A lovely restaurant with a beautiful, large terrace offering plenty of shade when it's hot. The service is always good and served with a smile. My girlfriend is gluten-free, and there are many different options for her, which the staff can clearly explain. There are also plenty of delicious drinks and food options.

It was a great welcome, the speed with which the food was served, the good treatment and, most importantly, the taste was truly delicious.

Buurten has hit the mark. They now have four restaurants in beautiful locations. One of Buurten's hallmarks is its child-friendliness. I'm not a fan of children, so I rarely visit Buurten. Every now and then, I pop in because they have a decent menu and the locations. One Sunday evening, I ended up at Buurten in de Fabriek. Once again, the kids were having the most fun. But you know that when you go to Buurten. I was shocked at how far the kitchen had fallen. I'd eaten quite well here in the past, but what I was served this time wasn't great. The sea bream wasn't cooked properly; it came with maybe half a baked potato and a child's handful of vegetables. Fortunately, the fries were tasty. I was charged over 40 euros for this blunder and two glasses of average red wine. Well, I understand why people are turning their backs on the hospitality industry. Buurten, things have to improve.

The dishes really mega tasty and also a lot!! I was surprised how richly topped e.g. an egg Benedict with salmon!! Never eaten anywhere soooo good! (and I try them everywhere!) Top place!!

Great service and kiddie corner

Come here every two weeks because of activities in the old cereol factory. But now I don't order anything more than a cup of coffee. Typical 11 in a dozen catering establishments that we have so many of in the Netherlands. Location is great. But that's it. The rest (food, drinks, service) is mediocre at most and the prices are way too high for what is delivered. But who am I? It's full anyway...

Ambience is ok. Service is slow and not attentive. You have to ask constantly if you can get more drinks. They forget some requests. I found it very messy and a giggly company. The food was really below average. The toilet is a kind of public toilet which is very dirty and broken. Not recommended.

Nice restaurant, food is fine. But at 18:07 they come to ask if you are aware that you have to leave at 18:30. Too bad, because of the slow service there was suddenly a rush and no time for dessert. Mind you, we were there at 16:45! So an end time is fine, if you cooperate as a restaurant! Food is quite expensive for what you get. One time, but we will not come back. With six of us, including 2 small ones, we spent over € 200 without dessert, that is no joke. We know the owner and will send him a message

Too short spoon for latte macchiato

We were here for Mother's Day because it is located in such a beautiful central location in the Netherlands. There is a large terrace, which is nice when the weather permits. There is also plenty of room inside. It's a bit gloomy. But that is also because they have preserved some details of the old factory. So it is not a fancy restaurant, but it is more luxurious than a cafeteria. The food was excellent, but obviously not haute cuisine. Not that I expected that. The service was exceptionally friendly. And the little ones have also been well thought of. In short; maybe not 5 stars but highly recommended.

Very cozy spot on the water! You sit comfortably in the sun and out of the wind. Service is nice and takes time for you! Food is 10/10 but still just 9/10 and very good for the price you pay!

We had a great cheese cake. The service was friendly but we had to wait a bit until we’re asked what we would like to order. In whole a very nice place with a good vibe.

I was there two weeks ago. We ate very well a super complete Caesar salad and some delicious croquettes. I recommend it. It is about 15 minutes from the train station.

Food and drinks were great but what really made this place was the fantastic staff and vibes. Location is close to the water and a little ways away from the city centre, which makes it quiet and cozy.

After having a good meal at 'Buurten in de Bieb', we now went to 'Buurten in de Fabriek'. Unfortunately, this did not go well, I had a sirloin steak (medium rare), but it was still so raw that it was just barely ready. After sending it back, it was well done. But I've never had a sirloin steak that was whiter than a piece of pork even after cooking twice (unfortunately no photo). This is an art in itself. My wife's dish (Stake Tartare) was good. However, our daughter's pancake was so rubbery that it was unedible. This was probably the first pancake of the day, and as everyone knows, the first pancake always fails. The fact that I give 2 stars instead of 1 has to do with the good service, which also felt very guilty and was clearly ashamed of what was put on the table.

Paid 7 euros for 2 mini cups (soda and 'ice' coffee) that are supposed to represent a to-go.... a bit special.

Spacious catering facility on a canal just outside the centre of Utrecht. Also spacious terrace with a view of the canal and traffic bridge. Good dishes and ditto service.

Het eten geeft onvoldoende waar voor zijn geld. Gelegenheid is wel prettig en redelijk rustig. Een volgende keer proberen we iets anders.

Unfortunately, the children's area is in serious need of replacing. It's not child friendly anymore, old shit. The sofa is broken, many toys are dirty or broken and they are clearly not cleaned enough. You can't get anything to eat before eleven o'clock except sweet pastries. Too bad, it had so much potential, but it has deteriorated greatly in recent years. Expensive, mediocre food and staff that clearly needs further training. It looks nice, but that's about all.

