Recommended for meat eaters, not for vegetarians. Service is great, especially the wine was superb. Location is convenient and nice. Main downside is that vegetarian dishes were just replacing the meat with a vegetable. Eg the lam with beetroot. Which means they weren’t as sophisticated and not filling. We stuffed ourselves with bread which was a bit of a shame for a fancy dinner. It’s clear they are an afterthought and not designed by someone who eats vegetarian or has vegetarian friends.

A real taste sensation. Pleasant service in a beautifully decorated restaurant. Enough reasons to come back.

An evening you will never forget at Apicius in Bakkum If you are looking for a culinary experience that will stay with you for a long time, then restaurant Apicius in Bakkum is highly recommended. From the moment we stepped in, we felt welcome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff did everything they could to make our evening special. The sommelier was not only extremely knowledgeable, but also knew how to pick up my interest in wine flawlessly. He turned it into a party by letting me taste a few surprising “blinds” — an experience that gave the evening that little bit extra. One of the two brothers who run the restaurant was the waiter himself, and that made the evening even more personal. With his charming character and fascinating stories between courses, he was the perfect host and entertainer. And then the food… wow! We opted for the all-in menu: four courses full of culinary delights, accompanied by tasty amuses and delicious treats with coffee and for the way home. The wine pairing was taken care of down to the last detail and generous drinks were served for those who enjoy a good glass. In short, Apicius has exceeded our expectations. The combination of fantastic food, great wines and a team that breathes hospitality made this an evening we will not soon forget. We will definitely come back here and recommend it to anyone who wants to treat themselves to a special evening!

It's a pleasure every time at Apicius. One of the few restaurants where we have left completely satisfied and never disappointed. A chic restaurant with a wink, always full glasses and high-quality food. Trust me, well worth the money A gem in the polder!!

Works with only fresh local products and uses the best quality/price ratio available every day to prepare the most suitable way of preparing the basic ingredient, such as turbot, to its best advantage (grillé with mousseline sauce and a spoon of the best Mustard from Dyon!!! These people deserved to keep their 2nd star... but from star 2 onwards it is no longer so much about food but interior and exterior and has no influence at all on the quality or preparation of their DISHES! I just wanted to mention this, location and surroundings also count to retain the 2nd star, I am not allowed to post an opinion about that, but I am allowed to post that I prefer a table surrounded by the best and very friendly service with a visible piece. Gestern Abend durften wir ein tolles 5-Gänge-Menü genießen. Wir wurden samt Hyundai freundlich empfangen. Es gab ein Chicoréeschaumsüppchen einer Käse Creme Brulee und tollen Bitterballen, Steinbeißer mit Chicorée und Seetang, Kabeljau an Sauerkraut, Filet vom Kalb mit saisionalen Gemüse und karamelliertes Brioche mit Früchten mit Joghurteis. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Restaurant der gehobenen Küche ist bedingungslos weiter zu empfehlen.

It may have been more than 10 years since we first ate here. We wondered why we never went again after that. Did we not like the food? Was the service not in order? We couldn't think of an answer... The reason for this evening was a gift voucher that we were happy to redeem. The first thing that came to my mind when we walked in was: classic. The service is neatly dressed and the tables are also classically laid. I am often afraid that it will become very stiff, but fortunately that turned out not to be the case. Our gift consisted of the all-inclusive dinner menu, i.e. a glass of champagne upon arrival, appetizer, four-course menu, matching wines and coffee. It started well with the champagne, specially made for Apicius by Mandois. A delicious blanc de blancs. We received three delicious appetizers, a wild garlic soup, a lovage pastry with smoked eel and a bitterball made of oyster mushrooms. That promised something good for the evening! The first course consisted of a terrine of poultry and pistachio with frisée salad and foam of Amsterdam pickles. The wine was an Albariño from Granbazan, also very tasty. Then there was fish on the plate, Turbot with a parsley root, cavalo nero (an Italian cabbage), a vinaigrette and finished with some potato crackling. The wine, from the Loire region, was a Chenonceaux from Touraine. Never had it before, but still very tasty! The main course consisted of rosé prepared veal tenderloin with red wine gravy, fried polenta, eggplant, fried mushrooms and peas in basil oil. To die for! Also a delicious wine, red of course, a sturdy Montepulciano, the VignaMadre Becco Reale. For dessert we finish with a flan made of dark chocolate, with pineapple and finished with some rum-raisin ice cream. We drink a rosé, the Floc de Gascogne. What delicious dishes! We are eating so much that we decide to have another course with cheese. These all come from the Netherlands and taste exceptionally good. We end the meal with coffee and some tasty friandises. How we enjoyed it! We were wonderfully pampered, the glasses were filled on time, the bread was good, the food delicious, nothing to complain about really. We will certainly not wait another 10 years to return to this beautiful Michelin star restaurant!

