TIP from a couple who frequent pizzerias: go to ADomani in Bergschenhoek; it's much nicer there (lots of noise here and children running through the restaurant) and the food is really of better quality. It is just a bizarrely busy, chaotic restaurant.

Do not order online!! Our order of €175 had disappeared... "System error" was the answer and no alternative was offered. Very disappointing.

Rushed. We had the starter and main course within half an hour. Because of this, I didn't feel like I was having a pleasant dinner at all. When I gave feedback on this and said I would have liked a bit more time between courses, I received a curt reply: "You should have indicated that beforehand." It's a shame that the passion for the hospitality industry was lacking, even among the other staff. The portions are quite small; I am not a big eater. The food was not very special. Conclusion: I found it very disappointing, although the interior decor is nice.

Fine food, we ordered a surprise menu which was delicious, but it is placed on the table without any explanation. The service could be a bit better.

We have had a fine meal here before. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but the service is good. Delivery or takeout is fine for pizza, but the salads are very meager. Important ingredients (crostini and Parmesan cheese) are missing that are supposed to be in them according to the menu, the portions are very small, and there was a lot of sand on our salad. So, it was a real teeth-grinding experience!

The quality of the food is top-notch.

The three of us ate at Il Mercato. My 27-year-old son was wearing a cap. The staff urgently requested that he take his cap off. Upon asking the owner, it turned out to be the policy that you are not allowed to wear anything on your head in the restaurant. I found it very strange, but the owner couldn't explain why they enforce this policy either. According to him, I should have checked the rules on the website. We did like the food, though.

Tried Il Mercato again, but once again a disappointment. It is a shadow of the Pasto of old. Beer selection: generic fare from the Heineken stable. Pizzas nothing special. Quality is significantly lower than before. This is inevitable given the overly large menu. It is a real shame that the place has turned into a run-of-the-mill concept. Unfortunately, not for us anymore.

Asked something. Repeated three times. Still wrong.

Last night we had dinner with friends at Il Mercato, the old Pasto. The stories we had heard were mixed, so we wanted to experience for ourselves what it is like now. The layout of the restaurant was virtually the same; the decor and furniture looked nice. There was plenty of choice on the menu, but our eyes were immediately drawn to the prices… We ordered the prawns in oil, calamari, and mussels as starters. The prawns were fine but ridiculously priced: 6 small prawns and a mini bread roll for 16.50…. The other 2 starters were okay. The main courses were fine in terms of portion size but also quite pricey. The dessert, I had the Budino Classico, was also absurdly priced: 12.- for a coffee cup with a scoop of ice cream and some side dishes. The bill eventually came to just under 300.- euros; we ate and drank well, but I am afraid the prices of some dishes are not realistic. This is a case of ‘we’ve been there,’ but this restaurant won’t make it onto our list of favorite restaurants in the area.

We sat on the terrace with lots of flies!! The waiter's recommendations were way below par and not worth the money. Pizza with shrimp and arugula. Pizza Polo tasted good though. The starter was too salty and unfortunately fried a bit too long. Drinks are quite pricey here but tasty. 80 euros for 2 people

What a huge disappointment, waited well over an hour for the ordered, tasteless pasta, extremely small portions, so I went home unsatisfied and with an empty wallet. Not recommended.

Tasty dishes, good flavors. Spaghetti carbonara portions were small though. And bacon was very broken up. Friendly service Great value for money!!

