Unfortunately I didn’t had the chance to order a coffee at the most beautiful cafe at the square, I suddenly got. However I had the chance to have a chat with the owner for a few minutes and got a glass water/coffee. With a quick glance into shop was my review score done in a second 5/5! Definitely recommend to come and hope get here soon to get another coffee!

New: Given that I had asked how to order food, I reached out verbally and through voice multiple times. They ignored me. Luck should have nothing to do with good service. If you tell someone the menu is on the table and you order from the table, and then never do anything back, that is not luck. If you were going to apologize, you would apologize, not gaslight. I went in for a hot drink and a hot snack. After I got the hot drink, I was ignored. Only four tables were occupied, no one came to me or responded when I tried to get my attention for over an hour. A couple came in after me and were served immediately, with drinks and food. Absolutely despicable.

The place is really beautiful, super bright and decorated in a really nice way! The owners are really friendly and hospitable, ready in every way for every need of the customer, I have met very few like them. You can really feel that they love what they do! Their products are really good, made on the spot by them, absolutely something to try! It is a very versatile place: you can come with your computer to work, stay for your thoughts drinking something, or spend some nice moments of celebration with friends! I really recommend it to everyone, you will not regret it ❤️

Podieum Grand Café in Amsterdam Slotervaart is highly recommended! The location is great, with a lovely terrace where you can enjoy the sun all day long. The changing range of beers ensures that there is always something new to taste, perfect for a relaxing drink. During the day this is also a great place to work. The quiet, homely atmosphere makes it ideal for being productive with a good lunch. The hospitality of Djamal and Sabela completes the picture - they create a warm and cozy ambiance in which you immediately feel at home. I think it is a nice place where you can both enjoy and work. Whether you come for a beer, a place to work or just a nice place to relax, Podieum Grand Café is a real hidden gem in Slotervaart!

Extremely unwelcoming attitude and very rude people. Response: Let’s establish a timeline of events. I chose this café to meet my friend because it had a play area for kids. My friend, my 2.5-year-old daughter, and I sat there for about two hours. During this time, my daughter played quietly with the toys. However, towards the end, she became restless and started crying—a very common behavior for a toddler. Any parent would understand this. As soon as I realized she was getting upset, I immediately decided to leave to avoid disturbing other customers. I went to the counter and paid right away. Meanwhile, my daughter, still crying, resisted getting dressed (putting on her jacket, cap, and gloves)—again, a typical toddler reaction. Instead of ensuring the payment had gone through, the café owner immediately told me to put the toys back. I explained that my daughter was very upset and unlikely to cooperate, but instead of showing understanding, she insisted, saying it was an "opportunity to teach my child." This statement not only ignored the reality of dealing with a distressed toddler but also reflected her judgmental attitude toward other parents. Any parent knows that when a toddler is having a meltdown, it is not the right time for a lesson—you have to pick your battles. In a normal situation, I would have absolutely put the toys back in their place. However, at that moment, my toddler had started crying and was even lying on the floor. I felt it was more important to get her out of the space rather than prolong the situation. I asked my friend to put the toys back while I focused on calming my daughter and getting her out as quickly as possible to prevent any accidental mishaps and distract her mind to comfort her. However, the café owner showed no empathy. While she may take great pride in maintaining the café, this came at the cost of compassion and a realistic understanding of child behavior. Creating a kids' corner in the café seems to be just a money-making strategy, rather than a genuine effort to accommodate families. If the café truly cared about children, they would have a better understanding of how kids behave, instead of setting unrealistic expectations. Her obsession with a handful of scattered toys distracted her from checking whether my payment had gone through. By the time we had left and walked a fair distance, she came running after us, saying the payment hadn’t been processed. Since the card machine didn’t work outside, I had to walk all the way back to the café while still struggling to calm my daughter. This situation could have been avoided if she had confirmed the payment at the right time. As for the so-called "mess," it was simply a few toys scattered within the play area—not toys all over the tables or food spilled on the floor. The claim that my daughter was excessively loud is also untrue; she played quietly for nearly the entire time, except for the last 10 minutes. In fact, her crying could have lasted only 1-2 minutes if the café owner had shown a little understanding. 2nd Response: Running a business and offering general pleasantries is one thing, but what defines a person is how they behave when things don’t go as planned. I frequently visit cafes, and like any other child, my daughter sometimes acts her age. Yet, not once has anyone suggested that I owe an apology. Your statement "customers were disturbed by a crying child" is very dramatic. Seems like you’re willing to go to any extent just to make yourself appear empathetic. I never suggested that you should have let the payment slide. Your claim that you didn’t check the payment because you were busy with other customers is untrue. You were just obsessed with toys and your priority is still evident in your response. To say that you did this to distract my daughter is absurd. As i said, I would have tidied up if my daughter hadn’t been so upset. I tried to take her outside because, distressed children may throw things, potentially causing breakage. I was just trying to avoid that. I am not going to respond anymore.

