Restaurant Buitenzorg in Ede-West

Upon arrival, we immediately thought: what a beautiful location! We received a friendly welcome and started the evening on a positive note. We were quickly given drinks, the menu, and a bread board. Because we only had an hour and a half for the starter and main course, we asked if this was feasible. This was confirmed. Shortly after ordering, the chef arrived at the table: two of the four dishes we chose were unavailable. A shame, but okay. We replaced one dish with something else from the menu, and for the other, the chef suggested creating something new—fine. After a good 30 minutes, the starters arrived. Due to the time constraints, we immediately asked if the main courses could be served immediately afterward. I had the steak tartare: well-balanced in terms of taste and price, and generously served. My partner had a vegetarian goat cheese salad, which was very disappointing: mainly lettuce with a few pieces of tomato and goat cheese, lacking inspiration, and absolutely not worth the price. Especially compared to the generous steak tartare, which cost the same. The chef politely apologized. Because my partner had barely eaten anything, we asked if the dish could be taken off the bill—in the end, we were given two drinks on the house. The main courses didn't arrive for another 40 minutes. Once again, the difference in portions for the same price was immediately noticeable. My partner had the pea burger, I had the osso buco. The osso buco was ample in quantity, but it wasn't osso buco at all: it was lamb shank with two oven-baked tomatoes in a regular jus, undercooked baby potatoes, and overcooked vegetable garnish. The burger was even more disappointing: very fatty, browned to black, very crispy on the outside, and mealy on the inside. The fries, which were listed on the menu, turned out to be missing. During the entire evening, no one came by to ask if everything was to our liking. We were practically alone and felt a bit lost. When we saw the €100 bill, we were shocked. It was completely disproportionate to what we had received. We indicated that we didn't want to pay this amount. The chef came back and removed one starter and one main course from the bill. This felt like a reasonable compromise, but we still found the price-quality ratio very poor. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The location and atmosphere are beautiful, but the price, taste, portions, and service were completely out of balance. A shame, because the potential is definitely there.

We were here for a party with live music. The atmosphere was fantastic, thanks in part to the building's decor and history.

We arrived in the evening, a bit late (8:30 PM). However, after waiting eight minutes, we left again. No one came to greet us or take orders.

We zaten alleen in een leeg restaurant. Toch nog erg lang wachten op eten en drinken. Serveerster was erg aardig maar wist niet alles. Heel veel niet mogelijk om te bestellen. Tartaar met gepocheerd ei, maar gepocheerd ei. Vroeg of de zalm een hoofdgerecht was, waarop positief gereageerd werd. Bleek echter 3 stokbroodjes te zijn met zalm. Partner had een gerecht wat niet helemaal warm was. Helaas vergane glorie. Misschien goed om het restaurant te sluiten en alleen nog maar te richten op het andere gedeelte van de locatie (zaalverhuur). Jammer. Had er meer van verwacht.

**Buitenzorg - a dinner without care and attention** A disappointing experience. From the start, there was a lack of care: an uncleaned outdoor table, a handwritten menu with no prices or explanation. The starter and main course were both subpar in quality and quantity. The main course, "The Catch Fish," turned out to be nothing more than two simple fish sticks, and the "Risotto" tasted like rice porridge. Few vegetables, a tasteless tablespoon of mashed potatoes, and a starter that wasn't much better: a shot glass of asparagus soup, a slice of carpaccio, three pieces of baguette, and three shrimp. On top of that, we had to wait a full 60 minutes between the starter and the main course, all for a paltry meal totaling €90. In these expensive times, it's important to get value for your money. So, if you really want a good meal, you'd better find another place.

**Buitenzorg - een diner zonder zorg en aandacht** Een teleurstellende ervaring. Vanaf het begin ontbrak het aan zorgzaamheid: een niet schoongemaakte buitentafel, een menukaart met handgeschreven tekst zonder prijzen of uitleg. Het voorgerecht en hoofdgerecht waren zowel qua kwaliteit als kwantiteit ondermaats. Het hoofdgerecht, ‘The Catch Fish’, bleek niet meer dan twee simpele fish sticks te zijn, en de ‘Risotto’ smaakte als rijstebrijpap. Weinig groenten, een smakeloze eetlepel puree, en een voorgerecht dat niet veel beter was: een borrelglaasje aspergesoep, een plakje carpaccio, drie stukjes stokbrood en drie garnalen. Daarbovenop moesten we maar liefst 60 minuten wachten tussen het voorgerecht en hoofdgerecht, en dat voor een schamele maaltijd van in totaal €90. In deze dure tijden is het belangrijk om waar voor je geld te krijgen. Zoek daarom liever een ander adres als je écht lekker wilt eten.

Enjoyed a well-organized brunch on Easter Sunday, lots of choice and everything tasted delicious! And what a beautiful location with incredibly friendly staff!

Enjoyed Easter brunch. Beautifully prepared buffet. Many delicacies, almost everything very tasty. Atmospheric and stylish ambiance. Staff extremely hospitable and attentive. They give you a real "welcome" feeling. Are genuinely interested in their guests. We were even sort of escorted out. Nowadays, this is often not the case at many establishments. Short: Highly recommended.

