Pizza pasta bar in Burgwallen-Oude Zijde

From the name, I wasn't expecting anything special, but the pizza was delicious, the staff very friendly, and the place, though small, was very welcoming. We even had a visit from a beautiful cat, probably from the restaurant.

They always have the "reserved" sign ready to turn people away. The poor service and generally bad atmosphere left us very disappointed. To top it all off, the manager stood in a corner of the terrace, constantly watching his employees with his arms crossed and a bad attitude.

The place has nothing to do with Italian cuisine.

Ladies and Gentlemen, We entered your establishment with considerable anticipation, as it certainly made a respectable impression from the outside. But alas, what a bitter disappointment awaited us! The menus presented to us were so outdated that even a practiced eye struggled to decipher the dishes listed. The selection of drinks was also extremely limited. Only beer and a few soft drinks, including cola, were available. But the truly greatest surprise came when we paid the bill. Prices for the drinks were nowhere to be found on the menus presented to us. We were horrified to discover that a single glass of cola cost the truly princely sum of eight euros. Eight talers for a cola that tasted more like diluted water than a worthy refreshment! Even the two pizzas, at around €15 each, failed to appease us. They weren't inedible by any means, but neither were they of the quality that would justify such a price. So, in the end, we were presented with the hefty bill of €46 for two pizzas and two drinks. Truly, for such a presentation, this bill seems downright princely. The discerning traveler should therefore consider carefully whether they intend to leave their hard-earned money at this establishment. Our verdict: The innkeeper should disclose their prices before the customer is asked to pay. We certainly won't be returning.

There's no drinks menu, for good reason; they wouldn't voluntarily disclose the prices anyway. The food was frozen and fishy shrimp. The waiter can't take any criticism; they'd rather pay over €50 for food that doesn't cause stomach aches and nausea. If you think that because people are sitting there, you can get away with this... NO. Just keep walking. Good luck.

My girlfriend's food arrived 10 minutes before mine. The mixed snacks consisted of three onion rings, a bitterballen, and a mozzarella stick, and I think €9.50 is outrageous. All in all, it tasted okay, but the prices were far too high.

Bad experience. They don't give drink menu when asking a coca cola you receive by default a 50cl for 8 euro. If you ask for a garlic bread they give you a foccacia with the double of price. Felt I have been stohlen and food was low quality.

My review mainly concerns the behavior of the staff. We visited this particular place two nights in a row and ordered both food and beer. The food we had was good and there were no issues with it. On the first evening, we sat down, ate our meal, and left relatively soon after we had finished. On the second evening, however, as soon as we finished eating, the staff started becoming pushy and rude. I constantly saw them hovering around our table and walking back and forth behind us. The moment we finished our food, they quickly came over to clear the plates. About five minutes later, the waiter came over with the card terminal for us to pay. He could tell that I was annoyed and asked whether I wanted him to come back later. I told him that since he was already there, I would pay. Meanwhile, I had only drunk about half of the beer I had ordered. Less than ten minutes later, he came back and said, “Sorry, because today is a busy day, could you go inside?” Absolutely unacceptable, especially considering that there were at least three empty tables outside at the time. What a shame. On the first evening, we had a very pleasant experience, especially since the place also has a nice view of the church. On the second evening, however, we were extremely disappointed and the whole experience left a bad taste. There definitely won’t be a third visit.

A complete tourist trap! The food is tasteless! The service was very unfriendly and the English was barely understandable! The seating is very cramped! Drinks aren't on the menu! The server demanded payment while we were still eating! On top of that, we were cheated out of €10 because the wrong amount was entered into the card reader! Absolutely not recommended! It's a real shame, because the square right next to the Oude Kerk is a lovely place for a break!

When asked about it, the staff was unfriendly. One dish was forgotten, and a loaf of bread was missing. Despite asking, it never arrived, but I was still charged for it. The food itself was okay, but nothing special (pizza and pasta). Not recommended!

What a disappointment. The menus were barely legible due to fading, and the cutlery on the table was dirty. Moreover, the food was downright bad: the chicken salad tasted like the chicken came from a can, and the burger was extremely greasy and muddy in texture. The staff were very rude, and if you want to use the restroom, there isn't even a toilet seat.

The waiter couldn't speak Dutch, but that didn't matter. Tap water was unavailable, and there was no menu that actually listed drinks. So we opted for water for 4 euros. The place itself was also very expensive, so we expected something in return. I ordered onion rings; I received 5 with very little flavor. My friend had a clearly frozen carpaccio for 14.5! You could only order soft drinks in half-liters. Don't go here!!!

