Quality is good ! But they put the prices up i. 2 months from 14.95 to 19.95 for a pork katsu ! Thats outrageous!

A great place to eat for a quick bite or takeaway. Wonderful sandwiches, fries, and homemade lemonade. Lovely staff.

A decent Chicken Katsu sandwich. However, there is still so much room for improvement to make it a truly premium sandwich. Because it isn't one. - The Chicken Katsu itself is nice and crispy, but otherwise lacks flavor. So if the sandwich has just a little too little sauce, what remains is a rather tasteless sandwich. - Additionally, given the price of the sandwich, they really should invest in tastier/better bread. This bread looks like a fairly simple slice from the supermarket, whereas a Brioche or similar would be more appropriate.

The famous Japanese sandwich is delicious even in Amsterdam. I chose the chicken one, and it was definitely worth it. Juicy chicken, fresh ingredients, and overall, an excellent meal. Highly recommended.

Eatery Ranchi is a bit hidden away at the end of the Albert Cuypstraat. The sandwiches in typical Japanese style are tasty, as are the chicken pieces resembling karage. It is a pity that, in my opinion, the service leaves something to be desired. The girl behind the counter radiated boredom and listlessness and—as is so often the case in Amsterdam these days—did not speak a single word of Dutch, or even make an attempt to do so. That last point, in particular, bothers me immensely. The food is served in unsightly metal containers, and it is a shame that no forks or chopsticks are offered, because perhaps someone finds it gross to eat with their hands. The owner of the place will undoubtedly turn out to be a nice guy, but it came across to me as if he was more concerned with being sociable with his friends and acquaintances coming in than with paying attention to the non-regular clientele. All in all: tasty food, but it still lacks service and decorum.

I was looking for a very specific Japanese egg sandwich, tamago Sando, I found it at Ranchi, it was absolutely delicious!

Great chicken sandwich + fermented tepache. Later edit: it's one of the few places in Amsterdam that do a proper cooked fried chicken. So many deliver undercooked chicken. But not Ranchi. That's why this place is always a good take out option

The chicken tonkatsu is 🤤. Portions are also great, and the crew is super friendly (my dude recognized me even after a whole year without showing up). Long live Ranchi!

A very disappointing sandwich for €17.00. A couple of white bread slices with cabbage and a hamburger that resembled processed meat in texture.

This small spot was started by two brothers during the pandemic and focuses on Japanese-style sandwiches (sandos). We tried their bestseller, the Chicken Katsu Sando. The portion was generous, with a thick, juicy chicken fillet on super soft, fluffy white bread, plus cabbage, bulldog sauce, and mayo. It definitely looks amazing and feels indulgent. The chicken was tender, but flavor-wise it was a bit on the mild side, I expected more flavors to really give it a kick. I would’ve liked it even more if the chicken katsu had a thicker panko coating and extra crunch. Maybe the other sandos are better, I might have to go back and try more next time!

Others recommended the waffle fries and now I'll hop on that hype train and do the same. It's a bit hard to find, but the taste is good and the presentation is even better. Very neatly packed and prepared.

If you want a delicious, fresh sandwich, this is the place to go. My favorite!

I tried the chicken katsu and it was super delicious and tasted very fresh. I also had their fries which I really liked—the spices made them extra special. Just keep in mind that the lace is a bit cozy so it’s better suited for small groups rather than big ones.

This is the second time my friends and I have been here. The sandwiches are amazing; the bread is super soft, the ingredients are fresh, and the homemade hibiscus iced tea is fantastic! Definitely recommended!

Possibly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, Chris behind the counter was so lovely to talk to. Also managed to make it back before I left for the airport and get another sandwich which was somehow better than the first. HIGHLY recommend to anyone after amazing sandwiches

The sandos were delicious! We ordered the beef and the chicken sandos, and found the chicken to be especially tasty and juicy. They also each came with a decent serving of lettuce. The optional add-on of sriracha sauce is recommended for extra taste. The loaded fries and waffle fries were both also huge in portion size, and the waffles fries were definitely the best we have had anywhere! They were perfectly fried and well balanced in terms of fluffiness and crispiness. The service was also warm, friendly and prompt!

No vegan options. Unsure how the previous reviews mentioned this, and the restaurant replied back without correcting them.

Ranchi is tucked away behind the stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market. It's quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots in the Pijp. The menu may not be extensive, but all the options are excellent! The staff are hardworking and friendly. During busy times, you might have to wait a bit, but... totally worth it ❤️

WOW! Best Katsu I’ve had. The best part about the sandwich the simplicity, they didn’t try to do too much. Would recommend to anybody looking for something quick and (relatively) light.

BEST WAFFLE FRIES EVER 🍟 We were headed somewhere else for lunch but were intrigued enough walking by to go here instead! The sandwiches we got were both yummy but we thought could use a little more kick. The waffles fries however were incredible — well-seasoned, so crispy, delicious dipping sauce. We also loved the house-made ginger lemonade. A bit pricey, but will definitely be back on our next trip!

