This is my second visit to Portugal Mar; the food is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the service is nice. I recommend making a reservation.

They are not attentive when the customer enters, completely ignored, and expensive. It's not very welcoming.

The service was terrible, as was the price, and the atmosphere wasn't pleasant. The meat was good, but it came with leftover frozen french fries, and you could tell it was the bottom of the bag because they were all broken. I hadn't been there for two years and I definitely won't be returning.

What a wonderful evening we had, with delicious food and a great atmosphere.

From the service to the dessert, which I must say is perfect, this establishment makes you relax while you eat some of the best food Portugal has to offer. I recommend it 100%.

The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is quite homey – shouting, laughter, and broken plates. The selection is a bit limited for Portuguese food, but I still recommend it.

Super cute little restaurant!!! Great atmosphere. Delicious food. It takes a bit long, but that's okay because the atmosphere is great. We didn't have time for dessert, though. Definitely recommended!

UPDATE: 1 year later we decided to come back. And the service is so much better! Simple, humble kind people + good food. Can’t ask for a better match. Food is great, the owners are super friendly and the vibes are good. But the service is terrible. We waited over 1 hour and half for the food, the waitress forgot about our drinks. We had finished eating by the time she brought them.

If you've ever been to Portugal, it's a must. And a fantastic Cata Plana.

Ordered cheffe special. Have to say, cheffe special dish serves lots of meat. Appreciate the generosity from the cheffe and owner. The chicken fillet taste oke. Not dry. Tastes like chicken meat from le poussin. Skin was thin and crunchy. Chicken was very very salty. Sausage was very very salty. Rib (lamb?) was very very salty. Rib steak was the only one okeish salty. In general, they did serve quality meat. But seasoning is not for me. I do see other reviews like their seasoning tho. Salade was great. Their sauce was tasty but again too salty. Fries was the only one not salty but possibly my taugn was already saturated. With the price 27 euro pp. I do expect at least serve a portion of bread. Bit it was not the case. It took 1.5 hr to get food served. Be patience and enjoy the atmosphere... We ordered a beer, but it was forgetten to serve. So be sure you pay for what you are served. I do appreciate the plates and bowls they are using. It does bring the right vibe from Portugal.

It’s worth going to try good Portuguese food! The cook is very nice and served us (a group for 8 people) very well. We were not in a rush and everything was very nicely done. I recommend going with time so you can enjoy a stress free good meal.

The staff was super friendly and attentive! We ordered some steaks to satisfy our memories of Portugal, and they were delicious. The meat was super tender, and the rice reminded me of my grandmother's rice :) And to top it off, we had a delicious biscuit cake, Delta coffee, and a great chat with the owner/cook! Thank you

Very good!! It was like teleportation in one bite. I really liked the food, The girls were wonderful, the place was super cozy, and the prices were affordable. I didn't like the fact that I paid 18 euros for a "platter of sausages" and got tapas made with Dutch meat slices, packaged chouriço and raw chouriço. Not even a morcela, alheira or even a farinheira. Not to mention the francesinha was horrible, the meat tasted rotten and the bread literally looked like a dish sponge. Very shameful for what I paid for quality 0 Francesinha frozen for who knows how long! And they say it's made on the spot

I didn't like it, as a Portuguese person. The bread in Francesinhas was like rubber, the meat tasted musty. The steak à Portugal was tiny, without eggs or rice. I will definitely not be back.

Perfect operation. Not designed for large groups. We didn't eat at the same time and had to wait 1 hour. Some dishes, especially the shrimp, were not defrosted enough. The meat all had the same taste. Could be a bit more varied and sambal on the table for enthusiasts. Not everything on the menu was on shelves. Cosy, cozy, but for 2 or 4 people.

