Awesome!! A big surprise at this place!

Very friendly, pleasant atmosphere, good quality. On our second visit, there were three people who informed us that we needed a reservation for dinner, but then no one managed to serve us. A shame, so we left.

What a cool place this is! Great food and drinks in a somewhat industrial setting. A nice menu and beautiful dishes made with local ingredients. Indoors and outdoors, the choice is huge! It's worth the drive!

The location is fantastic – quiet and with a beautiful view of the North Sea. There's plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant. The price-performance ratio is rather average, but of course, you're also paying for the special location. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. After we ordered, the food arrived, but then no one paid any further attention to us. It's a shame, because the great location deserved a much better overall impression.

The carpaccio 4 times as a starter had brown edges. 4 main courses were cold and raw (potatoes, sirloin, vegetables, and my sauce). Dessert: no coffee with the dessert, no sugar with the other coffees, and no scoop of ice cream with the cheesecake. Had to wait a long time for the food. Didn't eat well for a lot of money. Never again!

It took a bit long for the service, had a bouliebad and soup of the day. It was okay. There were razor clams in it, nice to see next to the kookels.

Rockanje-Oostvoorne-Rockanje Walk... Snow, cold, and wet... Aan Zee is always a wonderful stop, offering itself as a reference point in the distance. Bouillabaisse, apple pie, waffles... nice and relaxing, and back to the Spa Hotel in Rockanje...delicious!

We were there over Christmas. Having been there before, I knew the food was good. This time, it was a bit of a shame there wasn't a dessert option, which I passed on because: eggnog (I don't drink alcohol) and coffee biscuits (literally coffee-flavored, I don't like coffee). So that was a shame. But the rest of the food was good. My criticism isn't about the food, but about the atmosphere. We were seated at a table in VERY BRIGHT SUNLIGHT, and there was no sunshade whatsoever. There wasn't another table. The sun was incredibly bright in our faces, so I (a migraine sufferer) had to wear sunglasses throughout the meal. I don't understand why there weren't sunshades to easily solve such a problem and keep the guests comfortable. The other problem was the music. Again, we were there over CHRISTMAS. You expect pleasant background music then. It doesn't necessarily have to be "jingle bells," of course, but something atmospheric, not overpowering, etc. But it felt like we were in a nightclub. Loud, thumping music! Very overpowering. Incomprehensible. For us, a reason not to go there again next Christmas.

My favorite restaurant for years, always delicious food and excellent service. It's fantastic to sit on the terrace, at a table, at the bar, or on the sofa by the fireplace. The quality of the food is truly superb. The staff is fantastic; apart from the holiday workers, all the waitstaff are very knowledgeable about the menu and know exactly how to handle any questions. Two big thumbs up from me!

There you are. On a Saturday at 2:00 PM, standing in front of a closed door… online, it says you're open as usual.

We had a great lunch for four people, with friendly and efficient service. Beautiful location with a fantastic view of the dunes and sea.

Beautiful view. But unfortunately, the food was terrible and the service was terrible.

There were two of us during a shared dining weekend. The starters were fine, although the carpaccio was notable for its wateriness. The chicken in the main course was undercooked. And there was no waitstaff around. So we left the undercooked chicken. When clearing the table, the waiter said, "I'll pass it on." My wife then saw the chef shrug. After that, the service was distant to freezing. The dessert was a bit dull. Not particularly inspired. But I understand that now, with the chef shrugging his shoulders. In short, it started off well, but we were happy to leave. We won't be returning.

The stressed-out gentleman is extremely unfriendly, bordering on rude. I was trying to help them. The place is a mess, with dirty tables strewn with cups, glasses, and plates everywhere.

Just had a drink at Aan Zee. The weather was great and the terrace was open. Beautiful place. But the staff refused to serve us outside. Absolutely terrible. Ordering at the bar wasn't possible either. We ended up sitting inside, ordering, and taking it outside. The staff was very grumpy and rude.

