Restaurant 2028 in Schaarsbergen

Enough is enough. When it was suggested that we eat in the hotel restaurant, I first tried to arrange something else. The service had already deteriorated over the past few years, and we found the price-quality ratio mediocre. Since there was nowhere else for twelve people to go, we decided to try again anyway. It turned into a disaster. The starter arrived reasonably quickly, and only one dish was forgotten. After that, it seemed as if the staff had collectively forgotten about us. Remarkable for a restaurant that was less than a quarter full on a Saturday night. In hindsight, the fact that we were able to get a table so easily with twelve people was perhaps already a bad sign. After waiting for over an hour, I had to ask our ever-so-soothing waitress myself where our main course was. Something had gone wrong in the kitchen, but: "within ten minutes." Twenty minutes later, we saw plates appear. Unfortunately for the table next to us, who had arrived much later. So we asked again. Once again, communication problems; once again: it is on its way. Up until that moment, no one from the wait staff had thought to inform us. After finally 90 minutes, the food arrived. The only thing missing from our son's "pasta with meatballs" was the meatballs. After the wait staff checked the menu to confirm they were indeed supposed to be included, they promised to be made quickly. Fifteen minutes later, we were almost all finished, his spaghetti was cold, and the meatballs were nowhere to be seen. The only bright spot was another waitress who came over of her own accord to ask how we were doing, showed understanding, and offered to arrange something for us. She is the reason for that one star. When paying, our ever-so-soothing waitress then announced: "We have consulted and decided to remove the spaghetti from the bill." €9.95. On a bill of over €500. I expected Frans Bauer to come out from behind the counter at any moment to tell us that we were on Bananensplit. But no. After our surprise, an improved offer followed: three free drinks for twelve people. Then the operations manager came over. She considered this a fine concession and, moreover, felt that it was precisely *our* behavior that left something to be desired. So we just paid. Unfortunately, the subsequent handling of our complaint was also unable to restore the image. To this day, therefore, I hope that a camera crew will show up on our doorstep after all, or that, without knowing it, we were extras in a Netflix documentary about how hospitality definitely should *not* be done. A buffet with a group? Fine. Breakfast is good too. But if you are thinking: we want to have a nice, cozy dinner out tonight? Then by all means, do some more Googling.

Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. We were a party of 12 and had made a reservation for 6:30 PM, but did not receive our food until around 8:35 PM. Despite the long wait, there was hardly any communication from the restaurant. We had to inquire ourselves multiple times and did not always receive a clear answer. It was striking that other tables arriving later received their food much earlier, even though the restaurant was not even half full. Additionally, several orders were incorrect. For instance, the meatballs were missing from a pasta with meatballs and still needed to be prepared. Ultimately, the pasta was sent back because the child was no longer hungry after waiting for over two hours. This pasta was subsequently removed from the bill as “compensation,” even though it had not even been eaten. We would like to emphasize that one employee eventually spoke with us in a very pleasant and understanding manner. Unfortunately, the matter was then taken over by “the operational manager.” We experienced that conversation as very unpleasant and hostile. There was no opportunity to explain our feedback, hold a constructive conversation, or reach a normal solution. The initial compensation for a group of 12 people consisted of cancelling the returned pasta (which wasn't even eaten) and three drinks were OFFERED. We understand that things can go wrong during an evening out. For us, it was mainly about the combination of the extremely long wait time, errors in the orders, the lack of communication, and the way our complaint was subsequently handled. We came for a nice meal with a group after a sports match, but you don't get much food here anyway. Based on this experience, we will never come here again.

The service was awful. We were 2 hours waiting for our meal. It was also quite an empty restaurant with not so many occupied tables. The portions were tiny. For the price you’re paying it’s 100% not worth it. You could buy a nicer ready made meal in AH. They made multiple mistakes with our order for example they forgot the meatballs in the ‘spaghetti with meatballs’. Will not be coming back

On Easter Monday, we had brunch at Papendal with 8 people (4 adults and 4 children) during the Paashunt. The food was delicious, there was an incredible amount of choice, and it looked beautiful. At the price of €35.50, including participation in the Paashunt, it was also very affordable.

