Parkcafé Mees in Wijk 1 Binnenstad

It's a really nice place, but the service is terrible. A quick coffee isn't an option. I went inside to ask if I could sit down or order at the bar, and was told, "We'll be right with you." After waiting 20 minutes, I just left.

A very busy Saturday morning, which is certainly not a bad thing! We had made a reservation in advance, but our table had name tags with the reserved time after us. We did indeed have to leave that table, but luckily we were able to sit one table further away. Quite unusual, couldn't this have been done logistically? The food and drinks we received were really good and tasty! But the wait... A server who, three times with her back to us, took someone else's order and not ours? So we ordered inside. They listened, and the order arrived quickly, but no understanding or apology. Too bad, Mees, not for me again.

Beautiful location and lovely seating. The service was very friendly. A few minor issues arose here and there, both within our group and around us (e.g., the lack of a small amount of juice at breakfast), but after asking again, we received it within two seconds. The food was also very delicious. The very fluffy pancakes are definitely recommended. To be honest, I'm not usually one to leave reviews quickly, but after our visit, we received an email with a non-standard question: "Would you like to leave a review?" But please let us know if something wasn't to your liking! That alone deserves a positive review. :)

What a lovely spot for a delicious breakfast! The weather cooperated, so we enjoyed eating outside with a view of the water and the trees. The service was prompt and friendly.

I've been coming to Deventer for a day trip for years. It's a very pleasant, beautiful, and vibrant city with regular special festivals, such as Deventer on Stilts, the Book Market, Dickens Days, etc. I always take one or more walks, enjoy everything, and enjoy a good lunch. This time I chose Parkcafé Mees. It's located in the truly beautiful Rijsterborgherpark on a high hill. Surrounded by a terrace. An oasis of tranquility with a stunning view. I chose the Chicken Club Sandwich (chicken, lettuce, tomato, red onion, guacamole, fried egg, bacon, and fries). Excellent! Smooth, friendly service. A pleasant introduction, which I will definitely repeat. Ed Jansen

Het cafe ziet er erg schattig en verzorgt uit. het is schoon. de temperatuur is goed geregeld. de bediening is erg aardig en ook relatief snel. het eten is lekker en erg betaalbaar! ook veel leuke drankopties! Het cafe zit super dichtbij het station en bij de stad, dus echt een toplocatie! Ook het vogeleiland is schattig en sfeervol.

We had lunch at Parkcafé Mees today. We drove past it and were really drawn to it; what a lovely little place! Everything that could go wrong went wrong with our lunch. For some reason, the order didn't come through, so we had to wait a long time. It wasn't a hardship in this lovely place, but we still asked if we could get something else. When the order arrived, it was unfortunately the wrong one. Where people work, mistakes can happen. The art is in how you react to them. The service at this little restaurant is truly excellent. Their handling of the situation was top-notch. The sandwiches were also incredibly delicious. Despite the occasional glitch, we will definitely be back!

Mooie plek op het Vogeleiland, tegenover het station. Je zit op het terras tussen het groen en met uitzicht op het water. Was met mijn ouders, waarvan 1 met rollator. Fijn dat je ook via een (flinke) helling toch het parkcafé kunt bereiken. Boven ben je wel een beetje afhankelijk van goedheid van andere gasten of je met rollator, rolstoel of kinderwagen langs hun tafeltjes kunt. Ik was er al eerder geweest, mijn ouders nog nooit. Ze hebben erg genoten. Prima koffie, thee en mocktail en heerlijk huisgemaakt gebak. Het is echt even ontspannen midden in de drukke stad. We zagen de brunch voorbij komen; zag er heerlijk uit. Leuk om mijn ouders daar de volgende keer voor uit te nodigen. Bediening was top! Allemaal even vriendelijk en oplettend.

Lovely breakfast in the forest among the singing of peacocks. It was a delicious and cozy meal! We ate pink Lady pancakes, breakfast board, toast with eggs and bacon, and a single croissant with jam. We sat outside with a couple of blankets until we got warm.

I haven't eaten there, but when I went to check the opening hours and general atmosphere, I was struck by the constant drone of traffic from the Singel road across the water, which doesn't show up in the photos.