We chose this restaurant because there were still tables available. The menu was partially faded and illegible. There was no drinks menu, and you couldn't order anything other than beer and soft drinks. The pizzas were okay, but the garlic topping we ordered was served separately in a small bowl as an aioli sauce! Besides that, the price was outrageous. Without even asking if we wanted to order anything else, they more or less forced us to pay. Since we apparently hadn't finished our drinks quickly enough, they pointedly placed a "Reserved" sign on the table. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

The worst restaurant I have ever been to in my life. The beer was terrible; several people didn't even finish their glasses. The burger contained—instead of ground beef—some sort of blended patty made of meat and other truly unpleasant ingredients. No drink prices were displayed... stay away.

Service was awful. We had no cutlery when our food arrived and it took several minutes for them to bring it to us when we asked. I received a steak knife to eat spaghetti bolognese. Disappointing experience - not worth the money The atmosphere here was completely dead, lacking any sort of welcoming vibe. To make matters worse, the beers were lukewarm, flat, and tasted as though they had been sitting out for an hour rather than being freshly poured. The food was equally disappointing, consisting of what clearly seemed to be pre-frozen, reheated items. The staff and management appeared to lack basic hospitality training, struggling even to properly pour a pint. I would strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere—a quick search will show you plenty of much better bars in the area.

A lovely little restaurant, quietly located right in the heart of Amsterdam. Contrary to some reviews I've seen, the staff is very friendly and pleasant. The prices might be a bit high compared to the norm, but drinks are served in 50cl glasses, and the servers aren't stingy; they readily added 5 or 10cl. So, in my opinion, the prices aren't excessive. The service was quite fast, especially considering it was rush hour when the restaurant was practically full. We even had a good laugh with the staff. Excellent!

I'm here with my buddy and we received excellent service! The air conditioning and indoor restroom are invaluable on a sunny day! The food was very good, the pizza was beautifully presented and sliced! My buddy thoroughly enjoyed his bruschetta and calzone! He had to wait a little while for his calzone, but otherwise, there was nothing to complain about. The prices weren't too high either; they were clearly stated on the menu. The location right in the heart of De Wild is fantastic! Highly recommended!

Ordered a burger which came without bacon, when I told them at the end, their answer was « Why didn’t you tell me before? » and that was it. No tap water available? Had to pay £4 for a tiny bottle of water (we had ordered other drinks). At the end of the meal, when time to pay, the waiter wouldn’t split the bill.

We orderd Spaghetti Carbonara and penne al‘arrabiata. Both dishes were completly tasteless. We had to put some salt and pepper on our own so we could eat it at least with a little bit of flavour. When we orderd our food, the waiter asked if we wanted some garlicbread and we said yes. We never got it. On the final bill we were charged for the garlicbread aswell. Luckily the other waitress was really kind and took it then off from our bill. Our two drinks together were even more expensiv than the menus we ordered. They had so many tabels outside so that all the tabels next to ours were so near that we felt more like we were a big group of people than just the two of us. Because of that we overheard the orders from our neighbours. They wanted to change somthing smal in a menu and the waitres only said: if the chef doesnt forget, we can do it. We feel like this is no good behavior for a restaurant. I wouldnt want to order something with a change and then theres just a smal chance i actually get what i ordered. We do not recomand this restaurant.

Rude staff, frozen food and no split bill

After looking at the menu, we had high expectations. It sounded very Italian and offered a wide selection. We opted for pasta and mixed snacks as a starter. We ordered small drinks, but they arrived in large sizes (0.5l). After an hour's wait, the starter finally arrived, but it wasn't served as a starter at all, more like a side dish. The pasta was okay, but relatively small for the price (€17.50). However, the mixed snack "platter" (as it was listed on the menu) was a JOKE – SORRY, but I'm not paying €9.50 for a handful of fried/pre-made mozzarella sticks and calamari! The pricing and the staff's apparent incompetence really shocked us. €8 for a 0.5l Sprite 😱 and €60 for two pasta dishes, one mixed snack, and two drinks?! Sorry, but never again 🫠

My review is truly realistic, as we hadn't checked the reviews beforehand and were unfortunately shocked to find we had the exact same bad experience. A large Fanta cost eight euros without any indication of the price or a drinks menu! The pizza and pasta were okay, maybe three stars at most, quite alright as a snack. But my so-called garlic bread was three slices of dry white bread with pre-made butter on the side, and the tomato salad consisted of one meaty tomato, carelessly sliced, with nothing else! We didn't complain, but it was truly awful! The location was great, a lovely terrace on a quiet side street. The waiters were mostly attentive and quite competent and friendly.

