What a sad experience. Reserved and indicated that it was a birthday. Cold deserted atmosphere upon arrival, we understood this better when we went home. Extremely uninterested staff who are visibly just scrolling on the phone in between. For the significantly higher price you pay, the food was really substandard. "Marinated" doesn't mean, pile sauce on top of meat and see how you distribute it. No desserts included (from 8.50) while the website menu clearly states a chocolate dessert without an extra charge. And also no way to have fun for the birthday in any way. We weren't expecting fireworks or anything, but you can expect to want to please your guests in some way, right? A real shame, and we won't be coming back because of this. If you want to eat something in between because you are going to the cinema or a football match, that's fine, but you really don't have to do it for the taste or atmosphere. Not for this price.

Food was tasty, but the pieces of meat were very small. Sushi was good. We were in a drafty place which was very annoying for the atmosphere. The service was friendly, I just think it was very slow due to staff shortages

I am very disappointed in this case. We order for 7 people for a nice Christmas dinner and are seated at 2 separate tables. We started asking if there was no other way, but that wasn't possible. Had I known this I would not have made a reservation. For €48.50 per person, I can at least expect to sit at one table with my family at Christmas. Explanation of how it works was also minimal, the site did not work properly. Not to mention how disappointing the food was. So we don't come here anymore.

Delicious dinner on Christmas Eve. Worth repeating.

Used to be one of the best sushi places in Rotterdam and one of my personal all-time favorite dine in, all you can eat places. Great and relaxed atmosphere with a open floor plan you feel like you are sitting far enough from other guests. The advertised odor-free grlling works. The Calpis drink is e a must try. However food variety has gone down-hill and desert used to be included, not anymore sadly.

Food takes way too long to be served (over 30 minutes). This is why we were only able to order 4 rounds instead of 5, in the 2 hours. Our orders were also canceled multiple times, and this cost us also time. The meat and squid is being served in 1 trey. No regards for cross contamination. Most of the time, you don't even know even if you received all the meat you ordered because it's all being served in 1 trey. The meat is seasoned with a weird type of seasoning that makes it inedible. I have been to many Asian restaurants, and this is by far the worst tasting meat. No deserts are included in the buffet. For the price of 40 euros, you would think it would. The sushi was the only good thing, but for this price, there are many other better restaurants. To be fair i did go on a busy day, but that does not excuse all the above-mentioned problems. Alternatives: for 5 euros less, you can go to Sumo or ShabuShabu. For 8 euros more you can go can go to an all you can out Korean barbeque which had better qaulity fish and meats. And also includes deserts.

Food on the table quickly, food is tasty, and good atmosphere

Food, service and ambiance are on point. You have a fixed time to enjoy your food. But with the rapid service of this restaurant it's no issue. I will be back

Quality of the food is excellent. Service is also good. The only thing I'd change is not counting side dishes as part of your order. Each person can order 4 things per round, but if you want lettuce or another side dish with your meat, you only have 3 choices left.

Overall experience left much to be desired, broken table, broken crockery. Meat is all on one plate without explanation, chicken and beef together on one plate. Food and drinks are not served even though they have been ordered or vice versa. Cocktails with alcohol in them looked like there wasn't a drop of alcohol in them at all. All in all, it was disappointing and I personally thought the price was on the very high side. Sent an email with my experience, but received no response at all.

Nice restaurant and nice owner who takes into account people who have had a stomach reduction, so this is one of the regular places for our family to eat.

Management and service is a drama. Orders take a long time to arrive and are incomplete. Tables are hardly cleared between orders.

We went here to celebrate my birthday, and I love it, we got nice cocktails, a good bottle of wine. Staff really had patience with everything because I changed a lot of things a lot of times.. But luckily they were really really nice and patient. The food was delicious and you had many variations. Different type of meats and sushi’s, we had a great evening and for sure will come back!

