Super hearty and tasty! I had the bami goreng with the daging blado and sayur lodeh - the sambal for the daging was actually spicy! Price-wise, I guess it’s in a normal range for food in Amsterdam, but as a Singaporean, it was difficult to justify paying 15 euros for mee goreng 😭 Nonetheless a great meal!

The food is simply delicious. It's well worth it.

Wow...you'd struggle to find better than this in a restaurant and you get to take it home at a fraction of the price. We'll done, you have a great business model and fabulous service with it...

It was delicious and magical. The eggplants with coconut were the best eggplants I’ve ever tried, and I love eggplants. The chicken with lemongrass was perfect too. The sambal eggs dipped in their sauce are even better. And the fried rice and the tempeh were very good too. I will come back for sure !

A new local friend recommended Proper Indofood. They serve takeout, the portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and the flavors are absolutely remarkable. The staff, always smiling, did their best to advise and satisfy me—I was entering a small takeout place for the first time with so many choices that it was difficult to decide.

I've tried many Asian Asian restaurants in Amsterdam, but this one is truly top-notch in terms of flavor and quality! The spicy dishes are also well-seasoned and not too mild (which is unfortunately often the case with Asian restaurants these days).

We happened to walk by and were immediately impressed by the window display. A huge selection, and you can put together different combinations. We got the package for two. It was delicious, authentic dishes, including vegetarian options. Simply perfect for takeaway. We'll definitely come back next time we're in Amsterdam.

PROPER Indo Food is highly recommended. The food is incredibly fresh and not greasy at all, which is a breath of fresh air compared to many other Indonesian takeaways where it often drips in grease. Everything tastes delicious and the quality is top-notch, with excellent portions. The staff is incredibly friendly and seems to enjoy their work, and the shop itself is very neat and well-maintained. A great place to pick up authentic Indonesian food!

Amazing Indo food. If you like spicy you are in luck but if you can’t handle spicy like me then stick to coconut sauce. It is only take away but definitely worth it. I especially like the aubergine, yummy

The crispy, caramelised tempeh is out of this world. The people there are friendly and the food is made with love. Good value and great food for the price.

This place is probably one of the best in town, but I might change my mind. However, Google showed a high rating, and it’s dinner time. There was already a line, but it moved fairly quickly. The portion is pretty generous and filling, even for an individual. The taste and options are pretty similar to other places, but they do offer different snacks, such as pastel, lemper, and panada. As usual, there’s no seating area, but there are some benches outside.

Had the large portion for one with Beef Rendang, spicy tofu, and spicy green beans served with yellow rice. It was absolutely fantastic – the flavors were spot-on and beautifully balanced. Excellent food, highly recommended! We’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Amsterdam.

Every bite was fresh, tasty, and clearly made with care. You can tell they put thought into what they offer. I’ll definitely be coming back today!

I can see why this place has such high reviews. The food is amazing and tastes just like I imagine home cooked food from Indonesia would taste. It’s very fairly priced. It’s so flavorful and the options are solid. The servers (Harris and Cliff) are super friendly and happy to answer your questions on what each of the foods are, their flavor profile, and how spicy it is. Harris has a warm and welcoming smile on his face. Note that this is quick service but there are benches outside just down the block for you to eat your food. Ask for it warmed if you plan to eat it right away!

I only tried two Indonesian places during my 4 days visit in Amsterdam but I went to Proper Indonesian cafe twice since their foods were so good and the staff were super friendly. The only downside is there are no place to eat in this location, but plenty of park benches outside so we took our foods to go and enjoyed them outdoor. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic an Indonesian dishes.

I grew up having Malay / Indonesian Nasi Padang and miss it badly, this was spot on. Best Indonesian food I’ve had in Europe!

I need to return to Amsterdam just to eat here again! This restaurant should be marked as a main attraction in Amsterdam. Every dish is fresh, fragrant, and flavoursome- you can taste every ingredient. There's loads of variety, it's authentic mouthwatering food and the portions are very generous! The staff are incredibly warm, helpful and kind- the server translated the whole menu for me because I can't read Dutch. 10/10 doesn't do it justice, I can't wait to return!!

This is indeed “clean Indofood”. Delicious food. It all looks beautiful. The flavors are delicious, there is a lot of choice (also for vegetarians) and the portions are enormous. It was my first time and I will definitely go again.

The most delicious Indonesian food I have ever tasted. The tempeh is crisp, the aubergine is soft and flavourful, the spekkoek flavours are strong and the cake is soft. The green spicy beans are also a favourite. We went to flavour town and back and would love to return. Or maybe even live in the little food display to soak it all up. Well done!

Very tasty and good portions. A lot of vegan options. I tried the spicy Tempeh, coconut Tofu and spicy Aubergine. Would probably not take the Aubergine again, but it still was totally worth it! Only the the big potions (menu) if you are really hungry, they put a lot into it!

The food always gives you an Indonesian feeling of home 🥰 And the service is also very good: Dina was really nice and her colleagues were all really nice too! Proper Indofood lives up to its name. It's genuinely delicious Indonesian food. Some of the best I've ever had. My wife's Indonesian and to her it tastes just like home. The atmosphere is great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Could not recommend this place more!

The best Indofood take-away! Whenever we visit Amsterdam this is our go-to take-away. The pleasant staff and exceptional home-cooked dishes at reasonable prices make this a cut above the rest. It can be a bit of a trek to get to depending on where you’re staying but it’s worth the walk. Hope to see you again soon! XXX

The best Afhaal Indonesian food I have tried after living a year in Amsterdam! As an Indonesian, it is unbelievably hard to find in Amsterdam with its endless afhaal centrums (Ain’t that the truth).The taste and spices used definitely remind one of home ❤️. It was also quite affordable. We had the lunch box and for 9 euros. Top dishes: the woku kip and spicy Nasi Goreng The staff are friendly and helpful and will definitely pick the best dishes for you!

Oh wow! This is fantastic, authentic Indonesian cuisine. The satay skewers were fresh and delicious, the beef (sweet), coconut rice, all the vegetables are just pure deliciousness. This alone is worth a trip to Amsterdam. Fantastic value and very good service. Thank you

Absolutely delicious dishes everytime!

On a recent weeklong trip across the Netherlands and Belgium, this may have been our absolute favorite meal. We were told we had to try Indonesian food in Amsterdam, and Proper Indofood blew us away!! We got takeout chicken, rice, and a variety of vegetables. We brought the food back to our hotel to eat in the dining area. After about 10 minutes, the three hotel receptionists came over to ask us where our food was from. Imagine that - the locals asking the tourists for dinner recommendations. Full of flavor and WAY underpriced for the quantity and quality. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you to the young woman who served us and the whole staff who prepared such delicious food.

This place lived up to its name. Was feeling homesick and craved Southeast Asian flavours and boy, did this place deliver. My only regret was not having more of their homemade sambal. The lady who manned the counter was super friendly too!!

Absolutely love this place, i went there to order food for the first time and the guy gave us an extra topping on the already massive portion (thank you kind man!). We had tempe, yellow chicken, tofu, brocolli, and the eggplant. And wow everything taste amazing, especially the eggplant, tempe, and tofu. I'm not vegan but would gladly eat their veggie toppings everyday.