Busy...but really enjoyable food As a tip: try to divide the room to better regulate sound. This makes it relatively low-stimulus.

Had a delicious meal with my daughter last night. Beautiful location with a warm atmosphere. Friendly service. If you want to dine quietly in a rustic ambiance, definitely recommended!

Nice and neat service. We had the 5-course surprise menu and had a delicious meal! Vegetarian wishes were taken into account. And they really made something delicious out of it. Recommended to eat here once.

Beautiful authentic building, spacious layout of the tables. The food was delicious and good value for money. Service and other staff are very helpful and friendly. Enjoying a pleasant dinner is no problem.

Don't just play around here anymore!

Food is very good, but furniture and maintenance could really be improved. Due for replacement.

Recently visited this restaurant for a wedding. The room was attractive and the staff was very helpful with the use of a projector and party box for the music. The food and drinks were very tasty, especially the chicken satay is very good. I'm told the secret lies in a good marinade. All in all a very good experience and highly recommended for organizing a party.

Nice environment to have something to eat

A large group at an anniversary, and a second group in another part of the location was a bit too much for the catering. Regularly waiting for new supplies of bread and salads. The BBQ was supposed to be partly vegetarian, but they didn't get any further than a skewer with vegetables. Few parking spaces.

Upon entering, there were no staff to be seen in the brasserie. After waiting 10 minutes a waitress came. Waitress was friendly but did not take order properly. Drinks were only brought after asking. We were not asked for extra drinks in between, and because there were not always staff present, we could not ask for them right away. Food was of mediocre quality. Fine but not freshly prepared. In addition, we had to wait a very long time (an hour on average) for the next course, without being offered drinks. The loose fries according to the menu consisted of a few potato slices. In our opinion, price-quality was not in balance. Furniture and further maintenance of restaurant was poor. Leather of chairs was damaged, crockery was different. In short: we didn't think it was worth repeating.

Celebrated my 75th birthday here with 46 acquaintances, friends and family. Successful.

Eating out tonight, quite an experience. Upon arrival, we indicated whether we could hang the coats somewhere, the answer was yes, I can hang them up if necessary. Then we could choose a table ourselves without being guided after the table. After waiting a while we were able to order a drink and received the menu. With the announcement that there were leftovers from Christmas, we could choose a surprise menu. After we had chosen something from the menu (waitress did not know the menu). Ordered extra sandwich in advance. After fifteen minutes she came back that dishes had been chosen as the main menu, actually an appetizer. So our table guests chose something different. After another fifteen minutes another waitress announced that we had received the old card and a new card had been available since October. So we had to choose our food again. But still no sandwich in advance when the new order was taken. But in the meantime, an hour later, still no sandwich and starter. Ask for napkins yourself, these were not covered. After insisting, we finally got the sandwich and our appetizer. It was delicious and good . Waiting anxiously for the main course. This came on schedule and was very worthwhile. I understand that it is difficult to find staff at the moment. But there is something structurally wrong here in the guidance of the waitresses who really did their best. Manager make sure you have everything in order. This is where you really go wrong. We had one hilarious evening. Because of everything that went wrong. But the manager can blame himself for that

Had Christmas dinner from work. Food was good. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Did you have a nice evening.

Nice dinner. Delicious food, great service. Pleasantly warm and a pleasant ambiance. In the center of Ede, but it seems like you are in the middle of the forest.

Hier nemen ze stagieres aan zonder leermeester! Laten ze meer dan 200 uur meewerken, kosteloos. En weigeren dan de papieren in orde te maken voor de leerling zodat hij zn diploma in ontvangst kan gaan nemen! Niet reageren op mails etc. Dieptriest!

Fij en gezellig restaurant.mede door het mooie weer was het heerlijk toeven op het terras.

Heerlijk plekje om een hapje en een borreltje te doen.

Ik raad jullie aan zodra het buffet geopend wordt, dan ook gelijk zeggen in welke volgorde van tafels de gasten moeten beginnen. Want er zijn heel veel gasten die bang zijn dat ze ernaast vissen.

Lekker gebarbequed, en gedronken

Koud buffet was smakelijk en ruim voldoende. Het warme buffet was stuk minder De gerechten waren te zout en de borden te koud.Het nagerecht was prima De huiswijn was te zuur Jammer dat er geen rosé bier was. Parkeren erg moeilijk parkeerbon op de ruit Zou fijn zijn als er op attent gemaakt wordt dat je daar niet mag Parkeren .

Goede bediening maar, slechte parkeer gelegenheid.

Heerlijk gegeten, vriendelijk personeel. Het was niet druk. Dat snapten wij niet erg, want het was verder ook gezellig ingericht en lekker warm.

Betty & Rene hebben op 30-12-2022 onze 50 jarig huwelijksfeest gevierd in zaal Bolderik te Villa Buitenzorg. 100% geslaagd o.a. door top vrouwen Heidi, Ivonne, verzorgend personeel en de uitstraling gezelligheid van het geheel. Genieten 100%. Betty & Rene den Braber

Fantastisch gegeten, goede bediening en prachtige ambiance.. kortom voor herhaling vatbaar!