We booked afternoon tea with a group of 12 for a special birthday. The location is beautiful, nestled in the dunes near Oostvoorne. Upon arrival, we checked in with the staff. We told them that someone we met was ill, meaning there were only eleven of us. Two tables were set for us, and a couple were standing between them, which wasn't exactly cozy, but okay. At some point, pots of hot water were brought, along with fresh mint, fresh ginger, lemon and orange slices, and a jar of honey. There were also pots of fresh tea on the tables, which you can put in your own tea bag. Then the first appetizers were served. Both tables had a tiered tray of sweets, with three of each. A plate of crostini, in the same odd number, was followed by some mumbling about vegetarian appetizers. We then replied, "You mean low-carb?" There was no real reaction. We thought it was strange that we had to share, but we figured we'd just do. Just as the first appetizers were already on the plates at a table, it turned out a mistake had been made during the serving process. The appetizers for an afternoon tea for 5 or 6 people were served to us. To err is human, and it's all about how you resolve them... That proved quite difficult in this case. We ended up sitting at the table for 45 minutes without any appetizers, and we had to ask several times about the status of the appetizers ourselves. When the appetizers finally arrived, we enjoyed them. They were mostly freshly made, and the taste was good. They regularly checked to see if we had enough water in the teapots. One of the ladies was on a low-carb diet, and they really put a lot of effort into preparing these appetizers as well. We really want to compliment them on that. The remaining appetizers were given to us in a doggy bag. When we paid, we again mentioned how the mis-serving had been resolved. That this could have been handled much better and that they could have communicated this more proactively to us. We suspect the manager essentially shifted the blame to the waitress; he couldn't do anything because we were already eating (which wasn't the case). The words "sorry" and "apologies for the inconvenience" were completely absent from his vocabulary. He could have offered us another drink at the restaurant's expense, or served the easier-to-prepare appetizers earlier. But none of that occurred to him. A hospitality experience revolves around taste, service, and ambiance. Although the taste was good, we won't be booking another afternoon tea here or recommending the venue to others because of our experience with the service.

Sunday, September 21, 2025: We had a truly fantastic lunch! There were five of us, we had walked in the dunes, and at Restaurant Aan Zee, we all ordered something completely different... from homemade apple crumble, homemade waffle with warm cherries, seafood omelet with wakame, croque Mekkerstee, and a seaweed wrap... and... all five of us were pleasantly surprised; we also had a fantastic meal at this fantastic, hospitable place! We sat outside at a crowded, dirty table for 30 minutes. We asked inside twice if someone could help, but nothing. Disgraceful!

Where should I begin? What should it be? The waiter asked. It's difficult without a menu, isn't it?! Oh yes, I'll get it. I ordered a club sandwich and carpaccio with bread. Unfortunately, I sent the club sandwich back after a few bites; it had a long hair in it, not ours with our short haircuts. The waitress took it with her and asked the head waiter if she was right. A little later, she politely returned to say a new one was being made. No apology or offer of a drink while you wait. Nothing at all about the checkout. Unfortunately, it was a missed opportunity, and therefore not a good experience.

Today open-says the Restaurant. But I stand in front of a closed place 🤔

Nice view but relatively expensive

Friendly staff, open for questions (which is not a given nowadays). Nice location with inside and outside tables. It's literally at the end of the road so somewhat remote which I liked. Unfortunately I was to late to eat. Nice little touch is the path to the roof of the building with opens up a nice overview of the area.

This restaurant has the perfect location, overlooking the sea while dining or enjoying drinks outside. The restaurant offers several great specialty beers, and the food was simply excellent. Sometimes it could take a while for your order to arrive, but the staff did their best. The seaweed sausage is highly recommended; you get a dried sausage with pieces of seaweed in it that you can dip in grape mustard. This place is also very dog-friendly; the terrace is perfect for taking your dog.

Four of us dined here. Beautiful location, table outside on the edge of the dunes with a view of the setting sun. Uniquely, the restaurant generates its own electricity from sun, wind, and geothermal energy, cooks on wood, purifies wastewater through natural systems, and uses rainwater, eliminating the need for gas, sewer, or external power connections. The food was good. They were attentive to allergies. An incorrect order was delivered, which was quickly corrected. The service was enthusiastic.

