Great restaurant! Delicious food and very friendly service!

What I'm reading is a different owner? I eat well here every year, but this time it was nothing special: higher prices, less meat/dishes, few vegetables, but not better taste/quality. For that price, I can go to much better restaurants. After all, it's a kind of glorified truck stop and for walkers. So they've grossly overestimated themselves. Not for me anymore.

Not great, the cappuccino was nice, but the pie was not fresh.

We had a very tasty and enjoyable meal.

Excellent Dutch restaurant, great welcome, extraordinary kindness, very very good food, I will definitely come back, for truckers there is a shower and you can park on the port behind at the water's edge, plenty of parking

I tried to contact the lock by phone 17 times today. I then tried a few more times with a different phone, but they simply didn't answer, and once they even hung up quickly. Unfortunately.

Not worth repeating. Had to wait a very long time for the food, poor service. And the chicken was in the pan for far too long.

Our 50th wedding anniversary celebration at De Sluis was fantastic. Everything was perfectly organized, and the team did an excellent job. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food delicious, and the service exceptionally friendly and professional. Our 35 guests all felt welcome and enjoyed a wonderful evening. From the reception to the closing ceremony, everything was perfect. We look back on this special day with immense fondness. A huge compliment to everyone at De Sluis who made it possible. We highly recommend this venue!

We had a very good lunch (two courses) for a fair price. Good quality, delicious flavors, the only complaint I could make was that it was too much for us 😉. But since there are big and small eaters... that was entirely our fault. It was nice that we could neatly wrap up the leftovers and take them home (because you never throw away good food). The atmosphere was peaceful and the service was pleasant.

We've been coming here for lunch after hiking on weekends for years. The food was always excellent; not haut cuisine, but simply good. Prepared by a very cheerful chef. For some reason, there was a change of chef. And the love for the food is immediately evident. Burnt grilled cheese, a shoddy tuna sandwich, and, to top it all off, a healthy sandwich without butter, without any sauce, just a plain, dry, thrown-together roll. It was a great motivation for us to go hiking somewhere else and have lunch somewhere that still has a passion for food. It's a real shame, though, because the location is fantastic, and we've always enjoyed our stay.

We had a great meal on a sunny terrace. Despite the crowds and the predicted "long wait due to staff shortages," we were able to eat fairly quickly. Brasserie-style cuisine with a kitchen team that knows what they're doing 👍🏻. We'll be back...

We received friendly service and a good meal. The only thing I found disappointing was that the guacamole, which was supposed to be included with one of our ordered dishes, was missing. When we asked about it, we received an apology and the reply that, unfortunately, they were out of it today.

The grand prize for the most inhospitable terrace in the Netherlands! After a long motorcycle ride, we finally arrived at this terrace as part of our route. Drinks were taken, but we were rudely and rudely refused to place a lunch order. After some insistence, we were told we didn't have a reservation and therefore wouldn't be receiving any food. We arrived on a weekday, and had asked for a light lunch, not a three-course meal. To top it all off, several guests around us told us they also didn't have a reservation, but were being served food. It's ridiculous how this completely arbitrary (or at least not so arbitrary...) discrimination is made between paying customers. Thankfully, a few friendly visitors referred us to another restaurant in Weert (which we were completely unfamiliar with), where we received a very hospitable welcome and had a delicious lunch. So, my advice to everyone is to avoid this place and go straight to the Schuttershoeve in Weert, where they understand how to treat guests in the hospitality industry.