When I went to eat for the first time, I found the atmosphere very cold and unpleasant I found the food very disappointing, just like the explanation, we were able to go straight away without a reservation, but would not go there a second time. The food came quite quickly and was manageable. We had to pay extra for a number of dishes that were not indicated. If you ask a question, you know. staff nothing and are not at all enthusiastic in their work, unfortunately not worth repeating

After reading the reviews I didn't know what to expect. One is positive and the other doesn't like it. So here is our experience; Upon arrival we were able to sit down immediately. The benches are in a kind of alcove, which gives you a nice feeling of privacy. It was briefly explained that you can scan the dishes via the QR code and our BBQ plate was turned on. The drinks, but also the ordered dishes, quickly came to our table. The service is fine. In between, our baking paper on the plate was replaced. The food was tasty. There is a choice of spicy, seasoned meat or without. The meat is very tender and has a good taste. You get several thin slices/cubes, but logical according to the concept, otherwise you would be so full. This makes it a nice share dining and you can try everything. The sushi is not excellent, but just good. There are many different types of fish, meat or vegetarian options. You have to pay extra for the desserts. So assume that you will spend at least €50 per person. Whether it is completely worth it is of course different for everyone. We had a delicious meal and a nice evening.

Boring, no sound, food that is impossible to eat. Please don't come here. You pay a ridiculous amount of money for food that doesn't even taste good. Portions are also to die for (1 sushi piece 'no roll' per round). Food is served very late.

Bad service! Food was not tasty and arrived cold. Drinks cost €3+ and a water costs €4. Food arrived late every time, had to wait at least 10/15 minutes for my order. I won't be coming back here!

Went to eat at this amazing restaurant with my girlfriend for our 5 year anniversary and we got suprised with a free delicious mocktail as a gift from a sweet waitress❤️ the service was amazing, the staff is very friendly, the food was very delicious, the fish & meats were very fresh and good quality, overall this restaurant gets a 5/5 star review from me, will go and eat here again soon!

Unfortunately I had a bad experience at Oniku in Rotterdam. I was very disappointed with the Japanese food: the quality was substandard and not at all what I expected for the price you pay. The atmosphere was too businesslike and cheerless, and the staff was mediocre. For that amount of money I really expected more. Definitely not recommended.

The food was good, not spectacular, but just good. The servers were grumpy and inexperienced. We arrived 5 times with something we had not ordered....

The idea is very nice. It gives something to do. I think meat/fish could be a little more seasoned. Sometimes it was a bland taste. Very friendly staff and very tasty drinks.

Have been a frequent visitor to Oniku since they opened and I have to say they have gone downhill in quality of service and food (while prices have skyrocketed, 37 euros is crazy). With each visit I notice a decline, I don't even know where to start. Firstly, the staff has become more impersonal, don't talk clearly enough, forget to turn on the grill, forget to give our grabs for the meat (this was done automatically before). One of my friends grabbed the raw meat with her chopsticks because she didn't know any better. The manager also used to come to your table for a chat to see if everything was okay. Secondly, the menu is sparser and emptier, stews have disappeared, tataki has disappeared and a number of dishes/sushi. The ready-made meat dishes have almost all disappeared, you are now completely at the mercy of raw meat without a tasty marinade, sauce and garnish that you still have to grill yourself. The portions per round have been greedily reduced. Now infinite rounds, so you can compensate for that. Korean ribeye has been reduced to 2 pathetic slices with no real taste. I can say the same about the other grill dishes. Overall, I don't think the grill is worth the money you pay. You would rather order the ready-made meat dishes, but they are no longer available. So Oniku now has cocktails available, which was not there before. I went for the piña colada for 8.50 (my favorite cocktail) and honestly it felt like I was drinking pineapple juice (and I don't like pineapple juice but I do like piña colada). There was very little rum and only a dash of coconut milk/cream. The friend who is very sensitive to alcohol could taste that there was very little alcohol in it. It just tasted the same as the virgin pina colada and it was 2 euros cheaper. Conclusion, a robbery of your money, because of course you pay 8.50 because of the alcohol and that was barely there. After dinner we wanted to have dessert and at Oniku you can get a free scoop of ice cream. So we wanted to go for our favorite flavors, which is sesame and matcha. We were then told that they are not available for the free scoop of ice cream, but that you have to pay money for it (those flavors belong to a separate dessert). You could only choose between chocolate, strawberry and vanilla, the cheapest and most boring flavors of course. So I skipped dessert. This was yet another disappointment in one evening and made me remember why I no longer wanted to eat at Oniku. Now it really is the last time. I believe that new visitors should realize what they are missing and that is why I have written this extensive review. A total of 167 euros given for 3 people. We didn't feel satisfied (bad cocktail, no dessert, boring meat for the grill and sloppy service). This can be better Oniku. Your first concept (before all you can eat), yakiniku, the Japanese way, was the best.

