Great place to go with kids. Have multiple kid corners. Was even a bouncing castle at the time. A lot of green mowed lawn around for play.

Tasty pancakes. Not too thick. Very good taste. Friendly service and no long waits. Clean.

Food is oke. Service pretty bad. Look like they have mostly students that don't know much about serving customers and do the bare minimum. Prices are on the high end. Too bad the toys and kids activities aren't located in one place to its convenient for families to watch their kids rather than having to follow them throughout the restaurant.

VIBE. This is without a doubt a fantastic place to spend an afternoon with kids. If the weather isn't too wet there's usually a huge jumping castle in the field next to the terrace, which means kids can go nuts while you keep an eye on them from your table. Even without a jumping castle though, there are 3 different play areas (one inside, two outside) which are all under cover and the entire restaurant is surrounded by grass & trees so kids can run around & explore without going too far away from where you're eating. I'd say the play areas are fun for kids up to 7-8ish years old & the surrounding grassy areas are great for kicking a ball around, etc for older kids. FOOD. I find the kids' menu options much better than at most places. They don't just assume that all children only eat garbage, which I love & am so grateful for. My kids usually go for the chicken satay with cucumber, tomatoes, appelmoes & fries. Although we all miss the crunchy chicken kids' meal that they used to have! The pancakes are great. I'm not a big fan of any style of pancakes, but these are good. The rest of the menu is quite decent given this they are a self described pancake restaurant. Very decent burgers, omelettes, etc. SERVICE. Always friendly by Dutch standards. The clueless, deer-caught-in-headlights teenagers that usually dominate the Dutch hospitality industry are nowhere to be found here. Even the youngest staff members seem quite capable, so I suppose they're doing some kind of voodoo when training their staff. Tourists from countries with excellent service shouldn't expect to be stunned, but their service is way above the national average. As in every venue in the Netherlands, it's still quite challenging to get their attention when you want to order, but that's about the only negative. All-in-all, highly recommend for an afternoon outdoors with the family & great to combine with a few hours at the huge playground across the road or a long walk in the forest.

It's a place that specializes in pancakes. They have sweet and savory pancakes in many varieties. They also have some dishes, bowls, and sandwiches. The place is cozy, with a deck overlooking the park, a playground for children of all ages, and is very comfortable. Reservations are necessary. We had two appetizers, four main courses, and six beers. 127 Euros.

Had a lovely time with my husband, daughter, and son-in-law from Canada. We ate a delicious pancake on the cozy terrace. The staff was young but very friendly. In short, a great place!

The pancakes are nothing special and the price is outrageous. The service is slow. The only saving grace is the location, but I wouldn't recommend it.

We had a delicious meal at this restaurant. The food was well prepared, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome immediately. The atmosphere was cozy and everything was neatly taken care of. Definitely recommended for anyone who loves good food and good service. We would love to come back again!

The pancakes were tasty but truly wafer-thin, and charging €14.50 for two slices of bacon and five slices of apple on top is pretty rude. Apple juice for €4.80. A shame for a place right next to a playground. People think they're running a business in Amsterdam or something. You could attract so many more guests with reasonable prices. That batter literally costs you a few cents per pancake! We should have known better, because no one was eating, just having drinks. Not again as far as we're concerned.

Good pancakes in a beautiful place with good service.

We have been here many times and also have celebrated my son’s birthday a couple of times here. The service is exceptional and the staff are very helpful. The menu has many options for adults and kids. When the weather is right, there is loads of space outside for kids to play and have fun. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed the sun on the terrace here after a walk in Twiske. The kalfsspek with apple pancake tasted great, and the Twiske Molen was good as well, but the coconut flakes were not the best as a topping. The dough is delicious though. As for the drinks, the dates and ginger soda was disappointing. You could not taste the dates, and there was barely any ginger. It is better to just order sparkling water and bring your own ginger from home 🙊 Service was great.

Mistakes can happen but being rude with you customer and giving attitude is not what customer service looks like. You don't shout at your customer.

The location is great and there is a wide selection of pancakes and drinks. The service was friendly, but it could have been a bit faster as we waited 15 minutes for our drinks. The drinks were tasty, so that made up for it.

Ordered a carpaccio sandwich. The carpaccio wasn't carpaccio. Ordered it with pesto, but there was no pesto to be found. The service was excellent. Otherwise, the atmosphere wasn't very welcoming.

I had pancakes and fries with my granddaughter. Everything was delicious. The staff works incredibly hard, regularly checking in on your table to see if you need anything or if everything is to your liking. It's a bit of a shame there's no hook in the restroom to hang your bag.

I was there with my elderly mother in a wheelchair on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It was very busy, but the staff still made an effort to find us a spot, and we enjoyed a delicious pancake. It was a shame that the apple juice and cappuccino we ordered were forgotten due to the crowd. Nevertheless, it's a lovely family-friendly place with friendly staff, worth coming back to. Moreover, the food is halal and vegetarian, so everyone can enjoy a delicious meal here. It's also geared towards children, with games to keep them entertained until their food arrives.

