later to ask who it was and they told me his name is Son, I do not understand how he can treat his employees this way. Concluding, avoid this place at any cost

We have had many banh mi sandwiches in Vietnam. Unfortunately their sandwiches can't match the original...the taste is otherwise okay

Beef sandwich: There were recommendations from such students, I had to try it and it was not bad. For some reason, my wrist was turned the wrong way and I ordered it with extra coriander and pepper. It tingled my tongue, but not unbearably, it was still delicious. The bread is very crunchy, slightly uncomfortable to eat. The meat bites a bit awkwardly. It has many vegetables and gives good freshness. The price is very acceptable. In the end, it's good. Coke zero: very acceptable

Too bad, 2 pieces of chicken on a lot of boiled noodles and stuffed with iceberg lettuce. Fortunately, the whole bag of soy sauce made it still somewhat tasty. Not recommended.

The most authentic Vietnamese bread I have ever had in Europe. The bread is grilled on spot so it is warm and crunchy. The bread is also as thin as the ones I had in Vietnam, which you can barely find in any other restaurant. Filled with meat, pate, pickled, and sauce … the taste and ingredients are just as authentic as the ones sold in Vietnam (except for the mayonese but i am fine with this addition). I came to the store to order around lunch time. There were 6 staff and 3 self service ordering machines, the most well-equipped VN food stores I had ever seen in Europe. The only thing that could be improved is the work flow optimisation. They were packed with orders and forgot mine. However, the staff instantly fixed it after I reminded her. The cook (probably owner/manager) was also observant as he also proactively came to ask what my order was as he noticed that I stood there for a while. Would love to see their expansion to other cities so I can grab another bread soon!

Would have easily been a 5-star if the fried noodles had a bit more meat & some variety in the veggies. But the price and portion size are great, and it was served in no more than 5 minutes!

It is true that it is an extensive restaurant, but watching people walking/cycling through the Astraat is also fun. We had fried noodles and rice noodles and the salad roll. The last one was still okay. The noodles were lukewarm and tasteless. Mixing some soy sauce adds some flavor. Too bad, but no repeat for us.

It's 5am. I'm done with work. All I wanted was to eat my dinner. I asked for soy. This is just oil. Usually everything is great at Mr. Dam

In my opinion, one of the tastiest sandwiches I have ever eaten. For me, Groningen is a two-hour drive, but when I go there, Mr. Dam definitely on the menu!

Delicious bánh mì with authentic ingredients. Pork belly had delicious crunchy crust and baguette had also thin and crunchy crust. And the price is very moderat. The automatic ordering system makes the work flow efficient and even with mass orders you only have to wait for roughly 10 to 15 mins for your order.

As always, great food, sandwiches or Bahn mi are very tasty and a good lunch portion. The salad rolls are good too! Only the size is different each time because they are hand rolled.

The grilled bahn mi was ABSOLUTELY delicious! Although its a bit more catered to the western taste buds. It is still packed with flavour! It was also fairly priced.

Always very tasty, but unfortunately less so this time. People who came after me with the same orders were placed first, I had to wait 2.5x the indicated waiting time. When it was finally ready, the 1st part that had been waiting for 10 minutes was suddenly put in another bag, and they offered me the wrong sandwich. This was then remade, waited even longer..! Normally completely perfect, but this time a lot of frustration.

Unbeatable food experience from a price-performance ratio point of view. To be honest: It tastes a bit like an asian influenced kebap. But because I love kebap, I immediately felt in love with this place and it´s Banh mis (baguettes). And I´ve had them all: The chicken, the beef and the vegan. By the way, the BBQ noodles are also great. Go there for a quick and very tasteful snack for example during exploring the city, but be careful: It closes at 8 pm.

Definitely not authentic Banh Mi. Very catered to the Dutch taste, which might be a positive for some people but personally was a turn off for me. Banh Mi is covered in mayo and the vegetables are extremely salty with a bad aftertaste. The chicken is alright but very one-note. The price is good though, just don't come here if you're expecting authentic Vietnamese food.

Ordered three sandwiches... for three people 😉, chicken, beef and tofu. All three were of good quality and delicious. Worth repeating when I'm in Groningen again.

