A little bit of Portugal in the heart of Amsterdam - food is delicious and if we close the eyes, it seems like we’re back home in Lisbon. It has a great menu with some of the main characters of the Portuguese cuisine.

I didn’t even take any pictures of our food, it was soooo good! We tried ham with bread, pork belly and shrimp as a starter and chicken piri piri and octopus as a main. Everything was just so tasty, was worth every euro, really. It doesn’t often happen in the Netherlands. The service was also great, would definitely come back, still so many dishes to try. My compliments to the team 🫶

Green port wine was really tasty. Also foods are really amazing! I walked pass by this area a lot but didn’t know that there is really good restautant like here! Absolutely gonna visit again!

I didn't like it! The food came cold, I sent it back and the potatoes came even colder and the cod was a reasonable temperature

I love the vibe and service but food is getting more and more salty each time. The grilled octopus tasted soggy. I guess it has been frozen for too long before they cooked it.

We ate two soups and they weren't bad, but we happened to come across a moment when the staff was having dinner and so we had little attention and service; furthermore they played their very annoying and very loud music which really ruined the atmosphere. Sin! The quail I ordered was raw and the meat very tough!!

This restaurant is truly flawless. Welcomed with open arms despite stroller, came without reservation. Sublime decor, wonderful cuisine, we had the impression of being in Portugal as the smells coming from the kitchen took us on a journey and the atmosphere was there. Cozy restaurant that feels like you are eating at someone's home, and the staff helps you that way. Combined with delicious, authentic Portuguese dishes, this has become one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam after two visits.

Portuguese restaurant, great food, excellent wine, desserts to die for. Try the codfish à lagareiro, the Portuguese style steak, caldo verde, ask for some slices of chorizo, house white green wine, farófias with pomegranate and to finish the bica with a smell, of course like water but it seems to burn in the canal when drop it down. Menu recommended for women and men with thick beards. When you finish your meal, don't get up running, you might fall to the side, enjoy the views and don't cry when you pay. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFE, APPRECIATE IT AND ENJOY THE GOOD MOMENTS. Thanks.

Delicious food, good variety, nice staff.

Me and my friend stumbled on this lovely little spot for lunch. We started with the king prawns which were delightful and the croquettes were tasty! Followed by the peri peri chicken and pork neck with clams!

A very nice restaurant which has the merit of serving after 10 p.m. We had a very good bottle of wine and the chicken dish which was very generous. The staff were charming and indeed Portuguese.

Main courses are delicious especially octopus and beef fillet. However, the starters are very expensive given the amount and they taste mediocre.

First time visit last night and we loved it. Very fast and friendly service and the food was delicious! We had the chicken piri piri and the pork neck with clams. Beautiful wines too served by the glass. 4 glasses of wine, 1 starter to share, 2 mains and 1 desert to share was 92 euros. I can recommend this place without hesitation.

It's a Portuguese restaurant, and since Amsterdam produces a lot of seafood, the ingredients were very good and the taste was excellent. It was so delicious that I ate up all the sauce, and today's grilled fish was also so delicious.

I’m not Portuguese but I felt like it. I loved the food. The staff were great. They were very sweet and accommodating. The portions were large and for me that’s a good thing. The only thing I will say is I unexpectedly got a sandwich even though the menu didn’t say that what I ordered was a sandwich.

You can definitely come here for truly authentic Portuguese cuisine. Bacalhau was not really hot, a bit lukewarm in temperature and we thought it could have been a little saltier (but taste is personal). Furthermore, good atmosphere and nice place!

The food is great and while on the more expensive side, it's worth its price. The service however is not good. Unfriendly and inattentive. If you don't tip using pre-defined percentages at the end, you don't even get a goodbye.

Great, authentic Portuguese food

Extremely poorly treated by the staff when asking if a table was still available. I had to wait in the rain with my family or sit in a wet place. The staff was extremely unfriendly to us. There are plenty of restaurants in the area that have much friendlier staff. Definitely not recommended…

Very good experience. For a moment I thought I was in Portugal. The various dishes that I ordered were very good 😜🫶, what changes depends on the quantity, a little far from Portugal. But nothing to say about the really great service and the little care 👍. I recommend 😃🫶

As a Portuguese, I feel offended by both the quality and quantity of the food. I can’t remember a restaurant where I’ve been served so poorly. The staff is friendly, but everything else does not represent Portugal. I ordered the “pica pau” that is shown in the photo and was shocked by the portion size. I removed the French fries they served as a side to see the real portion of the so-called “pica pau,” and what’s left is visible in the picture. This starter, which isn’t even enough for one person, cost around €16. The last photo was taken from another review as an example of the full starter with the French fries hiding the “pica pau.” I went there with some friends who wanted Portuguese food, and I ended up leaving the place feeling embarrassed.

The food was great and makes me think back of holidays in portugal. Waiters are Portuguese so that is always good sign!

This is the best squid I've ever eaten! I tried to eat cod; But this fish, which I am not used to, seemed very hard. I didn't like the taste. Burger style menus are available. I mean, I know they taste great, but it is better to choose them according to taste.

A real Portuguese restaurant. Very welcoming, the staff is warm and friendly, we are immediately at ease. The portions are generous but above all very appetizing...you'd think you were there! In addition, the restaurant is in a quiet little street, even if in the center.

One of the best places in Amsterdam to eat Portuguese food. The rice is very good. On the second day I tried a Bifana, which is a sandwich with very delicious laminated pork. It is in the heart of the city and opens all day. Typical place to go as a plan B since it never disappoints.

