I always eat delicious poached eggs on a bed of spinach here. The service is incredibly friendly. And dogs are welcome too. Top location!

After eating and drinking something, we sat down to chat. At 20:45, a waiter asked us if we wanted anything in the final round? "You close at 9:30 PM. It's Saturday night?" Twenty minutes later, he came back again, asking us to leave within 15 minutes? "You close at 9:30 PM, why do we have to be out of the place by 9:15/9:20 PM at your request?" Never experienced this before. Disgraceful! But the staff thought it was perfectly normal. What awful staff!

I’ve been here many times, and it’s usually a great atmosphere with good drinks. Unfortunately, today the service was disappointing. We were asked by the tattooed guy in the Soundgarden T-shirt to pay a €50 bill in cash without a receipt. That already felt off. Then we were told the card machine wasn’t working. After paying, we realized the amount seemed high for what we had ordered. When we asked for a printed receipt, we saw that they had added 2 cappuccinos and 1 latte that we never ordered. They claimed they couldn’t reverse the payment for the drinks we didn’t get. Eventually, we did get the difference back, but by then, the whole experience had been ruined. This was especially frustrating since our relatives were staying at the hotel for multiple nights. Please ensure your staff are properly trained and not encouraged to engage in shady behavior or pocket money. It reflects badly on an otherwise nice place.

I’ve come in here pretty often and whenever this bartender is here, he’s just so rude and miserable. Also, I wouldn’t recommend the matcha- it’s just milk with a dash of matcha.

We had a small flamenkuech and a croque madame, they were good but the small flamenkuech is really a starter! The service was quite slow.

I ordered a glass of rosé, the server brought me white. I didn't see him for a half hour, and when I could flag him down he lied and said "it's a pale rosé"! I answered, this is clearly the semillion (their white variety) and he dug in. What a bizarre encounter to be lied to over a glass of wine. These rude servers need better training and learn how not to lie to customers to save $5. Or maybe the bartender is sloshing in two different wines together. The one I ordered has a "pale, salmon color" per google. Then he blew off our order of fries- too inconvenient to work, or perhaps he was embarrassed - he should be and so should management. We had dinner elsewhere.

Nice to have a cup of coffee but unfortunately the uitsmijter is no longer on the menu. Poached eggs are apparently hip but not really my thing. You can find them everywhere in Amsterdam these days. But a good uitsmijter unfortunately not. An option would be to walk past the breakfast buffet, that is there for the hotel guests. But still a nice place with friendly staff. Unfortunately that changes sometimes. The only constant is the nice gentleman with the nice moustache!. Still recommended!!

Everything was great, but the wines weren't really our thing.

I went to play at an open mic, and the venue is beautiful. It has tables and chairs overlooking the park, and the sunset is a great place to enjoy. Inside, it's very spacious, with two areas. While the open mic was taking place in one, people were having dinner in the other.

When you arrive at the terrace, you are told to wait until you are assigned a place. In practice, you have to pick a spot yourself. There is a QR code on the table, unfortunately it does not work. Then a staff member comes to ask what you want to drink and with a number of options it was immediately "we do not have that". Friend, if we do not get a menu or something, we cannot see that either. After a long time he did come to bring a menu plus what they did have. It turns out that they only serve "organic" cola. YUCK! It is not clearly stated on the menu. Waiters seemed to have lost their way on the terrace, walked aimlessly around with half orders and had to ask guests if it was their order. Not recommended

Bar Office is back. From 100% vegetarian to more diversity on the menu and, above all, tasty food. Very positively surprised by the flammküchen. One of the best I've eaten. Also alert service, even on King's Day, thanks to Bram! Enjoyed orancello sprtitz and the lovely terrace.

The staff is super young and inexperienced—please train them properly. We asked for food, and they didn’t bring cutlery, for example. The food took a really long time, and not everything came out together. It’s a nice place, maybe just for a drink and then leave, but definitely not for food. Also, it’s really expensive.

If you hire students or newbies, at least train them :) No cutlery with your food? Breaking the cork of a wine bottle, then just pushing the cork in the bottle pretending nothing happened ? Bringing stuff we didn’t order 3 times? Missing part of our actual order? If it were extremely busy, sure , but not even that. It’s like giving 12 year olds a place to run for the humor of it and see how they slowly create the chaos that will eventually destroy them. I’m sure all the staff will complain it’s too busy too hard and not enough people on the job.

