The food was excellent and of high quality. However, the service was sometimes too much or too little, which requires a bit more balance.

It looks cozy and a nice place for the kids to play. We ordered two pulled pork sandwiches; the chicken was cold on both of the first occasions. We received an apology and a new sandwich. For the children, we ordered fries and a croquette from the kids' menu, which was listed as €7.50. When I went to pay, it turned out to be more expensive than I'd initially calculated. I didn't receive a receipt, but I had to ask for one myself to double-check. It turned out we'd paid €12.50 for the kids' menu. We pointed this out, and she pulled out the menu card. It did indeed say €12.50, but it wasn't the same one we'd received. She told us it was the old menu and that she'd pay more attention next time. That was no use to us...no solution, nothing. She just continued with her business and other customers. Poor service. We won't be going back.

Had the menu du jour with mussels. It was fine, but the portion of fries was very meager. I ordered a green salad with it, which I found rather plain; I expected more. I looked at the dessert menu and found it quite pricey. So I ordered a cappuccino, and we were given coffee. The service wasn't smooth.

A beautiful and atmospheric cafe near the IJssel River and the Grote Kerkhof (large cemetery). A great spot for drinks, lunch, or dinner. Large outdoor terrace. It's just a short walk from the ferry.

A really nice place in a beautiful location. Due to the weather, we unfortunately couldn't sit outside. But inside, it's very nice. We had a delicious lunch, and the kids had a blast playing in the play basement. Highly recommended!

The food was excellent. The service could be better. The wine we ordered wasn't delivered twice, and we had to ask for it twice. We received the wrong dessert, which was taken back, but the correct one wasn't brought until later, after everyone else at the table had almost finished theirs.

A very pleasant terrace that's always packed in good weather. Compared to last year, the terrace has been significantly improved. The service is excellent. Fast and friendly service. The lunch menu is sufficient and not overly extensive. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. This is definitely a place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Delicious! The mussels and mushrooms were very tasty. The portion of fries with the mussels could be a bit bigger. You won't be full on these.

We were a bit disappointed with the quantity! My husband ordered a burger, which came with fries, but they were minimal—a small handful, which was a shame. I had the beef steak without fries, which I had to order separately. The quantity was really meager, which is a real shame!

Yet another restaurant in Deventer we can cross off our list. Upon arrival, you have to haggle to even get the staff's attention. When they finally do, they seem more interested in catching up with acquaintances than in their guests. Of the two drinks we ordered, only one arrived. So, another demand for attention… Eventually, the second drink arrived, but the tone was already set. The food was also a major disappointment. Everything fried had a strong fishy taste. When I pointed this out, they immediately denied it: "We don't have any fish in the fryer." Pretty sure shrimp croquettes come from there too. That fishy taste isn't just in everything. Naturally, a rather smart-alecky response from the staff member in question. In short: poor service, a lack of attention to the guests, and a kitchen where something is clearly wrong. Not worth repeating.

Half raw duck breast with a slightly burnt sauce. Vegetables ok, but overcooked. You can get the fries better at the Frietmeester. Not value for money. Quick service, though.

After sleeping on it and consulting with the table companions, I finally decided to post an objective but unfortunately not very positive review. St. Maxime also appears to follow the trend of asking a hefty price for a stripped-down dish. If you order a poussin (chicken) which is known as a delicacy and which according to the menu should come with seasonal vegetables, you will be surprised to see a small roast chicken on a plate with eight cubes that look like celeriac and something else, with a small jug of sauce/gravy. No, there are no other vegetables with it, and in no way could you taste that this bantam chicken had been treated differently than being cooked in an oven dish. That costs no less than €24.50. For some slices of duck breast, difficult to cut, without any significant by-products, you can pay €27.50. My table companions also appeared to be somewhat bewildered afterwards and had also expected a bit more for over €50 per person. Admittedly, the wine was delicious and the glass was neatly filled, but unfortunately still a residual feeling of slight dissatisfaction.