Food is more than fine, service is terrible! Unfriendly and incompetent staff. The atmosphere in the restaurant is also minimal, there is no music on and minimal decoration.

Not much choice for small children.

The meat was good. It is served/presented slightly differently than what you order in the picture. It is therefore difficult to see exactly what is what. I'm not a big fan of sushi, but my wife really liked the sushi.

Truly an experience to eat here. There are so many delicious dishes to choose from that it is almost difficult what you want to order each round. Everything is delicious. And even though there are grills on everywhere, it is a comfortable temperature. The atmosphere is very relaxed and because the tables are not close together you have a bit of privacy. Definitely a restaurant you should visit at least once.

Had a delicious meal here on my birthday. Parking at the cockpit is free, provided there is no competition. Oniku doesn't really have a view outside (at least not where we were sitting) but the atmosphere inside is also very nice! The service was great and the food fantastic!

Oniku BBQ in Rotterdam was our first time and we really enjoyed it. Enough variety of meat and tasty sushi. Sushi was slightly smaller in size than you are used to, which makes it nicer so that you can taste more other dishes. We have tried almost all Kalpis drinks. From strawberry, mango, cassis, mango etc. to mojitos. You get large filled glasses which you don't often see or experience at a restaurant and that is a plus! With your smartphone you scan the table QR code for the menu on your phone, then enter your name and your other table companions do the same and order. You can choose 4 items per person and then click on order. Child can do the laundry. The order menu on your smartphone is clearly and simply set up as if you ordered your products on bollletje dot com or amazonnetje. Ordered BBQ meat dishes are modest and of excellent quality. The four of us tried all the BBQ meat dishes. With a piece of lettuce that you get at the table, you can put your grilled meat dishes in it with a little sauce on top and enjoy. You can enjoy it for 2 hours with a waiting time of 10 minutes after each ordering round. I don't understand the negative reviews about Oniku at all. Some people really complain about nothing or have to vent because those people have looked sour all their lives. Sushi is fresh and nori sheets just soften as sushi rice sits in them. It couldn't possibly be crunchy. Ever heard of Condens? Another person with her review who does not understand how the QR code on the table works... there are so many restaurants that also use such a QR code and such as Eazie takeaway wok restaurant, clothing stores also use it and after all, we live in 2024 and are still illiterate ? Whining about small sushi... should they be bigger? That you are full after 2 bites... that's how they are nice and delicious. Enough space for all other tasty dishes. Staff are friendly and helpful. They regularly walked by and asked us if we wanted to change the baking paper. Plus point! Grill setting 3 is the best option for delicious grilling. If the meat is on top, set it to 4 or 5. For faster cooking. If the dishes are sufficiently cooked or almost finished, set the grill setting to 1 so that the baking paper does not burn. Take all those negative reviews with a grain of salt. At our work you also occasionally have those curmudgeons who just complain and don't want to understand or want to learn. But understand how DigiD works... Last October I went to Japan, Hong Kong and China and they have been working there for years and only with QR codes. And there it is all already accepted and the most normal thing of the day. This was a farewell dinner for a colleague who is going to America to study for 10 months. We're going to miss her. All in all, I will definitely come back with other friends. Meat quality was good and tasty. However, when ordering various dishes, everything arrived at the table except the meat in the beginning, after asking a few times, because the servant kept forgetting, the meat ordered from the first round arrived with the ordered dishes from the third round. Portions are a bit small, so it's useful to keep ordering regularly as 2 hours pass quickly. Sushi was not really freshly prepared, nori sheets were soft. For us it was a one-time visit.

