Restaurant Belvedère Gouda in Binnenstad

Poor service. We never go there, but we had a dinner voucher with no idea if it was still valid. So we checked with the staff first, and sure enough, it was still valid, with €100 left on it. When we paid, the voucher turned out to be invalid, and they said, "You can't blame us for the mistake." No apology, no compensation. I'm a business owner myself, and I would handle this differently. Definitely not going back.

I liked the place. It was crowded, but we found a place. The waiters were friendly, responded quickly to requests, and were polite. The order was served in 10 minutes. Everything tasted good. I ordered cheese soup and a burger for myself. It was too much to eat all by myself. Overall, I was satisfied with the place.

We had a wonderful meal on the terrace with heated cushions. Very friendly, efficient, and attentive service. Main course: steak and salad with goat cheese, dessert: dame blanche and coffee—everything was delicious.

What a great place! It's a regular weekend stop for me. I live nearby, so every Saturday morning I'm the first one at the Gouda market for a delicious cappuccino and apple juice for my daughters. Always good, fast, and friendly service. And unfortunately, that's no longer a given. Great place. Keep up the good work!

On several visits, the staff has directly asked my young children what they want to drink, instead of asking us as parents. We don't let our children order unhealthy drinks, and it feels like the staff is deliberately trying to get children to order something to increase the bill. This hasn't happened once, but repeatedly, so it seems to be part of their procedures or training. I find this disrespectful and inappropriate towards parents. A restaurant should respect customers' boundaries and not target children to generate extra revenue. I hope the management takes this seriously, because for families who expect professional and customer-friendly service, this is absolutely not a pleasant experience.

Enjoyed a delicious lunch under a heated patio with heated chairs. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is reasonably priced.

We had dinner on the terrace. The seating was heated which was nice. The stuff was helpful. The atmosphere was lacking since we could barely hear each other talking (Saturday street cleaning). The food was extremely disappointing, the burger I was served was microwaved. I do not recommend this place if they cannot serve a simple tasty burger.

A very cozy restaurant, perfect for lunch or just a cup of coffee on the terrace this October. Wonderful, friendly staff. Beautifully renovated, patio heaters, and lovely heated cushions. It's a pleasure to sit there with a hernia. We love coming here. It would be perfect if there were no smokers.

My sister and I stopped by for a drink and a bitterbal. We ordered vegetarian bitterballen and really enjoyed them, so we wanted to double-check to make sure they were vegetarian. The staff was super friendly and didn't mind double-checking. The chef even came by to show us what the bitterbal was made of. It was so sweet and hospitable. +10 for the service!!

The food already tastes great, but after the renovation, the atmosphere is even better! Everything looks neat and new, so I had a wonderful meal. The staff is also friendly and enthusiastic, which creates a great energy.

Good atmosphere and good food. Not cheap for what you get. The satay could be more elaborate for that price. Update 23-08-2025 I had a lovely meal here with my wife. The food is good, but the price-quality ratio is off. The satay was bland, no salad. This was definitely the last time. €22 is way over the limit for satay, despite the pork tenderloin. And the food was bland. Soup too expensive, Dame Blanche too expensive. By the way, I didn't have dessert but had ice cream behind Hema, which was good and less expensive.

This restaurant in summer is absolutely perfect. The staff is very attentive, kind and helpful, without being pushy. The ambience is very cosy and nice. The toilets are clean and pretty. And the food is... Just so good! 10/10 would recommend! Bonus: the neighbourhood cat strolled in and jumped into our laps 😍

Take a seat on a terrace: it's a great place to do so. Delicious drinks, excellent service, and the atmosphere of the historic city: a view over the square with the beautiful town hall.

Last Sunday, after a bike ride, we sat down on the terrace for lunch. What a wonderful, hospitable experience! The service was fast (despite the terrace being full), efficient, attentive, and friendly. The food exceeded our expectations, and the price-quality ratio was excellent! Great place to grab a drink on a terrace.

A short break during our visit to this beautiful city. We received a wonderful welcome, the best of our entire stay! We were able to get a menu in French and even a few phrases in French :) The food was very good, the toilets were spotless despite a large number of customers. The interior is also very warm! Don't hesitate :)

I stopped off here for a break while sightseeing in Gouda. I guess this is the case in the Netherlands, but when I ordered an iced coffee, all they had was something like a coffee shake, which was delicious. The townscape was beautiful, and I was able to relax while drinking my coffee.