First of all, I would like to point out that the average review score here is largely based on that of the former ‘Pasto’, which can give a distorted picture of what Il Mercato is now. I don’t often write reviews, but since I unfortunately had a really bad experience here recently, and the staff paid no attention to it either, I feel a very strong need to express it through a review, because it really bothers me. In short: the wine was substandard, the beef tenderloin tips in the truffle pasta were so overcooked that they were grey and hard, the pasta, on the other hand, was overcooked and mushy, the vegan truffle risotto was cooked to a pulp and had cheese that tasted like coconut (truffle and coconut is really disgusting!). At a price of €9 per glass, the Provençal rosé was outrageously expensive for what it was. There was even more flavor in the ‘branded water’ that was foisted upon us with the wine. Only the ‘fokazia’ (which meant ‘focaccia’) we received with the wine beforehand was actually tasty, by the way. Otherwise, the staff was very incompetent and uninterested. Asking if we had been able to make a choice while we hadn't even received a menu yet. Having no knowledge of what was on the menu. We subsequently ate our risotto and pasta with a fork and steak knife?!! Asking for a spoon wasn't possible, because the staff were paying more attention to each other than to the customer. No one came by in between courses to ask if everything was to our liking. Even when we asked the staff for the bill quite quickly, with our plates still full and glasses half-empty, no one asked whether it had been to our liking or not. I understand that the answer was already visible, but as a restaurant, do you really not care what the customer experienced, not even as a learning moment, or that someone might post this as a review somewhere at the expense of your reputation? The care and attention that Pasto previously had for its customers, the atmosphere, and the food are nowhere to be found. Matching Pasto really wasn't strictly necessary, but at the very least paying attention to the quality of the food and the customers would have done more than this. This is a real shame.

Shrimp skewers; you can't tell they've been on the grill. Just plain white shrimp on a stick without a single grill mark. The shrimp were also bland in taste; you couldn't taste the grill flavor either, though the sauce was tasty. But a little salt and pepper on your skewer would really finish it off. And get some nice "body peel" shrimp; they look a lot better. Caesar salad. Only the top of your plate is dressed with anchovy and cheese dressing; once you've finished that, you're just eating plain Romaine lettuce. You don't quite get it as a chef; you're just thinking too simply. My table companions had the meat mix, where both the tenderloin and the flank steak had many tough pieces. I would serve better quality meat. Guests always appreciate that. Lots of flies in the restaurant itself; we ate inside. Unpleasant for guests, and for the owner as well. Moreover, the owner of the ice cream shop next door made us stand on the corner of the square if we wanted to smoke. Since when have they been the owners of the public space? We ate here for the first time since it was taken over, but we are leaving it at that.

I thought the decor and the food were fine. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was spoiled for me by the staff. No one managed a smile, and everything felt very rushed and stressed. Additionally, the plates were cleared immediately after the last bite, making it seem as if we had to leave as quickly as possible. I understand that a restaurant needs to operate efficiently and make money in these times, but a slightly more relaxed and hospitable approach would make the experience much more pleasant.

Tried out Il Mercato Berkel today; I could go on and on about it, but for us it wasn't an asset, or maybe it was after all. Il Mercato is mainly aimed at children, so if you have young kids and enough money (for the three of us, no starter, just a main course and coffee with a bottle of rosé, we spent 160 euros!) The food was nothing special; prawns on a skewer were laughable, medium beef tenderloin turned out rare, pork tenderloin was okay... and side dishes like the small portion of pasta are only for 1 person instead of 2, with the justification that people wouldn't eat it otherwise, and are added if you ask for it... I'm paying for it anyway, even if I don't finish my beef tenderloin because it wasn't cooked properly, or the half carrot as a garnish, just leave that out too... Why might it be an asset after all... if parents with young children go there, it saves playing children between the tables at the better competitors in Berkel 😉 Advised friends to eat elsewhere

Unfortunately, the ' обновленный' version is no longer as nice as before. I found it chaotic; the staff didn't really know what to do. Lots of young staff, who were walking around looking really burned out and confused towards the end of the evening. My reservation was lost, someone else was already seated under my name, but I still got a spot. Fine. A glass of water was already cleared away while we weren't finished yet and still had water in the bottle. We got up briefly to go to the toilet (5 minutes max) and our food that was still there was simply piled up, and another couple was already sitting in our spot. I have truly never experienced anything like this before. The food wasn't anything special either. A shame, not worth a repeat visit for me.