Great place for lunch! Delicious food, good service, and always a pleasant atmosphere. Be sure to make a reservation, as it often fills up quickly. The restaurant is located on Vogeleiland, in the heart of the green Rijsterborgherpark, so you can enjoy a natural ambiance during your lunch. Deventer station is within walking distance (only 2-3 minutes).

We got married at Mees and everything was really fantastically taken care of. It is a beautiful place, they are very hospitable (also for the kids) and it is just very relaxed. We really had a wonderful day and a very nice party. It is very nice that everything is in one place: from ceremony to party. They think along with you within your wishes and frameworks and come up with good suggestions. Delicious food too. And because your place is already so beautiful, you don't need many extras. Really 100% recommended for your wedding!

Nice terrace. Sit there regularly. The website states that the opening time is until 18:00. I arrived at 17:00. Several people were still there. I sat down, but was sent away, they were closing? Put your coat back on then. Annoying way of doing things.

Nice location outside on the terrace at the farewell of a colleague. Great snacks in between and friendly service. Too bad for some that most types of beer were gone quite quickly.

Een mooie locatie. Ik ben hier geweest op een drukke dag met goed weer. Helaas buiten geen plek, wel binnen. Serveerster aanvankelijk wat verlegen maar wel behulpzaam. Niets gegeten vanwege tijdgebrek dus het eten niet kunnen beoordelen. Ik kreeg, ondanks de drukte wel snel mijn thee. Groot minpunt en aandachtspunt (wellicht bespreekbaar bij de Gemeente); als gaat met een fysieke beperking kon ik goed gebruik maken van de oprijlaan (het restaurant bevindt zich boven de grond) maar eenmaal aangekomen werd de looproute met mijn rollator zeer smal. Een persoon in een rolstoel kan hier niet rijden. Tafels en stoelen staan over de gehele lengte aan weerszijden van het looppad. Wel vriendelijke gasten die behulpzaam waren, maar het personeel besteedde geen aandacht aan mij terwijl ze wel langs of achter mij langs kwamen lopen. Het restaurant binnen heeft een drempel. Daar vroeg het personeel wel of ze mij konden helpen. Niet gevraagd, maar ik zie op de website niet of ze de beschikking hebben over een invalidetoilet. Ben je fysiek beperkt of volledig rolstoelafhankelijk, dan is bellen en vragen naar de mogelijkheden geen overbodige luxe. Kijkend naar de menukaart, dan overweeg ik wel hiervoor nog een keer terug te komen. Wat betreft het probleem voor mindervaliden en/of invalide mensen: wellicht is het bespreekbaar bij de gemeente om mee te denken over wellicht terras op de begane grond. Maar dat is natuurlijk een tip.

We arrived at 17.15 and they told us they were going to serve us the last roud of drinks because at 18.00 they normally close. But from that on the waitress was constantly looking at us and making us uncomfortable 😐 like pushing us in some way to leave quickly. Not happy at all. Also they way she spoke to us was mean.

This has been revived with a lot of love, with success 👌

A very nice tent in the park, where you can have a delicious lunch. Nicely decorated, tasty items on the menu (also plenty of non-alcoholic and vegetarian options). Very friendly staff! Unfortunately I don't live around the corner here, but otherwise it would certainly be a regular place of mine to regularly eat or drink something.

Fijne plek om de reis even te onderbreken, dichtbij het station. Reserveren lijkt nodig, maar we mochten toch blijven van 11 tot 12. Een probleempje met het aanbod op de kaart werd handig opgelost. Aardige bediening. Trappen naar het restaurant, beneden kun je iets te drinken nemen. Ook weer trappen naar de wc's.

Last Saturday we were here (for the first time) with a group of 12 people for a birthday lunch. What a beautiful location, delicious food and super friendly service. Highly recommended in an easily accessible location (next to station and parking garage), while you have the feeling of being in the middle of the nature of the park. We would love to come back!

Lovely spot for lunch! It was very busy when we were there, so we had to wait a relatively long time for the food, but it is a very nice place to sit. The food was delicious. We just didn't get any explanation about the brunch platter, and it was a bit too busy to quickly ask what exactly was what, but it was all delicious! Definitely recommended!