Het is een wonder dat een restaurant van dit niveau in een dorpje als Bakkum overleeft: dat zegt wel iets over de prijs- kwaliteit verhouding van de maaltijd! Er is een vast menu, je kiest het aantal gerechten, met desgewenst aanpassingen. Wij hadden 4 gangen: cannelloni van courgette met heerlijke vulling, tarbot met asperges, kalfshaas en dessert met verschillende bereidingen van rabarber. Onze jonge gastheer vertelde bevlogen over de bijpassende wijnen. Dit is ons nieuwe favoriete restaurant in de regio, we gaan zeker terug.

Apicius is a luxury restaurant in Castricum. We took the all-inclusive package here. A nice deal, value for money. The food was delicious, beautiful dishes, both visually and in terms of taste. The service was good for most of the evening, until almost the end. When the coffee was served, the seniors disappeared behind the scenes. The juniors were apparently tired, because when we wanted to ask for the bill we waited fifteen minutes (!) without seeing anyone. We finally walked to the kitchen ourselves. Not really what you expect in a star restaurant.

Apicius is een luxe restaurant in Castricum. We hebben hier het all inclusive arrangement genomen. Een mooie deal, value for money. Het eten was heerlijk, mooie gerechten, zowel visueel als qua smaak. De bediening was het grootste deel van de avond goed, tot bijna het einde. Toen de koffie was opgediend verdwenen de seniors achter de schermen. De junioren waren blijkbaar moe, want toen we de rekening wilden vragen hebben we een kwartier(!) gewacht zonder dat we iemand zagen. We zijn uiteindelijk zelf maar naar de keuken gelopen. Niet echt wat je verwacht in een sterrenrestaurant.

Wat een verrassing, mooie locatie aan de rand van de duinen in Bakkum. De combinaties waren subliem, prachtige producten met heerlijke wijnen. Een restaurant waar je echt blij van wordt. Wij komen hier zeker terug !

Beautiful 4 course lunch. Choice of drinks with every course. My son and I were without alcohol. Every drink was delicious. And so beautifully made.

Once again it was absolutely fantastic. In terms of taste and quality, the food is actually one star too few with 1 Michelin star. Operation is exactly how you want it. This really is and remains a great evening out and with the all-in menu so much value for money. There could be an upgrade in terms of furnishings and chair choice. But in terms of food and service you really are one of the top 5 restaurants in the Netherlands. Kudos to men.

Very good restaurant with an excellent price/quality ratio. Of course, eating in a star restaurant is expensive, but at Apicius the prices are okay. The service is fast and smooth. The somelier was very friendly but often talked about himself. Parking is easy and free across the street. Top experience in Castricum!

Great taste experience with matching wines. The welcome is warm, the restaurant is attractively decorated and the service provides a detailed explanation of each dish and wine.

This was our first experience in a star restaurant. We had a wonderful evening. There was a nice accessible atmosphere and the food with the accompanying wines were delicious! The entire service was well coordinated. Nice balance between young catering talents and the maître as a veteran. Excellent! We will definitely come back someday.

What can I say. I hate Michelin star restaurants. Overpriced and pompous. Added to that I am not a big fish fan so obviously going to such a place is just a recipe for disaster. However, was invited here on business. Well, the food was awesome the service was impeccable and the recommended wine was amazing. Even the Italian olive oil was out of this world. It was obvious the team are passionate about what they are doing. Would I go again yes for sure it is nice to see a team take pride in what they do and do it so will. Do I still like Michelin star restaurants? Not really, but this has softened my stance. One annoying fact is I forgot my phone so could not take pictures.

One of the better fine dining experiences we have had! The food was phenomenal, the young host was extremely enthusiastic and passionate, not to mention the wine and food combination (which was also very good). Even for my wife (who does not drink alcohol) mocktails were made which she really liked. A really great evening, thank you apicius, you will see us again!

Beste vis wat ik ooit heb gegeten, met een heerlijke wijntje erbij.

Wat een heerlijke, lekkere en servicegerichte fijne ervaring. Ga hier niet naar toe als je snel even een hapje wil doen, maar ga hier vooral heen voor de beleving rond het dineren. Naast eigenaren Thorvald en Gaylord is het team dat daar de beleving realiseert fenomenaal qua kennis en kunde. Ga zo door!

Altijd goed! Heerlijke gerechten, fijne sfeer en fijn personeel. Altijd een feest om hier te zijn.

Zaterdagavond hier gegeten. Wauw wat hebben wij een top avond gehad. Der sfeer het eten de uitleg over de wijnen, echt die ster hebben zij dubbel en dwars verdiend. Wij komen hier volgend jaar weer terug en kunnen het iedereen aanbevelen.

Voor de eerste keer gegeten, je wordt hier echt als koning behandeld, Heel vriendelijk personeel. Eten met wijn keurig op elkaar afgestemd. Top avond gehad.

We hebben een fantastische avond gehad. De bediening is zeer vriendelijk en kundig. Ontzettend leuk om uitleg te krijgen over de wijnen en de gerechten. De gerechten zijn van een hoogstaande kwaliteit. Kortom, een aanrader!