I had a fish appetizer (can’t remember the name), but it was a bit too salty and not very flavorful. The portion was decent for a starter, though. The soup of the day was delicious. That said, I think the food is overpriced. The location is great—you can sit outside with a beautiful canal view, or inside, which is cozy and inviting. Service was solid, with attentive and polite staff.

Great location. Pleasant. You can only choose a fresh mint tea, large or normal. Large is €4!!! And it's actually a normal glass. Not even with refill. Really ridiculously expensive. If large: give a large glass. Never order a tea there again!

Excellent restaurant a 20-minute walk from the station. It is a separate location near a school and library. Toilets are shared in the hallway. The restaurant has a play area for children and is full of atmosphere. Parking is available (free) in front of the door. There were 5 of us at a 4-person table. That was a bit tight, but it worked. We had ordered a number of snacks in advance to share. The loaded nachos are recommended. The meat of the day was bavette for 2-3 people. The two men in our party ate this and it was clean. Bavette was nice and tender. The sirloin steak was also very good and tender. Satay was a bit disappointing.

Beautiful location with good coffee and delicious sandwiches

Een heerlijke plek, ik kom hier al jaren vooral in de zomer, het eten is fantastisch. Zelfs mijn ouders die van ver komen eten hier heel graag. Wat ik wel heel jammer vind is dat een een cappuccino haver hier 4.45 euro kost. Het is geen speciale dure koffie die ze gebruiken en dat je nog zoveel extra voor plantaardige melk betaald is echt niet nodig in deze tijd. Ik kom in heel Lombok en in de stad voor koffie. Bij Bagels en Soia en het Theehuis in het park heb je voor minder een grote cappuccino, en zelfs bij speciale koffiezaakjes. Buurten vraagt al heel lang meer voor koffie terwijl de plantaardige melk helemaal niet veel duurder is. Ik vind het jammer bijna 5 euro is veel teveel. Ze maken hier gewoon heel veel winst op. Toch een reden dat ik hier niet meer zo snel een koffie ga drinken.

Nice place, casual atmosphere and easy place to go with kids. Staff were friendly and attentive to the youngest among us. Definitely go back again when the weather is nice! Minus...little parking on site, so you have to park in the street further down.

Leuke locatie, gezellige ambiance, vriendelijk personeel. Door aanwezigheid van mijn humoristische vrienden een gezellige avond. Maar... 'nomen est omen' : ook culinair beschouwd een industriële gebeurtenis. De 580 gram ossenhaas (geen vraag naar de gewenste cuisson!) wekte de indruk van een taaie en flauwe Hollandse biefstuk. Twee stukken heb ik na lang kauwen op het bord moeten achterlaten. Voor een gerecht (voor twee personen) van bijna 80 euro mag je botermals gerijpt vlees verwachten. Bij navraag hield de kok vol dat het toch echt ossenhaas betrof. Ik ga uit van eerlijkheid, in dat geval is de leverancier ernstig in gebreke gebleven. De pepersaus was muf en onsmakelijk, vermoedelijk een zakje Knorr. Dan maar veel zout en peper voor wat smaak... De frietjes lekker en krokant, maar erg weinig. De bijbehorende groenten overgaar, de paprika en courgette liefdeloos tot snot gekookt. Dan maar een Colaatje om de teleurstelling weg te spoelen, maar ook in deze uitspanning is alleen het inferieure Pepsi verkrijgbaar. Helaas geen goedmakertje, excuses of zelfs maar een teken van begrip. Jammer!

Nice location, very child-friendly. Friendly staff! Food was good, but we didn't eat the sauce with the steak, it seemed crazy. Fortunately, the meat tasted good and we didn't need any sauce. The vegetables contain a lot of onion. That's why I thought it was on the pricey side.

Ordered 200 gram sirloin steak with fries and salad. The sirloin steak (unfortunately I didn't have scales with me) would have weighed a maximum of 130 grams. It was pre-cut (why?!), and far from tasty, juicy and tender. A slice of über salty and frozen herb cheese lay on the sirloin steak. The fries were pale and lukewarm. The salad consisted of 4 leaves of lettuce. And that for €27.50. The service could be a bit more attentive, proactive and friendly. First and last time I've been here.

Had lunch on Sunday afternoon. We ordered a club sandwich and a tomato soup. I have rarely eaten such a bland, tasteless and unimaginative soup. Moreover, not warm and watery. Served with an old bun with a tub of margarine. A second attempt was warm, but that was all. For the money you pay you can really expect something tastier and better prepared. The bread for the club sandwich was not fresh, but it was also very simple and not well executed. Too bad, we were looking forward to a nice lunch in the sun. The sun did not disappoint.

In the summer it is nice to relax on the terrace. Extensive lunch, dinner, wine and beer menu. Also great place for business appointments.