Fatty mush of onion that tasted like cat food. IT SUCKS! I'm sorry to say. IT IS A TOURIST TRAP! A bill for €51 in total for 15 tiny snacks and 4 drinks!🤬 For this insane price you should get a platter of at least 35 snacks with a decent amount of souce (Mayonaise, Curry, Mustard etc.). Waited for over 25 minutes to get a snack that should take a maximum preperation time of 5 minutes. Oh! And in the kitchen, there is a cat littering bin located. Oh my god! Never go here! We went here to eat because the place looked really cozy from the outside. Unfortunately, that was all the good I got. We ordered a lasagna al forno, even though it wasn't on the menu. We were told that was no problem, and a pizza. First, we were served two pizzas. No explanation. No questions asked. They were just placed there. Cutlery was nowhere to be seen. Then, my pizza was suddenly taken away from me, and a lasagna was brought instead—a regular lasagna, not what we had originally discussed. All of this happened without any clear communication or apology. That's simply unprofessional. Still no cutlery. When my wife asked for garlic oil for her pizza, she received aioli. That's not the same thing. Again, no explanation, no attempt to accommodate her. The drink prices are exorbitant, and the service was unfriendly. The stairs to the restroom are in poor condition, and the view into the kitchen didn't exactly inspire confidence. The chef even made a brief appearance, but the overall impression didn't improve. The pizza was still unusable. And to top it all off, my wife and I ended up suffering from nausea and vomiting. That pretty much says it all. We weren't the only ones who were quite surprised that evening; a young group of English people were also very shocked by the drinks. (By the way, when we asked, we were told there wasn't a drinks menu.) In hindsight, we should have read the reviews beforehand. Unfortunately, the ambiance masks many of the problems.

If you want to be sick all night because of their food that looks like it came straight from Lidl's freezers… My girlfriend and I arrived, and at first we thought the setting was quite nice before encountering the absolutely dreadful staff (except for one rather nice but completely clueless gentleman). When we went to order, we found it odd that we weren't given a drinks menu, so we asked for one ourselves. We were told they didn't have one, but that they had all the soft drinks (we could sense the horror coming). So we ordered our meal: baked Bolognese pasta; seafood pasta; and a focaccia. Everything tasted like it had just come out of the microwave, and the Bolognese pasta even had little crunchy bits (who knows what they could have been, maybe the cook's fingernails?). It was only then that we received our "Cokes"... which turned out to be glasses of fizzy syrup. Later, during our meal, a woman burst into the establishment. She wasn't entirely herself and started ranting at the staff, so they kicked her out after she started spouting all sorts of nonsense, including the fact that she was Ukrainian. To which the owner replied, "F*ck Ukrainian." The atmosphere was certainly lively, but not the one we had originally envisioned. The meal ended in a spectacular fashion (sarcasm intended) when we received the bill and understood why the drinks weren't listed on the menu... €8 for a glass of water with an aftertaste of Coke! The result: three days later, I still have food poisoning that caused me to vomit in Amsterdam train station… as you can imagine, I don't recommend the place and I even encourage you to shut it down for everyone's sake…

We were desperate for somewhere to eat but I wish we had checked reviews before settling in to do so, because we weren't that desperate! The food was incredibly poor quality and disgraceful at the price. The burgers were the worst quality you could buy at a supermarket and had been wafted in the general direction of a grill. I was disappointed to discover that they only serve beer and excruciatingly expensive soft drinks and nothing else. For a while I couldn't work out what the repeated clattering noise was, but then noticed the large crate into which the servers were hurling plates and cutlery. Not particularly appetising when you're sitting next to it. 79 Euros was a lot to pay for something that I'd be disappointed with at McDonald's. This place should be shut down.

Avoid this place. Eveything went wrong. They forgot the order, then brought food that is not fully cooked. They forgot one burger and then brought one that we didnt even order. They dont have drink menu so you pay 8 euros for a coke. Staff is rude.

The wait for your order was very long (up to 40 minutes), and the drinks weren't listed on the menu, so it was quite a surprise when the bill arrived. Furthermore, the waiter's perspiration smell was rather unpleasant as he frequently walked behind you. And the bill was quite expensive for the small amount of food and the not-so-great portion size. Not bad, but best avoided.

Hoenstly not one for a negative review but this is by far one of the worst places ive been too! The host/owner or worker barley said a word. We waited 10mins to take our order which wasn't bad at all but over all an hour went by before the food was bought to us (missing 1 dish that showed up 30mins later ). Overall food was from a microwave, plain, tasteless and not made with any thought just slumped into a bowl. Only when we realised this place was a no go did we then read reviews and all the negative ones matched the experience we had this evening. Hoenstky id absolutely avoid this place. We paid €9 for a pint of coke. Absolute robbed but yeah. If you go hope you have a better experience and better food then we did.