Portugal Mar: small but nice. Yes, that saying completely applies to this small restaurant in the Brabant city of Helmond. The location is fairly hidden in a small alley/passage in the center. The restaurant is small (about 10-12 tables) and is run by a very friendly Portuguese lady. She works in the kitchen herself, receives guests and also serves. The menu is typically Portuguese: small and simple. What she conjures up on the table tastes delicious. The choice of gambas piri-piri did not disappoint. The presentation was excellent and even the water with lemon to clean your fingers was present. For dessert, of course, the homemade Pastel de nata. Which was then followed by a piece of homemade chocolate-caramel cake. Great! The espresso was also very good. Highly recommended for your next visit!

Ordered a chef's menu (27 euros per person), but what was on the menu did not look like it. Would steak, burgers be in this menu but unfortunately not. Menu was 70% chicken the rest spare ribs. After reporting, they shrugged their shoulders, "steak and hamburgers were gone" so we added extra spare ribs. Not worth repeating, chicken all had the same taste. Quality/price ratio not in proportion. Very friendly service.

Dear People and there is a Portuguese atmosphere. Very nice and special that many Portuguese people come to eat. Because a lot of Portuguese is spoken around you, it feels like you are in Portugal.

Great service, very friendly, amazing food definitely Portuguese quality definitely going back.Small place but can easily take up to 70 people. If your going to go eat dourada (fish) call before to make sure they have it since it is hard to find around here.

Waitress Anabela served us very well. I liked the service and we laughed a lot. The food is very good! I recommend special steak.

My first word is... Wowwww Let me tell you, the food was amazing and I really want to go back there. Only thing who need a little change will be the website for the reservation. I wanted to go there for valentine day. I make a reservation but the site don't respond to tell that it was full. So we arrived there and unfortunately we couldn't have a dinner that evening. The owner and personal are really friendly and I'm looking forward to go back there. Thank you 😊

We komen hier graag. Het is alsof je eet in een restaurant in een pretentieloze wijk van een gewone Portugese stad. Het opgediende menu is razendgoed. Er zijn Portugese slakken (mini-escargots) als voorgerecht. De caldeirada (vispan) voor twee personen is heerlijk. Er wordt compromisloos gekookt: vis met de graten erin, zoals het hoort. Geen candlelight dinner, maar een aanrader voor wie houdt van een eerlijke keuken.

Heel lekker eten en service, maar skip het Portugese beer.

Het was een heerlijke maaltijd en prima service. Maar echt beoordelen op gezelligheid was lastig omdat we de enige gasten waren. Ivm met werkzaamheden waren ze beperkt open. Maar zonder meer heerlijk gegeten.

Sardines gegeten, veel te zout. De frietjes erbij hadden een gemiddelde lengte van 2 cm, niet echt lekker. De salade erbij fantasieloos. Jammer, ik had me echt verheugd op een lekker Portugees gerecht. maar ben Illusie armer.

Ik kan makkelijk zeggen dat het is de beste in Noord Brabant.

Eten was goed en authentiek. restaurant ziet er ‘budget’ uit, niet echt Portugees en met plastic zeil op de tafels. Niet alles wat op de kaart staat ons was op voorraad. Aan de ‘stamtafel’ zaten mannen bier te hijsen en hardop te discussiëren.

Hier het diner genuttigd. Mix gril voor 2 personen. Was goed maar niet een culinair hoog standje. Tafeltje gedekt met een laag plastic, jammer Goed voor een niet al ter dure hap kan je daar prima terecht.

Het eten was lekker maar moesten wel enige tijd wachten op ons eten en drinken. Het was wel erg druk op zaterdagavond

I was just there. It is a piece of Portugal in the center of Helmond. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was very different for a restaurant in the Netherlands. I enjoyed it. Ik ben er net geweest. Het is een klein stukje Portugal in het centrum van Helmond. Het eten was heel erg lekker. Binnen voelde ik me helemaal anders dan bij een gewon Nederlands restaurant. Ik vond het leuk.