Delicious food, great service, and a lovely summer evening on the terrace. And it's remarkable to have such a wide selection of wines by the glass. You're even surprised with a wine not on the menu. A fantastic evening. Enjoyed it!

What a disaster. No regard for the customer. Orders were forgotten twice. The owner/manager was very unfriendly and rude to customers. On Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM, no one was allowed on the patio because the evening preparations weren't ready yet. What a disaster.

Well, what can I say? Perhaps to start with: there were few staff. One gentleman and a very friendly young woman, but we encountered them at the checkout. Both were busy, but on the other hand, there weren't many customers. Anyway, the gentleman noticed us after a while and asked, almost rudely, what we wanted. We placed our order, and halfway through, he was already ready to go. Coffee and waffle with cherries. The coffee arrived, and the gentleman shouted, "The waffle will be here soon, it needs to be baked," and then he was gone. After at least 20 minutes, with our coffee long gone, he brought the waffle. We jokingly said, "Gosh, we thought you'd forgotten us." He barked, "I told you it would take a long time." The waffle was cold, with pale, cold cherries and some runny whipped cream. Funny how something like that can ruin your mood so much. The young woman at the checkout was an excellent hostess. Get that guy working in a warehouse somewhere ASAP.

What a lovely place with a matching menu. We sat outside in the sunshine. The lunch fish specialty is highly recommended. Delicious and generous portions. It's also a beautiful area for walking.

Service was obligatory, not terrible, but not exactly engaging and service-oriented. The food wasn't exactly what you'd expect in such a beautiful location. There's so much more potential there. It's a shame...

Today we had a baby shower here. The host and ladies decorated it very nicely. The service was super friendly. The food was delicious, we had a high tea, very varied. Really above expectations. Not a 10 but a 20+ for location, super service and also delicious food.

Beautiful location with sea view, nice staff, slightly confusing menu

It is a beautiful location and the food is good, but you have to be patient. There is a big difference in the friendliness of the staff. When making a reservation, we asked twice if we could sit outside if there was room, and that was fine. Once there, the manager had to be involved to allow us to sit outside, but that was not a great pity... and we really missed the customer friendliness. Another time we were there at 3 in the afternoon on a sunny Sunday. We were told that the kitchen was already closed and we could only get apple pie. Very strange when the opening hours are until 6 am. It can really be a great location for a nice bite to eat, but the policy in some cases and the customer friendliness make it less accessible for us.

Very long waiting times and price/quality is not quite right

Unfortunately had a bad experience today. We waited almost an hour for a soup and salad and it was not stated in advance that the waiting time was longer than usual. In addition, the rest of the service also left something to be desired, we had to ask for the table to be cleaned after the waitress put our drinks in the breadcrumbs of the previous guests. We won't be coming back here again.

The Lunch uses a nice place to visit.

Coffee with apple pie for 2 people. Both apple pies were not good, they seemed not cooked properly. Reported this, but the answer has never been any problems. We had to pay 18 euros. Also similar problems at Marion's mother company hotel, RESTAURANT NOT PROPERLY CLEAN. ADVICE AVOID FROM MARION

Great atmosphere quiet and peaceful place

Upon arrival, the first four employees were too busy to greet while walking by. Now that doesn't matter much, but unfortunately this behavior did not change during the rest of our presence. In any case, she did not seem cheerful. Drinks were only taken during arrival and lunch delivery and there was no passing by in the meantime. The food was nothing special. And to end on a positive note; the appearance of the building is superb. You can make so much more of it.

Nice meal, but 19.50 for a club sandwich is on the high side. For that money you get fries with it... that's for sure

We had a delicious lunch. The dishes were very well prepared! Staff was friendly!! Even provided a bowl of water for our pup.

It's a nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee or a beer with a great view, but I have a feeling that they source their products from AH or Jumbo. The food is terrible for the high prices they charge. I wouldn't recommend buying food here.

Had to wait an hour for a waffle, bread with spread and sandwich. Then the waffle came and 10 minutes later the rest. The vegetarian dish on the menu turned out to be just sausage. The place is very beautiful, but next time I will walk/cycle/drive a little further for a better experience...

