Delicious Balinese restaurant. They have a simple menu with few options, but the food is very good. It's very popular; we arrived 15 minutes before it opened and there was already a line.

The food is really tasty. Unfortunately, you typically stand in line for 30+ minutes, and sometimes an announcement is suddenly made that the food is sold out and you'd better leave, whether you reserved via the app or not. Capacity has not kept pace with popularity.

Wow! crazy good. If you’ve lived in Asia or like Asian food you better bring yourself and enjoy a great meal. A different meal each day.

Normally very picky about Indonesian food, but Paon Bali really takes the cake. Delicious! Highly recommended!

Delicious, and the fact that there is a line before they open says it all!

They are only open from Wednesday to Sunday, and every day they have one fixed menu and price. And when it's gone, it's gone! It is mainly takeaway. You can eat there, but the number of tables is limited. The concept is "first come, first served." Even though you can order the dish in advance, you still have to stand in line when you come to pick it up. As for the food, I think it is worth a try. It is based on one portion (per person). The satay was very tasty, it's a shame we only got one of those. All in all, the food was delicious and enough for one person.

Just picked up another excellent meal. Had a delicious meal again!

As an Indonesian, I’m always skeptical of Indonesian specific food that’s made abroad and has a lot of local customers. I always suspect may be the taste is not authentic BUT oh NO I’m so wrong, the taste is fully authentic and SO SO good. I am a picky eater, and rarely I decide to put a good review intentionally by myself. But my experience with the food makes me want to tell the world that this food is so delicious! ✨ Thank you so much!

Had an amazing experience at Paon Bali! The nasi babi guling was reminded me of Bali. The atmosphere was cozy and the owner were friendly and welcoming. Definitely a place I would come back to when craving Indonesian food in Amsterdam.

I have been visiting Amsterdam for over 20 years trying several restaurants . This establishment has one of the best meals I have ever had . Incredible flavors of each portion not overwhelming the other …. A 5 Star incredible. It is somewhat out of the way tram 26 and some walking but so good , worth the journey.

Overall rating: 4.7 Visiting from NYC Best if you don’t have any night plans! I arrived around 18:00 with a group in front of me. Waiting 1-1.5 hours with needing to be somewhere 20:00. The food was absolutely delicious and I can see why it’s rated so highly. But for someone that doesn’t drive or bike, it was a bit of a trek. The owners were so nice since I didn’t speak dutch. I did a lot of nodding and going with whatever’s recommended. Highly recommend!

Really a good experience. Authentic Balinese food. The queue far out on the street really proves that the place is worth visiting. The toilets actually deserve 5 stars. The nicest decorated and cleanest toilets I have seen to date at a restaurant here in town.

Standed in line today. Was advised to get takeout here. My son and I are very disappointed. The Nasi Jinggo was really mediocre. The meat was tasty, but the rice itself was bland and tasteless. Maybe we were just unlucky today and the dishes from the other days are actually good.

A small eatery, but oh so delicious. The fact that there's often a line even at opening time is a testament to Paon Bali's popularity. You order your food at the counter, grab your drink, and settle in. The food is then served quickly and beautifully. There's only one menu available per day, as listed on the website, so that's very easy when it comes to choosing. The food is delicious, well-seasoned, and there's plenty of variety. It's also beautifully decorated and clean. Definitely recommended, and I'll definitely be back!

Truly delicious, authentic Indonesian food. You get one set menu with a little bit of everything. The menu changes regularly; we had everything with fish. Perhaps the best Indonesian food I've had in Amsterdam so far.

I had an excellent meal here. It reminded me a bit of the eateries around Ubud, a long time ago. A delight for both the taste buds and the other senses. I hope to return here many times. To make a long story short: Highly recommended.

Very nice people, all homemade and ‘authentic’ and affordable. Better go before they give you the ‘we’re sold out’: it’s quite simple over here: they make 1 extensive dish and a vegan option and that’s what you get. I’m ‘new’ in this area, when folks are queuing outside night after night, you know it’s good food!

THE BEST food we have had during our 4 month trip around Europe. Very generous portions of the most amazing and well flavored Indonesian food, with a great presentation on the plate. The owners were very nice and are running an excellent business. We got there right at opening and sat inside, which filled up quickly after. There's a long line outside, but it's worth the wait. You can eat inside or take it home. Everything is very tasty, not too spicy. The owners are lovely, only two people serve everything, but everything runs very smoothly.

Misleading, inhospitable, and downright discriminatory. Paon Bali proudly advertises itself as wheelchair-friendly, but as soon as you ask a specific question about accessibility, it turns out to be empty talk. I wanted to make a reservation for three people, one of whom is blind, with the simple request for an easily accessible table. The answer? "We don't take reservations. It'll probably be difficult, sorry." So: you lure guests in with sweet talk about accessibility, but as soon as someone truly relies on it, you push them away. That's not only poor service, but also misleading and disrespectful. Hospitality should mean that everyone is welcome, regardless of disability. Here, you get the opposite: cold, dismissive, and completely unwilling to consider your needs. ⚠️ Warning to anyone who relies on accessibility: don't fall for the promise of "wheelchair-friendly." You're only welcome here if you don't ask any questions and don't need any assistance. Fortunately, Amsterdam has plenty of Indonesian restaurants that are honest and hospitable. Paon Bali is definitely not one of them.

