Perhaps the coziest spot in Utrecht, with a fantastic atmosphere. The fully vegetarian menu is also fantastic! The execution could be a bit better: the portions are quite small, and the flavors could be a bit stronger. But it has the potential to become one of the tastiest and most enjoyable coffee/lunch spots in Utrecht.

A charmingly decorated café with exceptional small dishes and super friendly service right in the heart of Utrecht. We went twice. Highly recommended, especially for vegetarians and foodies!

I come here very often and enjoy it; the food is always delicious and unique. Whatever you order, you can be sure it's delicious. For those who are a bit more adventurous with food, you won't find your average healthy sandwich or hamburger here. But! For those looking to broaden their palette, this is absolutely perfect.

The menu is a mystery. All ingredients you've never heard of. So just order and prepare to be surprised. Everything is fresh, creative, and healthy. Take-home service, so friendly and helpful.

This place gets a 10/10 for the atmosphere, super cute. The staff was nice too. I was a bit sad that I didnt get to eat anything with Rabarber in it haha… but the food we got was good. Minor points taken off for more potential flavor and that we got seated at the bar. But i would still recommend this place.

Unfortunately quite rude service ! I was told by one employee I could order to go and then when I went to order I was told I could not order to go because they were too busy! I was very excited to try the coffee and a pastry at this place, which would not be difficult to serve as a to-go order…but I will happily go somewhere else more welcoming!

Great service. We visited for dinner. Just three main dishes on the menu but an interesting place if you fancy trying some unusual vegetarian recipes. The starters looked good and could be selected to make a main ‘tapas’ meal

A second living room with simply the best flavors of Utrecht. Every menu has at least one dish I'll be coming back for every week. And that butter cake!

Roasted yellow beet toast and krombek bean salad were both fantastic. Tables were full when we walked in for lunch on a Saturday, but we were allowed to wait at the small bar area until a table opened up, which was only about 10 minutes.

This used to be one of my favourite places during my student years in Utrecht, so I was excited to come back last Friday to relive some memories. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the cheesecake we ordered. The cake tasted distinctly burned, even though it was not immediately visible at first sight. It seemed as if whipped cream had been added on top to disguise the burnt layer. Once we removed the "slagroom," we saw that the top was indeed burned. In addition, there was too much crust compared to the filling, which made the cake unbalanced. But the most unpleasant aspect was still the burnt taste. I want to believe it was just an unfortunate day for the baker, but it did leave me wondering: isn’t there any quality check before serving cakes? Surely someone must have noticed the burnt top, or the baker themselves. Covering it with cream did not solve the problem—it only made it feel misleading. Sadly, I have to say this was the worst cheesecake I’ve ever tried. On a positive note, the service was correct (though not particularly warm), and the atmosphere remained as charming as always.

On Sunday mornings, Rhubarb opens at 9:00 AM. Perfect for grabbing breakfast on time. Unfortunately, it wasn't. We arrived a bit early, at 8:59 AM, and the waitress told us to wait a minute. That's fine. We waited outside until she was done. We ordered coffee. When it was brought, we indicated we wanted breakfast, but no one asked. The waitress took our order. We heard her talking to the kitchen staff, saying the kitchen wasn't supposed to open until 9:30 or 10:00 AM. It took about five minutes before she came back out. There, she explained it would take longer because the kitchen still had to start up. When we asked how long that would take, she went to ask. Because that was also taking a long time, and all we heard was chatter and laughter coming from the kitchen, we paid for our coffee and left. The staff seemed to think that was a good decision. This way, they could start their own business in a relaxed manner. Maybe put on the website and menu that dinner is only available from 10:00? That would prevent any annoyance.

really cute coffee and brunch spot! we only tried the coffees - iced latte & an espresso tonic, which were both really nice! the staff was really sweet and welcoming, and the prices were average.

Friendly service, unique dishes, and a relaxed atmosphere. Everything is vegetarian or vegan, and the menu changes regularly. The elderflower lemonade is highly recommended :)

Delicious breakfast - your classics with a twist. Coffee and service was also amazing

First, the online menu was different from the actual menu, which was already slightly frustrating. Then, for €15, I got a dollop of hummus that tasted no better than the supermarket one, a small pile of chickpeas with some dill and oil, and a pita bread cut into quarters. It's absurd that something like this is served for such a high price, when seemingly little effort was put into it. The service was very friendly, by the way, but I take that for granted when dining out.

Very tasty, freshly prepared and originally prepared vegetarian food.

Overall, a good place with safe food options (healthy ingredients, vegetarian- and vegan-friendly). They have interesting pies and brunch choices. Their signature ingredient is, of course, rhubarb, and they know how to cook it. We liked everything we ordered, but I wouldn’t say anything was exceptional enough to give 5 stars. Cappuccino was good. They also have cocktails to make your brunch boozy, but I haven’t tried them. What I would improve is the atmosphere. It feels like it could use a bit of maintenance – my coffee plate was chipped, and the paint on some chairs was peeling. I would also improve the presentation of the cake stand; right now, it looks a bit messy in my opinion. But overall, I can recommend the place. especially if you’re looking for rhubarb. .

When we wanted to go for dinner, the restaurant was unfortunately full, but we were offered a seat at the bar, which we did. We hadn't made a reservation. We were able to move to a seat by the window when a seat became available. The food took a while to prepare, but the freshness of the food made up for it. The service staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed. It was easy to have a conversation in the restaurant because it wasn't too loud.

