From wow to ow. It's been a while since I've been here. The food is still good, but nothing special. This time we sat on the outdoor terrace instead of inside, a nice change, but it wasn't a choice. It wasn't incredibly busy, but despite that, the service was slow, lacked any proactiveness, and was somewhat clumsy and nonchalant, something you wouldn't expect in this segment.

Always enjoy coming here. Tonight was no exception. The food was, as always, top-notch! The service wasn't what we're used to. After entering, we had to wait a very long time for someone to come to our table to ask if we wanted a drink. The girl was very friendly but didn't really know what she was doing. Drinks took a very long time to arrive. We had to ask for the menu ourselves. The special of the day wasn't mentioned. We weren't asked if we'd like a sandwich beforehand. Taking our order also took a very long time. We had to ask several times during the process if we could order another drink. In short, the food was, as always, absolutely top-notch, but the service this time wasn't what we're used to at this fine restaurant.

Top-notch restaurant. Delicious food at a great price. The ambiance is perfect. Not stuffy, but pleasantly industrial. The service deserves a Hospitality sticker. They are incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. No matter how busy it is, you never have to wait too long. Highly recommended in this area!

People who like good affordable food, go there! Tasty small dishes of which two are usually enough. Delicious wines. As for beer, still something to be desired, no triple or double or quadruple available, but some from the Gooise brewery and skumkopke on tap. Today we had another delicious meal.

Although it's been a few years, I finally ate here again. Great! Highly recommended. Tonight the scallops were the chef's recommendation. Delicious. A very soft finish. The rillette chicken was also very good. Matching wines. Very nice! Quiet ambiance.

Our first time here. Great experience, fast service and fair prices according to a great concept, used to be 3 courses for 39 but that was before Corona. Tip nice 2 dishes pp and share. As is often the case, the cold dishes were a bit better than the warm ones.

Mussenstaat 11 is verdraaid lastig te vinden. Het is gevestigd op een besloten parkeerterrein met ik meen nr 35. Nu weet jij het ook te vinden, maar wil je er ook naartoe? Ik niet meer. Ze werken daar met porties ter grootte van een tussengerecht. Ik zal vast niet de eerste en enige zijn die niet weet hoe groot of klein dit is. Je wordt aangespoort drie gerechten te kiezen. Waardoor je met wat wijn zomaar €180,- aftikt. Eten is uitstekend, de,porties beslist niet te klein. Waardoor onze derde keuze in de keuken kon blijven. Wel betalen natuurlijk. Dit is een knotsgek concept. Van de ingewikkelde uitleg ervan ben je na drie zinnen de kluts en de weg kwijt. Kwaliteit zit ook in de eenvoud, heren!

Industrial building vibe, good food for reasonable prices taking into account Michelin status

What a nice place to go out for an affordable and delicious meal in Hilversum! The industrial buildings on this site have been beautifully renovated and now house attractive catering establishments. The acoustics are not great, but the guests were quiet and relaxed so everything was fine. The dishes were on the small side, but all tasty and not something you see everywhere on the menu. Very suitable for shared dining for 2, there were three of us. The desserts were big again. Overall fine and well paid.

De ruimte heeft een slechte akoestiek. Er zijn geluiddempende panelen opgehangen en studio schuim onder de tafels geplakt, maar het helpt allemaal onvoldoende. We moesten lang wachten op ons eten en de gerechten waren hun prijs niet waard. Personeel is heel aardig en ik mocht aan tafel zelfs wat wijnen voorproeven. Zet er iets meer personeel in en hang wat gordijnen op. Dat geeft veel meer rust. Je loopt met z’n tweeën €180 lichter de deur uit. Met dergelijke prijzen lijkt me die investering gemakkelijk te doen.

Hopelessly bad acoustics, ingredients drown in the sauce and are therefore indistinguishable in taste, transparent marketing formula by taking (too) much money out of your pocket with small bites. Not recommended

I occasionally allow myself to go out for an extensive meal alone, and deliberately only once, so that I can fully concentrate on the food and wines. I often sit with my eyes closed and enjoy the food, wine and buzz. That worked out very well last week at Chef aan de Werf! Nice location, alert, friendly and knowledgeable staff. When you are asked upon arrival 'are you Jurgen van der Poel, the pianist?', then things can't go wrong! The acoustics are reasonable, but could be better. The dishes are intermediate courses and that is a nice size. I started with the sesame cylinder filled with tuna tartare. Very tasty, where everything is perfectly coordinated. The smoked duck breast was excellently prepared and of good quality. The layout was somewhat austere. The highlight of the evening for me was the veal steak, buttery tender and highly recommended! Then a beautiful cheese board with special cheeses. The recommended wines paired nicely with the various dishes. Had a great evening, worth repeating and definitely recommended!