Had a fantastic evening here on February 14! Delicious food, good and fun service, and our dog was allowed to come along. So nice! Thank you very much, we will definitely come back!

Nice atmosphere in terms of decor, service was not that friendly, we had to wait a very long time for our lunch. The food was fine.

I have a fairly positive attitude, but this sunny winter afternoon at the beach on a Sunday after a long walk with the dog, the coffee moment did not do me much good. Of course, we lack all sympathy for the staff, but upon arrival we found a sunny outdoor terrace with empty cups and glasses in the area where the sofas were made up with cushions. The benches were free and we were surprised to find this sunny spot. Pretty soon we heard sounds of people walking away after asking if they could sit outside and order. This option was not available and at least 3 families left with disappointing and plaintive singing. Still, we were hungry for coffee and joined inside. There was certainly coffee, but unfortunately some goodies had already been consumed, to which I spontaneously responded with; the nice weather is also quite unexpected. No, said the clerk, they have given up on this 🤓. As an entrepreneur, I got an error in my brain out of surprise. So we could have coffee at 3:00 PM without any treats, but with a standard cookie that they serve. Our large oat cappuccino tasted delicious, but after paying for these two identical coffees for 15 euros together I really fell off my stool. Now you read this and think? Then you would have sat outside with your coffee, wouldn't you? No, it was expressly stated that this was not allowed. Sad experience and I will certainly find my coffee moments elsewhere in this area, unfortunately this place is no longer my coffee and/or work spot.

Had lunch here. We couldn't really find anything on the menu that appealed to us and ultimately went for a tomato soup. It tasted good. Together we took a breadboard with spreads. It was huge. Nice fresh bread. In my opinion, the spreads could have used some aioli or herb butter instead of just tapenades. But otherwise fine.

Nice place to relax after a long walk. Good cappuccino and delicious cake! On weekends it is advisable to make a reservation. It can be very busy.

Had a lovely time outside this afternoon. Great location!! Too bad my toasty contained almost no ham and cheese! Had to pay E5 for it, really bad! My husband had 2 large sandwiches with mushrooms, had no taste! Too bad we don't do that anymore!!

Standing in front of a closed door for the 2nd time... 1st time we were not allowed to enter while they were still open... 2nd time it was a private lunch... 3rd time won't happen again...

We sat inside by the fireplace. Poor view outside, a noisy group of 6 next to us. Not ideal.

We used to always enjoy coming here; After all, it is a beautiful location. Back then the food was delicious and the kitchen could always delight us with something creative. Today this was unfortunately different. Even though it started quite well, the main course was served almost cold, and the service did nothing with it. Furthermore, the dishes (except the starter) were not special and the execution left much to be desired. At €40 for a three-course menu this is a real disappointment.

Last week a cup of coffee (flat white) with a piece of apple pie and partner with pear pie. In summary, the tastiest cakes on the island as far as we are concerned. Freshly baked, highly flavoured, own recipe... how different is it from many other restaurants... big applause for the kitchen!!!

Nice. nicely furnished location with beautiful views. The service is on the slow side, we had to wait a long time for two simple toasted sandwiches. Quite the price. On weekends it is wise to make a reservation for lunch or dinner.

A really delicious meal with 6 people for my birthday. The meat dishes were fantastically tender and with delicious vegetables and sauces. The service was good. Everything was top notch. It was quiet on a Friday evening. What I didn't expect It is definitely a restaurant to eat again. I'll bring a cardigan next time, it was a bit chilly near the door where we sat It was otherwise a wonderful evening out

Very good beach tent with a new menu that has become much better

Busy place! Nice restaurant to have a bite.