This was the most wonderful meal I've had in a very long time. Everything I tried (sourdough with marmite butter, oeufs mayonnaise, and roasted beet soup) was so thoughtfully put together and perfectly balanced. The service was friendly and the atmosphere is too. What a gem!

Very nice vegetarian restaurant without any posh frills. Adventurous food and a very human aproach of the friendly personel. Also lots a vegan options, lots of fresh ingredients. Highly reccomended for people that enjoy an alternative to posh restaurants without giving up the quality of food.

A lovingly decorated café with vintage charm – ideal for a relaxed breakfast or a leisurely lunch. The dishes are creative, fresh, and completely vegetarian, many of them vegan. The cakes and the excellent breakfast options are particularly recommended. The service is extremely friendly and cheerful. A true insider tip in the heart of Utrecht.

This place is a complete scam. Besides that it took them forever to take the order and bring any drinks, we waited 30 min for three appetisers which were wrong (counting all guests we were 9 people). Their “cheese plate” is three pieces of any cheese with marmelade and a bunch of seeds and terribly cut/ thin/ cold bread. The olives are the ones of the jar with a bunch of terribly cut chives on top. Pricy for the terrible service and quality.

A lovely Cafe in the centre of Utrecht. It's quite busy but I didn't have to wait long until I was seated. Delicious hot chocolate (with real chocolate!) and eggs for lunch. Love the vibe and the friendly staff.

(Very) small restaurant/café but really cool. We went there for lunch without any reservation and, although they were expecting a larger group and had to free half of the tables (which meant that we had to swap our table about halfway through our lunch), the waitress did her best to find another cosy spot for us. The food was very tasty. They had 3 savoury and 2 sweet vegan options. I tried the mushrooms toast and the pumpkin stew, both delicious, and my friend had the croque madame, which she also liked a lot (although I must say that the slices of bread seemed very large to me). Overall a good experience and recommendable lunch option.

Sat right away which was nice. Ordered quickly. Said they had no orange juice, understand the place is called Rhubarb in Dutch but still, breakfast with no orange juice? Ordered the mushroom toast, my girlfriend the aubergine croquet madame. Took and age for the food to come but a busy morning so fair enough. When the food finally arrived it was nice enough, maybe not worth the price but I'd made my peace with it. I then decided not to write a review as they had pretty much broken even. That was till I found a hair in my food! Try somewhere else, I certainly will be...

Delicious evening meal at Rabarber, short but nice fully vegetarian menu and fine wine. We had the oat risotto and the chickpea pancake, both delicious dishes. Beautiful flavors on the plate and a nice ambiance.

Unfortunately, the restaurant is a victim of its own success. When we went there (1:30 PM) almost more than half of the menu was sold out. This was also not communicated in advance. We ended up taking something we didn't immediately feel like doing. After waiting almost 40 minutes, we heard the table next to us order something that was normally no longer available. We spoke to someone about this, but we were no longer able to change our order. In the end we had a very tasty meal and we got our drinks on the house. Otherwise a nice place and nice map. Not very good acoustics, so it could sometimes get loud inside. I would recommend eating there during the week instead of the weekend.

I love coming here for breakfast or lunch. Delicious, nutritious dishes with surprising flavors. Good coffee too! A real gem in the city.

I went in for lunch and both staff were smiling and friendly. Since I wanted to order soup and salad on my own, I told him that just one would be enough, and he was right. I sat by the glass window facing the street and ate hot, delicious soup and well-baked baguette bread in the suddenly cold weather.

Quaint sweet cafe that serves vegan dishes. It’s been a while since I’ve wanted to come here and I’m pleased that it surpassed my expectations in how good the food is. The boekweitflensjes with prunes were original and combined with dukkah it created a nice balance in taste between sweet & salty. The frisse witte bones dip was even better. The geroosterde venkel (roasted fennel) was so well cooked and I couldn’t get enough of the way it was spiced. The complementing ingredients of salsa, seaweed and greek pita made it all come together ever so smoothly. Really enjoyed my meal and the staff are super friendly. Tot ziens.

The food was so yummy with interesting twists, like rosemary oil on top of yogurt and granola. The kombucha was made in house and delicious. We got hibiscus.

Cute place with lots of plants. They've got great coffee and food. We had cappuccinos (10/10) and for brunch: the polenta pancake with king oyster mushrooms and additional 2 eggs, and the chamomile infused cake. Both were delicious! If you're looking for a different kind of brunch than your typical eggs on toast AND some amazing coffee, it is totally worth a visit.

One of my favourite places to eat in Utrecht. The quality of the food is always excellent and the menu offers interesting choices, not just your standard lunch or breakfast options. The service can be slow, but if you have the time it's worth relaxing and waiting.

Over the past year I have been able to enjoy the delicious, diverse dishes through Rabarber's catering more than ten times. The dishes are beautifully finished, beautifully presented and delicious! Occasionally it was too salty, but after we reported this back, this has not happened again. In addition, I was served my own dish several times and Else and her team took my strict dietary requirements into account. These dishes were also delicious. My thanks are great! In short, I can definitely recommend Rabarber's catering and it is a great invitation for me to eat in their restaurant!

Nice cafe with a short but interesting menu! Most items were vegetarian or vegan. The baked tomato, feta and spring onion on bread with egg was very tasty. Good coffee and even better service. If you get a chance to sit outside, the street is lovely and perfect for chilling.

I used to give it six stars if I could. Nowadays you pay more than 10 euros for each sandwich and the tables are actually too small to sit at alone, let alone with two people: it feels like they are trying to get as much money out of you as possible. The food is fantastic.
