Think you can redeem 10 Oelespot guilders on the last day? You're disappointed. A whole month of pancakes at half price. Last day, I think, redeem 20 for 2 pancakes, but no, I need a code, I'm told. Oh, I'll just sort it out on the patio. No, you can't get it that quickly... Truly crappy communication... advertising something with half-baked information...

Sitting outside on the terrace... We hadn't even sat down yet, and we were immediately asked if we knew what we wanted. Could I browse the menu first? Once we knew what we wanted, the waitress came quickly. We ordered drinks and an omelette. Drinks arrived within 5 minutes. But the food... After 45 minutes, I paid for my drinks and went elsewhere. I think they couldn't peel the chicken. Nice location, but that's where it ends... Too bad. You shouldn't go there hungry, or you'll die. Or eat beforehand.

Cozy, delicious coffee and excellent Limburg pie.

Mooie ligging maar de manier van uitbaten is opmerkelijk. Geen prijzen op de kaart want (citaat) "we moeten de prijzen misschien 3 keer per jaar verhogen en dan moeten we steeds een nieuwe kaart drukken". De buurman vroeg voor een sjoes, maar dat was er niet. Toen men vroeg waarom niet was het antwoord "dan moeten we extra een flesje oud bruin openmaken voor maar een consumptie". Je hebt wat over voor je klanten of niet. Wij bestelden een biertje van de tap, maar er is geen tap. Doe maar een flesje dan, geen glas nodig. Bier kwam toch in een glas, dat zeker niet 33 cl groot was. Wij vragen ons nog steeds wat er met de rest is gebeurd....

Everything was wonderful except...there was no price on the menu

It takes a very long time before you get your food and drinks.

If you have allergies, this is not the place to be. Gluten-free means removing the bread and paying a euro more. Pure theft.

Lovely quiet place near an abbey. I was there on a hot day with my bike and they kindly offered to fill my water bottle. I will definitely come back!!

3 kwartier moeten wachten op een echt vies broodje wat in zijn geheel uit de koelkast kwam Zelfs brood was zacht en koud en was een smaak. Omgeving was prachtig maar broodje 10 x niks. Mijn zoon had tosti welke wel lekker was maar super weinig....

It's hard to make vegetarian bitterballen... oh my, they're on the menu, but they're not allowed to be prepared for lunch😓😓😓

Heerlijke plek om op het terras te 'hangen'. Aperol spritz was fantastisch puur. Meestal krijg je veel te veel ijs, waardoor de helft van je glas heel waterig is. Dat is hier niet; helemaal top. Lekker relaxt gezeten in 't zonnetje. Aardige bediening. Goede prijzen voor alles. Aanradertje!

Nice try, but alas. Had seasonal iced coffee. Strong coffee flavor, large ice crystals in the ice cream. I have had iced coffee many times in different places but this one is really not tasty. Didn't drink/eat it. Too bad, it's a great atmospheric location.

I called them to make sure reservation for a group of 6 adults, 2 kids and a toddler. They said we were a big group so they can only offer a limited menu, which I accepted.. but when I asked what is the option for the kids, I was given only one option which one of the kids cannot take, and they refused to make an exception and offer an alternative. I was willing to think with them and switch to a common dish that both kids could have which would still fit their small kitchen and staff. The only alternative was what was on the full menu at the same price. They were unwilling to think along with me. Such bad customer service despite my effort to work with their smaller menu!

I have eaten here a number of times because of the beautifully situated terrace, hence the 2 stars. Normally I would get a whole single plain white sandwich (without herb butter) with the soup. Yesterday we both went for soup with my daughter (almost 8 euros per person) and we each only got half a sandwich. I said something about it and they gave me a sandwich afterwards. However, they calculated this as an extra 60 cents. Very bad and absolutely no service to the customer. Shame.

Today I avoided the traffic jam and had a drink and a snack on the terrace of Oelespot. A lovely terrace with friendly service. The food was delicious. A bit simple. But the atmosphere at this location makes up for everything.

Beautiful location, attractive decoration. Friendly service. No nice chairs. For that reason I wouldn't want to eat there. It's also not nice that there are no prices on the card and that you have to scan a QR code for that. Dynamic prices? I think €8.10 for a hot chocolate and a coke is very expensive. This is Tegelen, not some hip big city.

