Bizarre that such a business on the water was closed on Thursdays during the holiday season!

We passed by here on a Sunday afternoon and thought, the weather is lovely, we'll have a drink on the terrace. We were very surprised that a teenager came to us with the announcement that we could not drink anything on the terrace due to not enough staff. In response to your comment: this is about Sunday, May 4, so not Mother's Day...

Delicious lunch on the terrace. The "Brienenbollen" were very good, tasty bread with fresh Livar and fresh salmon despite the crowds at that time. The service was a bit relaxed considering the crowds, but it seemed very pleasant. Recommended!

Was there by chance with a friend. We were very satisfied. We were helped with the menu because we don't speak Dutch. Everything problem-free. Great location, we'll go there again.

Cycled all day and then found this jewel on the Maas. After 40km cycling the beer was soooo tasty. Nice view too.

Price now reduced. No more Michelin restaurant, But a terrace and cafe for everyone!

I've been there three times now and I personally think it's perfect. The dishes may seem underseasoned to some, but in my eyes they are pure and perfect as they come to the table. There's not a lot of trickery involved, you get pure and great craftsmanship. The service was always exceptional. Friendly, highly competent but also relaxed. It is a 1 star restaurant and that is lived in the best possible way. Every dish can sing and pray, as the saying goes, and you still don't have to wear a suit to enjoy it. The prices are also absolutely reasonable for what you get and I am sure that you will be telling your friends about the food and service for a long time to come.

Top restaurant, with Rene Brienen as chef. Very informal and great food. We've been there a few times and the quality is consistent. Highly recommended!

Restaurant and great terrace only open for lunch and dinner guests. So only for people with a big wallet. Shame.

Very inhospitable people are not greeted

We weren't happy today. The menu was technically good, but when the whole thing drags on for more than 4.5 hours because there are forever long waiting times between courses and then you also have to wait 20 minutes for the bill, I'm just annoyed in the end. It took an extremely long time until the used dishes were cleared away after the main course - the table was not cleared of bread crumbs etc. even before dessert - no star level. 3 months ago there were great Friandises after a 6-course lunch - this evening after a 6-course menu a small, inconsequential Madeleine-like something with coffee. We have never experienced anything like this in a star restaurant. The boring and not optimally chilled house aperitif was served in the cheapest 0.1 champagne glass, the wine selection is poor for a star restaurant and I also think it is questionable whether you have to pay 7 times the price for a bottle of Pinot Blanc. The long waiting times were explained by a staff shortage, which I cannot accept given the price level. An apology along the lines of "we invited you for coffee" would have been normal in many star hotels, but was also not available here. Conclusion: we won't go there anymore.

I have now been there for the second time and can only recommend that someone get an impression of it for themselves. You are welcomed very nicely and are happy to accommodate special requests. The food is very good and the portions are so large that you are really full at the end of the 6 courses. I also find the menu price very reasonable for a restaurant with a Michelin star. So a thumbs up 👍

Delicious dining with a view of the Maas. Everything was taken care of!

Had a lovely birthday dinner here. Surprise little gem so close to home. The chef cooked up a great vegetarian feast for us and Angelique and her attentive team made sure we were very well taken care of. The staff, food, wine pairing, ambience, service, location- everything deserves a 5 star. We will definitely go back.

Enjoyed a six course lunch. Now it was said at the table that six courses for lunch is a lot. With the current portions it is too much for dinner or lunch. But if this is known, it may be a reason to adjust the portions. I personally thought it would be a shame to indicate that the rest could really be a bit smaller. And then we are really used to Michelin level. If that is adjusted, it will be a great place, on the Maas!

Brienen aan de Maas, a place along the Maas, in the restaurant with a beautiful view over the Maas. Opted for a 6 course lunch with a few glasses of wine because we still had to drive the car back... It was very quiet for a restaurant with a star. The portions were gigantic and could have been at least half smaller. Every course had asparagus, grilled, smoked, on the BBQ, fried, you name it, and even with asparagus dessert and ice cream... A friendly man at the counter helped us nicely and the kitchen staff also made their rounds with the salmon served at the table and even the dry ice could not be taken off the menu. What used to be so enchanting was now just fine. Unfortunately not a challenge and not worth a star for us. People were working and drilling outside and I don't think that is possible at this level, the windows were dirty and the windowsill was full of dust. Shame. The food was very good, but with 6 courses the portions were far too large. Service was good, friendly man and knowledge and the students from the kitchen were also present. Atmosphere looks a bit old-fashioned, not clean and at this level the chef/owner could have been on the floor a bit more. 3 tables for lunch should certainly have worked.

The six of us had a wonderful evening out at Brienen. We came on the recommendation of our daughter who was here 2 weeks ago with the grandchildren. They were so enthusiastic that the grandchildren said they wanted to celebrate their birthday party here. Our curiosity was aroused. Everything was perfect. The food, the wine, the service and the atmosphere with a view of the Maas. In short: recommended.

Beautiful location with terrace and view of the Maas. Quality service, the staff and the owners do more than their best for an optimal experience. The menus and accompanying wines are decorated decoratively, with each dish offering a variety of flavors. This was accompanied by a suitable wine and a nice explanation of the dish.

Fantastic meal! All flavors matched perfectly. The products were fresh and the seasonal product was reflected in every dish. Staff were very friendly. Highly recommended to dine here.

We were there for lunch as part of @restaurantweek.nl. An excellent 6-course Michelin menu was served, which included several variations of asparagus due to the current asparagus season. All dishes were perfectly prepared and of excellent quality. The very warm service was also convincing. The location with a terrace right on the river can't be beat anyway. Really made us want more, we'd love to come back. Thank you.

I recommend a visit to this hospitable family business. Gladly. Here the patron of the kitchen knows how to put together and prepare harmonious dishes with an expert hand. Everything was very harmonious and the cooking points were top notch, fresh ingredients, well prepared and presented. Plus a pleasantly calm, attentive service, with knowledgeable wine recommendations. Top. Nice view of the Meuse. A few pictures convey my surprise menu and what a successful evening it was. Michelin star restaurant with original flavours in interesting combinations, good choice of wine. Choice of menu is virtually nil. Portions are too small. 1 vegetarian dish on the menu. Waiting time between courses too long. Complacent service.

Fine, but nothing was 'wow'. I wouldn't think this is a Michelin star restaurant. Wine, food and service, friendly but with little knowledge, all fine and well-intentioned but barely 4 stars. We ate a la carte and not via Social Deal, I find it difficult that the restaurant chooses Social Deal. I would like to pay a fair price, but now the price-quality ratio was not quite right.

The food was delicious, the service attentive and the personal farewell by the chef was much appreciated. Yet this establishment lacks the appearance and attention you expect from a Michelin star restaurant. There were too few staff, something that is easy to imagine, but you did notice this. Was it all insurmountable? No, but it is something you take into account in an assessment

The food was great, tasty, surprising and really delicious! Friendly staff and they take into account any things you may not eat or like. Surprise menu was a really pleasant surprise!

Our trip to Brienen started with a bus trip from Venlo. As the road was under construction in Well, the nearest bus stop was a 20 minute walk away. After taking a walk, we were surprised at Brienen with a delicious dinner and good wine. We asked if a taxi could be ordered, but according to our host this was not possible in Well. Instead, the owner offered to take us to the bus stop. Armed with a delicious chocolate lollipop and a handshake from the chef, she drove us to the bus stop. All in all; We had a delicious meal, a fantastic evening and, in our opinion, the service deserves extra praise. Thank you! Love, Jannemiek & Tonnie