Na een lange motorrit hier uiteindelijk als onderdeel van onze route gearriveerd bij dit terras, drankjes werden wel opgenomen maar ons werd op een botte en onfatsoenlijke manier geweigerd om een bestelling voor de lunch op te geven. Na wat aandringen kregen we te horen dat we geen reservering hadden en daarom geen eten kregen, we kwamen notabene op een doordeweekse dag en vroegen niet om een 3-gangen menu, maar enkel een licht lunchgerechtje. Als klap op de vuurpijl wisten meerdere gasten om ons heen ons te vertellen dat ook zij geen reservering hadden, maar wel eten geserveerd kregen. Belachelijk dus hoe op compleet willekeurige (of toch niet zo willekeurige…) manier onderscheid wordt gemaakt tussen betalende klanten. Godzijdank waren er een paar vriendelijke bezoekers die ons door verwezen naar een andere horecagelegenheid in Weert (waar wij compleet onbekend waren) en waar we op heel gastvrije manier ontvangen zijn en heerlijk hebben geluncht. Dus mensen mijn advies mijd deze tent en rij linea recta door naar de Schuttershoeve in Weert waar ze wel begrijpen hoe je in de horeca met gasten om hoort te gaan.

To celebrate our (deceased) parents' birthday, five of us enjoyed a delicious lunch at Restaurant De Sluis. The food and service were excellent.

The tables could be cleaned a bit better and empty plates etc. could be removed sooner!

Terrible. We had to ask for the menu three times, bring soup for the kids, but no spoon. The food finally arrives, but we have to ask for cutlery again.

Ballentent: we wilden lunchen met drie personen. De tafel werd niet afgeruimd en een snotjoch, die deed alsof hij de manager was, gaf tamelijk onbeschoft aan dat we niet konden lunchen. Reden: te weinig personeel! 4 km verderop bij De Schuttershoeve waren we meer dan welkom. Kortom: mijden die tent.

I ordered the carbonara, while my husband went for the tuna pizza. Carbonara: The sauce was nicely balanced—not too rich or overpowering. The bacon was generously served, but personally I found it a little too oily. Tuna Pizza: Thin and crispy crust, generously topped. The tuna flavor was fresh and present in every bite. Service: The staff were friendly, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in.

I have been here with family for the 2nd time. Food is fine. Service is fast and host is very friendly, they did their best! we will definitely come back here.

Quite a nice restaurant with play areas for the kids. Nice for a coffee, but the food was, unfortunately, absolutely terrible. The kids' Bolognese was okay, the schnitzel was borderline pre-made. The crowning glory was a nearly inedible spaghetti carbonara drenched in flavor enhancers. 😩

Ridiculous service. After asking 3 times, we received our coffee and cappuccino after 45 minutes. We had to bring in the pie ourselves and pay for it immediately.

Het was het allemaal net niet. Bediening was ronduit meh het eten was niet vers (creme brullee smaakte over de datum) de spareribs waren net lauw en de carpaccio smakeloos je moest kruiden toevoegen voor smaak en de sla misste.

We were served yesterday at 3:30 PM and only at 4:00 PM someone arrived after us, the food was very poor, 2 stars, how can something like this happen, never again. Kind regards.

Very chaotic. All the personal was in panic. Two of the main ingredients in my dish was missing. Also was not possible to pay to the server. We need to go inside and to pay on the bar. The lady there didn’t know from which table we are. At least the weather was nice.

We gingen zitten en de tafel werd afgeruimd. Stonden nog dingen van de vorige klanten op. We hebben 20 minuten gewacht op bediening en zijn maar weer vertrokken. Ze hebben niet eens door dat er mensen zijn die geen service hebben gehad. Eerste keer en nooit meer!

1st visit to this restaurant for a lunch on 01.December.24. It’s is a nice country style restaurant perfect for families and lunch and dinners. It’s large and has a nice sitting area. I noticed there was not an English menu available. Food and everything we ordered was nice and came out fast. It is reasonable priced. I recommend this place

Actually we can't give a score. But after more than 20 minutes without service we left. Certainly not the most friendly and customer-friendly staff!!

27-10-2024 Had lunch at the lock. We sat comfortably inside in the café area (we were not allowed in the conservatory with our dog). Service was smooth, the food was excellent (good portions, fresh ingredients) and the price was okay. We will definitely come back!