Never had to wait so long for food and the lady serving was clearly irritated about something and therefore very unfriendly. Not a pleasant experience. Vegan croquette sandwich is nice that you can get that, but those chunks of tasteless bread are different from how I imagine a croquette sandwich and then having to wait 45 minutes for it... no, I won't go for this again my pleasure.

We have been coming to eat with a large group for four years in a row (except for corona times). Around January 14th. We had already reserved for December 13 (and again for confirmation on January 9). We had been promised the place near the wall opposite the play corner, given the 9 children (from 1 to 8 years old). This was also suggested by the Buurten employee. We had been there twice before. Last year with a large and a small table. Now they had Sunday, Jan. 14. reserved another table, all the way on the other side. The floor manager was adamant. It was not possible to change. The tables near the wall were virtually empty the rest of the time. This is very unfortunate.

Met gezelschap op aanraden hier terecht gekomen. Veel gasten met bakfietsen en kleine kinderen. Mocht de pret niet drukken. Lekker voorgerecht van Burrata en smakelijke vis van de dag (zeebaars). Verzorgd kaasplankje na. De Roemeense rode wijn is geen aanrader. Leuke tent met prettige bediening.

We dronken een heerlijke cocktail (Pornostar martini) vooraf. Daarna deelden we twee lekkere voorafjes voor vier. Deden ze niet moeilijk over en toen lekker gegeten. Eindelijk eens een restaurant waar het geluid aangenaam is en je gewoon kan praten in een gezellige omgeving. Prima plek!

Lekker gegeten, vriendelijk personeel en het is een gezellige tent. Helaas is de kinderwagen in de gang gestolen dus de fijne ervaring werd overschaduwd door narigheid en hoge kosten. Het personeel dacht mee en leek er ook geschrokken van te zijn. Advies om je spullen mee naar binnen te nemen ook al wordt er gezegd dat de kinderwagens buiten kunnen staan.

Het restaurant zit in een gebouw met onder andere ook een bibliotheek. Het eten is lekker. Goede vegetarische sate.

Nice for borrel, ok-ish for lunch and dinner. The waiting time can be so long (it took me twice 45min to get a simple lunch on quiet saturday) and quality is not there (even compared to the other Burten in Leidsche Rijn). Now I just order a drink and eat at home... too bad the location is nice and kid friendly.

Gezellig restaurant. Jammer dat je voor de wc een hoge trap in de bibliotheek op moet.

Service was prompt but without pressure. Steak was cooked to order and clearly a quality cut. At my request the chef substituted potatoes for deliciously roasted vegetables. It arrived quickly and was delicious! Washed down with a regional beer.

Het brugwachtershuisje is een ideale locatie voor een intiem feestje

Afgelopen weekend hier m’n verjaardag gevierd in de Fabrieksbar (het oude sluiswachtershuisje). Echt super geregeld en hele leuke plek. Je hebt het huisje met bar en privé-terras helemaal voor jezelf (inclusief twee man sterk aan personeel). Alles verliep zoals we van tevoren hadden afgesproken. De hapjes en het eten waren super en ik kreeg van veel gasten complimenten over de leuke plek. Locatie ook praktisch gezien top: parkeergelegenheid in de buurt (gratis in het weekend) en op loopafstand van Utrecht Centraal (dik kwartier). Voor al mijn gasten was het dus goed te bereiken. Ik heb hier een top verjaardag gehad!

A decent place to grab a bite to eat if you are in Oog en Al. The menu selection is quite broad and enticing, so you have a good chance of finding something appetizing. The food that I ordered was palatable, but nothing to write home about. I had the soup of the day (a creamy courgette soup) and a chorizo toastie (I really love the concept!). The chorizo was a bit chewy and tasted undercooked. The courgette soup was slightly bland but did come with two tasty balls of olive bread.

Lunch gegeten op het terras met een collega en genoten. De service was heel vriendelijk en professioneel (uitnodigend, aardig, efficiënt en gepast in het contact). Het eten zag er niet alleen lekker uit, maar smaakte ook heerlijk. Ik vond de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding voor deze locatie in Utrecht helemaal prima! We hebben beide niet vegetarisch gegeten, maar ook daar was er voldoende keuze in. Enig puntje van opbouwende feedback is dat er wellicht rond lunchtijd bij de bankjes een extra kussentje kan, zodat het rechtop zitten en eten wat makkelijker is. Ik kom zeker nog een keer terug om een ander lunchgerecht te proberen!

Mooie plek, heel vriendelijk personeel. Ondanks indrukwekkend koffiezetapparaat is de koffie echt niet lekker, helaas.

Not impressed with the food during weekend (burger was raw, salad was dried out and very clearly pre-pared way too in advanced and no dressing). During the week (less busy times) the food has a much better quality. Service is great and super friendly. Location is great. Would be awesome if those blue fences would disappear and Buurten could extend their terrace to the water (dream big 😉)