Atmosphere is good, nice location and partly nice view. Menu and food nothing special. The food tasted okay, but was served messily. The various goat cheeses concern firm goat cheese cut into cubes, in which no distinction can be made between types, probably the same type of cheese with and without herbs (?). Unfortunately it took a very long time before anything came to the table. Three salads and some bread should be easier, especially considering the layout, etc. The answer to the question about desserts: "only apple crumble, because it's been so busy the last few days"... was questionable. Aren't fresh things prepared every day and would otherwise have been a piece of cake that has been served outside the refrigerator for 3 days? It's worth repeating for a cup of coffee or tea, but it won't be for lunch/dinner anymore. Later we went again for high tea with a similar experience. Great place to stay for a drink. The food is just so so.

Upon arrival, there were empty glasses on all the tables that were still available. Took a while before they came to take an order. Normally the empty glasses are taken away immediately. Not here. Then they bring the drinks, with a tray, and again, no empty glasses were taken. Then when paying, they want to charge us for 4 drinks while we only had 2. The location is certainly a plus.

Fantastic beautiful restaurant in a beautiful location and excellent service by the ladies. So much for the positive news. It was a pity that the main course was very disappointing. Dry pork tenderloin, soggy piece of eggplant and pepper and raw cauliflower and broccoli. All this with an unstable sauce.... In short, not exciting and boringly served. This could really be better! Fortunately, the starter and dessert were fine.

Beautiful point to end or start a dune or beach walk

Ordered wine and beer, appetizers are not on the menu because they don't have a deep fryer. Ok, then just add an apple crumble...it was inedible, the apple was al dente, let's say. Removed from the account after consultation. The sink tap in the men's toilet was defective, you find out when you have just put soap in your hands... then you have to wash in the ladies' toilet, which is (understandably) surprising to the lady who has just come from the toilet. Hygiene in the toilet is also so, so... Next time we will look for another spot near the otherwise beautiful beach area.

We found the 'fish' menu a bit disappointing for a seaside restaurant, but the service was very nice

This place remains unique. Also by the sea. The menu is difficult for the average taste, lots of exciting things. I like that, my kids less so. But there are toasted sandwiches, which were fine. The tomato soup was very high in flavor and low in salt, actually not that tasty. The homemade iced tea was bitter and really not OK, taste it next time instead of just calculating 3.95. A small piece of cake that we asked for our 5-year-old daughter was charged 1.50 because 'it was a slightly larger piece'. That is allowed, but discuss this in advance. Finally, my shells were full of sand, something that really disgusts me. Isn't it worth it then? Certainly. Because the service is friendly and pleasant, the food is also really good and the place makes all the sour sweet. The homemade ice cream too.

Cozy restaurant within walking distance of the beach of Oostvoorne with large terrace. Tasty dishes and friendly employees.

Fish and chips... cod, some pieces still raw... looks more like fast food brought to the table... Staff responds adequately and quickly prepared a better cooked kibbeling... You can sit outside...nice view... Always busy so reservations are necessary.

Unfriendly staff who looked away and asked us what do you want and we drink, oh then just find a table because eating is not possible. Then we could move in the sun, shade places were occupied. The homemade iced tea turned out to be water with ice and frozen fruit, tasteless.

Just for an aperitif, nice site, you just have to ask for the service.

Friendly welcome. Nice menu. Customization of dish or something extra is possible. Clear explanation of the dishes, including when serving. You have time to eat. When the weather is nice, a large outdoor terrace. Worth repeating.

Basically just 4 or 5 stars, beer, Aperol, nothing to worry about. Beautiful location…but you are only as good as your staff! We wanted to try the seaweed sausage. Didn't know this. There was a vague description of what it is. Anyway, I ordered it to try. It turned out to be just dry sausage with a little seaweed. A disappointment and especially not to our taste. That in itself is possible. When paying, the waitress asked if everything was OK. In principle yes, but we did not like the sausage. Then came the comment that rubbed us the wrong way. She literally said 'tastes differ and you can't always roll 6'. You make such a comment to friends in the pub, but not to your guests who have to pay 9 euros for such a portion. Work to be done!

It takes a long time before you are helped and the previous people's things are removed from the table late

Surprisingly nice place with a wonderful view. It's also nice to see how people do business responsibly here and run a gas-free restaurant. We will definitely come back. (Tip, take a dune walk along the nature trails. Make sure you bring waterproof shoes 😜)
