Museumcafe Gouda in Binnenstad

Although the place is great, the service is very poor and slow. We wanted to order snacks along with our beer and drinks (borrel), but they limited the service between 14:30-17:00.

Mooie plek, maar weinig gastvrij. Op een zonnige middag is het terras vol met mensen en lege gereserveerde tafeltjes. Tegelijkertijd zijn ze binnen gesloten, zelfs voor een kopje koffie of thee. Weinig flexibel, jammer hoor.

Today we had a high tea for two people. The weather was nice so the entire terrace was full. Unfortunately, that was also clearly noticeable. We had to wait more than 45 minutes for the first round, which was a simple smoothie. That was really way too long. After that it went a bit faster, but still some things went wrong. For example, we had asked for new tea water and after waiting 15 minutes we went to the staff. It turned out that they had forgotten it. The food was tasty but not special. Unfortunately, there were also a lot of pigeons that tried to steal the food from plates. This made it not such a relaxing experience. The staff should definitely take stricter action against this. In short, the food was tasty but the service was substandard.

We had a high tea in the garden, good atmosphere and very beautiful there. Food was tasty. Found it too sweet myself, would have preferred a small sandwich extra but that is personal.

Mooie locatie met een prachtige tuin vol oude details. Jammer dat men er totaal disfunctionerende horeca in herbergt. Net na openingstijd (terwijl er nauwelijks gasten zitten) al een half uur moeten wachten om een kop koffie te bestellen, is al zot. Als je ze dan een nieuwe kans wil geven bij de lunch, gaat het weer mis. Hoewel de gerechten er lekker uitzien, niets van kunnen proeven. Tafel 75 minuten later gereserveerd. Duurt weer 30 minuten voor men eindelijk komt met de mededeling dat het in 45 minuten niet lukt om.een broodje te maken en op te eten. Sorry, maar in 75 minuten moet je toch echt een broodje en flesje fris kunnen bestellen, bereiden en eten. Binnen allea gesloten, dus alleen terras hoeft men te bedienen. Bediening genoeg, maar totale desorganisatie. Maar naar brownies&diwnies gegaan, wat gelukkig wel top was.

Went to this beautiful location in the center of Gouda (within walking distance of the market) on King's Day. An outside table is recommended when the weather is nice. The food was good and so was the service from the staff.

Very comfortable and beautifully laid out

A very nice place with a great atmosphere. Nice and smiling staff. Delicious dishes. Great soups, both cheese and onion. Great coffee and tea. What was very interesting for me was that the tables in the garden were placed on the beach made of shells. The atmosphere of the garden is very artistic and wonderfully relaxing. I'm glad we found such a lovely place. You can also see sculptures by various artists. Entrance through the bridge and through the gate with a turret.

We had afternoon high tea. Nice place and everything on the tray was good. Had 17 cups of tea and staff was nice.

Went here in the sun around 4:15 PM to order a coffee. Server who has just placed two huge cocktails at the neighbors tells us that the last round has just ended and that she cannot do anything for us. If I'm not wrong, the museum cafe is open until 5:00 PM

We only had a coffee and scones but they were delicious. However, the real showstopper is the location. It is in the cellar of the Gouda Museum which doesn't sound nice but they made it feel so homey and inviting. Absolutely love the vibe

Coffee cups would be cleaned by hand with a scouring pad and remove that dark layer that many cups had. Can't put a fish cup at the table. Scouring sponge, so simple.

Leuk café bij het museum. Aparte locatie binnen en ook het bezoeken zonder museumbezoek lijkt prima. Lekker gezeten en genoten.

Very unfortunate experience. My ordered sandwich was not passed on to the kitchen. After 45 minutes I was informed again. After 10-15 minutes the sandwich arrived, initially without cutlery. I never got a napkin. Something like that can happen, and the waitress apologized several times, but it would have been nice if I hadn't been charged for the second cup of tea I ordered as a result. The sandwich was also not really generously filled and served clumsily (sliced ​​open at the top). I was also on the draft, with five children next to me at first (noisy!) and then the table next to me was extensively set up for a baby shower, with the staff constantly working about 50-80 cm from me. Not a pleasant environment. That was bad luck, but all in all a bit too much bad luck to come back here again, even if the high teas look promising.

