Restaurant Plancius in Weesperbuurt/Plantage

Worst burger I've had in Amsterdam. Cold. From frozen, low quality beef.

In early December 2025, I went to lunch at Plancius with 10 women. Eight of the ten ordered the same dish: the grilled eggplant sandwich. I was one of these eight. The sandwich should have been served hot, but it arrived cold. But even worse, all eight of us became seriously ill afterward. The two people who ordered something else experienced no symptoms, proving that the eggplant sandwich was the source of severe food poisoning. The eight affected women were seriously ill for at least a week, and some longer. All eight of us sent an email to Plancius describing our experiences. We wanted a refund and compensation for all the misery and lost time during our illness. None of us received a response. This is how Plancius handles legitimate complaints, and that's how deeply ingrained their sense of responsibility is. Never again!

Friendly staff. Food was awful.

Fantastic restaurant where you can eat good meat, pasta, or broth… It's worth eating there.

Super good nachos with a double layer of cheese!

Came in and ordered two sodas and told the waiter we weren’t ready for food just yet. It’s been 30 minutes and the waiter still hasn’t come over. There’s four tables being used in the entire restaurant so it’s not like they’re busy. There’s also a resident cat which is cute, but not great for allergen guests. One table (of the four in use) had to go up to the bar and ask for the cat to be removed as it was sitting on their table. When paying our tab I asked why he didn’t come and take our food order. The waiter said we only wanted drinks. Even if that was the case, we finished our drinks within 10 minutes and should’ve been approached and offered another round. This venue clearly doesn’t care about making money or their guests.

We took advantage of the social deal. We received a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The food was delicious, and the cheesecake dessert is definitely recommended! There was also plenty of seating.

Best Burger ive ever had in my Life

This afternoon, I celebrated my birthday with my friends at High Tea. We had a fantastic afternoon: a delicious and abundant appetizer buffet (exquisite small sandwiches and a surprising, varied dessert), very attentive and friendly service, and plenty of space and tranquility to chat and relax. Fantastic!

Don't book the "High Wine"; they simply serve a platter of sausages and cheeses and let us choose "cheap" wines without any explanation. They're supposed to offer us a white, rosé, and red wine, which wasn't the case. It wasn't a real experience; it was truly rubbish... That said, it was really cheap.

Ficu beers are very warm and have a bitter taste.... I would never recommend it.

Vandaag 19 juli 2025 heb ik mijn schoonvader verrast met een bezoek aan de F1 exhibition gevolgd door een bezoek aan het Verzetsmuseum. Er moest natuurlijk ook gegeten worden en dat kon hier bij een zeer vriendelijke ondernemer. Een aanrader voor de snelle hap!

We stumbled across this place as we were walking back to our hotel. It's a nice location located right outside of the Zoo (artis). The patio was a good size and the waiter was inviting and friendly. It was our first day in Amsterdam.. we were hungry and tired so any food was good. I do think the food was fine, but nothing real memorable or distinctive. I did enjoy my chicken satay, but didn't really eat the chips and fries. Cocktails were nice. The kids enjoyed petying a local kitty who was sleeping in one of the chairs

Sono entrato per caso in questo posto, abbastanza anonimo, solo perché molto affamato. Ho ordinato un hamburger perché non trovavo molte alternative ma sono rimasto veramente sorpreso. Era delizioso. Tanto buono da tornarci due giorni dopo. Veramente buono e dire che l’hamburger non è uno dei miei piatti preferiti!

Joli petite brasserie à deux pas du zoo!!! Accueil atypique avec Lala la chatte gardienne des lieux!!!! Les burgers et les bagels sont à se relever la nuits, quantités très raisonnable et prix tout à fait corrects! Le service est très bienveillant et rapide!

Had a delicious meal here after a fun day at Artis. The carpaccio and the burger tasted very good and the mother's salmon was also delicious.

Went in the evening for dinner as staying locally. Was pretty quiet with approx 15 people in there, so no problem getting a table. Greeted on arrival by La La the friendly cat and local celebrity. Service friendly, attentive, and food was good. Generous portions of spare ribs and selection of very nice Belgian beers. It's definitely worth a visit.

