Great concept. Sample various wines and pour your own 😉. Also a great selection of beers. A warm welcome and excellent service. However, no change is accepted for cash payments. So, card payments are accepted.

A fun concept. You can decide how much beer/wine you want. It's a place to go for a drink with (young) friends. The place is a bit noisy, and the staff is busy. The person who initially helped us was friendly and gave the impression of being a master of her craft. Unfortunately, she had to apologize several times to her colleagues. When serving, one of us forgot the cutlery, and then you have to search for someone to help you. The beer/wine selection is extensive, but I got the impression that quantity was prioritized over quality. The pork belly menu offered a set of 5, but we were served 3. The answer was that the quantity didn't matter; the weight was the same. The taste was good. The salmon main course was only overcooked, raw on the inside, the salad was missing, and the flavor was unremarkable. The chicken teriyaki turned out to be flavorless chicken nuggets on a skewer. The fennel salad was more of a garnish. The salmon went back to the kitchen and the same one was put back on the table after it was cooked through.

It's so much fun to pour your own beer that you like. So for me, a tasty triple.

We had a wonderful meal at Taphuys's SPIJS pop-up! The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was cozy (especially for young people), and you can stay late for a drink to get in the mood for a fun evening. The scallops were delicious, as was the duck.

't Taphuys offers a huge selection of different beers, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We were able to order a platter of (vegetarian) snacks just in time, which was great, considering it was almost 1:00 AM. The staff is also very flexible and helpful. Moreover, the cafe's interior is beautiful.

Taphuys, great concept ✅, HOSPITALITY IS UNKNOWN HERE ❌ On Friday, October 31st, we had a reservation for dinner and drinks for four people from 7:30 PM to midnight. (As discussed in email and by phone.) Our reception was already difficult, and there were problems with our table, so they quickly freed it up. We were treated rudely after 18 minutes when we asked where the tea for one of our guests was. (It happens, we're all human, but just react normally.) At 10:00 PM, we were told we had to leave immediately because the table reservation had arrived. I explained that our reservation ended at midnight, as stated in the confirmation email, and asked for the manager. Ultimately, I spoke to three different employees, but didn't speak to the manager (who, according to someone, was smoking). Each employee gave a different story and tried to blame us for the mistake. The table we were at wasn't right (the staff placed it there), we had to leave two hours early because it was too busy, the confirmation email wasn't conclusive, etc. Apparently, it's normal here if you make a dinner reservation from 7:30 PM to midnight, and then after a few drinks and snacks, you're sent away at 10:00 PM due to mistakes on their part. Just honestly acknowledge your mistake and offer a solution. Final conclusion: Didn't speak to the manager, didn't offer a solution, and ultimately we were forced to leave to end the evening at another café. They don't know the meaning of "hospitality" and "reservation."

Last Friday, a group of us came for a nice drink. We had made a reservation and arrived on time, but unfortunately, everything went wrong from the start. We waited at least eight minutes before being helped at all. When we were finally shown to our table, it turned out to be occupied. The waitress didn't really know what to do and left us standing around without explanation. Eventually, we were given another table, but even after that, things went smoothly. No explanation was given about the QR code ordering system, so we had to figure it out ourselves. Then, the wrong appetizers arrived that weren't even meant for us—it happens, but it all felt very sloppy. Most of our group had a drinks card that allowed you to pour yourself a drink, but I ordered a tea and waited 18 minutes for it. The food even arrived before my tea. When I politely asked if my order had been forgotten, I was met with a rather curt response. After more than two hours of pleasant company, we were suddenly told we had to leave because the table was "needed for other guests." Even though we had a reservation until midnight. When we pointed this out, they mainly argued instead of trying to find a solution. The concept of the restaurant is nice, but the execution and especially the service were downright terrible. It's a shame, because this could have been a really nice evening.

A lovely café with a wide variety of beers that you can tap yourself by purchasing a tap card. Great concept! Friendly staff who are happy to explain the different beers.

This is highly recommended. A beer and wine tasting presented in a fun and friendly way. We'll be back again. The food was delicious too.