Surely it's because I'm not used anymore to the traditional louzy service in "horeca" in the Netherlands, but food without anything to eat with (your fingers), no napkins and a 40 euros bottle of mediocre white wine planted in the sun to warm up? Iam a frequent customer of BK and it is a nice establishment. The only thing is you need to be lucky who is taking your order. This morning I walked away from a rude and inmature and unfriendly staff member. It was already obvious outside he was in a negative mood, but dont project that on the customer who only wants a cup of coffee. Dont ignore me and if you stay on your phone when I am talking to you Iam gone. If you can not stay friendly, look for another job. Very poor and insecure behavior from this guy. When I asked again for my coffee a female collegue replied to me if she just watched the teletubbies. You know...Oh oh. What was that for a strange reply? Well this place needs normal and social staff. Last year was a complete different vibe, hope it comes back and I can give 5 stars.

Bar Kantoor was altijd een leuke plek om te zitten met vriendelijk personeel waar wij veelvuldig kwamen totdat er een nieuw iemand is komen werken. Hij vertoont agressief, arrogant en onwenselijk gedrag. Er werd letterlijk gezegd: ik ga jullie niet bedienen, ik heb hier geen zin in! Niet alleen wij wisten niet wat ons overkwam, ook andere mensen aan andere tafels vonden zijn gedrag totaal niet kunnen! Toen wij vroegen wat er aan de hand was, flipte hij helemaal. Later bleek hij de manager te zijn... Wij komen hier nooit meer terug!

Terrible service. Aggressive and impolite manager. The food took over 1h30 to be served. They canceled one of the dishes without letting us know. After ordering everything again and once we were finished with the mains they started bringing starters that we never ordered. We’ve sent them back and then the manager came confronting us out of the blue. We were here on a Saturday between 14h to 15h.

I think the bar office is having an identity crisis... from 100% vegan (apparently too little turnover) to... yes, what actually. Suddenly meat on the menu, and vegan turns out to be more of an empty commercial mistake than a sincere choice. Unfortunately, the service has hidden itself. The atmosphere is on holiday and I think the "old" passion has completely disappeared... Last summer there were nice people in the service, but this coming summer I will skip the bar office...enough inspiration at other catering establishments in Westerpark. Sad that this beautiful place is going under due to passionless management.

The food is pretty good and the place is beautiful. The problem is the incredibly slow and hard to reach service. They're not per-se rude but it's quite some work to get them to serve you, which is tiring.

Previously, I was really pleased with Bar Kantoor and came here more often with children. I don't know what has changed lately, but the staff seems a lot less flexible/communicative towards guests? Previously I was waiting about +/- 30 minutes for service only to be told that there was no staff and therefore you could no longer order anything. Now waiting for service for a longer time, it turned out that you had to order inside. Perhaps it would be useful to indicate this outside? Again, crazy communication.

Usually a nice place to sit and have a drink on their terrace or coffee inside. But the server they have out is horrific and bad for business. I Stepped out of the queue to ask her a question and she just kept ignoring me. I was literally talking to her face to face. She then put her hand in my face, told me there's a line and proceeded to keep ignoring. My question was simple, but here reaction was unacceptable. Such a disgrace for a lovely place.

We entered the bar and waited a bit by the counter, we saw only people waiting to pay so assume there was table service and sat down. We were in plain sight of the waiter working behind the bar which continued to prepare drinks in a relaxed fashion sometimes glancing in our direction and ignoring us. Finally we saw another waitress that was serving drinks and waved to her to which she nodded. We waited perhaps fifteen more minutes and finally left. Passing said waitress and barmen I said that it would be nice to have some service next time to which they started replying that they were only serving people outside. They both saw that we needed service clearly and instead of coming by to at least tell us that we should order at the bar they chose to deliberately ignore us. Regardless of your instructions you can at least come to our table and inform us what we need to do to get service. Seeing us sitting there waving and deliberately ignoring us is not how you should treat patrons. We actually took a table where a couple had been which had drinks and there was another big group that had drinks and food so they just chose to deliberately ignore us for some reason.

Despite the nice facilities but our experience was completely ruined by the selective service of the staff. We waited for over 20 minutes, and even after making eye contact with the servers multiple times, they did absolutely nothing. In the end, we had no choice but to leave. The lack of basic professionalism was truly disappointing. Definitely a bad experience!

I had a really delicious meal here, the sandwich was perfect. The service was also very good, especially Bas was very friendly and attentive. So definitely recommended if you come from Westerpark and want something to eat.