Voortreffelijke Portugees gegeten

Net personeel. Enigszins krappe zitplaatsen waar wij zaten (serveerster zelf zat meerdere keren klem en stootte dingen om omdat tafels té dicht op elkaar stonden). De porties zijn ruim! We hielden met 4 volwassenen en n kind nog over voor n vijfde persoon. De sausjes waren lekker. Het vlees was echter niet geweldig: wat saai klaargemaakt, weinig kruiding, sommige stukken kip waren erg droog, de biefstuk was niet eens gepeperd of gezouten. Andere stukken vlees waren wel weer beter (we hadden een gemixte vleesplank). Portugees is denk ik niet mijn keuken.

Lekker gerechten! Zowel vis als vlees gerechten zijn vers gemaakt. Vriendelijke eigenaresse/chef-kok. Huiskamer sfeer.

Comi uma bela feijoada com autêntico sabor português. Preciso de voltar para experimentar outros pratos!

Leuk Portugese restaurant in Helmond het restaurant wordt beheerd door een Portugese familie die dit restaurant al jaren hebben en met volle overgave doen ik heb hier heerlijk gegeten op de kaart diverse vlees en vis gerechten en voorgerecht en toetjes maar mijn avond was perfect met een Portugese bonensoep brood met diverse smeersels pasteitjes met kabeljauw en als hoofdgerecht een vis compleet met frietjes en salade en nog een heerlijk toetje de wijn was super van smaak een eerlijke prijs voor lekker Portugese eten

Lekker eten, ruim voldoende, relaxte sfeer. Een mooie goed gevulde tapasplank en frites met gebakken ham en ei (Portugese specialiteit) erbij. Enige minpuntje: de gefrituurde gerechten- inktvisringen en pasteitjes - hadden een slappe buitenkant. Dat moet knapperig zijn.

This was the first time we ordered from Portugal Mar, and we had our food delivered to our home. It was awesome, it tasted both like a home-cooked meal and something authentic that we couldn't reproduce ourselves, flavorwise. We will definitely order other items as well, to see if they were as good :-) Small piece of feedback: part of the menu said the dish came with thinly sliced fries, but it was more of a potato gratin type of situation than fries, in our opinion. Totally delicious, but if someone were to order it for the thinly sliced fries it might be a disappointment. Would definitely recommend ordering from here :-)

We hebben hier voor de tweede keer een social deal geprobeerd. De eerste keer was matig, vandaag de tweede keer stuitend slecht.

Gevalletje erg jammer. Na het maken van een reservering en er enorm naar uitgekeken te hebben een keertje Portugees te eten, bleek het restaurant nog niet open. Reis voor niets. Keer erna wel open, kregen we klonterige soep en ook de rest van het eten was niet vers. Als klap op de vuurpijl zagen we pas bij thuiskomst dat de rekening voor de drankjes wel erg hoog was; deze bleken dubbel berekend te zijn. Het verschil zouden we (na stroeve communicatie) op kunnen komen halen. Terugstorten deden ze niet. Aangezien we beiden uit een verschillende regio komen en (dus) maar zelden in Helmond zijn, besloten we het maar te laten gaan. Erg jammer deze (non)service...

De moeder (ook meteen de kok) weet heel goed waar ze over praat! Glutenvrij weet ze maar al te goed en als ze weet dat we komen maakt ze zelfs een passend glutenvrij toetje voor mij...Geweldige mensen die er werken,het is er altijd gezellig en lekker,we komen vaak via Social Deal (nou ja vaak 2x nu geweest en gaan zeker nog terug zonder social deal ook) want via social deal hebben ze wel de meest lekkere verrassings menu wat er is...Vooraf soep of brood (ik de soep altijd weer heerlijk) en dan een hele grote schaal met ik denk zo'n 20 versch kleine gerechtjes erop.Fingerfood! Voor mij maakt ze glutenvrije dingen en manlief heeft dan de échte gefrituurde Portogese hapjes...En ik heerlijke garnalen en kip en echt teveel om op te noemen...We gaan er zéker snel weer heen mits rug me niet in de steek weer laat...Het is maar een klein restaurantje,maar het is echt een familie restaurant (ouders met kinderen werken er) en gewoon gezellig kletsen met ze en heerlijk die Portugese sfeer,alsof ik weer in Kaapverdië op vakantie ben!!! Obrigado!!!
