What a gem! Beautiful food and service!

Very mid experience. Not bad but not good. Bifana was quite dry and tasteless, far from expectation. Service was also quite rushy and loud between themselves. Portuguese themed restaurant but only music playing was reggae, I don't think that it matches.

Seafoods are amazing - rest is okay.

Food isn’t bad at all, but not great either. Most other tables seem to have ordered the chicken, so I imagine they’re great for that. The rest is average. Service on the other hand was subpar. Rushed to order, being brought the mains when we still had the starters on the table, but then we waited for 45 mins with our dirty plates and empty drinks before being asked if we wanted a dessert. They’re nice enough though, just not attentive.

We had a super delicious meal; we sat outside on the terrace. A tip from Flip: order a starter because the portions are substantial!

The staff were friendly and helpful They gave us a run down of the specials on the Menu. The food was absolutely delicious a day authentic 😋. I had an Octopus salad for dntree and the fish of the day. The portions are very generous.

Free sparkling water is really nice

The food was so good that we ended up ordering enough for 3 people between the 2 of us just so we try more. Best prawns I've had anywhere. Everything was very generous in its portion. Totally authentic. Busy but efficient service. Would come back here any day!

Excellent food, great service and atmosphere

Our experience at Portugalia Tasca was absolutely amazing; the food was incredibly delicious! The place is quite busy but spotlessly clean. I’d highly recommend making a reservation before you go. Despite the crowd, the service was amazingly fast and flawless. For the level of service and food quality provided, the prices are very reasonable.

Everything was amazing! Food was spot on. Service was attentive, polite and funny. We had a very nice evening. Plus they were the first restaurant in Amsterdam that didn't push for a review. So i am leaving this completely voluntarily. Honestly one of the best places in the city i have tried so far.

To be truly Portuguese, you have to have Douro wines, properly speaking! It is undoubtedly that spot in Amsterdam that connects with Portugal, but there will always be that "but" missing, for those who are true Portuguese!

In Amsterdam's tourist spot (Rembrandtplein), there is a particularly nice Portuguese restaurant with delicious dishes. We were seated there surrounded only by Portuguese people, but were wonderfully spoiled with delicious appetizers and excellent wine for a very reasonable price.

This place definitely worths going to, especially when you cannot fly to Portugal but miss the food. Soft and tasty octopus with potatoes, delicious pastel de nata. Quick service, good employees.

The food is wonderful typically portuguese with a lot of flavour, the reason not for the 5 stars is the service, please guys talk with your team because some of the staff don’t really care to work there and makes the service slow especially on Portugalia churrasco there is one of the girl staff that te reception was horrible we seated and she just asked ok what will you want without make a introduction how it worked and acting like we are doing a favour to be there

Great option for Portuguese cuisine in Amsterdam! I recommend a visit for the food and service. I can't comment on the interior as it was very crowded and I had to sit outside, but even so, it was great!

The food was wonderful and generously served! I highly recommend it! The codfish here in Brás, Amsterdam, was just as good as the one from my homeland. Congratulations.

I guess not the first review that the waiter here is racist. Came here as a local friend recommended. We walked in on a Monday late lunch around 2pm. It was pretty empty, only 2 tables were occupied. We asked to sit at the corner where it's a table set up for 4. The waiter said: no, you can only sit at small table for 2. We: but it's quite empty. The waiter responded - it can fill up quickly. Like, what? Whatever! We left due to the rudeness. Our friend (the local) called back later asking why the waiter did that to 2 Asian girls. The waiter responded - well if you were here with them, they can sit at bigger table. How ridiculous for people acting this way in 2026? Go somewhere else don't waste your money and time on disrespectable business.

Great food, great service, great place!