We had never eaten before, but I'm curious!🤔 They just didn't have any bock beer!😯 Not nice that you had to look up the price list digitally with my QR code!😒 Otherwise a nice location!!☺️😊

- Pancakes - what else - really delicious

Een mooie plek naast het Abdij. Menu heeft geen prijzen en alleen in te zien door een qr code te scannen. Dat is al erg onpersoonlijk. Toen we de prijzen zagen, schrokken we ons rot. 18 euro voor een (luxe) pannekoek! Goedkoopste was 14 euro. Ook een simpele uitsmijter bijna 13 euro. Prijzen voor een hoog culinaire hoogstaande bistro maar daar valt deze niet onder. Na tijdje maar weggegaan en ergens anders gaan eten. Het is het niet waard.

It was nice to spend time on the terrace. Mustard soup and bread with spreads were fine. Service was smooth and friendly.

A place with history and to have a quiet drink, unfortunately I can't tell you anything about the food maybe next time.

When the terrace is full it all takes a very long time, you can order from 1 person and they will work 1 by 1. After waiting more than 45 minutes for coffee, which was delicious, we left without having lunch.

Coffee latte and regular coffee super tasty and the latte deliciously hot. Lukewarm in most places. we always order from every restaurant and if they have it . 2 bread with 2 croquettes then we always ask if this can be shared by 2, this was no problem and, like everywhere else, we received a 2 plate super 👍🏼. in most places they ask which bread you have then multiple choices. Here you only got white bread with croquette and a mini bowl of mustard. I was very disappointed with the food. And then they ask 9.50 for it. If I compare it to others, at least you get a salad for the same price and yes, this is also shared by the two of us. Drinking coffee, yes, eating, no...

You can stop here in a cozy atmosphere with friendly service and have coffee, cake and other little things

10 minuten gezellig op het terras gezeten. Stoelen waren goed.. qr code werkte niet. Dame die ijs uitserveerde, verwees ons naar een andere collega, die ondanks oogcontact geen aanstalten maakte te vragen wat we kwamen doen..we zijn een paar minuten later maar gegaan. Of de koffie goed of slecht was? Ik zou het niet weten, maar het is wel een mooi terras.

Beautiful, quiet place where we ended up on our way to Germany. There were few people present on Tuesday evening, so we were quickly helped by nice and helpful staff. The menu was a bit limited for me, because I can't eat cow's milk, but in the end we both enjoyed our dinner.

Nice excursion restaurant with a terrace and a large selection of beers from Belgium. The service wasn't perfect but it tasted good.

We were again in a horrible traffic jam on the highway when I remembered that we were near the Oelspot. Immediately changed the route. When the traffic jam was cleared, we rested, fed and resumed our way home. Recommended.

We live nearby and the number of restaurants with a nice terrace is not very large. We ate here for the first time on a sunny terrace a few weeks ago. And it was very tasty! Yesterday again, now indoors because of the weather and it was a great time again. Delicious local beer and delicious food. It could be a bit busier, so next time think "Oelespot!".

We were there today and want to eat and drink. After the waitress came we ordered drinks and then my father asked his wife if she would like a sandwich. That was too much for the waitress and she said I had other work to do, so first decide what you want to eat because I can't wait. If it were up to me I would have gotten up and left. Something so unfriendly. Of course we didn't eat any more (but she didn't come back until 30 minutes later)

We ended up here while passing through and we really enjoyed it. We ate two super tasty pancakes, one with apple and bacon and one with ham and cheese, the cheese of which had such a nice crispy crust. The staff was really super friendly and professional. Dogs are also more than welcome, water was offered for them and they even received a dog biscuit. In short, highly recommended if you like good food!!

Wonderfully quiet in a super beautiful environment

Simple restaurant, a former monastery, but with a special atmosphere. The food was very tasty. However, it took quite a long time until it was served. The ice cream sundae for dessert was better than expected. The outdoor terrace was still closed in the evening in January. We will happily come back in the warmer season.

Today we sat outside in the sun on the terrace. Was completely full. Orders can be placed via app as well as via service. Chicken satay with fries, very tasty. Food was hot, plenty of fries and sauce. We will be back :) Nice place for lunch in the sun.

Mustard soup not warm, back to the kitchen and again not warm. If you can't serve a soup hot, leave the rest alone!

The food was not hot nor were the plates, nice service, nice ambiance. Price-quality ratio not good, too expensive. Especially for the children, frikandel. But that was hot again

On a cold but sunny Sunday afternoon, the Oelespot is perfect for getting warm again.