We werden hier super behandeld en het eten heeft ons verrukkelijk gesmaakt. De smaaksensaties waren ook om je bord bij af te likken. Een aanrader! Toevoeging: Hier al een aantal keer wezen eten. De kaart ziet er elke keer weer interessant en uitnodigend uit. Daar wil je alles wel van proeven. De gerechten zijn heerlijk, de combinatie tussen smaken is heel goed. De borden worden ook heel netjes opgemaakt. Extra toevoeging. Een feest hier meegemaakt. Leuke feestlocatie en een goede dansvloer. Het geheel is uiteraard waar ouder, maar ik vind dat totaal niet storend, geeft juist een extra geschiedenis waarde eraan.

Receptie met de vereniging gehad. Prima zaal en goede verzorging.

Was hier met een teamuitje, was erg gezellig en lekker. Workshop gehad en geleerd hoe ik pasta moet maken.

Mooie authentieke horeca gelegenheid.

Op deze locatie een bruiloft gehad! Mooie locatie, voldoende ruimte. Jammer dat er weinig/beperkte parkeer gelegenheid is voor de deur, zeker als er een party is. Deze locatie biedt ook Brasserie met terras.

Heerlijk gegeten. Lekker buiten kunnen zitten. Vriendelijke bediening.

We kwamen aan in het restaurant en konden een tafel uitzoeken, het was niet druk slechts 4 tafels bezet. Na ca. 10 minuten gevraagd of we de wijnkaart en menukaart konden krijgen, de serveerster liep weg en kwam niet meer terug. Weer ca. 10 minuten gewacht, toen maar naar de manager gelopen die buiten zat te vergaderen. De manager vertelde mij dat er maar 1 wijnkaart (!!) is en die was bij een andere tafel. Ze zou wel even naar boven lopen om een wijnkaart te printen (hahaha echt gebeurd!). Uiteindelijk na een half uur hadden we de fles wijn van de vers geprintte wijnkaart en het eten besteld. De biefstuk was "ok" en de saltimbocca van mijn vrouw was ook prima. Had nog gevraagd wat er bij de biefstuk zat, de serveerster vertelde mij dat je alleen een "kale" biefstuk in een pan kreeg, dus nog maar wat ernaast besteld. Dit bleek niet nodig want er zaten wat groente en een aardappel gratin bij. De frieten zijn dus in de prullenbak geëindigd. De manager was erg druk bij bekenden die aan een andere tafel zaten te eten en de aandacht voor de andere klanten was benedenmaats. Snel de wijn opgemaakt en een kopje koffie (met veel moeite kunnen bestellen) gedronken en wegwezen, nooit meer terug!

Gezellig restaurant waar je buiten op het terras ook lekker van een drankje kan geniet. Fijne bediening!

Gelukkig was er een fijn zonnetje, het wachten was hierdoor minder vervelend. De bediening was erg langzaam... Het eten was ok, maar niet bijzonder. Prijs-kwaliteit niet helemaal in verhouding.

We aten heerlijke asperges. Hebben genoten.

We came here on a Monday night with my partner, our almost 4 month old and another couple. The atmosphere was lovely, very tastefully decorated. The menu is interesting- they don’t have prices on single plates, but we went for the full 5 dish meal anyway so we weren’t bothered by that. The prices are fair, I don’t feel like we really got a great deal, but the food was on par with what we paid. The house wine was pretty nice too! The service was lovely and everyone was extremely nice. The only reason why I don’t give it 5 stars is because one of the plates was a bit salty for my taste and I’ve been to restaurants with food a bit superior to this one with a similar price, so I only want to be fair; that said I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Prettig personeel mooi uitzonderlijk lokaatie

Vanavond hier heerlijk gegeten. Leuke gevarieerde kaart waaruit je zelf een menu voor een vaste prijs kunt samenstellen. Voor een gemiddelde eter zijn de porties precies genoeg. Erg leuke, ietwat klassieke locatie ook. Het ligt net iets buiten het centrum waardoor je niet zo snel aan dit restaurant denkt, maar het is een echte aanrader.

Gisteren (20-01-2022) genoten van het (gecaterde) verrassingsmenu. Zeer aangenaam verrast! 5 heerlijke gangen in fraaie dozen. Mooi uitgebalanceerde smaakcombinaties, royale porties en een lust voor het oog. Met als hoogtepunt een voortreffelijke zacht gegaarde kalfssucade op sterrenniveau. Een culinair feestje dat we iedereen aanraden!

Het was een smakelijk en goed verzorgd diner.

Though the building from the outside shows a lot of pretention, the inside is worn out, as is the service. And the food was horrible. Arriving in a rather cold dining room, ("forgot to put the heating on..."), confusion about our reservation à la carte or Valentine's diner, discount vouchers, etc. Two starters with no taste and not according to the menu, almost cold mains, pouring another wine in a glass which was used for another wine, eclectricity switches lacking next to your table with open electricity wires, it was an awful birthday dinner for a price of € 83,50. Never again, unless this historic location is saved by management which is able to transfer this beautiful old building with so much potention into the expected pretention. In the meantime: don't go there, you will be disappointed....