I mean its alright and close to a lot of facilities like the cinema but the food is mid at most and nobody serves your food with a smile. Paid 100 euro for 2 persons without Alcohol which is too expensive for the quality of the food. Only good thing is the location so dont go out of your way to go here

I actually wanted to write a slightly better review, but the lady behind the counter suddenly left us all with a very bad taste in our mouths. What a terrible human being.. I never experienced this, as if we had done something wrong. 1 person was 9 years old, she calculated her as an adult person. When we told her she was 9, she gave us a dirty look for 10 seconds as if we were lying. When I said (to make it a bit more fun), what did you think was her age? No answer.. kiI said laughing again, what was he thinking? Suddenly I got a very nasty look towards us again with a somewhat mumbling sound. Really didn't know what she said.. All in all, just avoid it.

Awesome! Lots of space wbt seating, good food. Meat not "sauced to death", but every dish well and appropriately seasoned. Operation is fine. Wide choice with, in addition to BBQ dishes, also good salads and super sushi. And ultimately received a bill that was lower than someone else's. I am a fan!

The portions of the food do not match how it looks on the menu, especially by the amount... The taste isn't bad, but nothing special either. For sure Oniku has changed compared to the previous years where the quality was much better.

Very tasty food and good service, upon receipt I received an explanation immediately, ordered and the ordered food and drinks were on the table throughout the evening within 5 minutes of ordering. Literally the only thing we had to complain about was that there was a draft in the restaurant, which made it very cold.

We haven't even been there for an hour tonight, it really wasn't nice. very little choice of sushi and the desserts had to be paid for separately, like many of their products. was not value for money. it was our anniversary of getting married then it was an even bigger disappointment. waste of your money

Great location and beautiful restaurant and booths. BUT!!! I’ve been to many bbq concepts, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, western stuff. You get extremely small portions here compared to anywhere I’ve been. On my opinion this wasn’t a problem because you can try more dishes and not get full. But still very strange! Also you didn’t get what was shown on the menu pictures. Some stuff didn’t look alike at all. Bbq meat is nothing special. Pieces so small and few that you can barely cook them the right away. They do have plenty choices though. Fried stuff was all good. If you order sides, this counts as a dish in your rounds and not as an extra side??! So you can order 4 things per round. But sides also count. I’ve never seen this?? Seaweed salad was barley any seaweed. Just a small amount on a huge bed of lettuce. Drinks were good. Servers were nice to us. Didn’t have a problem there. Very strange that you still need to pay for dessert though, 2 euro for a scoop of icecream. Other choices were up to 8 euros… and were nothing special. Just icecream too.

Regular spot for BBQ and sushi, food is always great. You get quite large portions and you don't get full so quickly because they are not large pieces so you can eat more. Sushi and side dishes are also delicious, especially the popcorn shrimp. A really nice restaurant, especially if you want to go with the family.

The meat is delicious, the waiting time is short and the pieces are of good quality. The atmosphere is great and very reserved at each table. However, the "menu" system is a bit inadequate, as it can only be used via a QRcode and always on the same cell phone, which would make it boring if there is a large group. Better not eat here! When we just finished eating we saw a mouse!!!!! This came from the bench diagonally across from us. The waiter pointed out that there was a mouse walking around, but the response was very nonchalant: "I'm going to pass it on". Then no one comes to take a look or ask where the mouse came from and where it went!!!! Unfortunately we were already done otherwise I would never have gone here!!! NB! P.s. Unfortunately I was unable to take a photo due to panic over fear of mice.

Had dinner here yesterday evening and I really expected something better for such a restaurant in a top location. There was no such thing as a warm welcome. We were asked if we were familiar with the concept, but when we indicated that we were not, we only said, you can scan this QR code and place your orders that way. It was not explained how the BBQ worked. Furthermore, the service was really not good. The employees are too busy with themselves and instead of the buzz of guests from the restaurant, you only heard laughter and loud talking from the employees behind the bar. This makes the atmosphere not pleasant at all and you almost feel reluctant to raise your hand to ask for something. The food was also really substandard, the sushi was dry and not fresh and the portions of meat you get are small. In contrast to the pictures of the menu. The only tasty things were the drinks and dessert, which of course you pay separately for. This is not included in the price.