I like the food from this place, well I try to. Every time we get food from here I ask for no cucumber on my Banh Mi. The last three times I got food from here it had cucumber included (which I cannot stand). Today the sticker on the sandwich had 'no cucumber' written on it, but had cucumber in the sandwich. In the bin. Not coming again, thanks.

Get rid of the machines. Not only is the UI horrible, it doesn't work properly, and it doesnt give you the choice to remove all specific items. For example, I'm allergic to mushrooms, yet they're not an option in the "without" section. Step backwards. These issues could put someone in the hospital if they don't properly dissect their sandwhich beforehand.

Second time in a row I ordered a VEGAN sandwich and got a vegetarian one with mayonaise instead of avocado. How?!

Always been a fan of your Bahn mi's. Have visited the place since opening. Back then it was a full five stars food experience. Sad to say that for the last couple of years, the food and service has dropped drastically. The bun has become too hard, doesn't have that signature fluffy crunchiness. I think the business is lacking quality control unfortunately. I would love to come back but for now not for a while 😔.

O jee, wat is dat bedrijf veranderd. Wij komen er niet meer. Het smaakt niet meer het zelfde,. Je krijgt bijna geen vlees meer. Het broodje is bijna alleen groente, en het personeel verstaat je de helft van de tijd niet. Jammer, jammer, jammer.

Unfassbar lecker! Meine Empfehlung das Tofu Baguette - wenn man scharf mag. Bedienung nett, alles hygienisch, schnell versorgt :) Essen würde ich allersings draussen, schön ist der Laden nicht 😛

Broodjes super lekker, beetje prijzig, maar het waard als je bereid bent wat meer te besteden. Altijd snelle en vriendelijke service gehad hier.

Check altijd goed je bestelling. Eten is top maar altijd word er iets vergeten... geen saus, geen stokjes, koriander terwijl je aangeeft dat je het niet wil etc.

Lekkerste broodjes van Groningen en daarbuiten. Eet er het liefst elke dag een. De enige reden waarom ik een relatie heb is omdat mij vriend dicht bij Mr. Dam woont

Zo jammer!! Het was zo'n goed concept en de broodjes en de springrolls waren zo lekker en rijkelijk belegd. Prijzen zijn omhoog gegaan wat heel begrijpelijk is, maar om vervolgens een broodje beef en springroll beef te krijgen waar amper beef in zit hebben jullie nu een klant minder.

It's an unassuming little take away place of Vietnamese food with the BEST bahn mi I ever had (and it includes the ones I had in Vietnam). Friendly and fast service, very reasonable prices - it's a place not to miss.

Gisteren in Groningen met een ex collega een broodje met rundvlees extra scherp gegeten. Heerlijk vers brood, uitstekend mals vlees, knapperige groenten en ondanks de rode pepers niet echt scherp, maar dat is strikt een persoonlijke mening en smaak. Een absolute aanrader voor mijn volgende bezoek aan die levendige stad in het noorden.

Dit is mijn favoriet in de stad qua broodje om te lunchen. De Bahn Mi kip is overheerlijk. Het broodje is altijd hetzelfde qua beleg en kwaliteit. Mocht je tussen 12-13 uur komen, houdt rekening met wachten, want je bent niet de enige die deze broodjes overheerlijk vindt. Maar het wachten is de moeite waard.

Prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding uitstekend voor heerlijke broodjes of noodles.Altijd een voldaan gevoel na deze minimaaltijden.

Bahn mi is bijna altijs geweldig. Laatste keer was ie beduidend minder. Ik vrees eem gevolg van explosieve groei en expansiedrift. Hopelijk de volgende keer weer beter.

I’ve been here already several times and I’ve recently tried the beef bahn mi. This was very tasty and I will definitely get it again. I highly recommend.

Altijd heerlijk maar alle bestellingen worden afgeraffeld als het druk is. Vandaag zaten er een paar stukjes rundvlees in mijn vegetarische noedels. Kan gewoon echt niet.

This location is a real hit or miss. I like to go here for the convenience and the price but it is very inconsistent with quality and experience. Oftentimes I find the tofu broodje to be lacking in flavour (you can definitely make a flavourful tofu bahn mi as shown by La Ca). Every time I come here the personeel are either totally swamped or look bored out of their mind. Wanted to surprise my boyfriend for lunch and ended up waiting more than 35 minutes for 2 sandwiches while the 8 or 9 staff were scrambling to keep up with orders.