We had such a delicious meal there. Fish trio and tenderloin. Served by Terry, an incredibly friendly and lovely host.

Il Mercato is a great addition to Berkel & Rodenrijs. Spacious terrace, beautifully decorated restaurant with Italian design, nice round seating areas, and comfortable sofas. The dishes were all perfectly prepared, well-seasoned, and served reasonably quickly. The service is friendly and attentive. In short, highly recommended, and we will definitely be back!!

I visited this restaurant last Sunday. The food was decent and the atmosphere was okay, but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Although the staff was friendly, everything was handled rather sloppily and unprofessionally. After dinner, our empty plates remained on the table for over an hour without anyone coming to collect them. We were also not asked if we wanted to order anything else or drink. When the starters were served, we even had to rearrange the plates on the table ourselves to make room. This gave a messy and disorganized impression. In short: friendly staff and acceptable food, but the service is a real issue and significantly detracts from the experience.

Yesterday, I picked up some pasta bolognese from Il Mercato. When I opened the container, there was very little pasta inside. I went back and explained the situation. I pointed out that I paid 15 euros for this and that the portion is small for that price. An employee went to the kitchen to inquire if this is standard practice and indicated that the pasta is weighed. I believe that if you eat a starter, main course, and dessert in the restaurant, it is sufficient, but the portion for takeaway is insufficient and does not match other takeaway restaurants in Berkel. I would have preferred if some extra pasta had been made, but unfortunately, that was not possible. The taste was good, however, and there was plenty of cheese.

A beautiful restaurant. Delicious dishes and friendly staff. We had: bruschetta (10/10), lasagna (8.5/10), pasta bolognese (9/10), pasta carbonara (6.5/10) was a bit dry, little sauce. Pizza (8/10) was very tasty but just a bit too many chili flakes, making it very spicy.

Tasty pizzas, beautiful pastas, and otherwise authentic, real Italian food. The flavors are fine. The service is personal and there is good beer on tap in nice, clean glasses. They understand what hospitality should be here. Highly recommended.

Wasn't very impressed with the main course. The starter was fine: prawns in oil and fried squid. But we had the mixed grill, which was very dry. We weren't asked how we wanted it either. The Roosevelt potatoes were limp and greasy, not crispy dry potatoes. The mushrooms with garlic were fine, but if you manage to ruin that... Dessert was also fine. We have been three times now since the takeover. We also had pizzas. These were consistently limp and very wet as well. Very different from Pasto. The pizzas used to be crispy and "less is more." The chef is the same person. So it really comes down to the ingredients that have changed.

I ate at Il Mercato Berkel for the first time today. What a beautiful location, and just as lovely an ambiance and staff as the other places. And I haven't even started talking about the food yet ;) delicious!

We have been going to Pasto right from the start, but last Tuesday was a bit of a disappointment for the first time. We had to wait over 45 minutes for our food and the pizzas were not of the quality we are used to. The topping was very greasy and not very flavorful. The service, however, is very friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful meal in a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was delicious. The price-quality ratio is also excellent. Keep it up!

A lovely Italian restaurant with a modern twist, yet a great atmosphere. The six of us had a delicious meal. The food was definitely good, the service was pleasant and good, and the prices were reasonable. Eating out isn't cheap in the Netherlands, but compared to other places, Pasto offers reasonable value for money.

Beautiful place, delicious dining and hospitable.

For a restaurant during Christmas, I thought it lacked a Christmas atmosphere. Otherwise, it was a neat restaurant with excellent service. The food was perfectly cooked, but unfortunately, it was bland. This was true for several dishes at the table. Such a shame.

It's a cozy restaurant, with tables for two people stacked on top of each other, which means there's no privacy while you're chatting. We ate here a few years ago. I had the anchovy dip as a starter, which was served with a bowl of pesto and a delicious salad, and of course, the wonderful bread. Now it's just the bread and the anchovy dip, which is delicious and I'm glad it's back on the menu, but it's very sparse now and quite pricey at 16.50 euros.