What a nice lunch spot in Gouda. We took the Mediterranean sandwich and pancakes 'forest walk', which were very tasty. Then we shared the mango passion fruit cheesecake 😋 I think the high tea would be fun to try next time

Really nice place to have lunch in Gouda! When we went there they didn't have any spots outside anymore but inside there was still a lot of space! Great food, attentive waitresses and adorable decor!

Top location, but the price/quality of the food is not in proportion. We were with a large group so had no choice for lunch for which we had to pay 18.50 pp. Each person was served a small glass of soup, a piece of baguette with a piece of brie, a sandwich with ham and part of a focaccia roll with salmon and egg. Serving did not go very well. On a table that was set for 8 people, the service placed a shelf for 4 people. This asks for problems. In addition, we found the service not hospitable at all and very young.

Beautiful location. Service is less, had to ask for a map and to be helped. Ordered 2x museum sandwiches, bread was very dry and sparsely spread/filled. Not worth repeating for us.

I attended my friends wedding at Museum Cafe. It's a beautiful place to host such events. The service was great, and I loved how everything was well decorated and managed.

For a birthday, the 2 of us took the Guilty Pleasure High Tea. The different tea flavors were surprising and the snacks were delicious. The atmosphere is exactly what you expect from a high tea location and much more. It looked like a scene from Alice in Wonderland.

Ate a delicious Croque with cheese and Serrano ham. The cafe was now in the basement and therefore very atmospheric.

Nice place for lunch. The vaults give the restaurant a fantastic atmosphere. Very tasty dishes and the home-made ice tea is highly recommended! Service could be better, you have to wait a very long time before you are helped.

Mooie locatie!! Enkel lunch viel.tegen terwijl we beter gewend zijn van museumcafe. Lunch was niet hetgeen wat besteld was. Aangegeven reactie sorry. Daarnaast waren we in het bezit van een cadeaubon van 90 euro en mochten dit niet in gedeeltes besteden maar moest in 1 keer besteed worden. Dus let op als je iemand een cadeaubon aanbied.

Day out in Gouda, where we were referred to the museum café twice. What a beautiful entrance and great location! The reception was correct but rushed, but it was busy. The place we got was cold and draughty. We asked if this could be fixed, or if another place became available, but it would go everywhere. The furniture was old and worn out. Plenty of wear spots on the sofa, which was also quite full of stains, and a wobbly table and chair, which have also seen their best days. All in all it was very cold and dingy. The croque monsieur was tasty and neatly prepared, although there were pieces missing from the plate, but it was expensive. The sanitary facilities were neatly maintained. Upon departure we saw a note on the door: close the door due to march.... Despite the great location and appearance of the building, not worth repeating.

Van een heerlijk Hightea genoten. Was uitstekend.

Prachtige trouwlocatie in het mooie, historische Gouda. Top locatie met topbediening en service. Ik kom hier als trouwfotograaf graag nog een keer terug.

Van een heerlijke hightea genoten in een hele bijzondere ambiance!

Superlekkere high tea gehad voor een babyshower van mijn schoonzusje. Alle hapjes waren heerlijk! Helaas mocht het cadeau niet even ergens achter worden geparkeerd en was de versiering niet optimaal (waar we wel voor betaald hadden) gelukkig kregen we daar achteraf wel korting op.

Dit jaar is in het museumcafé Gouda de fonduefabriek gevestigd. De kaasfondue was lekker, de bediening heel leuk alleen de stoelen waren niet fijn om een avond op te zitten. Volgende keer vragen we om een ander plekje. Maar zeker aan te raden gedurende november en december, de periode waarin de fonduefabriek te boeken is.

