Pancakes and Burgers in Burgwallen-Oude Zijde

Expensive, not good, and the waiter (the older, overweight one) is very unpleasant, not to mention his questionable hygiene (handling money and food immediately afterward, touching the inside of glasses with his finger, wiping his nose in front of you with his sleeve)... My advice: keep walking.

Two coffee lattes for €10 that weren't good, and on top of that, I had to pay an extra €0.50 for card payment. The staff was not welcoming at all. I do not recommend it.

We arrived there and the waiter rudely greeted us. We sat down because we were already thirsty. We figured we could just have a drink at a café. Then we wanted to order, and the waiter simply told us they only serve food and we should find another café. NOT RECOMMENDED

Ham and cheese Toasty for breakfast, I didn't know such a simple dish could make me so happy. Some how soft and crispy. I got a fried egg and a cappuccino. Centrally located this a great place for nice brunch before i start acting like a tourist, I got to eat like a local. I will be back tomorrow and everyday till I leave

Tasty, well prepared food, portion size isn't too big. Fair value for money, and outside seating by the canal is available. Prompt and thoughtful service.

A cozy spot just outside the hustle and bustle to sit back and enjoy a bite to eat. A wide selection of pancakes and eggs. The fried mushrooms were delicious, and the toasted sandwich was excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive.

The food was good and fast. There was even a free ice cream for the little one. Excellent.

Overpriced coffees, aggressive waiters who are blatantly trying to squeeze their customers' wallets... A huge tourist trap.

The waiter was awful, and it was impossible to order a glass of water, so it cost €4.50 for water and €9 for a pint!!! Useless establishment, it's just lucky it's well located because otherwise it wouldn't have any customers. Great, keep it up!

Andres was the highlight of my Amsterdam experience

Andre is amazing, he was working hard and very nice.

All in all relatively expansive, Fries weren't fried properly and I didn't even get any cutlery to my sandwich, the server was also kind if incompetent. He spilled about 2 drinks in the 45 min it took for our food (a burger, a sandwich and a pancake) to arrive. He at least tried to create a positive atmosphere but was not successful. So not recommended

Such a great spot by the canal — chill vibe, amazing food, and super friendly staff. Everything felt relaxed but well taken care of. We just stopped for a drink and ended up staying for dinner. Would definitely come back next time in Amsterdam.

The table was dirty, and so the expensive glass of wine they served me. Sadly there are so many tourists that this place will always have customers. I should had read the opinions online before, I hope you will do it and go somewhere else

Absolutely outrageous! Guests were repeatedly asked, very rudely, to change tables, only for another table to fit more people. Beer costs €8. If you then give someone a tenner, you're asked a very strange question, "The rest is tip?" The burger didn't even have any toppings. Between the two soggy slices of bread was just meat, which didn't taste particularly good.

13€ for a cocktail which is a perfectly good price, but the strawberry daiqiri tasted way too sweet, was very small and felt like there was only syrup in it. Usually I get a cocktail like this that actually tastes like stale strawberries and more like slush. This one wasn't good. But the view was very nice towards the canal.

Nice place but a complete rip-off. The food is tasteless, the drinks are almost as expensive as the food, and they don't even refill them in front of you, so you don't know how new they are. NOT RECOMMENDED! Extremely expensive, and the toilets are awful, too.

8.50 euros for a beer... then they claim the credit card machine isn't working, and a little later we find out that despite reluctantly paying in cash, we've been charged a credit card fee. Pretty inappropriate, clearly a rip-off. I'm sorry I even left a tip. When asked, they say the fee is added as standard, so they're actually admitting to systematic rip-offs.

The manager forced us to take one drink per person: we had originally ordered 4 drinks for 5 people.

Run away! Even though there was tea/coffee on the menu and hot drinks were being drunk at the table next to us, we were told that hot drinks were finished. I don't understand how hot water for tea can run out! On top of that, when we wanted to order just one, we were told that there were 2 of us and you can't order just one. I've never seen worse in Amsterdam.