I went to lunch with my sisters at this fantastic spot, where you can fully enjoy breathtaking surroundings. With an abundance of delicious dishes, from a variety of delicious milkshakes with creamy pancakes to homemade cheeseburgers with delicious fries. This place also offers numerous activities for young children. The staff is not only incredibly friendly but also incredibly fast and helpful. Plus, you can park your car right in front of the door. So if you're looking for a day out, this spot, De Appel, is highly recommended.

What a wonderful place! My sisters and I enjoyed a lovely lunch at Pancake House De Appel in Twiske. Despite being a pancake house, they have a very extensive menu, so there's something for everyone. The terrace is lovely, the service is incredibly friendly, and the owner is a warm, enthusiastic woman who wants to please everyone. I had a delicious vegan pancake. One of the few pancake houses in the region where the vegan pancake isn't also gluten-free. That's great. Unfortunately, vegans only have a choice of sweet pancakes. If they'd offer vegan cheese, I'd be sold.

Delicious Pancake, a bit pricey but tasty and with a nice view

First of all, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Selling a bland pancake with a small jar of Nutella for €11 is unfortunately completely over the top, especially since it wasn't particularly tasty. The other orders, a crispy burger and a falafel burger, were nicely decorated, but tasted more like a takeaway! I wouldn't recommend this place!

I ordered the homemade hummus and the homemade tuna salad. The hummus was excellent, beautifully presented, and tasty. The tuna salad with red onion, grilled bell pepper, capers, and wasabi mayo sounds delicious, but when it's served, you see a slice of bread with salad, and a mountain of lettuce thrown on top. Including the hard bits of lettuce. No love. The capers and red onion were missing, along with one tiny piece of grilled bell pepper. Because there's so much mayonnaise in the salad, you can't taste the wasabi mayonnaise. For €13.00, that's not really value for money—€10.00 too much. The attached photo is an example of how it could be done for the same price. Hint: it's a fun place for kids, and they no longer serve alcoholic drinks. That's possible, but then we'll go a bit further for that delicious wine and beer.

The food is fine, but not outstanding. The service is good, with pleasant staff and a lively young team. What's a real shame is that they don't serve alcohol (anymore). We consider it a rather patronizing approach. It's a reason for us to choose a different restaurant. I hear a lot of people around me complaining about it. It's a real shame that such a lovely, beautiful, and especially cozy location made this choice.

Was very quiet last Tuesday. Something really needs to be done about the sticky tables and a hair of dust around open cutlery/syrup. You would think that the staff would have enough time to do something about this (hygiene) on such a quiet rainy day. The pancakes were not filling. Could use a bit more egg and flour (thicker) to make the price ratio realistic. Nice for once. Unfortunately disappointing that the place is halal, but serves 0.0 wine and beer.

I really enjoyed this cozy pancake restaurant! It was quite busy but this makes sense because it is now a holiday. We were given a spot at the back and the table was cleaned briefly. Hygiene was good and there was a good atmosphere. The Apple Pancake with Cinnamon Sugar is also highly recommended!! Some children were busy playing and a bit noisy, but yes, it is a pancake restaurant. They also have some things to do for the kids. It is definitely recommended! You can enjoy delicious pancakes in a beautiful nature reserve!

Everything was very mediocre. The atmosphere - it was cold inside - the service and the food were very mediocre. Satay and hamburger were reasonable, but the pancakes were much too thin and not really tasty. Definitely not recommended!

Very noisy and noisy with screaming and running children and the pancake with strawberries was a joke, so few strawberries on such a large pancake.

After a walk in the Twiske you can sit here and have something to eat or drink. It is spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly and you get your order quickly. I usually come there when it is quiet, during the week. I was there last weekend. There were several birthday parties and it was therefore very noisy and gaotic. Because it is one large room, it reverberates enormously. Because it is in Twiske, you have to pay when you arrive by car via the levers. You can also park for free at the sports fields via the Twiskeweg. Then you have to walk 10 minutes.

Nice place in a nice location. The atmosphere and interior are pleasantly decorated. And… there is plenty of entertainment for the kids! (Honest) food with vegan and gluten-free options. Delicious pancakes and great milkshakes. The waitresses are extremely friendly and helpful, and the restaurant is very tastefully decorated. Unfortunately the pancakes are overpriced. We didn't know that the restaurant was in a park with paid parking.

Nice place, great food, friendly staff! Tip: Or a toy with all children's menus (children do not choose what they want to eat but what the toy comes with, a bit strange, right?) Or no toys with dinner: a delicious pancake with Smarties and bacon is already a party, isn't it? Buying an additional toy for 3.50 euros!? I thought it was a bit crazy! Fortunately, the 3 children without the Gift Pancake menu did not care that they were not allowed to choose something from the nice basket with their kids snack menu, but I thought it was a bit sad and despite the excellent food, the fun lunch ended on a downer.