Oelespot has always had its peculiarities. But at least we food was okay. Boring menu, but okay. The location makes a lot up for that. Today my wife got a sandwich with bad salmon and of course we gave it back. Surprisingly the owner refused to take it off the bill. So this was definitely a last time. Oelespot heeft altijd zijn eigenaardigheden gehad. Maar het eten was tenminste oké. Saai menu, maar oké. De locatie maakt veel goed. Vandaag kreeg mijn vrouw een broodje met slechte zalm en dat hebben we uiteraard teruggegeven. Verrassend genoeg weigerde de eigenaar het van de rekening te halen. Dit was dus zeker een laatste keer.

Ate with family, it was class, we will definitely come back when we are in the area. service was also top notch.

Had drinks with about 55 people. Very good service and handling, nothing is too much trouble. Friendly and easy to make agreements with. Beautiful location. Very atmospheric!

Reserved lunch for 6 people. Friendly staff. Food was fine. What we did find entertaining: son-in-law ordered onion soup. Unfortunately we don't have that. Then I chose another one. Just give me Oelespot burger. We do not have that. Then I chose something else. Dessert iced coffee. Unfortunately we no longer have those. But ice cream was served and so was coffee. An iced coffee doesn't seem that difficult to me, but whatever. I think it was the afternoon that everything was gone 😉

Very nice place. We had a nice lunch, there was a nice atmosphere and very good and helpful service. I had a very tasty vegetarian burger. For the children there are pancakes with giant raisins.

No lunch possible, no staff, after waiting 20 minutes, say it immediately when someone comes in.

Had a drink here, friendly staff! A nice terrace to make a stop to recover from your walk or bike ride. You can sit outside on the terrace and enjoy a delicious lunch, which we have done before. Highly recommended.

Part of an old Trappist monastery with a very nice outdoor area with seating. The service is very friendly and attentive. There are small, delicious snacks, cakes, coffee and various cold drinks. A gem and an insider tip for cyclists right behind the border between Kaltenkirchen and Venlo. Always happy!

Heerlijk rustig terras, het is een klooster dus oud maar ik vond dat beetje gedateerde erbij horen. Lekker geborreld, pilsje wijntje erbij. Later wat gegeten. Eten vond ik niet duur, kaasplankje en olijfjes wel gezien wat je ervoor kreeg. Wel lekker, dat dan weer wel.

Nice and quiet terrace, along the monastery and lots of greenery. Sometimes a car. Enjoy some drinks, olives and a cheese board. Then we decided to eat something, stew with rice and pasta, gorgonzola spinach and oyster mushrooms and espresso. Food was delicious. There is also a quite extensive abbey shop, unfortunately only open on Wed Thu and Sat.

Very bad service and even a bit hostile. Afther a journey we sat down for a drink and something to eat. When the waitress came to our table we were asked if we had a reservation with we didn't have and by the look of it not needed one as only two tables were occupided and no reservation signs were placed. She told us that she could not serve us as we didn't have a reservation. So far for the hospitality. First time and sure the last time for us to be at Oelespot.

We arrived at 7:15 PM, almost all tables were empty and there was no reserved sign anywhere. So we just pick something up only to be turned away because we didn't make a reservation? There was no reserved sign anywhere on the tables. Bad! We were also not asked whether we wanted an extensive meal or just a snack or drink. Then put reserved plates on the table, be clear.

Vorige week was top en deze week zeer matig. Vriendelijke bediening maar geen echt inzicht, weinig professioneel. Het blijft vreemd dat er geen prijzen op de menukaarten staan.

Oplichters! Pas op: geen prijs op menukaart! Zoek het maar met de qr code op, mijn moeder geen idee waar ze het over had en dus bestelt vrolijk iets. Blijkt salade 18 ,00 euro te kosten . De coca cola was ook schandalig, 0.2 ml ipv 0,33 het glas wat erbij hoorde was ook miniem. Dan valt het verschil minder op? duidelijk een toeristenval. Genoeg toeristen die maar een keer komen zodat er toch niet geklaagd wordt.

We only ate cake and drank coffee and tea. There is a menu with various food and drinks and a large selection of beers from various Trappist monasteries. Due to the structure, the ambience is not that nice, sometimes you have the feeling of being on a thoroughfare. The waitresses are friendly and some also speak German.

There's something that attracts me. The cozy atmosphere. The friendly service. And you can even order food for the dog.