Went here yesterday evening and we were received and treated very poorly. At first we were not given any explanation about the concept, we just sat there waiting for someone to come. No one from the staff came, we ultimately had to ask for clarity ourselves. Secondly, we often missed things that we had ordered. Asked several times for an employee, but no one came to help us. Thirdly, the leaves that were on the BBQ burned constantly. Tried several times to call an employee for this. Unfortunately, no one came to help us. We indicated to an employee that we no longer wanted the gyoazas. He then said “my colleagues are now chopping them”. In the end we got the gyozas with chicken, even though we no longer wanted it because it was not halal. The sushi was not made fresh, tasted very old and the bbq pieces were very small. Very strange service, not customer friendly and the food is definitely not worth going there. This restaurant is not recommended.

First time I ate there it was tasty but not wow. Staff could be friendlier because they don't smile, which is a shame. Also ruins the atmosphere of a nice place. Beautiful decor and beautiful murals.

The BBQ is not like shown on menu. Some of the menu literally came only 1 slice of meat. Also the taste was not good. One chicken katsu served cold. Only sushi tasted better.

The nice thing about our visit here is we could have both sushi and BBQ all you can eat at one place! The choices for both sushi and meat are not that much, but they surely serve good quality of meat. Most sushi also tasted good with a right amount of sushi rice (some places might give you a bunch of rice just to make you stop eating haha!). Another plus point is we could have two scoops of ice cream for dessert :)

3x nothing. It's very dirty. Late service. Old sushi before rolled, tasted like bubble gum. Old fashioned and not a nice atmosphere. And everything came in aluminum containers and not nicely on a plate as you see in the photos.

This place doesn't understand customer experience. It's not worth the price. The food was okay. I like the sweet sour cucumbers. It really soaked up on flavor, although it was a tad too sweet. Most of the meat taste okay but it's adjusted to Western taste (sweet marinade). The fried prawn was oily though. The fried rice was really plain, it lacked ingredients. Uncle Roger would disapprove. What really showing is that they don't understand what it's like for customer. The pictures on the menu doesn't match with what you get. E.g. the picture of the beef rolls show multiple beef rolls, the name literally says beef ROLLS. But you only get one beef roll. Other dishes like you can get multiple items, so it's really confusing. They have really rough wooden chopsticks. No scissors to cut up the meat. The beef rolls were fine at first. When you order more, you will get more and more onion instead of enoki mushrooms in the rolls. At the last round, we counted 4 onion pieces in one beef roll. The unagi sushi was the smallest I've ever seen. You have to pay additionally for dessert (2 euro for a scoop of icecream). Some pros: the exhaust is on the side of the grlling area, unlike the pipe in the middle at Korean bbq restaurants. They do constantly change the baking paper. We got extra candies.

Went to dinner with the 4 of us yesterday. What a disappointment, no explanation at all how it worked. Not a warm impression. Quality of food was very disappointing and then a bottle of iced tea cost 3.80?? Next time somewhere else.

Food is good, but time is short, it took a long time before we got anything. The atmosphere was still Christmas and the toilets old and dirty.

It takes a while before you get the food, and you can only order again after 10 minutes. It's also quite a bit that you get each time. It's fun to do, but we thought it was too expensive for what you get.

You can enjoy good food here for a normal price. Service is fast and good. We were 9 people and were unfortunately divided over 2 tables. Toilets are neat and clean. Enough parking (paid).

This really isn't worth your money! The food does not match what you see on the website and the staff is rubbish. I rather recommend Seoul Sista much better quality and value for money.

So this place was pretty disappointing, I was hyped to go here and to have a decent meal with some friends, but sadly, my experience was not that great. The food was overrated, in my opinion. It looks good, but the taste was pretty "meh" not going to lie. Not only that, the service was also so bad. They were so unfriendly. It felt like they wanted to kick us out. I have never experienced such bad service before. We also tried contacting them, but nobody was picking up the phone. So another bad experience regarding service. Personally, I only recommend this place if you like paying for food that looks good and like paying for looking around in the restaurant. (Recommend for people that have money to just waste essentially) Overall, it was a bad experience, and I don't recommend it. No hate to the restaurant, just my honest review.