Voor het afscheid van een collega hier geweest voor een high tea. Super leuke sfeer, ziet er gezellig uit! Vriendelijke bediening, jammer dat ze alleen liep daardoor moesten we soms even wachten. High tea was lekker en goed verzorgd. Voldoende voor keus en voor ieder wat wils!

Afgelopen zaterdag een babyshower gehad. En hebben we genoten van de heerlijke high tea. Zeker een aanrader!

Wij hebben 2 september '22 ons huwelijk gevierd bij het museumcafe in Gouda. De ceremie en de borrel. Het was een fantastische (zonnige) dag. Het team heeft ons geheel ontzorgd en alle gasten en onszelf op de grote dag zelf heel erg goed verzorgd! Alles tot in de puntjes geregeld en mooi aangekleed. Wat een leuke touch aan de locatie is, is dat je een slotje aan de muur hangt na de ceremonie en de sleutel in de gracht mag gooien. Wel is merkbaar dat er bepaalde contractuele afspraken zijn met leveranciers, waardoor je als bruidspaar iets minder vrijheid hebt met bepaalde keuzes. Anderzijds hoef je zelf dus weer minder te regelen/zoeken/denken.. Kortom: prachtig mooie locatie en goed verzorgd.

Een echte aanrader om een high tea te doen. De etagere was heerlijk en goed gevuld. Diverse smaken thee.

Heerlijke high wine gehad bij het museumcafé! Aan de praat geraakt met Juul. Ze heeft ons goed bediend en heeft het er een onvergetelijke middag van gemaakt.

Er gezellig locatie en sfeer. Liep toevallig tegen dit cafe aan tijdens mijn bezoek. Het cafe light dicht in de buurt van het Museum Gouda. Ook erg leuk is het tuintje voor het cafe waar mooie beelden staan. Mooi Museum Cafe maar ben hier maar even gebleven.

Een schitterende locatie om een babyshower te houden met entourage, goed geregeld en een overheerlijke Hightea wij hadden gekozen voor The Guilty pleasure! Dat was helemaal Top! Zeker een aanrader.

Genieten van een Croque kaas/seranoham in een gezellige eetgelegenheid.

Wat n heerlijke plek om te lunchen! Vooral als de zon schijnt. Heerlijk in de tuin. Personeel deed hun uiterste best ondanks de drukte! Eten was heerlijk! Je zou er de hele middag door kunnen brengen! Echt n aanrader!

Hele goede service en een fijne plek met lekker eten! We hadden een uitje met het team en er werd echt rekening gehouden en hun best gedaan om voor iedereen iets te verzorgen ondanks de allergieën.

Geweldig verstopt plekje voor de kenners. Mooie setting, lieflijk. De high tea was lekker! Binnen vind ik het dan geen aanrader. En de club sandwich was teleurstellend qua beleg en smaak. Inrichting niet naar mijn smaak, vreemde kleursetting.

Goed en lekker gegeten op buiten terras

Hier kann man sehr schön im Innenhof sitzen und leckeren Kuchen und Kaffee genießen.

Wat hebben we hier heerlijk gezeten, prachtige locatie en originele menukaart en locatie, leuk ingericht en bovenal heel vriendelijke service! De cocktail was ook heerlijk!

Wat een mooie locatie is dit toch, net achter de Sint-Janskerk je waan je je in het middeleeuwse. Zeer vriendelijk personeel en creatieve keuken. De high wine is erg goed bevallen!

Leuke locatie, eten smaakte goed, maar zeer trage bediening waar je alles meerdere keren aan moet vragen. Bij een groep met een lange tafel wordt aan het uiteinde van de tafel eenmalig verteld wat er op de etagère ligt, de andere helft hoort het dus niet. Allergieën die bij de reservering duidelijk zijn aangegeven worden niet doorgevoerd in de uiteindelijke high tea. Hierdoor kon één lid van ons gezelschap niet of nauwelijks meedoen.
