Very nicely decorated, giving the restaurant a really great atmosphere. The service was incredibly pleasant and the food really excellent. The pork belly is the absolute highlight!

They say: if you have nothing positive to say, it’s better to say nothing. But given that I get 2 reminders in a day to leave a review, you can expect it. So here it is: I had to ask for the menu 3 times (mind you, besides me, there was only 1 other table at that moment…) to be told it was on its way, but it still took a while. By now, the wait staff is checking the menu board 3 times. After the starter, my main course was forgotten; only the side / extra was served (after an hour). After indicating that I didn't want the main course anymore because it was all taking too long, the chef threw it on the table 3 minutes later anyway. Completely tasteless, the outside significantly burnt (and no, in the way it’s supposed to be). Not once was anyone asked if I wanted another drink. They came to ask afterwards, overly happy, if I had enjoyed it… what do you think?

The price is on the high side for what you get. 30 euros for a steak that definitely wasn't 200 grams. Half a carrot, a piece of broccoli, and 1 cherry tomato. A small bowl of fries for 1 person. They consider them for 2. I asked for the meat well-done, but I still got it raw. As a result, they take it back while others are already finished eating. My food is ready. Consequently, the vegetables on your plate are cold. Very cold inside. The air conditioning was on while several other customers were already finding it cold. For us, it was a one-time thing, and never again.

What delicious starters on the menu, a difficult choice. I'll go for the chef's platter then. (It must be good considering the selection of starters). What a disappointment, the dishes were very simple, nothing that was on the menu, plus the BBQ sausage. Makes the letdown complete. The main course was fine.

We had dinner on my birthday with 5 adults and 3 small children. The hearty BBQ Platter tasted excellent and the fisherman’s choice at the time was Grilled Tuna😋 We all had our food brought to us at the same time by 2 or 3 waiters, which is also very important! With some desserts and delicious coffee with a little extra afterwards, it was a successful evening. For a Tuesday, it was busy there, which I hadn't expected, a good sign👍🏼

Lovely restaurant! We chose the tapas, and at first we were joking about them being very small starters. But by the time we were halfway through, we were already quite full. A wonderful way to spend the evening, and the staff spontaneous and friendly! A solid 10!!!

Our last visit to Op Hete Kolen was quite a while ago. That is why we decided to drive to Deurne again yesterday for a lovely evening out for dinner. Upon entering, we were welcomed just like old times by the delicious aromas, the warm atmosphere, and the friendly staff. Being received in this way contributes so much to the enjoyment at the start of our evening out. Op Hete Kolen offers a wide variety of delicious dishes, wines, beers, and cocktails. Every dish was prepared with care. The presentation of the dishes is top-notch. The quality of every piece of meat on our plates was superb, and the taste sensation was just as good as we have come to expect from Op Hete Kolen. What a treat to come and eat here. We were truly waited on hand and foot all evening and enjoyed it immensely. Team Op Hete Kolen, thank you for this wonderful evening. We would love to come back again soon. Patrick and Katia

We thoroughly enjoyed the Tapas Evening. Just the two of us ordered as much variety as possible and had absolutely no complaints. We left feeling (heavily) satisfied.

We were in the mood for pork belly and asked the waitress if it was lactose-free/milk protein-free. She couldn't answer this and went to check with the chef. She actually added that we would know perfectly well ourselves what we can and cannot eat. She came back and said it was OK. After waiting for 15 minutes, someone else suddenly came to inform us that it wasn't possible after all (did she not dare to do it herself?). So, out of necessity, we had to order a more expensive dish, the pan-fried salmon, the only thing that was supposed to be lactose-free. When brought to the table, it turned out to be completely raw, not even slightly medium-rare. Unbelievable, and we paid over 60 euros for two! Never to be repeated. Not recommended.

We had the tasting. We've been doing that for years. But it is very meager now compared to the past. It's a shame, it was a nice concept. It is too expensive for what it is.

This was my first visit to "Op Hete Kolen," and it certainly won't be my last. Delicious, high-quality food. I especially enjoyed the meat, as it was not only of excellent quality but also cooked to perfection. First-class service! Just as I'm used to from Brazil. Very friendly staff—you feel right at home from your very first visit.