Food and service are disappointing. In contrast to the hotel staff and the experience there. The fish ordered was overcooked turned out to be raw; the wait staff thought that was how it was supposed to be. It is one thing for things to go wrong, but a solution or someone thinking along with us is certainly desired.

Good wine and friendly staff. The selection was limited, but the quality was good. The mango tiramisu was superb.

Had a nice meal with 11 people, unfortunately Upon arrival a beautifully decorated table, that's it. Service sometimes inappropriate and did not seem to understand the business. After two hours still no main course. Three people were able to eat after the others had already finished eating. It was very fascinating to see meat from a plastic bag being draped on the plate!! We have been apologized for, as have the drinks. We preferred to have a nice evening with good food.

Today was the first time I've organized Christmas brunch, as far as I understand. Friendly staff. Good food, but unfortunately, no live cooking due to very few guests. Beautiful view. Lots of potential for the future, no Van der Valk crowds.

We ate here for a work outing. They might as well have just put a block of butter on the table. The slogan is "Passion for healthy, sustainable, and above all, delicious food." Well, it's anything but healthy or delicious. Bread and dips means: bread with butter. The dips are a few drops of oil mixed with a few drops of balsamic vinegar. We waited hours for the food. The pasta was pasta with butter and two tiny pieces of burnt vegetables on top. It was inedible. I asked for salt and pepper and added it to both dishes so I could taste something other than just butter. I immediately cooked vegetables and eggs at home and made a salad because I was hungry and needed protein and vegetables. What a disgrace this restaurant is.

Wow. This restaurant is just abysmal. We were basically trapped at this hotel, so had no choice in the matter. I ordered a ‘steak’ and got some kind of boiled pink rubbery thing: I honestly couldn’t tell what kind of protein it was. Dinner took almost 2 hours. But the staff were friendly and trying their best. Oh and a basic dinner for 2 with no alcohol cost about 75 euro. I feel slightly ill as I’m typing this.

Friendly, fast service. The atmosphere was fine, a bit standard, nothing special, but okay. Unfortunately, the food was truly awful. My friend and I both didn't finish our main courses after tasting them. Pricey considering the poor quality.

We had dinner at Tritt last night at 9 pm. It was fantastic. The food was delicious and piping hot. A real treat for the palate. We had rump steak and an extra salad. The price/performance ratio was excellent. The staff was very friendly. We'll definitely be back. Compliments to the chef as well. Birgit Dolling

If you're hungry - don't go there. We waited over an hour for our food, the glasses were often empty and the service was not very attentive. The pasta was horrible. Noodles with butter for 17€. Chicken and steak were fine. After the waiter's stroppy reply, we skipped dessert.

We had a company event at the restaurant. The staff was bringing food and drinks hanging them in the air for the others to take and give to whoever. This is weird for a waitress to stand on the side and make gestures of us to give her an empty plate or expect someone far away from her to get their plate. We werent welcomed very nicely but more like why are we coming there. According to them we were one hour earlier but our program was very precise so even if it was a misunderstanding they should have welcomed us nicely. The food was very tasty but mine was vegetarian and different than the majority so cant say for all. Still portions were too small and there was alot of waiting between each dish. They asked for new drinks once they delivered the food so it made no sense to most of us. The pictures are if the two kinds of food.

The service was absolutely terrible, unbelievable. We had a pitch and putt package that included coffee and apple pie or a muffin. The muffins were placed on the table in front of our group with the remark, "Fight over them." When we'd finished half of the pastries, a staff member came by with a whipped cream dispenser. After pitch and putt, we ordered lunch. Two people at our table had to wait a full 45 minutes for their orders. The rest had already finished their food. The toasted sandwiches were tasty, but burnt. After this experience, I don't plan on ever going back to this bar. I've never experienced anything like it.

Had a great lunch, but it's not really the most attractive location. The staff who spoke to us on the 1st floor were also not very hospitable. On the ground floor, on the other hand, they were very friendly!