We came here after visiting another restaurant, so unfortunately, we couldn't fully appreciate the cuisine. But the signature chicken is simply divine. We also had an appetizer - bread with sardine pâté, garlic butter, olives, and beans. The olives and beans were excellent. The port and tonic cocktail, as well as the green wine, were also great. The service was outstanding.

Excellent restaurant with a good atmosphere. The dishes were great and the quantity was there! The servers are very friendly and accommodating (error in dishes which were changed quickly). I highly recommend this place for very, very good eating in Amsterdam!!

Simply fantastic! We arrived at this place by pure chance, just before closing time, but Despite this, they welcomed us with kindness and courtesy, allowing us to dine in peace and serenity. Saverio advised us very well, making us travel with flavors from Amsterdam to Lisbon in a few seconds. Super recommended! Very good, a valid opportunity compared to the junk food of Amsterdam. The food is mediocre 7 /10 good not superb. FAKE calamari how can you serve that? 3/10 Catch of the day was good fish.7/10 Service was nice made a couple off jokes interaction was fun! 8/10 Grilled veggies but overcooked 5/10 Some parts where without salt and other parts where with massive amounts of salt ?? Looks like 2 chef working on the same spot…

The dish was not clear to me, the meat, vegetables and seafood all together - as for me, do not go well together, the sauce is sour and in general the dish is bland. The sand in the seafood creaked on my teeth. I think the price is too high for the dish I ordered. The dessert is very small and looks more like a semi-finished product covered in syrup.

Service overall was decent but however our order did not arrive complete. Additionally when we requested some extra olive oil we encountered some mould and other little dirty things inside the uncleaned recipient.

Very tasty fish, so far the best that I had the chance to taste. We ordered dorado, it was delicious, served with potatoes and salad. Portions are large, so you can take one for two. Very friendly staff.

Overall, good service/service. First octopus salad I've eaten, with a spicy flavor, lots of pepper and you couldn't see the octopus. For Portuguese people looking for a typical Portuguese dish, don't expect much there. Preparation of dishes that are too gourmet for a typical dish. You are not satisfied, and the price is quite high.

Had a great meal at Portugalia. Beautiful honest food. You almost feel like you're on holiday. Service fine. The wine served was perfectly drinkable but not a high-flyer. It's another case of "four stars is not doing them enough, but 5 stars is too generous. 4.5 stars does more justice

July '24 Visited for the second time and again a success! Delicious food and great service! May '23 Tasty dishes: Sardine and Bolas de Alheira recommended!! The service is super service-oriented and friendly towards the guests, and also very collegial towards each other. Nice to see. Despite the touristic location, there is a mix of tourists and Amsterdam residents. Enough reasons to come more often.

We showed up without a reservation. They were polite and organized. We got seated with 15 - 20 minutes. The menus were in several languages and they have a diverse menus for anyone’s preferences. The starters and main courses were plentiful, beautifully plated and delicious. So was the wine. I highly recommend this restaurant. Our host and waiter were the same and was courteous and friendly.

Remember to make a reservation first. It’s a Portuguese meal, and green wine is Portugal’s sweet wine. You can give it a try!

If you miss Portugal like me, Portugal is my home and this place make me feel at home ❤️ food was amazing, just don't expect quality like Portugal, because change the taste, in here the food is not so tasty like in Portugal but this is everywhere.

Very nice centrally, located restaurant with plenty of Portuguese food choices. Everything that I have tried at the restaurant has been delicious. The only thing is that the service sometimes can be a bit on the lower end. Will definitely go back for the food.

The octopus is cooked perfectly - the meat remains tender and goes perfectly with vinho verde. Pastel de nata is served with cinnamon and ice cream. Great.

You need to be quick with your order because the waiter leaves very quickly..

We had the cod filet with rice and spinach, also the antricot with fries and potatoes and pickles. The pickles (had to ask for pickles on top and separately) and the mayonnaise for the fries are homemade and exceptional, the food is super tasty, healthy, and the cherry on top is the pastel for dessert. It's an overall gem (and they can just drop the coriander from any dish :) )

The restaurant is not too big, we sat down (it's always better to book, they always seem very full). The prices are perhaps a little high, but the food was delicious and it was worth it. Special mention for the roasted octopus with potatoes and pastel de nata, truly exceptional.

This was the 5th? 6th time having dinner here. We came for a Father’s Day dinner. I had the whole grilled fish, partner - the delectable steak and our boy - the pork. Besides the impeccable service, each dish was just so delicious. We started with clams and prawns, so good we were almost licking the plates clean. An absolutely gorgeous red wine from the Alentejo region just got better with each glass and the dessert of pastel de nata with icecream and chocolate mousse with a cheeky added brandy…. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 lordie, so good. We keep coming back cos they have never disappointed! Thank you Vasco and Fransisco for taking care of us!!

Great Portuguese restaurant next to Rembrandt square. Everything is just great here: food, service and atmosphere. And prices are very reasonable as well. I had Pica Pau Atum as an appetizer. The portion was quite big but also pretty light. The tuna was cooked to perfection. Not dry at all. My main was chicken Piri Piri. I saw many people ordering that as well. Seems to be their signature dish. Highly recommended! Great chicken, crunchy fries and a Piri Piri that gives you the right kick.

Based on the recommendations of others. We had a lovely evening meal here. We were there around 5:30 PM and without a reservation we could only sit outside at the table. Nevertheless, the main courses were all served with some salad and potatoes. The fish of the day and squid are highly recommended. Fresh and tasty, but not too salty. We also had a bottle of white wine that paired wonderfully with the food. For dessert thin apple slices with basil icing, very refreshing. Next to it some nata with a scoop of ice cream. A reservation is definitely recommended.

The food was good and the service was very friendly. The atmosphere was ok, but the tables at bit too close to each other for our taste.
