We visited Basalt three times within a week: At lunchtime for coffee and cake (apple cake with slagroom) Dinner for two Dinner with family (5 people) Everything at Basalt is just perfect, from the decor to the very friendly, professional service to the outstanding cuisine! We're already looking forward to our next visit in April 2026!

My wife, our child, and I recently spent a week on vacation in beautiful Den Oever, and we visited Basalt four times (!!) during that time because we loved it so much! All the dishes (and we sampled the entire menu once) were freshly prepared, using high-quality ingredients. Everything was also visually appealing. The portion sizes were above average, and the prices were moderate and truly very fair (compared to nearby restaurants and especially to similar restaurants in Germany!). We never had to wait long for our food, and we visited for lunch and dinner, both on weekends and during the week. Although the evenings were always busy, we always got a table (probably with a bit of luck) – even without a reservation. Therefore, if in doubt, it's always best to call ahead, especially for larger groups. Furthermore, the service staff was extremely friendly, warm, experienced and professional, attentive, and never made a single mistake. However, you should speak a little English to be understood. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained, as was the entire restaurant in general. From the terrace, weather permitting, you have a beautiful view of the water, the ships, and the harbor. For two appetizers, two main courses, and various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, plus a generous tip :-), you almost always end up spending under 100 euros. And even the little ones are catered for, with kids' meals and a small play area with lots of fun toys! :-) If you're nearby, Basalt is definitely worth a visit, whether for lunch or dinner, inside or outside, meat or fish makes no difference! We're very happy and grateful to have found it (also here on Google because of the good reviews!); it really enriched our vacation! =)

The average price is 20/30, but that doesn't include fries, salad, or anything else, just meat or fish. So, 30/40 is essentially the average price.

We had 3 kinds of fish dishes . They are fresh, soft and tasty. We ordered smoothies as drinks. All are with excellent taste.

It's a real shame that it's the only one open on Mondays, and dogs aren't welcome on the terrace. It's okay to do that indoors, but on the terrace... there were even two terraces. Why not one for dogs and one for dogs?

It's so nice to stop here on the way home. Beautiful view, friendly staff, and of course, the food is delicious.

Great terrace with harbor view and great service

Well, what can I say? We were only there for a quick stopover, and there wasn't enough time for anything else. The atmosphere here was definitely good. I really liked the ambiance. The view of the sea was beautiful. I would love to go back again. I really enjoyed it.

The bread board as a starter was very tasty and the fish varia as a main course was delicious, really recommended, we will definitely eat there more often.

Four of us went to the restaurant for dinner. Since we had already made a reservation in the afternoon, we got the window seat we requested, overlooking the harbor. We had meat and fish dishes. Side dishes must be ordered separately. The food was absolutely delicious. Among other things, we had the fish platter for two. I would have preferred a sauce or remoulade to go with it. The peppercorn sauce with the steak was phenomenal. The service was also attentive, prompt, and friendly. Oh, and the mustard soup deserves a mention! You should definitely try it. It's a poem!

The cozy restaurant offers a variety of food choices. We stopped here for dinner on our BENELUX trip. The only restaurant in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation that is open after 8:00 PM.

We wanted to have a nice meal while on vacation. Unfortunately, our dog wasn't welcome, not even on the terrace. So we canceled the reservation and looked for another restaurant. I think dogs should at least be allowed on the terrace.

A wonderful Seaside restaurant where we enjoyed fresh clams and oysters, caught straight out of the sea. Their assortment of fish is prepared expertly, and the taste is great. For the children there are also fries and local (fried) delights or nuggets.

A lovely lunch stop with a friend in Den Oever. I had a large fish salad, which comes with smoked salmon, smoked eel, dutch shrimps and tuna. I had never tried eel or dutch shrimp before, and they were amazing! Fresh food with great service and atmosphere - highly recommend.

Saturday 14 June with a group of 9 people sat on the terrace in the afternoon. After the Seal Tour we dined inside in the evening. The service was hospitable and friendly. The food was excellent. In short, a great restaurant, nice service and excellent food.

The restaurant is located right in the harbor. We were able to enjoy the outdoor terrace in the perfect weather. We were absolutely thrilled with the food. The noise from the machines working in the harbor was a bit annoying, but understandable. So what, it was still nice, and it would have been quieter inside. The service was friendly but a bit curt. They didn't notice when my drink was empty. I'm used to being asked if I'd like anything else in those cases. But maybe that's Dutch reserve 😉 and I don't consider it a serious disadvantage.

How incredibly nice! to be able to sit without dirty or loud dogs.. a restaurant is simply not a place for Pets. The food is well prepared but not special also very few vegetables.. the service very friendly and fast. Toilets were perfectly clean.

I wouldn't know, we came by bike with the dog. Wanted to sit on the terrace. It is above a prohibition sign for dogs. I noticed that it also applies on the terrace, so I turned around. Never before has my dog ​​not been welcome on the terrace.

If you want to know how high quality craftsmanship and a warm, good-mood atmosphere celebrate the marriage on the palate, you have to stop by here. A cozy restaurant on the harbour. A nice, quiet atmosphere with excellent service. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch; fish quartet, lobster croquette sandwich and flammkuchen. All equally tasty and value for money. This was the second time I had lunch here, both times equally enthusiastic.

Fresh oysters from the mudflats, delicious. The cress is not such a good idea. If you eat that, you will no longer taste the delicious oysters. Don't do it again.

Right on the harbor, lots of choice, parking spaces right next to it, ramp for wheelchair users: what more could you want.

Had lunch with a reasonable group of people. Good and fast service. People were regularly asked if anyone wanted something to drink. Food was served to everyone at the same time, really great. In terms of atmosphere, I think it could be a little better, I thought it was quite dark now. Also highly recommended.

Nice restaurant. On the harbour, thank goodness the meat dishes are very tasty. I don't like fish, so I don't have high expectations for the meat dishes, but they are prepared with care. Spareribs were surprisingly tasty. Friendly, nice service, I feel great there.

Tja, wat over dit restaurant te zeggen: laat je niet misleiden door de ‘R’ op het dak: dit is zeker niet een standaard wegrestaurant (los van de locatie waardoor het sowieso geen wegrestaurant is, maar zo’n ‘R’ op het dak geeft mij altijd zo’n soort vibe). Zeker de omweg waard, heerlijke verse vis, zeer vriendelijke bediening, helemaal top!

Unfortunately the cod was not as expected. Water on plate…. Looked like it wasn't defrosted properly from the freezer. Waitress would pass it on to the cook. Didn't come with an answer. Too bad because we often had a delicious meal here in the past. And now I have come from Amsterdam in vain to eat delicious fish in the harbor again.

Das Essen war sehr gut. Der Service ließ vom Betreten bis zur Begleichung der Rechnung vieles zu wünschen übrig. Der Gipfel war bei der Bestellung von Tong Slips die Antwort auf die Frage " was gibt es dazu " Antwort " N I X ". Bei dem Service des Fisch habe ich nach dem Teller für die Gräten gefragt. Antwort " der älteren Dame: ich habe nur zwei Hände". Na denn! Ich habe das Gefühl gehabt das deutsche Gäste nicht willkommen sind.