Nothing wrong with the food, but also nothing special. For some weird reason the Dutch hardly use any acid in their dishes, which makes them come across thick, dense compact and fatty. It's the first time getting a ceviche served without any lime juice. The dish tasted allright, but - lacked the acid. The Duck would also have benefitted from an acidic component, which it lacked entirely. Duck is also traditionally served with something sweet, which would help the duck meat flavours to come out properly. The veal was the best dish of the evening, delicately seasoned. The diamanthaas came served on a baked onion with a large piece of melting butter, which made the total fattyness of the dish over the top. Also, the highly dense sauce could again have benefitted from a component bringing in freshness in the dish. Pompoen side dish was tasteless and boring, the salad side was OK. All that said; all food was in general good, but a few simple ingredients and cooking tricks could have brought the dishes properly to life. But hey, it is the Netherlands. Simple wine list with focus on having wine from many different countries. I would have liked to have some more classic white options on the list. The Nebbiolo was good though.

Heerlijk eten en dito wijnen. Goede en vriendelijke service, en fijne plek om te zitten; zowel binnen als buiten. Vooral de zeer smakelijke en bijzondere vegetarische gerechten verdienen een 10. En een goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding.

Dining at Chef aan de Werf is a delightful experience that deserves high praise. This charming restaurant offers excellent value for money, matched by the superb quality of its food and the creativity of its cuisine. We savored the Gekonfijte krokant gebakken procureur and the Diamanthaas van Iers-rund for our mains, both of which were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The sides, including the crispy Verse frietjes van de Patat Generatie and fresh Haricot verts, complemented the mains beautifully. Dessert was a heavenly conclusion with the Clafoutis van perzik en amandel and the indulgent Huisgemaakte koek en chocolade. The decor is thoughtfully curated, enhancing the dining experience with a warm and inviting ambiance. The only thing that could elevate the atmosphere further is some gentle background music. Service was impeccable. The waitstaff were knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, making sure we felt welcome and well-attended throughout our meal. They were also happy to accommodate us in English, which we greatly appreciated. Overall, Chef aan de Werf offers a memorable dining experience with top-notch food, excellent service, and a cozy yet stylish setting. Highly recommended!

Restaurant with a bib. Some kind of fusion between Dutch and modern Some courses were underwhelming spices. That is the Dutch part I guess. Pushed alcoholic beverages, without telling how much.

Our regular address when we want to have a delicious dinner. Staff is always hospitable and cheerful. In addition, the dishes are always good and they have a surprising menu. On the terrace you look out over the harbor of Veere, super cozy. Highly recommended.

Excellent shared-dining experience yesterday evening! Friendly service & staff- Quality & combination of all the ingredients was great and led to explosive tastes in mouth. 🙂 Something to be mindful of is that the kitchen closes at 21:30. Original place for a restaurant and ditto menu. Small dishes to create a beautiful meal. Delicious wine. The only downside is the acoustics.

Food was fine. The female service was unfriendly and unprofessional. You don't expect this from restaurants at this price level.

Aanrader!! Zeker gaan eten, rustige sfeer, goede akoestiek en bediening en heerlijk eten!

Sfeervolle plaats om bijzonder en heerlijk te eten. De gerechten hebben een 'tussen' formaat waardoor je meerdere smaaksensaties kunt nemen. Goede wijnselectie en enkele originele bieren. Het personeel is vriendelijk en attent.

Heerlijk en fantastisch verzorgd eten

We hadden op basis van de recensies hoge verwachtingen en waren blij verrast dat we gebeld werden dat er een plek vrij was gekomen van de wachtlijst. Het eten was heerlijk, zeer verfijnde smaken en alles goed op elkaar afgestemd. Vooral de Chef'Special van tonijn was erg lekker en een aanrader ook met de verdejo-wijn erbij. Wat ons erg tegenviel was de lange wachttijd tussen de gerechten. Na 90 minuten hadden we alleen een klein broodje vooraf en ons 1e gerecht, na 2u kregen we het 2e gerecht, dit verbaasde ons en zorgde ervoor dat we minder konden genieten. Als reactie kregen we te horen dat er teveel mensen tegelijkertijd binnen kwamen (dan heb je o.i. iets verkeerd gedaan in de planning!?) en dat er maar twee personen in de keuken aanwezig waren. Het was fijn geweest als dit was medegedeeld dan hadden we er rekening mee kunnen houden en een andere ervaring gehad. Nu is onze conclusie dat het eten meer dan heerlijk is maar we niet nogmaals terug zullen komen.