Plancius está al lado del museo de la Resistencia en la zona Plantage de Amsterdam. Está a poco más de una milla a pie de la estación Centraal. Vine aquí a almorzar un miércoles por la tarde después de visitar el museo de la Resistencia. El menú del almuerzo era bastante limitado, con solo sándwiches, hamburguesas y algunos otros artículos en oferta (el menú de la cena tampoco era demasiado extenso). Opté por sopa de tomate con pan y un vaso de cerveza rubia. La sopa estaba muy bien servido con queso parmesano y la cerveza decente también. El coste fue de poco más de 13 € y el servicio era bueno también.

Had a delicious dinner here with a group of 16 people. Served promptly. Everyone at the same time. All different dishes. How do they do that? Nice. Very friendly. The owner himself served, which I think was very nice. The food was very tasty. I had salad, vegetarian ravioli and cheesecake. Others had steak, spare ribs, pizza, hamburger, pasta with salmon. There is a lot of choice! We had a great evening. Also a sweet surprise with dessert, because it was my birthday. Thank you!

If you are in a group and someone wants to go to the Resistance Museum but you don't feel like going in... Don't worry! You can wait outside drinking a few beers at this bar. It's a March morning and I'm tanning in the sun, I hope the others come out soon otherwise I'll get drunk here. SINGLE NOTE! You could have brought me 2 chips or a bowl of peanuts though 😅

Cozy little restaurant, we had a delicious lunch here. My mother chose the bagel with salmon and I chose the soup of the day, both very tasty. Service was friendly! A downside is that the toilets are down a fairly steep staircase. This means that you have to take this into account for people who have difficulty walking.

February 2025: Delicious food; penne with salmon, chicken satay with fries & salad and salmon steak with fries & salad. Elias is a very nice host! Always cheerful, friendly and helpful. It was a bit chilly in there. See you next month! 😉 Nice meal. Pan of mussels with fries, lettuce and sauces. Too bad the mussels were very salty. The extraction in the shop also needs attention. The case was "blue" from the baking smell and clothes can go straight into the laundry basket. Service smooth and very friendly.

Desventajas: El bistec no estaba cocinado correctamente y en realidad crudo. La salsa de pimienta provenía de algún lugar preparado y no se hacía en casa, la mantequilla de pan se calentaba en el microondas y no se molestaban en eliminar el desagradable líquido oleoso que esto produce.

Ideal location for lunch after visiting the zoo. We had some very nice spare ribs and a delicious homemade pizza. Unfortunately the draft lager was off. Theres a beautiful restaurant owned cat which patrols the patio at the front. You can also enter this restaurant though the WW2 Museum next door

What happened to Plancius? New owner or something? We were the only ones. Also understand why. Terrible inappropriate Dutch music. (Corry and the rekels genre) really not okay. In the corner (owner?) was sleeping on the couch. The waiter (a cheerful guy by the way) was already busy cleaning (6:15 p.m.) and we were not asked if we wanted or needed anything. Small portion of overpriced spareribs, no plate for bones or cloth for your hands. I can take a shower after burning frying smells. Tent was blue. Sad to say, because the waiter did his best, but this was really a big let down for the money. I think lunch will be ok.

Wat is er met Plancius gebeurd??Nieuwe eigenaar ofzo? We waren de enigen. Snap ook waarom. Vreselijke ongepaste Nederlandse muziek. (Corry en de regels genre) echt niet ok. In de hoek zat (eigenaar?) Te slapen op de bank. Ober (overigens vrolijke vent) was al druk aan het schoonmaken (18.15 uur) en verder werd er niet gevraagd of we nog iets wilden of nodig hadden. Kleine portie veel te dure spareribs, geen bordje voor botjes of doekje voor je handen. Ik kan douchen na verbrande frituurlucht. Tent stond blauw. Lullig om te zeggen, want ober deed zijn best, maar dit was echt een grote afknapper voor dat geld. Ik denk voor lunch wel ok.

Stopped for lunch after visiting the zoo. Polite service, reasonably priced. Had a steak that was very good (cooked exactly as requested) and some ribs, with a nice marinade. Nothing fancy but it was definitely nice!