The burrata with cherry tomatoes was a bit too cold, the fries too salty, and the coffee was nowhere to be found in the Italian iced coffee. The service was good (friendly man) and the tournedos was cooked just right. The tournedos is, however, on the expensive side for a small piece.

SERIOUSLY delicious food. My girlfriend and I had been together for 10 years and we celebrated that just the two of us. A barbecue platter with the tastiest pork belly, delicious spare ribs, a piece of tender juicy steak, and a satay skewer. Portions are perfect and served nicely on a wooden board.

We ordered 2 cups of coffee and later ordered apple pie (asked if it came from the bakery and that was confirmed); I was looking forward to it. After 20 minutes, the supermarket apple pie arrived. A disappointment. My husband ordered homemade mango tirasmisu. This was a deep plate with ladyfingers and a mousse resembling vanilla custard with whipped cream. Also homemade. Nah. Because it was 30 degrees outside, I asked for another glass of water with the coffee. The bill listed a charge of 50 cents for this. No service from this restaurant. Shame.

There were six of us; when the first three received their dishes, the other three had to wait another 20 minutes. And by then, it had cooled down: the soup was lukewarm.

Nachos pulled chicken as a starter, tasty. Beef tenderloin as a main course with lots of vegetables and hearty country herbs.

Fantastic food, went with a large group 16 people. Food came out all together for the entire group. If you like BBQ options this is the places. Would definitely eat here again. Only giving four stars for service due to the server spilling a drink on one of the members of the group but it happens to the best of us and we all laughed about it.

It was delicious! It's just a shame about the eggshell pieces in the minced meat of the burger. We understand how that happened, but we discussed it and really don't consider it a disaster; we would love to come back.

We had a really good meal here!

We had lunch here after a walk. The weather was nice. We took a seat on the terrace. Our drinks order was taken quickly and we were given the menu. However, we had to wait a long time for our drinks, and furthermore, the person delivering didn't know which table to deliver to. It took quite a while before we received our lunch. The croquette was lukewarm, as was the soup. A shame. I don't know if I will have lunch here again.

The lunch was excellent. The service is fine. We had to wait a long time for our food, hence one star less, but it was ultimately worth the wait. Easily accessible and the atmosphere is great. The price is good. Not too expensive. Recommended.

We've eaten here before, but tonight was terrible. You're seated at a table right by the back door. Then the smell of coals (BBQ when it's lit) fills your nose. And not in a pleasant way. As if the extractor fan couldn't keep up. The smoke alarm went off several times. Very annoying. The team clearly hadn't gotten used to each other yet. One person was at the bar looking at her phone. After ordering my coke, it sat on the bar for a long time. I even spoke to the staff about it. We had four different staff members at our table, instead of a regular one. The red wine we ordered was mistaken for white!? The broad-shouldered chef was the loudest of everyone in the restaurant. And he acted as if the restaurant was still closed. Anyway, we asked for a dessert menu. And after we got it, the staff forgot about us. After 10 minutes, our patience was gone. We paid and left. We were extremely disappointed. So, we won't be back. Clothes that smell of coal can go straight into the wash.

The food was good, but the service was unfortunately not great. We were shown to our table, but then didn't receive a drink order or menu for fifteen minutes. After that, we didn't really feel "taken care of" the entire evening, which is something you expect in a restaurant like this. It's a real shame, and as a result, we're likely to go elsewhere next time.

I didn't find the food particularly special or tasty. I expected more. The fried shrimp was quite greasy, the hamburger was lukewarm and dry. Serving a full house with a cheerful atmosphere, and so quickly too. Kipsaté, the best Dutch cuisine. This was my second time here on a cycling tour, and I'll definitely be back.

We sat by the window on the street side. It was very cold. The plates weren't very warm, so the food got cold very quickly. One bowl of fries for two people is really small. We ordered more, but... we paid €3.50! With the sea bass and scallop... we only found two slivers of scallop! The vegetables were also cold!

The chicken satay was smoked. It wasn't listed on the menu, and I didn't like it either. I think that should have been made clear beforehand, because you get something you're not expecting at all.
