The weather was fantastic, which always helps, but the gran berry cheesecake would have tasted delicious even in bad weather.

The Whale and the view is the Hawaii of the Netherlands; top holiday (feeling) always. It turns out they are expanding considerably. You will experience no inconvenience from the Landal Resort next door and I even think that this has allowed them to expand. No dinner is no problem (but well thought out), but the closing time is too early.

From the harbor it is a short 5 minute walk. When the sun shines you can sit on the terrace. The service was very fast and friendly. The price for special beer was not too high, around 5 euros.

Cozy tent. Tuna sandwich and falafel sandwich were both very tasty. Together with a delicious Herton Jan Weizener and Pinot Grigio and the sun with a beautiful view, we had a delicious lunch

My mint tea tastes like water and I asked for honey and I didn't even get it😭

Cookies not to nibble, tea was ok but the mint tea tasted like water, they didn't give honey.

This will be your very first stop on Terschelling! When you get off the boat, it's a five-minute walk and you can enjoy this amazing view and in our case - delicious croquettes.

You shouldn't miss this place, of course, if only for the view. Nice, somewhat busy beach pavilion. Menu has some unexpected changing dishes, not all dishes are available every day, but that only becomes apparent on site.

Cozy place where I had a cappuccino with apple pie. It's a shame that dogs are allowed in everywhere, that's really dirty in a restaurant, but that's the case all over Terschelling and there's no way around it. There are even people who sit their dogs on their laps, does no one realize that the poop bacteria then simply end up on the table?

Fantastic view and a nice place to sit, but somehow the messiness has disappeared a bit and it is therefore a little less fun than it used to be. A place where we go at least a few times every visit to Terschelling!

The old part is nice to sit in. Unfortunately, the chance of getting a spot there is small. The map is fine. Location is great, overlooking the dunes and the (wadden) sea. Service was a bit curt last Thursday and seemed stressful.

Because it was very busy we were not helped quickly. The prices are okay, not cheap. The toilet was okay but on the small side. The view is great!

The food was really tasty. The cranberry cheesecake and the Italian bread with the homemade tuna salad were really good. The atmosphere was a little less, because it can be very busy here. The service, on the other hand, was smooth.

This is a great spot if you have some time before boarding ferry as it’s just across the port. We had coffee and cake here which were both great. Our waitress was very kind as well.

At the end of the afternoon after a day of cycling on beautiful Terschelling, we stopped at De Walvis for a drink. The view over the Green Beach is fantastic. Friendly service, an excellent menu (we had already reserved a table at a restaurant, otherwise we would definitely stay for dinner) and the location is excellent.

It is often very busy so if you want to sit outside you have to be lucky or patient!

I wanted to celebrate a special moment today, unfortunately not here. The website states; "no reservations and we make no exceptions to this". Upon arrival, the only table available was reserved. I requested that this be stated differently on the website. I am dismissed by the staff as: "is wrong on the menu smarty-pants". What hospitality 😉. Things are really different for us.

Smooth nice service. Pastries and coffee were fine. Unfortunately the tea wasn't really my genre so I had to have it fresh. Unfortunately no sprite or seven up either. The view remains fantastic. We used to come here often, but here too there was a shortage of staff and therefore adjusted opening hours.

There are few places to sit outside and we were not allowed to move chairs if someone wanted to sit outside with the group, so a few had to stand. The food was good and the view is very nice.

It's worthless for people with disabilities. My husband and I wanted to have a cup of coffee there this afternoon, and since he can hardly walk a meter, his bicycle is his aid no matter what is on it. He placed his bike as close to him as possible, and I placed mine at the indicated spot. But immediately a curly redhead came to ask if he wanted to get his bike out of there because of the guests. But the guests were not bothered by it at all. So no more Whale for us to drink coffee with. 😡😡😡 Can't get any crazier. So now we are being called liars. He had to remove the bicycle, her boss had told her because it would bother the guests. Well I have read the reviews from the past few years. How you were in the beginning and how you are now. Sorry I don't have a good word to say about it.😡😡😡

Nice place to sit but not more than that.

It's a shame that this beautiful place is only open during the day due to a shortage of staff. A few pragmatic choices also have an effect on the atmosphere: Chardonnay in the sun is less tasty from a Duralex glass...

You have to come here for the view. Enjoy a nice wine or beer. Complete holiday feeling.

De Walvis has been closing early for years due to staff shortages. Now at 6:15 PM last chance to order food. No more potato dishes to order (no, no fries either). With the plate still half full we had to pay at 6:30 PM. Since “shared dining” that bill is also twice as high as it was a few years ago. If you run your restaurant like this, I understand that you have difficulty finding or retaining staff. Still 3 stars because of the great view and what De Walvis once was.

Croquette sandwich was mainly greasy, tasteless croquettes and bread that does not belong with croquettes. And not really tasty mustard but with something of a tasteless sludge of mustard mayonnaise. The carpaccio figurines were also not great. A nice location and beautiful view.