I was going to eat here, but only when you make a reservation do you see that you can eat for a maximum of 2 hours. So I wondered if that is the case, because it is not clearly stated anywhere on the site or if the reservation system takes this as an average. Further reserved and added this as a question. No answer. Called several times at different times (9x). No answer. Mail. No answer. Really worthless... I now want to cancel my reservation, because we are not going to travel all that way just to sit there for 2 hours. (I want to be able to eat somewhere quiet and especially chat.) But cancellation is not possible anywhere! What a service...

Veel te duur. De prijs kwam niet overeen met de vermeldde prijs op de website. Het eten was kwalitatief goed, maar we gaan dit nooit meer doen. Voor dit bedrag heb ik al veel.beter gegeten.

All you can eat concept. Met bbq/grill. Bestellen via een link op je telefoon. Aardig personeel en lekker!! Gisteren met kerst geweest. Welkomstdrankje en lekker toetje. Rest zoals we gewend zijn.

Wat is het een prachtig aangekleed restaurant. Het eten is heerlijk, super mals en je plaat wordt goed schoongehouden. Ook de coktails zijn waar voor je geld! Wij hebben heerlijk gezeten, gegeten en genoten! We raden je zeker aan om hier te gaan eten als je iets nieuws wilt proberen!

Heb hier recent heerlijk gegeten, service was prima. Sommige stukjes vlees vond ik persoonlijk erg klein/dun gesneden, sushi was top. Locatie ook leuk !

Mooie en propere locatie met een all-you-can-eat concept. Veel verschillende vleessoorten om te grillen. Wat opviel is dat er geen varkensvlees geserveerd wordt. Lekkere drankjes ook. Na een avondje eten had ik echter wel genoeg vlees gehad voor een tijdje.

Goed gegeten, had wel meer variatie verwacht qua vis/vlees bij de BBQ. Vlees en vis is van goede kwaliteit.

Over het algemeen is het echt geweldig. Het eten is erg goed en de kwaliteit van het vlees is ook de beste in een restaurant dat ik altijd heb gevoeld. Het enige nadeel is dat de porties in elke ronde een beetje klein zijn en dat de ober dat niet lijkt te doen Ik ben erg gepassioneerd over zijn werk en is een beetje uitdrukkingsloos, maar ik zal het de volgende keer doen. Zal weer komen :)

Leuk sushi/grill restaurant. Prima sushi een uitgebreide kaart volgens bekende concept. Zelf vlees grillen is een leuke aanvulling Lokatie was mooi. Sfeer binnen niet bijzonder. Daarbij ook erg koud.

Eten is oke maar niet bijzonder. De sfeer is net zoals bij vrijwel alle all you can eat (niet echt gezellig dus) restaurants. En dus in verhouding veel te prijzig.

Combinatie sushi en Korean BBQ is altijd goed! Lekkere sushi 🍣 Veel bbq gerechtjes en goed vlees. Heel erg lekker (en veel te veel) gegeten.

Super goede ervaring gehad, vond het personeel vooral heel vriendelijk, dat zie je de laatste tijd bijna nergens! Het eten was ook heerlijk, heel leuk om eens zo aan tafel zelf te bakken, super handig dat je met een app bestelt dan kun je rustig kijken en overleggen en er rijdt ook een robot rond die serveert, dat vonden onze kinderen natuurlijk helemaal geweldig. Wij komen zeker terug!

Eten wordt mooi geserveerd. Het vlees is wat aan de flauwe kant. De rijst met vlees en groeten is erg pittig. De sushi was heerlijk. We waren er op een zondagavond en het was nog niet eens heel druk, maar in de zaak is het wat lawaaierig. De bediening is erg vriendelijk.

Overpriced for the small portions and low quality of food. Expected more than a couple of slices of meat and two pieces of sushi roll per order. The Kimchee was flavorless and the Gyoza tasted like it was from a frozen packet. The staff were clearly uninterested. There are far better Korean Barbeque and Japanese Sushi places in Rotterdam. Will not be going back.

Eten was heel erg goed en leuk dat je het zelf kan grillen. Duurde wel heel erg lang en kregen niet alle gerechten die we besteld hadden.