This afternoon, as BABS from the municipality of Deventer, we were allowed to celebrate a wedding at Park Mees. The first of this year again at Park Mees. A beautiful location. Very hospitable. Staff is very attentive. An eye for detail. Taken care of.

This is a very beautifully located restaurant in a park in the middle of Deventer. It has a beautiful terrace all around, a really lovely place for tea and a cake! Inside it is very busy and a bit cramped around lunchtime. The service is very friendly. I just wasn't enthusiastic about the food at all. Really a shame for such a beautiful place....

Mees is always good. Beautiful location on the bird island, honest dishes and friendly staff. We looked on a whim to see if there was still a place for a quick lunch (cinema reserved so we had a max of an hour). Luckily there was. Daughter a ham/cheese sandwich and myself a chicky sandwich (chicken thigh with chimichurri) and something to drink. Friendly and quick service and delicious food. Next time a bit longer and more extensive hopefully and hopefully with a bit higher temperatures so we can sit outside.

Had dinner here today, nice weather so sat outside. super friendly greetings from the servers. ordered a carpaccio sandwich with a forest fruit smoothie. After 5-8 minutes my food arrived at my table. It wasn't super busy, it was 5:00 PM, really the best carpaccio I've eaten. Tasty tea with an amazing sunset view!

Outdoor terrace nice but cramped when the weather is nice. Not great seating inside, cramped. Ordered chicken satay mediocre quality and taste, not warm. Sandwiches generously topped with vegetables and fresh bread toppings of your choice. Prices ok.

I had a meat burger, and it was excellent. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, offering an unbeatable taste. Since I didn't reserve a table, I had to sit outside, and it was quite cold. However, the view made up for it, and I still enjoyed my meal. The staff were friendly, and overall, it was a great experience. I'll definitely try it again!

This place is beautiful, cozy and has a unique location! The staff is nice, not too stiff. I had already been there a few times, and was surprised here a few weeks ago with a vegan baby shower brunch. Very nice that this was possible.

Had a delicious lunch at park café Mees. There is a nice atmosphere and we work with passion. The menu is extensive and the food is very good. The salad with salmon is highly recommended! Glad we came across this nice spot during our day in Deventer.

Very small, Bad service and Good quality of food! You need a reservation to be able to sit inside (at least on a Saturday)! We sat outside when it was -4°c but luckily we had sun. It won't be an option when there is no sun. The service was very slow. Don't order tea because it's almost 4 euros for a teabag; not worth it.

When I walked in the cafe was completely full, a good sign! Fortunately, it was still possible to pick up a sandwich (which was my intention anyway). I was greeted very friendly and was able to take a seat at the bar while waiting. I had a Roasty sandwich and it was truly the best hummus sandwich with grilled vegetables I have ever had! Great fun. Unfortunately I don't live nearby, otherwise I would come pick this up much more often.

Atmosphere: Your sitting in a small but very cozy restaurant that could be described almost like a tree house. It's also inside the park so this creates a beautiful picture all year around. Service: very kind staff and always happy to make sure you got what you want. So NEVER be afraid to ask something your heart desires. If they say no can't do. They legit can't. If they have what you requested they got you❤️ Food: Amazing place to sit down for a sandwich or brunch. They have an very diverse but interesting menu and is based around brunch/lunch. From French toast made with sugar bread to American pancakes to snacks filled with mushrooms. The coffee and tea here is also an experience rather then "just" coffee. Especially the Dirty Chai is unmatched by other places. All in all very good place just make sure you make a reservation, it's a small but popular place so it fills up quick. Been there 6 times now at least never had a bad experience.

Located in the heart of the city, amid the greenery of Rijsterborgher Park on Bird Island, the café offers a wonderful experience for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and even delicious cake. During our visit we enjoyed a delicious lunch in a beautifully decorated and atmospheric ambiance. The love and attention to freshness contributed to the great flavors of the dishes. The service was friendly and attentive, which made our visit even more special. In short, Parkcafé Mees is an absolute top place where you will quickly feel at home. Highly recommended for anyone who likes good food and a nice atmosphere! Tip: taste the beers from Klooster Sion
