We ate here in July in Amersfoort. Our evening started off well immediately: after waiting for about 30 minutes, we finally got a drink. Then we asked for the menu, actually ordered right away… and then the real waiting began. After well over an hour, the food finally arrived at the table. You would think: “Well, that must have had plenty of time to get nice and warm and well prepared.” Unfortunately not. The food was cold and looked more like a hastily reheated microwave meal. Maybe the microwave had a long queue too? All in all, a disappointing experience. If you are in the mood for good food *and* not for an advanced patience course, I would skip this place. My advice: just go to a snack bar. That is many times better and you will probably be done faster there too. 😅

We have eaten here several times, however, last Saturday [August 15] was a very bad experience! Passing on the order took a very long time, followed by a really long wait for the food [this was not due to it being busy], and this also went wrong several times: orders went to the wrong tables, not just once but several times, and not only with the drinks but also with the food. We were not the only ones; orders were also placed incorrectly on either side of us [4 tables in a row]. The only upside was the social interaction this created among us. We experienced this as very negative. No Bregje for a while!!!!

They still exist: good and friendly service, beautiful presentation of dishes, and delicious food.

I ate there on Tuesday, August 2nd, and had the pulled chicken tacos and the chicken schnitzel with pepper sauce. During the night, I suddenly got a lot of stomach pain and ended up on the toilet. Not recommended.

I have never been to such a filthy restaurant as Bregje Amersfoort; the entire restaurant was one big dust mess and the chairs were a sight to behold. We sat next to the heater, which had been accumulating dirt for years—it was that filthy. The starter and dessert were fine, but the main course was a disaster. I had ordered a burger that, according to the menu, was supposed to be well-filled. When I received it, the bun was already drowned in the burger grease and had only a piece of unmelted cheddar cheese and a pathetic slice of lettuce on it, even though the menu stated that it would have bacon, tomato, fried onion, and pickle. The staff, on the other hand, were very friendly!

You don't need to eat here if you're hungry, because you'll be an hour down the line before you get your starter. Don't order the meat platter for an extra 2.50, because you shouldn't expect to actually get anything better. You think you're getting a 'cheap' three courses, hoping they'll come by once to ask for drinks... and if you do get drinks, you get tiny glasses for €4... (by comparison, the salt shaker is bigger than the glass of drink, which isn't even filled full...) service walks past you multiple times while the menus are already closed, as if you're sitting there just to catch your breath instead of wanting to order food... scandalous, and all this for almost 70 euros for two!!

The food wasn't tasty; the shrimp were rock hard and the salmon was much too broken. We ate at Bregje's somewhere before and that was much better... too bad.

I have never waited so long for food. Literally an hour per dish. The food then arrived cold as well. The salad was so small that I initially thought it was a stray garnish. The schnitzel was so hard you could easily turn it into a shoe sole. Then you order chicken satay… and you just don't get any satay sauce. That is like ordering fries without fries. And the vegetables? Carrot or zucchini, no idea. Everything tasted equally watery and lifeless. The dessert was also a disaster. The ice cream had completely melted, so basically we just got a bowl of sweet soup. If this is a restaurant, then the microwave at home is a Michelin-starred establishment.

It's sort of a disappointment. Food Quality was okay-ish. Quantity was really disappointing. Better look for an alternative if you ask me.

Last night—as compensation from Bregje Amersfoort following a previous incident—we were able to dine completely free of charge. We were warmly welcomed by both the owner and the rest of the staff. The food was very good and tasted exquisite. Thank you for—after all—a lovely evening, the delicious food, the warm welcome from all of you, and the free dinner.

Bregje is a restaurant where you can eat well at a reasonable price.

We had lunch here with the family on Easter Monday; it was truly terrible. The service was extremely slow (it took at least 20 to 30 minutes every time for someone to come to the table), and the upstairs area, in particular, is not a very cozy place to sit. However, the food was the low point; the menus were €25 p.p. for food of disappointing quality. The carpaccio sandwich tasted worse than the supermarket, and the croissant was incredibly dry (not to mention the chemical jam from a plastic bag). The icing on the cake was that half of our table received plain rolls without filling or the ordered croquette. When this was corrected, we received lukewarm croquettes on a plate on the table, so that had to be corrected as well. There is a huge amount of nice, innovative, and good hospitality in Amersfoort; Bregje is absolutely not one of them, and I would not spend your money here.