I had a lovely drinks reception with colleagues at 't Taphuys. Despite the limited staff and large number of guests, Steffie ensured everything ran smoothly. Of course, she wasn't alone in this, but she's a special asset to me. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and kept a cool head. She quickly navigated the crowds of people arriving, the Australian tourists who demanded her attention, and my questions. Thanks to her, our drinks reception was an extra success.

A really fun concept, maybe a bit more expensive, but you really do have a ton of different options. And you get any money left on your card back. We were there on Thursday evening, August 28th, and it wasn't too busy at all.

A great place to go for a few beers with friends. Recommended to go in a group, or in a group of three.

This is not a place for a group. Very poor service. Very rude staff. I emailed the restaurant 2 weeks in advance. I told that we are 10 people and asked whether a-la-carte would be an option because their group menu was not good enough and simply because we wanted to try aubergine dishes. I got the reply that it is absolutely possible. But once we placed the orders via their qr codes, the staff cancelled all the orders citing they do not have enough food for us of our choice. We were then given a different (printed paper) menu which had mostly bar food like chicken bites, croquettes, supermarket gyoza, burger and more fried stuff. The staff was extremely unacomodating. It was embarrassing to say the least. Next to that they made us wait for more than 1.5 hours for the food. For fried food! There was no apology, no courtesy. Utter disgrace. I will spread the word so no other team has to face this.

Visited but you have to pour your own beers so we left. I do not expect to visit s bar and serve myself

Taphuys is a must-visit for beer lovers They have one of the best varieties of beer I’ve come across, with something for every taste. The ambiance is vibrant and welcoming, making it a great place to hang out with friends. The food was just as impressive, perfectly complementing the drinks. Overall, a fun and satisfying experience. Can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic selection of beers and wine. The food is really good. Had the camembert bread and the smashed burger. Both really good.. but the desserts were small for the cost. Not good value for money - a small letdown

The service was nice, but they didn't explain how the self-tapping system worked. Personally, I don't like ordering via the app at all. The burger was tasty, but quite small for the price (€18.50). The beer taps unfortunately had alternating displays with advertisements in between, which made it less than pleasant. A review on Untappd felt the system was too complicated for me. One beer had no carbonation at all on tap, and that cost €6 for about 280ml. Overall, it might be a great thing with well-earning friends, but my €20 beer card was already empty after about 0.9l, and I was still hungry.

Interesting and nice concept to try out to find and tap your own beers: which unfortunately will create too much foam in your glass. Price is quite high in this way: for 4 regular sized craft beers created, the total cost was 35 eur, while in a regular concept beer bar this would cost approximately 25 eur. Ambiance was very nice. Hard to find the personell sometimes. Kitchen was closed.

I went to this taphouse one evening with some friends. The experience was great, the atmosphere and the fact that you can tap your own beer is great. The only downside is the beers they have on tap. These are not the most special beers, or highest rated beers, but certainly something you have not had yet. I would definitely recommend it and plan to visit note branches, really recommended

This place offers a relatively large variety of wine and beers. The concept is that you get a card that you charge with money and then you can go and serve whatever beer you like after scanning the card. The food is acceptable too. Feels like a place to get quite drunk quite fast and lose money rapidly but all in a happy way

Definitely a fun concept with the self-tap, but the atmosphere is strongly reminiscent of a bachelor party location — you have to like that. For a freshly tapped specialty beer it is quite nice, although it feels a bit commercial. For real lovers of specialty beer there are better and more authentic alternatives in Utrecht.

Find an alternative if you want a cozy evening. A large selection is nice for the beer lover, but this concept is impersonal and unsociable. The only added value of the staff is adding extra credits to your tap card.

You have a wide choice of different beers or wines. Friendly staff. The food is reasonable. You just don't get a salad with your food. It is almost always busy. The seating areas could be a little better. A little more cozy atmosphere would be nice. But choice of beer/wine is huge

I made a reservation four hours in advance, but my reservation was not in the system, even though I did receive a confirmation in my email. Luckily we were on time and there was still room. It's a nice concept to tap your own beer, but also very pricey. The kitchen did an excellent job and provided us with various hot snacks.