Was waiting for 30 min for someone to take the order. Nobody came so we left.

Really nice and cozy place, comfortable chairs and friendly staff. Looks like they are a bit incomplete, because a lot tables stand empty and uncleaned for 15 minutes and longer. We used option to make an order through the qr-code, so it took more than 20 minutes to get gin tonic orange&cinnamon which was actually with no cinnamon. Quality of gin is poor, so not recommended.

Overall it is not a bad place for breakfast/brunch, the environment and the space is cozy and inviting, wish i could say the same about the staff who seem to not care about the customer and carry a “care-free” attitude. I could excuse the attitude if the establishment was kept up to standards. We came for food yesterday (we sat around 20:45-20:50) and expected to be able to eat since the kitchen “closes at 21:30” as mentioned in the website and the menu of the establishment. We were refused food with the excuse that “we are closing the kitchen at 21:00 since it is not busy” as well as the bar being closed about an hour before closing, leaving you with just a chair and a table and nothing to order On top of all of this bizarre and unexpected experience, as you can see in the video attached as well, there were mice roaming around the open kitchen while customers were still there and could obviously see this. Obviously mice are very common in amsterdam and after a certain point you can’t do something about them, but if you’re going to have an open kitchen, try not to have mice on display.

They charged me for something i didn’t order (honest mistake). When i asked for the refund, they told me it is not possible because they are a cash free place (?) I can give my name and phone and i might get contact by their finance department. 😂 da f. I am gonna come back next time and say i wont pay because i am cash free

The bar is tastefully decorated and impresses with fair prices. We paid around seven euros for a latte macchiato and a homemade iced tea - absolutely reasonable. The location in the middle of a beautiful park is a real highlight and creates a great ambience. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Recommended!

We visited this place for a team-building borrel, excited for good food and a relaxed evening. The flavors delivered—no complaints there—but the portions? Ridiculously small. The “cheese platter” resembled “cheese leftovers,” and the pricey “loaded fries” barely deserved the name. You can judge for yourself from the photos. Service was fine until the bill arrived. That’s when “Mustache waiter” added an unexpected charge for 11 minicakes without mentioning it. These were pastries arranged for a colleague’s birthday, which he kindly shared with the group. While charging for them is fair, not communicating the cost or explicitly acknowledging the extra cost is not. To make matters worse, the minicakes were billed for 11 people, though we were only 9.

In this beautiful chill spot, the service is very nice, but it can take a while if you are not in the loop. And the opening hours fluctuate quite a lot or do not correspond with Google Maps. We've had to drop out a few times already. Depending on the occupancy, turnover and the time you come (strictly separated offer per part of the day). Difficult! A big advantage are the (promised, and therefore alleged) 100% organic dishes. Another restaurant from the Conscious Hotel chain (Riot) had already been a success (see review there), but for the time being they have been given the benefit of the doubt. There could be a little more gluten and sugar-free on the dessert menu. Success!

I visited this place for a business meeting. It was quiet and empty for Monday evening. The food was delicious. I had crispy pork which came a few sides (see photo) but small portion for the price. We were served by Rocco who was calm, helpful and friendly. It is not a cheap place.

We took the “seasonal 'zero waste' soup” (pumpkin soup) and, considering how good it was, we did it again! It was worth trying (and trying again!)

I visited Bar Kantoor on September 7th, 2024. This was the worst service I’ve ever experienced in Amsterdam. My friends and I sat down, and it took over 20 minutes to even get a menu after we had to ask for one. After another 15 minutes of waiting, I had to go inside to get the menu myself. Despite being there for 35 minutes, no one came to take our order, so we had to walk up to the staff. When we finally ordered a bottle of wine, we were told it would be at least a 20-minute wait. For a bottle of wine, this seemed excessive. 20 minutes later, we were told the wine we ordered wasn’t available, so we picked another one. Another 10 minutes passed, and they returned to tell us the wine wasn’t cold. They asked if we wanted to drink it warm. Seriously? At this point, we just asked for any cold white wine that wouldn’t take another 20 minutes to arrive. After yet another wait, they finally brought it. The staff seemed kind and genuinely tried, but the place was so understaffed it completely ruined the experience. I wouldn’t recommend this bar. It was a frustrating and disappointing experience.

apple cake for 6€ barely the size of the palm, lacks taste, very much like average homemade. not something to recommend. but the service is friendly and the terrace is nice.