Food no good, no fresh ingredients just basic supermarket stuff for high prices. Most of the latest reviews are fake as well, only written by people leaving one review only for this place. Better places to visit in Amsterdam.

Bacon, cheese and hamburger omelettes, friendly boss, and small glasses of jaegermaster offered for adults and ice cream for the kids. Magnificent and cozy place with little background music. The gentleman is very kind and handsome (dixit Léa 😅🥳🥳 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). We hadn't read the comments and that's a good thing because it was a great experience. We had a blast.

We were handled a bill after one beer. The staff was aparently unhappy that we sat inside.

WE REFUSE TO SEPARATE THE NOTE One star because it’s on the canal and also because I wasn’t hungry when I left (or just disgusted). On the other hand, if the water in the canal was clearer, I would have drunk from it because I feel like I ate 4 spoons of very dry salt.

To avoid, this restaurant has no quality apart from the view which is not bad. Poor quality product perfect for tourists

The add extra charges to the bill and extra taxes without stating it anywhere. Also I ordered a Coca Cola, and was served fake cola..

The waiter was impatient and pushed us to order. He asked us as we sat down and again 1 minute later. After we told him we wanted to take a look, he stood next to us and tapped impatiently on the table. We didn't feel comfortable there and it pretty much ruined our little break.

The atmosphere outside is wonderfully. Service was excellent and food was delicious! I loved the bacon, mushroom and cheese pancake. It was also a big pancake (pannekoek). My mother in law had an omelette and it was large too. We also tried the toasties and my son loved the ham, cheese and tomato one. We did not try the burgers. Give the place a try, it is not 2.5 stars :)

4 of us visited here when we went to Amsterdam in January. The service and food was exemplary and the staff were so friendly. We went 2 mornings out of the 3 we were there. Location perfect as well.

In reality I was very unwelcome by many Dutch people but this was the worst, we sat down and asked for coffee, they told me that they don't serve hot drinks, but as the name suggests COFFEE, so we asked for 1 water because I just wanted coffee, they said that as there were two of us We had to ask for two waters to be seated, to which I replied, bring a water and we already left, summing up to neither one nor anything, he simply ignored, super arrogant, super rude, in fact when I sat down I mistook the employee for a homeless person….very much so. too bad to be true….

To flee !! It claims to make pancakes when it's just huge thick pancakes: more than 15th for the Nutella banana "pancake".. but without banana because no more banana but the price remains the same... Fortunately the boss is wrong price on the TPE, as a result the price was divided by 10. It was deserved, it was not worth more

Coffee bar on the canals of Amsterdam, excellent central location, you can eat and drink, medium-high prices...The service is not excellent however it is always very crowded...Recommended for drinking a beer 🍺 so quick 👍

Only one piece of advice to give, move on. Nice terrace but deplorable food and service. 1 hour wait to serve a lousy burger. The coke is served directly in a glass, no matter what.

Contrary to a lot of the reviews we actually had a great time here. The pancakes were delicious, we had one savoury and one sweet. We had coffees which were also nice. Possibly a little pricey but we were right on the canal. Good and prompt service.

Myself and husband come here every year for the pancakes.. they are out of this world! We arrived cold, tired, soaked from the rain & starving. The owner/waiter took us inside & lead us upstairs to a stunning private seating area. It was quiet at the time of night we arrived, so we were the only customers inside. He lit candle for us at our table & turned up the heating for us. The kitchen area was clean & tidy, the decor is beautiful & the owner couldn’t have been more accommodating. We love the food here and the owner/waiter is a lovely guy. All the premises by the river in amsterdam have a policy you must spend a certain amount because the rent is so high on these premises due to the popular location, the staff are not being mean or unfriendly when they ask you spend a little more to sit & eat in, so please do not focus too much on the negative reviews, give this place a try & make your own judgement, because as returning customers…. We love it! Thank you for the excellent service & food, we will be back again next year :)