A tall blond boy from the staff did nothing at all, was just smoking on the terrace… Not professional. By the way, the other staff (boy and girl) were working very hard, was very busy.

U ordered smash burger and the meat quality was disappointing, super greasy l, and the fries were bad and greasy as well. Definitely avoid if you want to get good food...

Lots of tasty wines for a fair price. Cozy atmosphere and excellent snacks to go with it. We enjoyed it! The only downside was that after 2.5 hours the table was reserved again and we had to leave.

The service was very bad. The table was not cleaned even when the dishes were served, and we were requested to leave right after finishing our main course—which we had to wait an hour for—because they had other guests waiting. The food was okay, except that after such a long wait, everything on our plates was cold. We mentioned this to the manager, who told us to send an email. We did, and their response was that we should have complained to the kitchen 🙈. The concept is nice, but you pay a lot for a small glass of wine and receive very bad service, including cold food.

Staff looks and walks right through you; at Zara they are even friendlier. In addition, our food was late because she "had not entered it correctly", then had to wait another 45 minutes for limp fries and a cold burger.

Super cool place to drink specialty beers. We've been here twice, always enjoyable. Sometimes one of the taps does not work, but if you indicate this, you will receive a full glass from the waiter as compensation. Very good wines also by the glass.

This is a cool concept where you can self serve from a wide variety of beers. You can also watch your card balance descend as you pour the beer, and it does descend quickly in this place - maybe a little too quickly.

Strange, I have a Taphuys card that works in the other branches, but in Utrecht people apparently have a different idea about this. We were a group of 10, of which 6 people had their own maps of Tilburg and Arnhem, among others, but these did not work in Utrecht. It's a shame that 1 of 4 businesses thinks differently about their system and customers. Won't be coming back here again.

Well this was a different kind of bar. Taps for wine and beer - you search your own. However I prefer to sit down and get service so I had a Negroni

As the only duck out of the pond of 4 Taphuys businesses in the Netherlands, Taphuys Utrecht does not accept the Taphuys card, which does work in the other 3 businesses. The excuse? Yes, we have a newer system and cannot link it, so we have our own card. Just bad... how can you be the only one with a completely different system? It is and was always the intention that customers could use their card in any tap house... so we left. Not going to buy a new card, top up with balance only for Utrecht... I have more than 75 euros on the card, which is valid everywhere.

What an incredibly nice concept. I've lived in Utrecht all my life, but I only found out about this place through friends today. There is a nice atmosphere, taps for wine and beer and your Friday evening can't go wrong.

First place I've seen here where you can literally tap your own wine and beer, from a large selection. For beer you pay per centiliter (0.01 l), so you can do a tasting first if you are unsure. Wine comes in three pre-select sizes. It's a bit pricey, but then you can also have a glass of a wine you normally only get per bottle, or a special beer that's normally not on tap. They have surprisingly good pub food and very friendly and helpful staff. We visited at an unusually quiet time which was perfect to learn how the place works (usually it's cram-packed, especially in the evening). Definitely a good place to go with a group with diverse tastes, and during the quieter time also very suitable for families with children.

We were able to have a pleasant evening in one of the few places on Christmas Eve in Utrecht, partly thanks to our bar hero Jorn. Good beer and good service, a place we will definitely come back to again!

Nice to try because of the fairly unique concept of being able to tap a fairly large amount of (occasionally changing) beers. So you can taste many beers in small quantities. I've been here about 4 times in recent years, but given the high price (the tap menu runs out very quickly) and the not too interesting food offering, this will never become a regular place for me.

I didn't eat there. Drunk alone. The food seems to be good. But the ambiance is a disaster. There is noisy music on. The acoustics are so bad that you can barely hear each other. There are students screaming in the corner and you pay twice the main price for beer that you have to/are allowed to tap yourself. I get the same beer served at my table further down town for half the price. As far as I'm concerned, this store is completely overrated.