We waited fifty minutes before we got the menu. The food is overpriced and the cauliflower was completely burned. The waitress was unfriendly and ignored us most of the time. The restaurant is quite dirty and unhygienic.

Cappuccino besteld. Maar zonder lepeltje geserveerd, die waren volgens de medewerker op!? Ook was de cappuccino lauwwarm. Gevraagd om een warme cappuccino. Die kwam 2 minuten later in een loeiheet kopje: mijn lauwwarme koffie hadden ze in de magnetron verhit. Resultaat: bittere en zurige smaak. Jammer!

Super tasty food, nice staff and beautiful restaurant. Only they don't understand the meaning of “no cheese on my sandwich please”.

Good service and friendly staff. Food was tasty and lovely fresh drinks on a hot day. I just wish there were more options in the menu. There are also places available to work on a laptop, including electricity and free WiFi. However, it is not freely accessible. You can't get to the door by car.

Someone in their marketing team has done an incredible job as this was a clear choice for tourists to watch football if you searched online, however my advise is absolutely don't bother and look elsewhere. We turned up for the England game, as did a few other groups, and even though we had pre booked a table, we were seated outside in the Gail force winds and rain. The inside of the place was empty, the screens were on, and all tables and chairs were set up, yet we were told there was no feasible way for us to sit inside (we also made it clear that we would be leaving before the Netherlands game). The waitress came to take our order and told us there was only what was listed on their 'football' menu (which is incredibly limited) and only listed pitchers, the interaction was confusing and frosty. Eventually we found somewhere else to go, and before we left I did approach the male host and say that we are leaving because the service has been awful and we can't sit inside and his only reasoning was that 'it was his decision', the bar was EMPTY and his decision making is poor. I then asked whether it was because they didn't want England fans inside, the response was not satisfactory in anyway. The cherry on the cake is that a waitress was then being verbally abused by a dutchman who had wondered into the garden space, and there was little to no reaction from anyone in her team to defend her or make and effort to move the man off the property, in the end one of the customers did it for them. The only person in this business that had even sense of hospitality was the gentleman that brought the drinks to our table, welcoming and smiley. Management should possibly consider putting him in a role where he talks to customers more as everyone else failed miserably at this basic requirement.

During my walks, whether alone or with company, I sometimes stop by Bar Kantoor for my vitamin D juice. I went there again today and had lunch this time. I had a Croque Madame. It looked tasty, but it's an acquired taste. Had I known earlier that it had so much melted cheese, I would have chosen something else. I arrived around 12:45 PM and the terrace was already open. I sat on the bench, but I almost got blown away as there was quite a breeze. I must say I was served by a friendly young man. It's just a pity that he didn't know the difference between a Croque Monsieur and a Croque Madame. A small drawback for someone working in hospitality. Otherwise...

The food was very good, but the portions are very small. The music is a little too loud. Dogs are allowed.

A great bread and butter for starter really addressed our hunger. Amuse bouche with a nice arrangement but very low quantities of all the food in general. Combinations were strange and if it was not for the french fries with mayonnaise, we would have to dinner again arriving home. Great atmosphere and nice lights. Easy to access toilets and door. Nice waiters, very young, very stressed.

Lovely place but shockingly bad service, even for Amsterdam standards. Teenage staff who gets every drink in your order wrong, management that ignores you, and bar staff who refuses to make the cocktails from their own menu because “they want to finish on time” (aka in 4 hours). Really disappointing.

I went there to watch the first euro 2024 match and the service was terrible. Manager with quite an attitude and inexperienced staff who couldn’t be less bothered. Brought my orders wrong, waiters nowhere to be seen. Got the standard excuse of “it’s not possible” and “we are too busy” laced by the typical unfriendly tone. Thanks for nothing.

I had the pleasure of holding an informal friend meet-up in Bar Kantoor and it was just delightful. We had a lot of space for ourselves, the music and decorum is really nice, the staff friendly and attentive, and the food quirky and delicious. I totally recommend Bar Kantoor for 1-1 and group meet-ups.

The only terrace in the area where you wait again and again for service and leave disappointed after half an hour. Until last year it was fine. A real shame.

Typical example of bad service, uninterested man behind the bar, someone vacuuming between the tables at 11 o'clock when guests are seated and no follow-up of service after asking if we could also have breakfast... working in the catering industry would be should be fun but here all the fun is missing!

It is a welcoming place, accessible in the middle of the park and close to the light factory, (a fabulous experience also not to be missed) The staff is pleasant and available. Christopher
