What a wonderful evening we had here on the Zuiddijk. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant. We thoroughly enjoyed the carpaccio, which was beautifully served with generous slices of cheese. The rest of the dishes were also of top quality and tasted excellent. It is highly recommended for anyone looking for a good dinner in Zaandam. We will certainly be back here again.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here. With 11 people, we had a delicious meal. Fantastic meat and fish. So tasty! Everyone enjoyed it. Beautiful wines to go with it. Absolutely top-notch! Service was excellent. Highly recommended. We had a wonderful evening.

Spacious restaurant, with a terrace in the summer overlooking the Zaan/lock. Great host, extensive menu, and fine wine list. I have come here from Hoorn about 6 times in recent years and have never been disappointed. Excellent value for money. In short, highly recommended.

Exceptional Host - An example of true hospitality from the beginning to the end. Best host ever! Amazing food - beautifully balanced flavors and tasty food. Got the scallops and lobster ravioli which were sooooo nice. Then a phenomenally juicy tuna steak and amazingly tasty chicken poisson. Deserts looked delicious though we skipped. Atmosphere - relaxed and very nice and friendly. Totally recommend it! I will visit again in my next trip to zaandam.

A wonderful experience tonight at Castell! The welcome was fantastic, the cuisine inventive, the cooking perfectly executed, and the flavors beautiful. Serving snails in Amsterdam was a bold move, but what a treat! Bravo to the entire dynamic and attentive team!

We had the pleasure to organise a family event in Castell and it was a delight. Starting with a warm welcoming and caring staff. You then enjoy delicate and well source ingredients which were perfectly cooked. The attention to details and the quality of the food makes it a little gem in the heart of Zaandam. We had a wonderfull time in this restaurant. The stuff is the most polite people i have ever seen in restaurant, the food was perfect amount and taste and desert was tasty. The prices are maybe bit higher but it really is worthy for celebration or some fancy dinner. 100% recommend

We have been coming here for years. The food is delicious and affordable; I would happily eat here every day. The atmosphere is good, and the people and staff are nice. People who have had gastric bypass surgery can also easily come here.

Oh, how wonderful! The staff knows how to give you an excellent experience. They are very welcoming and have extensive knowledge of the dishes and drink pairings. The wine selection is extensive, with a good combination of meat and fish. The menu isn't overly extensive, which I actually like. This allows you to focus on your main dishes. This was evident when we were presented with it. Do you know the phenomenon of melting in your mouth? We experienced it here. Excellently cooked and prepared to your liking. Recommended: v- Carpaccio, h- Tenderloin, na- Dame Blanche Advocaat See you next time! Tip: perhaps spruce up the exterior a bit for a more chic vibe.

A real night out! It was our first visit. Besides the delicious food, the warm welcome where you can hang your coat, and the friendly service, we were also struck by the calm atmosphere among the staff and the good atmosphere. Even when you leave, someone comes with you, gives you your coat, and holds the door open for you. A successful evening!

I dined at this charming restaurant and received a warm welcome from the host. The restaurant has a very diverse menu with delicious dishes. The service was very friendly and attentive. As a meat lover, I went for the T-bone steak and was not disappointed at all! It was cooked exactly as requested. My partner enjoyed the starter and a pasta dish. All in all, a more than excellent place that is well worth a visit.

Classic style restaurant with good food and professional and friendly service. The menu has some interesting bespoke dishes like the cod with Parma ham or the salmon with water melon side.

Very good meat, fresh vegetables, and friendly service. Actually, nothing to complain about; everything was well taken care of, beautifully presented, and tasted perfect. Two downsides: 1) A bit of a shame about the cheap 'cutting board' used as a plate. Such good meat deserves a better base. 2) Ice was put in my whisky without me asking. They only serve (supermarket) blends, so it wasn't a disaster – but you really ought to ask about this. (So I'm also missing a good whisky on the menu)

Staff could not have been anymore attentive and kind. Very friendly and helping! The atmosphere was great, fantastic 90’s music being played so kudos to who chose the playlist. The food and location were great also. Would come back no doubt!

The food was delicious especially the starter oriental carpaccio. The meat was very tasty and tender, the wasabi paste was creamy and the caramelized seeds were really good. Tenderloin stake was very tender served with cucumber and water melon - fits perfectly. A good choice of wine available for every taste (Veneto, Puglia, Rioja…) Service was good and the stuff was very friendly and polite. Best restaurant in Zaandam!