Right? What's the point? We went with Anita and the right couple (chef Mathieu and Natasha), and even Tuesday night was fantastic! We had a delicious meal from the extensive menu. We were able to see the beautiful dishes. And we were allowed to finish with the biggest dessert (or the heaviest). And of course, we went outside last, as it should be! We'll definitely be back!

Delicious food and drinks. Friendly staff. Good-sized portions. In the summer, you can sit outside. The interior is practical and inviting. You can also get Italian items like prosecco and oil.

Lovely place to eat, I can recommend it to everyone

After two very unsatisfactory lunches, this time it was dinner. The meat wasn't cooked evenly, it was a bit tough. The dessert was a mess; the flavors were indistinguishable, as if it had been old for several days. The price was too high for the quality. A shame.

Delicious and atmospheric. I especially like the tenderloin, paired with the standard house red wine. Original pizzas that are delicious. We had a wonderful time here with friends.

I had the Bresaola con pistache and spaghetti Ragu which were both excellent. Panna cotta was nice but not traditional, so no hard caramel later. Service was great. Acoustics not great when busy.

Upon arrival, we heard the chef yelling at his server/colleague: "They have to order immediately, and only the lunch menu is available." This wasn't exactly a pleasant way to start a Sunday afternoon. Apparently, there weren't many other people in the restaurant, and we were the only ones who wanted something tasty. So we immediately got up and left the restaurant.

Simply excellent! Generous portions (the mussels could have been a bit smaller). Delicious fish and pork belly. More than enough for us. We enjoyed a lovely meal outside in the shade. The service was quick and friendly. We'll be back soon!

Very good food. Not cheap. And not 100 types of pizza either. But everything is very tasty. We started with an anti-pasta board. Or actually pyramid or nicely served. That was actually so filling that I was already dreaming about a dessert but I took another week-special-in advance. A ball of eel mouse covered with smoked salmon with a delicious horseradish sauce around it. Then the desserts. My wife a cortado (coffee with ice) and I a cheese board. But that was quite big with 10 pieces of cheese but oh so tasty. Delicious food. Afterwards we got a glass of orange-red pepper limoncello. It was a party. The service was very attentive. Up for a chat, not pushy. Very nice. Bill € 110, - incl tip. It was worth it twice over.

Cozy with a friend booked here because of the good reviews. Great ambiance, although the tables seem a bit close together. You hardly notice that. Friendly staff. It is already quite full when we arrive around 6 pm. Half open kitchen, which gives a familiar feeling. After studying the menu, we first order the squid rings and the oyster mushroom croquettes to share. Very tasty. Both recommended. The special menu has grilled tuna steak with tomato, olive oil, capers and lemon on it. Sounds like music to the ears! But... it could be me, I didn't taste the capers and lemon. We also found the steak a bit dry and not that nice grilled. The antiboise was very tasty. The salad we ordered was a bit small for two 🙄, but the potatoes were great. No desserts this time, but a good coffee. As a surprise, when you pay, you get a limoncello of four flavors, as a gift from the business. Really very tasty. Clean, neat toilets. In any case a neat, clean impression of the entire restaurant. I will definitely come back, but then for another dish from the menu.

Went for dinner with a group of 4 people on a Saturday evening. Reservations are necessary, always busy but never too busy. The food is excellent, all 4 of us had a different dish and it tasted great. Beautiful semi-open kitchen for an extra experience. Nice operation. Nice cozy restaurant for a pleasant evening.

In one word AMAZING, every time!!

Unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated in recent years. When it first opened, Number of times and was it value for money. Had bad experiences recently, tried twice. Unfortunately, for me it was the last time. Shame!