From the moment you're seated, extremely close to other guests as everyone gets packed like sardines, you get shuffled from waiter to waiter, one more indifferent than the next one. No good afternoon, no are you enjoying your meal, no "would you like something else?", I honestly had better service at McDonald's. The food took very long to arrive (I think it was easily 40min after receiving my drink), the taste was average and the ingredients didn't all seem fresh (the potatoes were particularly dark on the inside in some spots). I'm sure the business can survive on tourism alone, but I wouldn't return nor recommend it.

Terrible service. Only one waiter, extremely rude, it seemed like we were asking for a favor. Really rude. Don't come unless you want to be mistreated. We didn't even order the main course, we gave up, we just had the appetizers, I'm not going to pay to be mistreated. If you don't want to deal with the public, go do something else. The guy will even be happy if nobody else comes to the restaurant, because then he won't have to work. I suspect he treated us worse because we were Brazilian, because before I found out he wasn't so rude. Lamentable. A shame, because the appetizer was good.

Underwhelming food and horrible experience! We went on a Friday for lunch. It was completely empty. Should have been a sign The chorizo was ok but the broa (corn bread) was just old and hard. The beet salad was so so. The goat cheese had no flavour We only had those 2 plates and cut short our visit. The waiter greatest us in English and seems niced until we spoke Portuguese amongst ourselves. We have a Brazilian accent and this Portuguese waiter completely changed how he treated us. He turned rude and just plain aggressive. Putting an order was an ordeal, asking questions about the food went without a proper answer and just gave us faces and complaints Never thought I would see such a behavior from a staff on a restaurant in Holland

I definitely don't plan on ever returning to this place. The staff provided terrible service and attention. That's the main reason I won't be coming back. The second reason is that I was having dinner and, just a few meters away from the kitchen, there was a garbage container infested with rats. I find this extremely dangerous and unhygienic, especially since it's right next to the restaurant's kitchen, where the door is usually open.

Decent Portuguese place in a commercial part of town. Staff seem all Portuguese and the food tastes authentic. Good place for a quick dinner before going out.

We came here for lunch during our last day in Amsterdam. The food was very flavourful and delicious also they have good size portions. The guys serving are very friendly and kind always available. If you like spicy try their chicken piri piri on the other hand if you prefer fish try their sardines. Overall everything we have tried was very good and hope to come here soon .

Great seafood, grilled octopus is super tender!

The taste was impeccable, though it didn't quite suit my palate, like not so special that I’ll revisit. The ambiance was truly excellent, very relaxing, and the service was warm and welcoming. The meat and seafood were also very fresh, and I can tell the olive oil used is of high quality. The roasted chicken is a bit salty from my taste, bread with butter is nothing special.

The atmosphere, the taste, and the service were all superb! This was the most truly delicious and luxurious meal I've had since coming to the Netherlands! Thank you!

The food was great. The interior was very small and cramped.

We came 7 mins late. Part of it it’s indeed our fault, another couple minutes we were waiting in line at the restaurant to be seated. A waiter made a huge argument out of it. Completely unnecessary as there were lots of space and free tables. He reminded us at least 3 times that we are 7 mins late and they have 5 mins policy. I asked him if he means that we should go and find a place at another restaurant but he answered that he hope that we are aware that we are 7 mins late. My friend told him that we feel weird, awkward and unwelcome when this is the first sentence he said to us. No apologies whatsoever, still angry face and reminder that we are late. Later I took my jacket to hang it by the door. Waiter did not wait for me to come back, dropped menus at our table and vague info about the dish of the day. To be honest, this should be done while both of us would be at the table. Dishes were very average, noting special. Restaurant is not as cute and cosy as on the Google photos. It’s really crowded and people cannot walk between tables without touching and bumping on you. The good thing is that restaurant was very cheap.