This place is the bomb. Absolutely delectable Balinese food. One choice. You get what they are making that day. But you won’t be disappointed (unless you vegetarian- no vegetarian option). They don’t dumb down the spice for local palettes. Can’t recommend more.

thinking about eating here? stop thinking just go best meal we had during our trip to the netherlands hands down no contest. every single item was perfect, flavorful... i regret not being able to go more than once. hopefully this will help others who have ordering anxiety like me and didn't know how it worked here: you get a choice of the main proteins (or you can do both) and then you just automatically get a little bit of everything else listed on the menu. i'm sure that if you had intolerances or allergies, you could request NOT to include something - but by default you get everything 😊 the sambal is really good btw don't skip it, unless you absolutely cannot tolerate spicy we devoured our takeout boxes at the little park over to the west, where there are benches and a little pond. really nice backdrop for a fantastic meal

No standard menu, but a daily changing menu with multiple small dishes - exactly as you get it there. Good grief this meal was fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about the food and the owners. Nasi Babi Guling the meal of the day it it was perfect; my partner said better than Bali. Portions were massive. Go early if you want to dine-in as there is limited seating (otherwise it is only for takeout). Be sure to grab some of the prawn or cassava chips as well.

Small, charming place with the best Balinese food. Very affordable. You just have one menu with lots of things. People standing in line even before it opens. It's very small so almost everyone gets takeout. If you want to sit you need to be early. You need to like spicy food.

As a big fan of Indonesian food, I was interested in Paon Bali, with the authentic Balinese cuisine. There is 1 set menu per day, that's it. No choice stress. On the website you can see exactly what they serve that day. We had the Babi Guleng menu today (see board) and it was delicious! Spicy soup, pork belly, satay babi and more. Sticky Rice for dessert. Friendly staff and good atmosphere, what more do you want? I want to come back here more often, because I am curious about the chicken menu! 5/5 ⭐️

Not your usual restaurant with an endless Menu. They offer a changing menu each day. You will find people waiting in queue eagerly waiting to get their food. The food was amazing, each bite was flavorful.

The only place for an authentic Balinese food. It’s just, perfect. Been going here since 2018 and it’s never been a miss.

If you are in Amsterdam, and you are breathing, you must come here. Queue was stowed out the door when we showed up around 1830 and didn’t subside even after we left around 1845. Got the Paon Bali which was some lovely fragrant rice, and then a delicious medley of all the different curries, veggies and deep fried goodness (9 different items if I remember correctly). The absolute without a doubt highlight of the dish was the slow roasted pork belly, full of fatty deliciousness glazed with something magical, slow roasted so that it just melted in my mouth. Magnifique! The metaphorical cherry that topped this very non metaphorical collage of cultural creations were the perfectly roasted peanuts (that did physically top the dish !!!). The dusting of nuts went perfectly with all the other constituent parts to add a nice crunch to every bite. Wow wow and wow, thank you so much for showing me food I’ve never experienced before. It was brilliant to see this part of Amsterdam as well, very much worth the travel. Really hoping Balinese food makes it to Glasgow. Also obligatory mention to the lovely staff and quick turnaround time. Cheers!

Treat yourself to some fantastic Balinese food. Whether eating in or taking out, make sure to make your reservations in advance as the owners strive for at least waste as possible, something to support. The menu per day is fixed but hey, that just saves us from making choices and the 'stress' that goes with it 😊. Dian and Steven, the lovely owners, will not disappoint you. The food is very good. My only complaint is that it is quite salty. Up to the point that I wake up during the night with a dry mouth from it. If that would be a bit less so, I would definitely rate it 5 stars Edit: maybe it's my interpretation, but it seems that the food is less salty than before, more to my taste. As a Balinese travelling to Amsterdam, I found this place is really authentic. Just remind me of home. The owner is very welcome and friendly. The food is great! I believe Balinese, Indonesian, or Western would enjoy the food easily. Would definitely pay another visit if I go to Amsterdam again. Recommended!

The restaurant was very pretty. For reasons of space we were not able to eat there. We had decided to try this Bali meal at all costs (a cuisine that we didn't know at all), so taking away is better than nothing. Conclusion it was excellent, no regrets. If only one, having to leave and not being able to eat a delicious dish from this restaurant again. We strongly recommend.

Probably one of the best Indonesian restaurant in Netherlands, this one specializes in Balinese nasi campur. The minute you walk in you are greeted with that base gede spices scent in the air. They change their menu for each opening day but my favorite is their nasi ayam and nasi languan. They do tone down the chili heat but you can always ask Ibu for more sambal.
