Oscar Bakery in Oude Stad

What a shame. There's an Oscars with a coffee shop in the Grote Markt square that could look very inviting, but unfortunately, it's not well-maintained. The tables and floor are dirty, chairs are scattered, and what should be on each table, like flowers and cards, is scattered on the tables. The music isn't relaxing and is far too loud. The coffee, cakes, and bread are delicious, but it's a disappointment to have to sit there like that. If it were well-maintained, it would be truly atmospheric.

The service was terrible, even though the food was good, they brought us our coffees when we had finished and it was not what we had ordered.

Bustling cafe with very good coffees, tasty filled rolls and croissants; and very friendly staff! Would definitely go again!

This was the only coffee shop I could find open at 7 AM — a real lifesaver for an early start! The coffee was decent, and the pastries were enjoyable as well. Seating is quite limited, so it might not be ideal for a long sit-down, but it works well for a quick stop. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the positive experience.

Today I got a delicious cappuccino to go. Immediately bought their homemade granola. Great store!

SPLENDID!!! Such an amazing bakery. When I drank the cappuccino here i realized that the coffees ive been drinking were just warm but here it was actually hot and i loved it. The cappuccino also tasted amazing, best coffee ive had in the netherlands so far. In addition to this, oatmeal cookie tasted very good and im a kind of person who gets a bit hesitant when it comes to healthier alternatives in desserts. Pain au chocolat was very tasty as well. I will definitely visit here again!!

Visited Oscar and had mixed feelings. The apple pastry was incredibly juicy and flavorful. Unfortunately, the pistachio croissant and the cinnamon roll were quite dry and disappointing, lacking the softness and richness you’d expect. Wouldn’t recommend those. A bit of an uneven experience.

The dough is a dream no matter what type. Whether yeast, butter dough or shortcrust pastry.

The entire sandwich was a complete disappointment. It is impossible to eat the entire sandwich.

We bought 2 focaccias to take away, but when we got home we discovered that our order was incorrect. My friend ordered a meat sandwich, but was then given a meager sandwich topped with eggplant and zucchini. A bit sad :(

Such a shame, we are really fans of Oscar, but sometimes they miss the mark with inedible bread 🤔

Good pastries. Croissants are more like a brioche rather than the butter french croissant, but I like it anyway.

They touch food with bare hands, I got really bad stomach bug after eating croissants. How hard is to use gloves or kitchen tools?!

An excellent place to have an early breakfast and start the day with positive energy. The sweet croissants filled with apples or pistachios are delicious and the savory ones with spinach and cheese are finger-licking. Very friendly staff!! Highly recommended if you go to Haarlem!!

Please hand Oscar an Oscar! Where are the golden statutes for those perfecting gluten and caffeine? Oscar’s is small and packed with flavor, I ordered so much I wouldn’t even been able to tell you what I got but at 15 euros it was a steal! Note that they don’t bake the bread fresh here and that some of the desems (if you’re a real snob) can feel a bit light to the bite It’s not quite fort 9 but it’s a good reliable place and the coffee is speciality coffee level

The Oscar bread has become a lot smaller in recent weeks. No longer in proportion to the price. Very unfortunate! My advice is also to turn the music down a lot. Last week it was so loud that you had to shout loudly to hear each other. When I asked to turn the music down I was given a glassy look. Several customers were also bothered by the loud music. This is no longer background music and customer unfriendly. The 3 young employees still have something to learn 😉

This is the real bakery. Beautiful store with beautiful and tasty products. Special savory sandwiches that not only look great but also taste great. Just like the different breads and the sweet range. You have to pay something for it because it is not very cheap. But you definitely get value for your money. Pleasant and friendly staff, what more could you want? 😊

Terrible tent. Today I was in one of the branches in Haarlem. Unfriendly staff. When I asked if my sausage roll could be warmed up (because it was ice cold), I was told that the oven had already been turned off. Huh? Already at 11 in the morning? No thank you or please was said to other customers, staff is out of touch and uninterested. I'll never come here again.

Oscar Bakery in Haarlem is an absolute gem! Their products are simply top-notch. Whenever you're in Haarlem, this place is a must-visit. My personal favorites are their delicious cookies (koeken in Dutch) and the heavenly olive bread. One thing to keep in mind is that these goodies can be in high demand and might sell out quickly, so it's a good idea to go earlier in the day. But honestly, I'm not surprised at all because everything they bake is incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor. Don't miss out on this bakery when you're in Haarlem!

Nice bakery in the heart of Haarlem. I bought 2 pain au chocolat, 2€ each. They were good but I had higher expectations. Not so flakey anymore at 10:30 in the morning and completely cold, as if they had been made hours in advance.

The croissant and the coconut puff were heaven on earth, sinply incredible. I found the perfect croissant in Netherlands. The coconut little cake was both melting in your mouth and keeping some of the delicious crunchiness. The typical pie with meat, that I can't recall the name was not for my taste, but I could appreciate the quality of the pastry and meat and the combination. Very recommended.

Was passing through Haarlem and went to the first bakery that appeared to have freshly made croissants(not as common as one would like in the Amsterdam area). This was jackpot. The Madelines are excellent too.

Normaal vind ik het brood erg lekker maar van de week een brood gekocht wat niet gaar was aan de binnenkant, dat zou ik niet verwachten bij een bakker die al flink aan de prijs is… De mensen die er werken zijn wel altijd ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam!

Lekkere Croissantjes! Matige service. Bij een simpele vraag, bijvoorbeeld: "Zouden jullie dit glazen flesje wat ik hier net 2 minuten geleden heb gekocht even weg kunnen gooien voor me?" word je neerbuigend aangekeken alsof je helemaal gek bent geworden en krijg je de mededeling "wij hebben hier geen glasbak". Ofwel, we verkopen graag 'luxe' flesjes water, maar het afval probleem los je zelf maar op. Volgende keer maar weer een croissantje aan de overkant! :)