The beef is well cooked but the sauce and seasoning were extremely salty

Service was terrible. We were invisible to waiters. However, they suggested to get tipped when bringing the check 😂. Some dishes were neither fresh nor homemade. Tables are very small and next to one another. It feels very tight and it is very loud and noisy. For the price they charge it should be much better. We shall certainly never go back again.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Portugalia Tasca. We began with complimentary handmade potato chips and fresh bread and butter. For an appetizer, I loved the caldo verde with chorizo. My spouse loved her grilled dourado fish entree that came with salad and boiled potatoes. She had ordered fresh handcut French fries, but they brought the boiled ones by mistake. They let us keep them and brought over a fresh order of fries for us to savor. I had the delicious rice with shrimps, clams and mussels. The dishes were large; the food was excellent; the atmosphere was nice; the service was fine and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend dining here when visiting Amsterdam.

I went twice because it was delicious. The octopus was tender, plentiful, and tasty, and the chicken was good too. The fried anchovies and fried squid were good, but too salty. I regret not asking them to put less salt.

The food was absolutely fabulous!!! It was the best meal that our group had on our 20 day trip through Hungary, Austria, Germany and The Netherlands. The shrimp and chicken dishes were delicious. The bread appetizer is amazing. This restaurant was recommended to us by an employee of our hotel. He said that it was the best restaurant in the area and that was our experience as well.

I've been coming here for several years now and it never disappoints. The food is great and the staff is impeccable. It's one of those places that truly makes a Portuguese person feel at home, whether it's the food or the atmosphere!

True southern European hospitality. Food was absolutely delicious. The starters menu would be enough to eat delicious stuff for days... Drinks: Fantastic Vinho Verde from the tap for a very reasonable price (6 Euro per glass or so)

Five stars for the hospitality alone! Even though our party size tripled unexpectedly throughout the evening, the team was so gracious and flexible. Beyond the great service, the food was delicious and the vibe was very enjoyable. A must-visit!

As a Portuguese person, this was honestly one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! We ordered bolinhos de bacalhau as a starter, and for the main course we had the chicken piri-piri and bacalhau à Gomes de Sá. Everything was so delicious, and I truly felt at home there. The host was also very kind. Definitely recommend!

A wonderful experience at Portugalia Tasca: you really feel like you're in Portugal! The food is excellent and the staff are particularly friendly. The prices are a bit high, but justified considering the enjoyable time spent with friends.

The cod fritters were tasty, the gizzard sauce was a little runny. The chicken churrasco was good, but you could tell it was cooked in an electric oven and not over charcoal. The potatoes and snagria were good, as was the cream cake.

Have been numerous amount of times and the food is always good, it’s affordable, feels like you not in Amsterdam. Just some dishes were a miss for us but on the majority it’s really good. Highly recommend for authentic Portuguese food and vibes.

I rarely leave negative reviews, especially for a place where I genuinely enjoy the food—but my experience today was disappointing enough to speak up. I made a reservation for 4:45 PM and was unexpectedly asked to leave exactly two hours later because the table was “booked for someone else.” This came as a surprise, since at no point during the reservation process was I informed of a strict two-hour limit. When I asked the waiter where this policy was communicated, I was told it’s “common restaurant policy”—yet after checking again myself, there is absolutely no mention of this anywhere. Being rushed out like that felt abrupt and inconsiderate, especially in the middle of what was otherwise an enjoyable meal. What made it worse was the complete lack of acknowledgment or apology. No effort was made to smooth the situation over—not even a small gesture to compensate for the inconvenience. It’s unfortunate, because the food truly is very good. But the way this situation was handled left a sour aftertaste that overshadowed the entire experience.

Excellent food, an explosion of flavors. The draft Vinho Verde paired perfectly, and the service was top-notch! I will definitely return many more times.

For anyone in the Netherlands who wants to try Portuguese food, this is the restaurant to visit. The staff and the cook are Portuguese, so you can experience a little bit of Portugal in the Netherlands. For non-residents of the Netherlands, don't expect to eat large quantities of food for €10 like in Portugal. But you will have authentic Portuguese dishes on the table.

The flavors of Portugal take us straight back to our childhood. The setting is charming and the servers are lovely, smiling, and attentive. A place I highly recommend!