Package booked on 31-08-2024 (split) with Hans de Rijk chef for 21 people. Everything was top notch again with excellent food as always and then some nice bowling. Hans thanks for the good care and the excellent food and also for the service (Hoessaïn and the rest of the boys) during the bowling, it was really well organised.

My experience: the food is tasty, but I look at the menu and see an Italian roll with carpaccio. It contains carpaccio, truffle mayo, parmesan cheese and arugula and pine nuts. So I order a carpaccio sandwich without arugula and pine nuts and then get a carpaccio sandwich with truffle mayo and parmesan cheese and capers and onion and tomato... those 3 extra things that are not mentioned and I don't like it all, but it made a difference in the end. It didn't matter to me because I gave it to one of the other people I had dinner with. It's just a shame it wasn't on the menu. For the rest it looked good and there was a nice atmosphere

Cozy brasserie in a great location near the Kempen-Broek walking area. Hospitable staff, the price/quality is excellent. Most dishes are recommended. I come there regularly and only the tuna salad needs improvement. Delicious pie too!

Nice place, but we had to wait over an hour for the main course. Besides the fact that you have to wait extremely long, the food is also not good. Fries were tough and the hamburger bun was also tough. There was no sauce on it, and no curry/ketchup was supplied. Management is incompetent and not friendly.

Heerlijk gegeten op het terras, vriendelijke en snelle bediening (wij waren met een baby van 6 maanden). Gamba’s en kipsaté zijn aanraders!

The service was ok. Need a bit more experience but will come with time. Pizza super small and just frozen pizza rewarm. Meat was horrible. Not the worst burger in my life. The second worst. Tried to give the meat to the street cat hanging out around. The cat didn’t like it.

Delicious food for a great price

Today we had a nice meal here with 5 people. We ordered several dishes and we really enjoyed them. Portions are large but not too. We only stayed for a short time because our daughter was very tired but we... Would love to come back. Also very thoughtful that the chef briefly asked if the food was tasty Used to be. Last time (June 6) we had dinner there with our family for a birthday. We had to wait an extremely long time for the food and yet a mistake was made with a dish that meant someone had to wait until other people had finished eating... I personally thought this was due to the crowds so I wanted to try it again today. give a chance. I called twice in advance and was not answered. It looked quite quiet, but when we sat (outside) someone later came (who I thought we could order from) with the announcement that we could only have a drink but not eat... This was because it had been "busy", the chef is overworked and this is too much. Because of this I will never come to this restaurant again! Ridiculous

Iov ham tomaat gevraagd. Niet gekregen. Wel Betaald! Zoutpotje al met vroege lunch heel vettig. Bah! Heel lauwe reactie aan de kassa. Bediening wel vriendelijk maar deed ook niet veel. Al eerder meegemaakt. Slechte omgang van oudere personeelsleden.

Very good food and excellent service

If you, as a truck driver, want to eat there, you have to sit at the bar and indicate that you are a truck driver. They have good menus for decent prices. You can park your truck a little further along the water, which is especially nice in the summer.

On holiday in Weert and had a delicious lunch at Restaurant De Sluis. Nice terrace outside with plenty of shade, so you can enjoy the delicious food outside in sunny weather.

Very good food and fast service and all the waiters were very friendly.

Worthless, the cook was too busy we were not allowed to order, when it was allowed to order again, the tapas board was gone, but the cheese board was also gone, so it was time for the machos, a pity, so there was something wrong with that. Too bad, but unfortunately for us never again.

Food quite good, long wait, very unfriendly staff. The excuse was that it was very busy, but other tables that came after us were helped earlier. When I asked the question for the 2nd time, it was busy in the kitchen again. I replied to this: if it takes too long, I'll be gone. Apparently it had helped and we were served. There were a striking number of strangers in and around the location, so I didn't feel completely comfortable on location.

Not received kindly by employee upon arrival. She was busy, it was noticeable, it seemed like she would rather get rid of us. The conservatory is noisy, difficult to talk to 4 people, you can hardly hear each other, so everyone talks louder. Ordered pasta carbonara. The pasta was dry, not enough cream sauce. There are supposed to be mushrooms, I counted no less than 3. So dry pasta, little taste. Not a good choice.