Podieum is highly recommended! The atmosphere is warm and relaxed, and you notice that a lot of attention is paid to the food. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. The coffee is very tasty and the staff is very hospitable and friendly. It is the kind of place where you can completely relax and linger with pleasure. I will definitely come back here more often.

We were received hospitably. For lunch (delicious pancakes for everyone), we were in for a treat. There was a musical performance by the guitar and singing duo Them Alone, very nice. Podieum is a Petit Grand café with (inter)cultural aspirations. Exactly what the neighborhood needs, so go experience it or perform on the Stage yourself!

The atmosphere is good, a terrace with nice weather and good food. Enough variety in drinks. Nice owners, good service. We chose the menu including lentil soup, grilled cheese sandwich with ketchup dip and drinks of your choice. Also had a goat cheese with spinach quiche.

N.a.v. owner's response, adjusted the review from 1 star to 2 stars. The review is certainly not intended as "bullying" of the entrepreneur. It is a translation of our experience as a customer. This is not to say that you are a bad business or cannot do it, but our experience with a simple order (2 drinks) was not good. The review has been adjusted because the part about attitude and being less friendly towards us may also have been a misinterpretation. The wait was indeed not too bad. The terrace was indeed full, and although one of the owners was also sitting on the terrace with another customer, it didn't take extremely long. You have an answer for everything, but that does not take away from our experience. I order a beer for 4 euros and get a meager draft glass for 0.2 (see also photo) while the customer the owner was just chatting with gets a vase. You say that a whistle is 0.25 for you, but I don't think I got that. By the way, the vase is not on the menu and a vase is included on my receipt. You indicate that this is an error, but for the customer this still seems strange. Maybe a whistle in the center doesn't cost 3 euros everywhere (but where I often go at the Spui it certainly does) but it certainly doesn't cost 4 euros everywhere in Slotevaart either) My girlfriend gets a glass with a layer of water and a mini piece of ice (then give nothing). Now you say that this was finished, but we cannot know that at that time. When another customer subsequently receives a full glass with only ice, it is noticed. The water is also not an issue because we didn't necessarily want that either, but if the experience is disappointing and the table next to you, we feel, gets a jug of water as soon as they sit down... Now you indicate that this was upon request So that's fine, no problem. I believe you would have given us water if we had asked. My first review was a bit too harsh indeed, but I don't think it is right to dismiss everything with an answer/excuse and then say that this is because we had a bad day, are negative or want to bully you. Perhaps you also had a bad day or bad luck according to us. The experience was just not good, part of it is due to miscommunication (although I still find that small beer and the incorrect receipt bizarrely expensive and strange). Perhaps you could have reported things like the ice cream and we could have reported the complaint about the small beer. I cannot give our experience more than 2 stars (according to Google: I Disliked it). Once again, this has nothing to do with "bullying" and your food is probably very good. But our experience was bad and I think you are too expensive for a simple drink.

Wonderful place in Amsterdam Nieuw-West! I celebrated my birthday party there and the owners did everything they could to make it a great evening. Delicious snacks, excellent service, no question was too much and there is also a cute stage for musicians or a speech. Absolutely recommended, for a good party, but also for a quiet cup of coffee and your newspaper in a (still hidden) beautiful part of Amsterdam!

This place is adorable and cozy, definitely worth a visit! I loved their hummus and avocado sandwich, and the white chocolate pancake was a treat! The coffee was spot on, the service was great, and the atmosphere was just lovely. I highly recommend it!

Haven't eaten anything yet, just had coffee. It was good coffee but I thought it was a bit on the expensive side given the location. Atmosphere is very nice and a nice clean place with friendly people. Croissant was, for example, 4 euros and I found it very spicy. Purchasing costs 0.35 cents. 😣

What a nice place this is! You feel the hospitality as soon as you enter. There was a whole group of us and we had our snacks and drinks in no time. The coffee was delicious and special requests were no problem. The quiches were delicious, and toasted sandwiches etc. were also very popular. There was nice music in the background. The interior is also top notch, attractive. Prices are certainly very reasonable. The only pity is that it is not next door for us, otherwise we would become regulars here... We will definitely come back!