We had an outing to this location with our team. We were about 20 people and had made a reservation. When we arrived at the location, we received our tap cards that could be used for beer and wine. Because not everyone took the tap drinks, drinks were also ordered at the bar, but this was not actually possible from the tap menu. This had been agreed and therefore the staff had to take some steps to achieve this. 1 staff member, behind the bar, clearly didn't feel like her working day. She dropped several glasses in the first hour. She complained and whined, also about the way soft drinks had to be paid for, and I even heard her say that she was not happy with one of her colleagues. I also heard that she had said to one of my colleagues that we were already making things difficult enough today.... Clearly a 'Karen' who would have been better off staying home…. After some waiting time and the first drinks, some bowls of snacks were served. Great snacks! The whole idea of ​​tapping everywhere is also fun. Of course, they could also have done this for soft drinks so that everything could be from the same menu. Then we would eat burgers. We had to wait at least 2.5 hours for this. Just a few burgers for 20 people. While they don't even have to do much in the way of service, because they have the tap with tap card… I don't have much to complain about the burger. Quality as you can make it at home without any cooking experience. Just a great burger. The fries, on the other hand, were tough, cold and greasy. Definitely not restaurant quality… In addition to the Smashburger, there was also a vegetarian variant (hard on the outside, but soft on the inside) and the pulled chicken burger, which is actually no longer a burger? Cool place to try different drinks, concept is cool, could use more speciality beers

Nice fun concept but it's really just an easy way to get consumers to paid for the beer that would normally be wasted. To respond: the start of the pour you normally pour away as it's been in the line for too long. That's why you see servers pull the tap prior to placing the glass under it. Not doing this may lead to getting stale beer, which I have also endured when your place was super quiet.

I love this bar. Everything is perfect, I visited with my boy. I prefer wine and he beer, both of us were sutisfied. Just food is too expensive.

'T Taphuys is a very nice restaurant, with always nice and charming staff and a very pleasant atmosphere. Especially later in the evening, when the main light is switched to mood light, it creates a very nice atmosphere. Nice, chill music, absolutely no boring decor and fun to look around. The food is also highly recommended: everything has a slightly Asian twist (as a carpaccio lover I had to get used to it a bit, but it was very tasty, the gyoza is also highly recommended). The wide range of wines and (special) beers is also a highlight, although I am more of a fan of cocktails (pornstar martini is highly recommended!). In conclusion, 'T Taphuys is a nice, cozy and fun place to have a drink, have lunch or go on a date. The staff in particular makes this place a great place

It is a beautiful, atmospheric restaurant. You can order your drinks + food online via a QR code, or you can buy a tap card and use it to tap your own beers and/or wine, which is very pricey if you go for a full glass ;) but you can also ' Taste many different beers if you go for half a glass. It's a nice concept, but you have to love it!

Pauper tent. Asked 5 times for the food to come. Waited 2.5 hours for the food. That was cold. The quantity was poor…. Didn't see me again.

Compared to Arnhem, this bar has little atmosphere and I don't think the staff is very alert. They were mostly talking to each other. While there was hardly any tidying up. The platter was just barely thrown on the table without saying anything. In addition, the beer is really on the expensive side. Even for the regular special beers you pay the top price here. And many beers were lukewarm too.

Rarely have I experienced something so dramatic, having to wait 2.5 hours for food with a group of 22 people. The spareribs probably came from a pig that hadn't had anything to drink since 2012, so dry, it really had no chance.

A bit super expensive, before beer comes out of the tap instead of foam you have already lost 2 euros, I paid 10 euros for a full glass of Apple Bandit, super nice idea, but a bit too expensive, a beer was warm, staff knew I couldn't do anything until I asked for a refund, then I got extra credit on my card It is too expensive for a beer, but if you want to try a sip of all 60+ types of beer, it is definitely recommended!

An amazing place, with a great variety of beers on taps. Their system is awesome, as you can try a lot of different beers, at the quantity you want. The serves were very helpful and friendly. The prices seemed fair. It's a must visit taproom for sure!