Great brasserie with delicious satay! Bartender is very friendly. What is striking is the passion for Davina Michelle. I listened all evening to two of her songs that were on repeat non-stop. Too bad if you don't like the song.

Simple lunch menu, not very surprising, excellent service, somewhat run-down atmosphere, could use a lick of paint. Glass of wine was well filled!

Stopped in for lunch. Enjoyed the outdoor patio. The smoked salmon bagel was perfect. The beef carpaccio sandwich was equally as good.

Very friendly and very good food except that the service is very slow 15 minutes for our order to be taken, 40 minutes for the entree and another 30 minutes after the entree for the main course

A nice venue next to the Verzets Museum although a bit pricey and let down by staffing. On a busy Friday night when the restaurant was almost full, there was only one member of staff front-of-house who was rushed off his feet covering the bar and waiting on tables. There was one hed in the kitchen who was also managing orders for delivery as well. We had one drink and went elsewhere.

The only positive point is the service. The meal goes your way… the taste is not there and it is extremely expensive for the quality of the meal…

Na een dagje Artis gaan we aan de overkant bij restaurant Plancius naar binnen. Het hele buiten terras zit al vol met een grote groep mensen voor de Domibo die later binnen komen voor het diner. Wij nemen een drie gangen diner. Heerlijke salade vooraf best groot met stukjes spek en knapperig brood erin. Samen de mixed grill en dat was een heerlijke combinatie erg smakelijk! Patatjes en salade erbij. Een puntje chocolade taat bij de koffie en Martin had appeltaart. Het was een heerlijk menu en aardige bediening. Een aanrader!

We stumbled across this place looking for a nice place for dinner on our last night in Amsterdam. What a fabulous restaurant! Service was fantastic and every plate that each person had was delicious! Highly recommend stopping in for lunch or dinner.

The mixed grill is incredible, the meats are very well cooked. The servers are warm and welcoming. To recommend !

We stopped by chance. Terrible mistake. Nothing to do with a restaurant. No dish is correct (MIX GRIĹ, PANCAKE and special mention to the Caesar salad). We understood why it was not very busy.

Nowadays a tourist tent. Mediocre quality. The Caesar salad was a low point.

Booked high wine as a gift for a friend. It was nice to sit with a nice platter of snacks. But only the country they came from was told about the wines, nothing else, not even the name. And I even had to ask for that. That's just called drinking and not High Wine. Presumably also just the house wines. I wanted a really high wine so I'm disappointed with this, so don't sell High Wine.

L'endroit est très sympa, le service très agréable, mais le repas n'était pas génial. Le burger n'avait de bon que la viande, le reste était fade et les frites industrielles avaient la même saveur qu'au macdo. Mais je remercie la serveuse qui fut très sympathique et serviable.

A while ago we had dinner at this restaurant with a friend via Social Deal. What struck me was that it was super quiet, but we were immediately welcomed by the owner. He was incredibly friendly. Good, well-filled glasses of wine. Our food was served promptly. Tasty carpaccio and the mixed grill and red velvet cake were also delicious. And that for a small price. We will definitely come back!

Best Spareribs I have ever had! The portions are large and the fries served on the side are crispy and really good as well! I will definitely return here and I can wholeheartedly recommend this place.

Heerlijk gegeten, geluncht met vriend na het bezoeken van het Verzet museum. Vriendelijke vrouw die ons serveerde. Ik had twee kroketten op een brood… yummy 😋😋. 25€ voor twee personen vind ik helemaal top.

The service was good but the nachos were really not up to standard. Certainly expected much better for €12.50.

Just what I wanted, a pleasant place to sit outside and relax whilst the family were doing even more walking around the museum next door. I didn’t have any food so cannot comment on that.

Ein Restaurant mit eigentlich schönem Ambiente und freundlichem (wenn auch sehr vergesslichem) Personal. Die interessanten Biere sind sehr gut. Leider ist sämtliches Essen jedoch eine Katastrophe, teilweise ungenießbar und wie aus einer schlechten Kantine. Am besten also vorbei gehen und ein anderes Restaurant suchen - es gibt genügend in der Gegend.