We received an unfriendly welcome from a very unfriendly waiter/owner and were seated right next to the door, which was repeatedly left open due to deliveries to the adjacent restaurant – despite the cold. Our request to have it closed was ignored; instead, it was slammed shut the next time we left. A 0.5-liter Coke cost €8, and drink prices weren't listed on the menu. When we inquired, we received the curt reply: "Why didn't you ask? You're allowed to ask." The food was up to two-star standards, but the wait was long – over 50 minutes.

AVOID. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. We asked for tea, no hot drinks available as the machine was broken. We were first in and last to be served - we waited over an hour for our food. One couple came in and left after some time as they were not served at all. Monotonous music was played off a phone through a speaker, the calls to the phone were coming through to the speaker and therefore played to the restaurant! When our meals finally did arrive, the bacon on my partners burger was completely raw (see pictures). He sent it back and no apology or alternate meal was offered - he just shared my pizza instead which was average, at best. The waiter coughed openly into the air the whole time we were there. No compensation offered for the awful experience - do not eat here!!! I cannot believe they’re actually open.

Gypsy guitar music in an Italian restaurant. Food definitely defrosted. Supermarket pizza in my opinion. €80 for 4 drinks, 3 bruschetta, 1 pizza. A real rip-off. Other customers were arguing with the very unpleasant owner. Furthermore, the waiter was spreading COVID to everyone by handling the dishes so tightly—superb hygiene.

I went with my child and my friends to eat at this restaurant. The manager at this restaurant did not want to serve me and my son with food. The others around my friends were served [Check the picture]. The manager said that there is a limit to how long you can eat. This is not fair. Shame on this location. I do not recommend this location. Shame

The worst restaurant and staff. Here is limited time 20 min then come colega whit children and dont take order for childern. Dont come here to eart!!!

Food (Salmon pasta was awesome) drinks (Heineken) were as good as local bars and similar price. I would definatley eat here again

AVOID AT ALL COST THIEVING TOREST TRAP. The staff were rude and pushy so they can up charge on items such as any soft drink you order will be 8 euros!!!!! Go anywhere else it's 3 euros max!!!! Atmosphere is dead, the staff are always watching you in a uninviting manner. The food is not good and clearly microwaved I ordered a salad and yet the greens were not fresh at all. We saw this as just a sit down place to eat and rest our legs from walking thinking it couldn't be that bad, we were wrong. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!! Check other reviews if you think this is a 1 off bad experience it's not.

The funghi pizza was completely flavorless.

Extremely long wait, the Gipsy Kings album on Wish played on repeat twice. Truffle pasta without truffle, bacon burger without bacon, and no fries. The waiter was overwhelmed but very, very kind, unlike the haughty and unpleasant owner. Avoid at all costs!

The pizza was served at the same time as the soup, so the pizza was already almost cold before I started on it and was only half-baked. I won't be coming back.

I had a very unpleasant experience here. We were a small group with a bill of €37 and asked to split the payment between two cards, but the staff refused. At first, we were told they only accepted cash, which was already frustrating since we didn’t have any. Then, we were asked to pay half in cash, half by card — a strange and inconvenient request. When we explained that we only had cards, the staff became visibly annoyed and quite rude. There was no attempt to explain the policy politely or accommodate us in any way. Once we finally managed to pay, the server walked off without a single “thank you” or even a basic apology for the inconvenience or attitude. The whole interaction left a really bad impression. I would not return or recommend this place based on the way we were treated. Don't recommend

Worst place ever. We just wanted to have a quick dinner befor heading into the city again. The service was really bad, it took them 45 mins until ONE pizza was ready. And it was an avagerage/ok pizza. Not the worst, but definitely not the best either. And after we ate the server wanted to take my not-quiet-finished beer away. Can't recommend it, will never go there again.

Service was neutral to unfriendly. Glasses were snatched from the table as you walked by, even if your beer wasn't yet finished. It took almost 45 minutes from the time I ordered (food) to the time I got one(!) pizza served. The pizza definitely wasn't particularly tasty. There was simply no flavor. Neither salt nor oregano. Even the tomato sauce was so bland that you only noticed it in the consistency of the pizza. I definitely don't recommend this "pizzeria"!

I've never eaten at such a bad restaurant. The pizza was limp and way too soggy. The cutlery was dirty, and the staff was arrogant.

Avoid! Expensive and awful food.

This place is incredibly bad. The service is terrible and arrogant. The manager is also arrogant. The food is way overpriced, and my cutlery wasn't even clean. A drink costs €8.50, and it's not even listed on the menu. Don't go here!