It's not difficult to give the stars, it has been our restaurant for years when we come to Zaandam by boat

In addition to the classic menu, there is also a castle bites menu where you can find very nice and tasty dishes at very reasonable prices.

We ate here twice in a span of one week lol. It is probably one of the best restaurant in Zandaam. Their specialty are the steaks that comes with perfectly seasoned baked potato, and a slice of watermelon. There are many cuts available for you to choose from. It is a cozy restaurant where you can sit comfortably and take your time dining. The staff are very nice and helpful. I will definitely return here again. This place is also suitable for a large gathering as they can arrange the seats for you.

You can't eat such a steak in entire Netherlands. They are far the best!

I had a great experience here this evening. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was kind and attentive. Very relaxed atmosphere, a real gem. I had the ribeye, and went with the standard cook which was medium rare. It was as close to perfect as it gets.

Delicious chef's menu, excellent service

Restaurant frequented mainly by locals, outside the tourist area. We ate the meat based on the reviews and both the quality and cooking were truly excellent. Excellent wine list and excellent table service. A tip: book in advance. The place doesn't have many seats and is always full. We were lucky because we arrived early and they managed to find us a table for three. The owner speaks a little Italian and tries in every way to accommodate the customer. They have an Italian version of the menu to make ordering easier. Truly TOP, super recommended!

The service was very good, friendly and informative. We ordered medium and well-done ribeyes (well-done was due to pregnancy!). First thing - the food comes out on nylon "plates" which remind me of my cutting board at home. These came with all the cuts from previous guests - which gives it a less than premium feel. The baked potatoes were nice but I can't understand why there was so much garlic mayo on top. It's almost as much sauce as potato, it's far too much. The well-done steak was cooked perfectly. The medium, pictured, was practically raw in the middle. I wouldn't mind this with a different cut, but being a ribeye, the fat wasn't rendered at all which made for a very chewy steak.

I loved our evening here. I had the tenderloin steak - thick and juicy and cooked to a nice medium rare. My daughter had beef stroganoff that was delicious. The only thing was they put a lot of garlic mayonnaise or sauce on the baked potato and I wish it had been on the side. The staff were lovely and really attentive and when they found out it was our birthday celebration they brought out desserts with sparklers which was fun. I had emailed ahead of time to find out info and there was quick and helpful response and the reservations were made.

One of the very best, most incredible dining experiences I've ever had. From the second we arrived we were made to feel like VIPs, the service was incredible and the food was even better. Genuinely the nicest steak I've ever had and my Dad and Son both said the chicken was exceptional. The serving staff were all lovely and so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and walked us through the small plates offerings and the main menu. There wasn't a pick left on any of our plates. As we were there celebrating my Dad's 70th birthday, the staff made a big deal for Dad's dessert and everyone sang Happy Birthday to him. Do not miss out on Castell if you're in Zaandam, next time we're back, I wouldn't hesitate to book again!

These men understand what a night out for dinner is. We are used to quite a bit, but it is certainly worth it. Price and quality are right👍

After a day at Zaanse Schans we had dinner at Castell restaurant. We arrived earlier than the agreed time, but that was no problem. What a nice restaurant this is! Nice atmosphere, fantastic food, very friendly service. If we come to the west again, we will definitely eat there. Highly recommended!

I was invited to dine here and beforehand I had the Indian chicken which was very tasty. The T-bone steak is one of the better steaks I have had in a restaurant. I will definitely come back here

Incredible meal, great atmosphere, and amazing service. Özgür is a gem and treated me great giving great advice on the menu and even some tips for enjoying the city. The food was so delicious probably one of the best meals I have had anywhere. They start you out with some warm bread with garlic butter and a few other snacks I added the local draft beer which was nice and cold and very good. I started with the dutch shrimp and they were great followed by the beef filet and fries with some yummy sauces. Just a great night thanks Özgür.

There is a very nice atmosphere from the moment you step in. I saw quite a few people sitting there, all relaxed and happy. I was kindly welcomed by the owner and spent my time at the bar. Read a bit... had a quick meal... and chatted with the staff. Very nice people, you notice that there is a good dynamic. I ate the prawn pil pil here and I really liked it. The shrimp were well fried and not dry

Upon entering you will be warmly welcomed by the host. Your coat is neatly hung up and then neatly guided to your table. The food was very tasty, as if an angel was peeing on your tongue. At this restaurant you really feel like you are king.