Because we wanted to have lunch, we took a seat in the conservatory. There were a lot of flies and the table was dirty. After waiting a while, an unfriendly young lady came to ask what we wanted to drink. We asked for a cloth for the dirty table. When we finished our drinks our table was still not clean. We went for lunch elsewhere.

Very noisy in the conservatory, difficult to have a conversation. Service is very variable, after half an hour I asked for the menu. 1 waiter who had an overview, but he couldn't do it alone.

Wir waren mit 11 Erwachsenen und 4 Kindern dort zum Abendessen.Bei der Reservierung bekamen wir eine Speisekarte zum Auswählen mit.Die Gerichte wurden dann per Mail bestellt. Nachdem die Getränke verteilt waren wurde zügig das Essen serviert.Es war super organisiert,alles korrekt und sehr lecker. Preis-Leistung war hervorragend.Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

Had a drink here on the terrace! When we arrived it was quite busy and we sat at a table that was occupied just before. It then took a very long time for them to take the empty glasses from the group in front of us. Even when we had our drink it was still there... otherwise it's okay to relax for a while.

Had a lovely lunch here with a friend. Nice lunch menu and a cozy atmosphere, especially in the conservatory. It was a bit busy for 1 person serving but we will take that as a good sign😉 I will definitely come back!

The sause is very nice. However, the serving was a bit off. Too small amount of zalm and many garnish. The pasta used was spaghetti (quite a bit odd choice). The pasta was not evenly cooked - undercooked, and there was a chuncked that was burned. Done rushed? Maybe better next time.

The food was just okay, but unfortunately the waiter threw his tray over my mother! Yes, it can happen, right? All of the clothes were wet, luckily the owner had seen this! And what do you think? No, he didn't come to see how and what and/or my mother was doing. Luckily there were no hot drinks, pfieuw! And what do you think? You get a pathetic apology and you can deal with that!!!! Strange to be referred to another review...which also does not fully discuss the content. The pity is that we had already been sitting at a table in the restaurant...we were immediately asked to leave without being welcomed. No alternative was offered. Apparently the table was filled quite quickly due to a reservation.??? and we couldn't stay there for half an hour, after all we just wanted something to drink. He sees us walking to the conservatory with our dog, but does not inform us that dogs are not allowed there. We also didn't see it anywhere. We were again not welcomed or greeted friendly in the conservatory, but were immediately told what was not allowed, the dog in the conservatory. We indicated that we had already been sent away and that there was only room here. We were able to sit there and he apologized (the only friendly thing about this experience). The third came...again immediately indicating what is not allowed. Every time no alternative was offered or at least we were welcomed. If the clerk had been a little more customer-oriented, there would have been no problem. All in all it was not a very warm welcome for us.

Today we wanted to have a drink at the lock after a walk in the woods with our dog. After sitting at one table for more than 10 minutes, we were asked to sit at another table. There was still 1 table that had not been cleared in the conservatory. Once we were there, number 1 came to tell us that dogs are not allowed in the conservatory. When asked why not in the conservatory and at the other tables, no answer was given... but we were allowed to sit there... for no less than 2 minutes... then number 2 came and told us that we were not allowed to sit there... Our dog has never been a problem before... today it suddenly was... Today was the last time we visited the lock. for dog owners: find something else because there is no warm welcome for you here.

A very quiet place, the perfect combination of a well-spent afternoon and a 5-star meal. And when I say 5 stars, believe me. I've seen many places but a creme brulle like here, I only know of 3 places that make it like that. The point of the meat, molos, garnishes...... friends I can go on and on, and the impeccable service, without waiting, with great friendliness and elegance, there is a team of champions here. Too steep stairs going down, also decoration on the stair railing. BBQ was tasty, too bad the tables are too narrow for something like that. Not much cutlery for sauces, etc. to brag, messy. Tomato soup, not tasty