Best Italian in the region, the food is always good and the service really couldn't be better.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We waited over 40 minutes for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was a big disappointment. We ordered the Salami Buffalo pizza, but it was really bad – the salami did not smell fresh and the pizza was way too greasy, making it inedible. For my daughter, we ordered the spaghetti ragù from the children’s menu, but it was spicy, making it inedible. We reported our concerns to the waitress, but unfortunately our complaints were not listened to at all. There was no apology from the kitchen, nor was there an offer to remove the dishes from the bill. All in all, a very disappointing visit. I would not recommend this restaurant.

With 5 people eaten (lunch). 2 people with various food allergies, including gluten free necessary. Chef came to the table for consultation and what the possibilities were. There were many options! Everything freshly made. Everyone ate super delicious! Nice place too and very neat! 5 stars more than deserved! Will definitely come back here!

We ate here on a Sunday evening, it was not very busy, but I thought we had to wait quite a long time for our pizza. It was a special from the weekly menu. We both didn't think he was that special. It was nothing more than a pizza with tomato sauce and some meat on it, really not special for the money! The starter 'the basket of bread' was also not special, bread had already been cut because it was behind me on a cutting board in the shop, and it was old. All in all, not worth 100.00 (!) Euros.

Super friendly staff and nice atmosphere. My colleague and I found the pasta a bit on the dry side, but otherwise it was tasty. Tiramisu tasted very good. All in all, the food was fine, but not particularly special.

Pauper. Ate here 2 weeks ago, Sat Nov 9. Food was okay and not special. Staff was a mess and no manners. We arrived quite late, because we could only make a late reservation. Because the staff was so chaotic, we asked why it was such chaos. We got back "we'll be ready as soon as you leave." I have never experienced this before. You may also have to allow an adult person to stay in the store instead of a children's playground. 1 person immediately indicated that he does not eat pork and this was apparently difficult to adjust. The good reviews are probably friends of the boss and employees, because if you give more than 4 stars for this store... then you have never been to a good restaurant. Also some nice information I learned from the staff; cocktails cannot be made that are not on the menu, because they would have been made earlier.

We have been a regular guest at Pasto Berkel for more than 5 years and it is always a pleasure to eat here! The tastiest pizzas in the area, but also delicious Italian specialties. The service is always super attentive and the Limoncellos you get on the house complete the Italian experience! The perfect restaurant for both a romantic evening for 2 and an evening with a group of friends/family.

For the starter I took the tuna; it was delicious. However, the pizza which was my mine course was a bit of a disappointment for an Italian restaurant. The pizza was very oily, the crust was non-existent. It felt like the same quality you would get from a foodtruck, this despite having a beautiful pizza oven. Overall, the atmosphere was great, but the pizzas could be improved a lot.

It was nice food and the staff certainly did their best. Only sometimes they went past each other.

My husband and I recently visited your restaurant for the first time, and we had a great experience. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who kindly spoke to me in English and was very helpful in explaining the menu, especially since we are vegetarians. She informed us that the risotto could be made vegetarian, which we appreciated, and also recommended a good wine. The food was excellent. I particularly enjoyed the pasta with mushrooms and truffle, which was delicious. My husband liked his margarita pizza, though he mentioned that the base could be more authentic. The restaurant itself was very clean and modern. I also enjoyed the different varieties of Limoncello offered at the end of our meal, which was a nice touch. We're looking forward to returning in the future. I would suggest that you add a few more vegetarian options on the menu.

This restaurant is located on a pleasant square. There is a spacious terrace. The service is very friendly and the food - consisting of fresh products - is well prepared and very tasty. Recommended!!

The atmosphere on the square is a bit quiet, but the staff and the food make up for it. This really makes it feel like dining out. Nice menu with well-known dishes, but also some special dishes. Something for everyone and very tasty. Wine list with more than enough options.

Just like in Ermelo, delicious Italian dishes here, very nice service and a limoncello on the house! Finally being able to sit outside, which makes you feel more “Mediterranean”.

If you eat here there is always a surprise. Whether it's the limoncello at the end, or the friendliness of the staff. They always think along! The food is just good, but the service makes me really enjoy eating here!! Thank you!!