We ended up here during our department outing following the Taste Explorers route through the city. Had a delicious coffee/tea with a pistachio snack with white chocolate.

What an incredible shame. We always liked coming here. Especially because of the delicious carpaccio sandwiches. But unfortunately something has changed, different bread, less tasty, less well filled and therefore less filling. After a rather hefty bill (€ 35.80) for two sandwiches, a 7-up and an ice tea green, we left the restaurant with a dissatisfied feeling. Naturally, we have also indicated this to the staff in the hope that the quality we are used to will be resumed.

The food was fine and the service was friendly. I had reported in advance that we were coming to have dinner with our child on the occasion of my husband's birthday. Too bad this was not taken into account. We sat in an awkward spot with a table that was not suitable for a child. After a day of being on the road with our baby, we are naturally tired and crying. One of the waitresses, very irritated, handed us a coloring book. In other words: we are bothered by you. Not a place recommended for younger children.

Delicious coffee and a tasty choux.

Unfortunately not a good experience. I ordered a Radler and had already drunk most of it when I saw that the expiration date had already passed in March 2024. Although I received a free drink as compensation, I find it unacceptable that drinks are served that have expired. This has damaged my confidence in this case, and I will not be returning here again. 👎

Unfortunately, the wine that our Italian colleague wanted to drink was not in stock. Then selected another wine that could not be found either. Finally found a wine, but it was a bit of a struggle. Furthermore, we had a good meal.

Everything okay, but nowhere really an standout. Extraction does not work great, the fish smell was not really pleasant upon entering. No complaints, just okay.

We had dinner here on Christmas Eve, the food was really tasty, two of us had the cod and one had the vegetable quiche, both were very tasty. For dessert we all had the crème brulee with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, also delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful. I only had a rocking chair, haha.

This restaurant with French pretensions serves substandard unFrench meals. Ordered sea bass > arrived on a bed of lettuce with salad dressing. What chef comes up with something like that? 😳 And that for €30. Should have actually sent it back. Very nice service, that's for sure.

An attractive restaurant with friendly service and delicious dishes. Even if you have an allergy, they handle this very well!

Delicious food, clear attention from the open kitchen for the preparation. An absolute miss was the wine, two Spanish, Verdejo and a tempranillo. What do you mean, French theme? The tempranillo is also not recommended, very poor combination with the meat too light and dirty in combination with the caramelized onion. So missed opportunity and go back to your concept, there are so many beautiful French wines. And if a guest reports this, do something with it.

Delicious food in a pleasant, busy restaurant. A bit noisy. Very nice service, but something went wrong. My starter and 1 fries were temporarily forgotten. So this is an area for improvement! No terrace weather now, but it looked very nice! Parking is available almost next to the restaurant.

When we go to Deventer, we always spend time at St Maxime. Cozy and delicious. This time cod, tuna and cheese platter. Enjoyed.

The chicken satay was nice and tender and juicy. Very friendly service. It looks cozy inside. They mainly make money here on the drinks, but I didn't get the impression that the staff was pushing that.

If you have something to celebrate with a large group, I advise you to go to Maxime. We had a wonderful evening there with 19 colleagues. The atmosphere, staff and food were great! Overall a very pleasant evening. Service a bit less. I don't like having to pass plates, cutlery and drinks around. The tables, in this case on the terrace, are perhaps a bit too close together.

Displeased. As a person alone, I felt redundant. They would first place me at 'the bar' in the café! After my failure I was given a place in the dining room (albeit in a drafty hole). People were busy and it clearly showed! Also mostly unfriendly staff. The waiting time was exceptionally long...Not comparable to a few years ago. ('The Fat Vandale')...

St. Maxima restaurant is a nice cosy place. We had lunch overhere and were quite impressed. We understand that only based on a lunch it is hard to judge the quality. But it just felt good. Unfortunately, my son did not receive a festive welcome for his 14-year birthday, even though this was indicated. And my gluten-free bun was a little black on top, so I cut this off. The croissants were very small. Furthermore, the service was good.