The staff were lovely, especially the guy at the coffee machine. He gave me a glass of water before I’d even ordered because I had a cough. Our order was made quickly and the food was delicious. I loved the katsu Sando and the waffles fries with siracha were perfectly cooked. I def recommend this place.

I used to be a big fan of this place, sadly things have changed. It seems they’ve become too focused on delivery orders to have good service anymore. We came in person on Saturday to get our normal order of chicken chunks and waffle fries. The first issue with our order was that the chicken was clearly the leftover side pieces from the tonkatsu sandwiches and there was only one piece of whole chicken. Second, there was no sauce included with the chicken which we almost always received with every order we had in the past. Third, we had received the wrong fries order. I had not confirmed with the waiter but I said an order of fries. We wanted the waffle fries but got the loaded fries which we didn't want.

Personally a bit on the expensive side. The chicken cutlet itself was very tasty. Could have had a bit more sauce. I think it was not Japanese bread, or well Japanese flavor, but just white bread. In Japan this was much softer and you didn't have a bread crust. Friendly staff, helped quickly, served quickly.

Not only were the sandwiches excellent, the service was friendly and overall fantastic. We mentioned we were biking around and got recommendations on where to go sightseeing next. Can’t praise the friendliness and food enough.

Ranchi is awesome!! The food’s great (waffle fries are a must) and the drinks are what really stand out. They make their own teas, lemonades, and tapache—and you can taste the effort that goes into them. Staff is really friendly and attentive

Delicious! I haven't had a good Katso Sando since my favourite place in London closed, and this really hit the spot. Plenty of options, with vegetarian versions too (the second picture is fake chicken). Strongly reccommended.

We had the beef and the plant-based chicken. The breading was completely detached from the meet. The place is not really cozy or welcoming.

I've been wanting to try this chicken katsu for a long time. The sandwich was very tasty, but Jesus... what small portions. I'm really not a big eater, but I was still hungry after this. For 12.75 you actually get 6 strips of white bread with the katsu in between (approx. 5cm wide). For that price you expect to be more satisfied.

Great place for katsu sandos! Have been coming here for some years now! Found it by searching on Google for katsu sandwiches. Still great and they have a variety of sandwiches ranging from pork, to chicken, to egg salad.

The food is low budget quality, the fried food comes out of old oil. The smell and the taste is not good. Will not go there anymore, bad quality

First time I've tried a sandwich like this and sure won't be the last time ! The chicken one was really amazing! My wife had the tonkatsu which was really good too. The fermented pineapple drink was also from another planet. All in all an amazing lunch experience! If I wanted to complain about anything I'd say that I like my edamame beans warm but that's not really an issue to begin with. Service was fun and quick as well....

It’s ok for a tasty snack option. I found it a bit overpriced especially for the chicken. I think the chicken could have been more well done inside the breading. I will visit again to try the other options as well to be 100% objective :)

The best sandwiches in Amsterdam!!!!!

We placed the delivery order at this restaurant, we ordered a Chicken katsu and the XO beef along with some potatoes and pieces of chicken. Everything was quite rich, just right and juicy. The only thing we didn't eat much of was the chicken because it was quite spicy, so if you're not a fan of spicy food, don't order it.

Delicious tasty sandwich and the lemonade was good as well. I was lucky enough to get to sit inside. Great place to spot for a bite of lunch.

Freaking delicious! Had the chicken sandwich. Def eat with the homemade siracha. Apparently the owners came up with this sandwich and perfected it during Covid. They started to sell the sandwich out of their apt and it became so popular that they opened a store front post Covid.

Tonkatsu Sando was great and makes a nice on the go lunch. I will go back again for the Tonkatsu. Unfortunately the tamago sando was bland on my visit and not authentic flavor wise. Staff were lovely.

Super average sandwich. Really nothing special to it: -wet bread -tough/not cirpsy tonkasu -not tasty. Its a shame because a katsu sando could and should be really good. Wont be coming back. Also to expensive for the quality you get.

Cute place with friendly staff The chicken katsu sandwich is pretty good, crispy chicken, cabbage and a delicious sauce - maybe nice to get the sauce on the side so the bread doesn’t get soggy & you can dip more into the sauce :-) The egg salad sandwich is okay, could use a bit more seasoning in my opinion

Food was delicious and staff was very friendly. We had some leftovers and one of the staff kindly packed it for us with some sauce too. There is not a lot of place to sit though.

We tried the Tonkatsu Sando, and overall, it was really good! The pork was fried perfectly, and while it’s not quite the authentic Japanese sandwich, it’s clearly their own twist on it, and it still tasted great. The only downside was that the sauce made the bread a bit soggy, but it didn’t take away too much from the overall flavor. A solid experience, and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try if you’re open to something a little different.

Rarely have I had such a delicious and juicy sandwich: Sando Chicken Katsu is absolutely recommended. Fresh ingredients, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere and fair prices are what define the location. I'd love to come back to try the other sandwiches. :)