After a long wait, we were finally able to place our order for our Easter brunch. Despite there being three options, after another long wait we received our simple dishes, with half of our table companions getting an empty bread roll without a croquette or omelet. A half-finished dish, in other words. This was resolved by the wait staff by placing a plate of cold croquettes on the table. Not a disaster, but if the food had otherwise been of a good standard, this might have been acceptable; however, Bregje tries to cash in as much as possible using the cheapest possible products by serving truly bad food. Absolutely not recommended.

I was here on a busy Wednesday evening with my mother to take advantage of the three-course menu deal. It's great that the portions aren't too large, allowing you to try a variety of things without wasting anything and without going home with a brick in your stomach. The staff was friendly, the service was fast, and the food was delicious! The chicken satay was delicious, the kibbeling was tasty, and the waffle and crème brûlée were the highlight of the evening.

For lunch, we had a carpaccio sandwich and a carpaccio salad. The sandwiches were perfect, but the salad was comparable to a starter; I had to search for the lettuce. I would have preferred paying a bit more and having more lettuce. The service was friendly and helpful.

A boil-water advisory is currently in effect in Amersfoort. If you order tea, you expect the water to have boiled for three minutes. If, after ordering your sixth tea, you're told as a group that the water isn't boiling for three minutes, you'd be surprised. At the very least, inform your customers beforehand that, as a restaurant, you're making the unusual decision not to boil water for three minutes.

We had a table to the right of the entrance, near the door. Every time the door opened, it was very cold and drafty. The staff also frequently left the door open. They preferred to chat behind the bar than to serve the guests. Very slow service.

I've eaten here before and had a very poor chicken satay, but this time the steak and hamburger were perfect. Keep in mind that it's a franchise chain, so you won't find any distinctive flavors. But the price/quality ratio is good. The service was poor; the staff wanted to seat us upstairs where literally no one was sitting because they didn't have time to clean the table. We cleared the table ourselves and wiped it down with a cloth. Nice place to sit. Service was provided by young, very friendly staff. The salmon was okay, but the accompanying vegetables were a bit bland.

The food was very mediocre. I ordered steak and got two pitiful, small slices of leek for ham. The service was terrible. There's a guy working there who's very unfriendly and lies to us. Never go there again, Bregje Amersfoort. Worst place you could ever go to.

I celebrated my birthday here and had made a reservation two weeks in advance, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Seven of us were given a table right across from the entrance. The door was constantly left open because incoming guests, especially children, forgot to close it behind them. We had to keep getting up to close the door ourselves. Our food also got cold quickly due to the wind. If this had been the only available spot with a last-minute reservation, I could have understood. However, I had booked well in advance and, frankly, I felt it was inappropriate that we couldn't be moved. It's a shame, because it made a special occasion less enjoyable than I'd hoped.

Eating there on a Friday. The wait between courses was unbelievably long. The staff don't look at the customer while they're working, so they never know if you want another drink. And if you sit down with your hand up like a kindergartener, it still takes forever. We had carpaccio as an appetizer, and there was water on it...probably from the refrigerator. I had a kind of steak, which was good, but lukewarm, and the sweet potato pieces that came with it were ice cold and looked like bits of sponge...really disgusting! And then the dessert...it was pathetic!!!! According to the menu, it was supposed to be a sorbet with Spitzer and whipped cream. It was a cup of ice cream with hard lumps and no Sprite...The whipped cream didn't come from a syringe, but probably just spooned on top... All in all, eating here was a waste of money, a waste of time, and I definitely won't be back! We went to Bregje in Bussum, and everything there was much better and it was served as stated on the menu.

I found the food disappointing. My dinner companion's asparagus tasting dish looked rather sad and consisted of two green asparagus spears that had been sitting for ages. The prawn in my fish trio was on soggy toast. My vegan kebab was quite dried out, and the amount was barely enough to fill one of the two pita breads. The fries were fine, but my dinner companion's salmon steak was on the small side, and the small vegetable garnish consisted mainly of bell peppers. The cheese board for dessert was average. All in all, not recommended.

I was a little skeptical after reading more negative reviews this year, but the six of us had a wonderful meal here tonight. Great atmosphere and fast, friendly service. Good value. I'll be back soon.

We were seated one floor up, which gave us the cozy atmosphere downstairs, but also the peace and quiet of upstairs because there weren't many people there. We actually appreciated that. Definitely not worth 4 stars. Not recommended! I've visited Bregje in Amersfoort four times recently, simply asking for a cup of coffee or tea. Each time, I was refused with the excuse that there was "no room" – even though several tables were clearly empty. Even when I said I only needed 10 minutes, no exception was made. What I find most frustrating: when I returned 30 minutes later, those same tables were still empty. The staff's attitude is anything but hospitable or customer-focused. You don't feel welcome here, which is a shame for a place that presents itself as a "stylish restaurant." In reality, it feels like an overrated dining room with a lot of airs and graces and little warmth. No more Bregje for me.