A great place to have a drink, and it's usually not too crowded! They have heated seats and heat lamps for the winter. The nachos are highly recommended! Unfortunately, they don't have the loaded fries; they're literally fries with shawarma, onion, and a small swirl of sauce :(

Restaurant Belvedere has the best cappuccino! 🫶🏻

I had it for lunch. It was a croquette sandwich. I spread butter and mustard on the bread, open the croquette, crush it, put it between the bread and eat it. It's a style that doesn't exist in Japan and it's very interesting. The staff at the restaurant are very friendly. It was delicious 🤩🤩🤩

Been here several times and usually had a good lunch. The last time was a miss. The little ball Belvedère turned out to be a hard factory bouncy ball. A little gravy, some onions and two sandwiches and that was it. Not really the dish to hang your name on and to connect the expectation of a specialty to. Don't start.

The Belvedere is right on the market, we had breakfast there, but there is no classic breakfast, but what we got was very tasty, the coffee was really good. The employees were always there and super friendly. When we are back in Gauda we will definitely come back.

We had a very nice first evening in Gouda. We came as tourists from Germany and as we saw the restaurant we thought, why not go in? Well it was a good idea. The service was extremely friendly, providing us with German- Menus and trying their best to translate. All in all the Staff was really friendly. The Ambiente was also nice, at least outside. I didn’t check the inside though. Outside you sit nicely and with a good view of the town plaza. Finally the food was really good. It was presented well and tasted good. I definitely recommend going to this restaurant.

Very nice service. Sunny gardens worked great on an April afternoon. As for food, being in the capital of cheese, I wanted to eat something with cheese and not another hamburger, fries or other meat in sauce. I ordered a de lux bagel with old gouda cheese. It's a bit hard to compare it because it was the first time I ate in a restaurant for the so-called lunch sandwich :). As for a sandwich, it was amazing, the bread was delicious and crispy, the cheese was very good, and the toppings and sauce matched well. I recommend. And their coffee is also very good.

Generous and well-prepared lunch, spicy chicken with 2 brown slices of bread, 2 white slices of bread with tuna salad. Delicious fries with it. Ate way too much, but tasted very good.

It's a lovely Gauda cafe with delicious breakfast options. We had a Sunday breakfast around 11:30 which other cafes refused to give. The serving lady was very polite and the farmers omlette with additional gauda cheese were very delicious!

Immediately noticed upon entering and given a table. Dog was allowed inside. Gluten-free bread available, service knew about it. Smooth and friendly service. Lunch also very tasty!

If you order cheese fondue here, you just get the cheese soup! (it's also on the menu, and yes, we've eaten it before, and it looks and tastes exactly the same). Really bad and also a scam, because you pay €21.95 per person for this 'cheese fondue'. And it was also incredibly watery. The second star was given purely because the wait staff was friendly.

Our go to place for a weekly coffee break. But also our absolute favorite restaurant. The dishes are well prepared and very tasty. The menu has something for everyone and the service is so friendly and experienced. Don't hesitate. This is where you need to be!

‘Kaasplank’ is 1 singular slice of cheese with a massive hole cut out in the middle with mediocre quality cheese. Also waited for it for 1 hour. Don’t worth your money, I recommend to choose another place in town.

A bit of a disappointment regarding the children's pancake... 3 berries, 1 banana and a small pancake, I think that's not much for 8 euros. The 'special' coffee was also a dollop of whipped cream with some chunks of fudge on top. Very good waitresses. My daughter said I won't go here next time. The colors were disappointing 😂

When it is busy they can serve food immediately, but you only get the drink once you have finished eating... too busy making coffee because they can only make 4 cups at a time... everything is nice and nice but we had 2 soft drinks?? Is that really not possible and does it have to be closed at the back?

The food was incredibly good. I had the Lunch Special, it was perfect, filling yet light, the soup was superb, the egg salad was different than what I am used to in Canada in so many good ways.

We ended up at this place by chance with 5 people. We were given a place in the conservatory. The staff was very friendly and the food and drinks were delivered quite quickly. It sometimes took a while before someone walked past again. The food tasted good and for an average eater it was sufficient. (Not large portions)

Excellent food for a good price.

Nice meal. And which we really liked. The terrace was divided into 2 parts. For smokers and non-smokers. So finally eating on the terrace without being in someone else's smoke. An example for many restaurants.