Het is alweer een tijdje geleden dat we bij Apicius gegeten hebben. Vandaag zijn we er voor de lunch geweest. Hartelijke ontvangst door gastheer en gastvrouw en fijn advies voor een witte wijn voor bij het lunchmenu. Een van de drie amuses was een bitterbal waarvan de inhoud zo heet was dat ik mijn lip eraan brande. Vervolgens opengesneden om af te laten koelen en dit doorgegeven aan de bediening zodat ze dit niet nog een keer doen in de keuken. De bitterbal was te lang voorverwarmd in de oven. Na een zeer smakelijk voor en tussengerecht wordt het hoofdgerecht(zeebaars) geserveerd waar de stoom vanaf komt. Bij opensnijden kon je de vis niet aanraken zonder je eraan te branden. Ook dit hebben we wederom aan de bediening gemeld. Dit is een sterrenrestaurant onwaardig. In een sterrenrestaurant verwacht je vers gemaakte producten en geen gerechten die alleen in de oven bereid/oververhit worden. Je verwacht niet dat je tot twee keer toe je mond verbrand aan de gerechten. Tijdens het afrekenen vertelde ik op een vriendelijke manier aan de chef-kok dat ik mijn mond had verbrand en het enige wat hij terug zei is: we hadden u toch gewaarschuwd! en draaide zich om. Dit is het laatste wat je verwacht van een restaurant met een ster(onwaardig).

Waanzinnig lekker eten, hele goede vegetarische opties (wel bij reservering vermelden) en super goede wijn spijs combinaties door top sommelier.

An excellent evening with friends. Very attentive and friendly staff, wonderful food in a combination of excellently balanced subtle and bold flavours. Spent just over three-hundred euro' for the four course meal and two wine menu's; scarily affordable considering the quality being served here.

Wow! Definitely worth all the praise they get. The food was delicious, well presented and just the right portion. The service was friendly and quick, providing some fun facts and 8nformation about every course and glass of wine. The price is very reasonable especially the 5 course menu. Parking is free across the street.

Wat een feestje om hier te eten! Alles klopte hier bij ons bezoek gisterenavond! Waar de ene broer ons met zijn warme persoonlijkheid en gulle lach thuis deed voelen, kookt de andere broer hier de sterren van de hemel en kregen wij kleurrijk gestileerde gerechten voorgeschoteld, vergezeld gaand van mooie wijnen. Ontzettend lekker gegeten en bijzonder goede en vriendelijke bediening. Met hele mooie presentatie en informatie van de gerechten en de wijnen!

Wow, wat heb ik een fantastische culinaire ervaring gehad samen met mijn zoon vanavond. We hebben geweldige gerechten geproefd met heerlijke bijpassende wijnen. Daarbij is de gastvrouw en zijn de gastheren ontzettend vriendelijk en vrolijk. Enorm bedankt voor de fijne avond!

Vandaag weer bij Apicius met 4 personen voortreffelijk gelunched. Met name de relatie kwaliteit<>prijs blijft verbazingwekkend goed. Met grote regelmaat eten wij ook elders in het land, maar als we eerlijk zijn kunnen maar weinig etablissementen wedijveren met Apicius, waar niet alleen de gerechten veelvuldig varieren, maar ook het wijnarrangement verrassend is op een ongekend hoog niveau. Het all-inclusive menu is voor een restaurant met een Michelin ster met dit prijsniveau onnavolgbaar. Gauw weer naar toe.

Zeer vriendelijke ontvangst uitstekend eten met zeer verassende bijpassende top wijnen.

Heerlijke avond gehad! Toprestaurant met fantastisch eten en prachtige wijnen. Fijne ambiance, goede bediening. Prijs-kwaliteit zeer goed.

Wat weer een geweldige lunch. Mijn partner koos het vier-gangen lunchmenu. Ik vond alle voorgerechten op de kaart zo aantrekkelijk, dat ik besloot alle voorgerechten te nemen. Wat een geweldige keuze, alles even verfijnd, van de zeeduivel & Europese kreeft tot de Tartaar "Martino." Wat ik ook zo waardeer aan deze keuken, de altijd constante kwaliteit! Deze keuken is niet ingesprongen op de trends van spicy, sharing etc.. Hier geen trendy gedoe, duidelijke kaart, gewoon een perfecte prijs/kwaliteitverhouding en een uitstekende bediening, de wijnkaart subliem. Dit restaurant verdient 2 Michelinsterren, Bedankt!

Een echt avondje uit, perfect eten, vakkundige geïnteresseerde bediening en mooie wijnen. Wat is er nog meer nodig. Menu de Essentie Apicius. Een gevarieerd 5 gangen menu , Tonijn, Tarbot,Zeebaars en kreeft,Chateaubriand en Roos van Aarbei en Chocolade. Van een iets wat vlakke Tonijn naar een mooi rosé gebraden chateaubriand. Afsluitend fiandises met koffie, een avond voor de boeken en een 2e bezoek

Vind het echt een koopje. 110 euro voor een all-in menu waar er niet moeilijk wordt gedaan over een extra glaasje wijn of champagne. Of een extra kopje koffie. Dit niveau voor deze prijs echt top