Bad service. Disappointing experience. Food was brought without cutlery, when asked for it we got 2 forks, 2 knives and 1 napkin (weird, huh?). Fish was uncooked. But the most ridiculous was a green curry which is not a curry at all. It was rice with dry chicken pieces. We asked where is the sauce and then were given a small portion of coconut sauce (nothing to do with green curry) to add it to the dish ourselves. Also were told that a lot of people complained about curry. But why then you keep on doing this way? Desserts were below average. Went inside to pay and saw an employee hanging out with the open bottle of a bleach in the bar area, shaking it and who knows if there is a drop of a bleach in one of your drinks? This is ridiculous! Would not recommend this place. No hospitality mentality there.

I am not a hospitality tiger but I am someone who thinks logically. This is clearly a restaurant with potential. But one that lacks leadership. A simple table arrangement with a block with the table number on it is fixed in an afternoon. And the computer systems in restaurants are easy to set up for that. And if they cut back on that, you better stop. In the hour and a half that we were there, we brought something to our table 7 times that was not ours. We literally had to wait 25 minutes for our drink, after our first course was brought. So longer. You are in a restaurant for the whole package. And as they say, mustard after the meal, which was the wine. It was also said that there is only 1 person at the bar. Yes, that must be someone who knows how to get things done and also a good system, otherwise it doesn't work. The flavors were ok, but it was not such a nice experience. Even when we explained this when paying, because we were asked, "if we had enjoyed it"? Was there a kind of radio silence.. then we said and a cup of coffee had made it a bit better… radio silence again.. sorry then you really don't get it. Good luck with everything because we really want the best for restaurants and maybe it was a bad evening. But really we hope that something will be done logistically and maybe a training for the staff.

I won't say anything about the food, we were 15 people and everyone enjoyed themselves. Only if you want to drink something you better order it days in advance. The drink delivery is really worthless. For example, I ordered water for someone 5 times, that still has to be delivered while we have been gone for a few hours. First drinks ordered, took half an hour before some arrived at the table. Food is fine but really bring your own drinks if you want to drink something on time, takes ages.

We have been to this restaurant two nights in a row now – first in Bussum and then in Amersfoort – to see if the first time wasn’t a coincidence. It certainly wasn’t. It is a cozy restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food. The pullen chicken in particular is super tasty. (the fries are also really great, very simple but deliciously crispy) All in all it is just a good deal for this price. We will definitely come back here again.

Surprisingly delicious food on a Wednesday. Burrata salad and sushi trio as a starter. Street food platter and goat cheese salad as a main course. After a strawberry tart. Quiet upstairs, too busy downstairs due to MAX discount campaign. As a result, a long wait and I had the idea that the staff could not keep up with the crowds. They were attentive and informed us how long we had to wait.

We took a short break here and ordered the 6 mixed rolls/appetizers. You could choose from 16 cold and warm snacks. VERY tasty 😋 and the price was reasonable, too. Excellent service, very friendly. We'll stop here again next time we're in Amersfoort. THANK YOU

Mother's Day brunch. But it shouldn't have that name: very little for that price Unlimited drinks, but always a long wait, had to ask for it ourselves. The table was not cleared in between. Even though it wasn't full. After paying, there was no 'see you later'. In short, it was the first and last time. There are better restaurants on Eemplein.

Satay on the dry side. Sauce on the meat of the other dish was minimal. Is the food served as someone else at the table checks whether it all tastes good? Let's take a bite first, I would say. Bad acoustics. Chair with bars is not comfortable. This restaurant is an option for a quick bite. We won't be coming back here ourselves.

I had dinner at Bregje at Easter, but found the brunch very poor. Received soup that was lukewarm, came with a croquette sandwich, but you can't call this a croquette sandwich, it was a mini croquette on a very small bun, croissant was so small that you could eat it in one bite. You need to do this better, we heard several times from people that they thought so too.

Nice location at the Eemplein (parking underground) and with views over the canal. Prices are good (20 euro for a 3 course meal) but the food isn't anything special (nothing bad about it, it's just not special). Some combinations in the starters trios are a bit odd (like the sate mixed with two deep fried dishes). Overall an OK experience for the price. There were plenty of staff when we visited so the services was good. I think it will be a very nice place in summer to sit on the terrace at the canal.