Heerlijke gerechten, prachtig opgemaakt. Wat kleinere porties dus je kunt lekker veel proeven. Prima bediening, gezellig zonder poeha. Lekkere drankjes, kortom: een avond genieten. Akoestiek kan iets beter.

Wat goed toch dat ondernemers iets moois maken van ons industrieel erfgoed . Café Amsterdam was een van de eersten en is nog steeds succesvol. Wij vonden ambiance en sfeer prima. Het is moeilijk een restaurant te beoordelen aan de hand van enkele gerechten, maar toch: prima gerechten, niet verfijnd ( puree op de zeekraal en daarop de schol wordt een prakje) maar goed van smaak. Lieve bediening, leuke wijnkaart met best veel per glas. Wie twee gerechten neemt betaalt 32-35 euro en dan is papieren servet te verdedigen. Wie 3 gerechten neemt betaalt 45-54 euro, met brood en frites zelfs tot 60 euro; dat valt binnen het Bib gourmand concept, maar dan zouden wij een gewoon servet weer bijbehorend vinden. Dat is het dilemma van het concept van de kleinere gerechten.

Het was mooi weer en vandaar dat het terras de plek was om te zitten. Binnen was niet mogelijk. Begrijpelijk. Alleen het terras is niet veel bijzonders. Je zou wat meer sfeer verwachten bij een restaurant ven dit kaliber. Maar dat gezegd hebbende...de avond was heerlijk. Het eten en de wijn. De vriendelijke, vlotte bediening. Alles was goed.

Ons favoriete restaurant. Altijd top kwaliteit eten tegen een goede prijs. Fijne bediening en leuke sfeer in een leuke moderne industriële locatie.

Dineren in een farmaceutische setting, industrieel gebouw met historie dat is restaurant Chef aan de Werf. Noem het intuïtie maar niet eerder voelde ik de behoefte om hier (ondanks aanraden van vrienden) heen te gaan. Toch heb ik mij dit jaar laten overhalen en hoewel ik waardeer dat hier met goede ingrediënten, puur wordt gekookt en de service absoluut prima is, waren de gerechten (op de zalm na) te vlak en niet verrassend. Komt bij dat voor mij de sfeer mist. Het moet je smaak zijn om in een een hal te dineren (dicht op elkaar), waar het toen wij er waren echt veel te warm was. Het terras kijkt uit op een industrieel ogende (binnen)plaats. Niet per se een plek waar je lang en gezellig tafelt. En laat dit laatste nou net iets zijn wat ik graag doe. Mij werd gevraagd welk gerecht ik het lekkerst vond. De kaas, van Echte liefde te Hilversum.

Keurige bediening, heerlijk gegeten, goede prijs

Heel erg lekker gegeten op een heerlijk terras. Nooit geweten dat een zo’n leuk restaurant zit op deze plek in Hilversum. Echt een aanrader.

Update 1 juni 2023. We zijn weer wezen eten. De smaken waren weer voortreffelijk. Aanbeveling is de Tonijn. Zie ook de foto's. Omdat mijn dochter van dit restaurant een groot fan is, hadden wij een diner gekregen. Helaas door covid bijna twee jaar geen gebruik van kunnen maken. Vorige week eindelijk weer wel. En dat was genieten. De locatie is uniek en rustig gelegen. Het personeel oogt jong, maar is ervaren en werkt efficiënt. Nu over het eten: de kaart bestaat uit kleine gerechtjes van ongeveer de grootte van een voorgerecht. Fantastisch opgemaakt en belangrijker, alles heerlijk van smaak. Wij weken af van de kaart door een chef special te kiezen. Gamba's en coquilles in een heerlijke frisse dressing. Gevolgd door Dorade (voor mijn vrouw) en eende borst voor mij. Dit alles begeleid door een mooie rosé wijn. En afgesloten met o.a. een heerlijk kaasplank je. Bijzondere in deze is dat je die zelf kan samenstellen. Bio en lokaal staat bij Chef hoog op de agenda. Topper en wordt herhaald.

Valt in een woord samen tevatten: GE-WEL-DIG!

Over het algemeen echt goed eten en vriendelijke bediening. (Er is nog nooit een kok gevonden, die kan koken naar alle monden) Prijspeil iets boven gemiddeld.

Heerlijk gegeten! De kaart bestaat uit wat kleinere gerechten die je ook zou kunnen delen. Deel dus zelf in wat een voor- tussen- of hoofdgerecht wordt. Goeie kwaliteit, lekkere gerechten en fijne service!

Al vaker heerlijk gegeten. Mooi pand en gezellige sfeer.

We zitten nog na te genieten van het shared-dinner concept. Wat was het lekker !! Goede en smaakvolle variatie en ruim voldoende voor iedereen. Het dessert was hemels. Ook de bediening was heel goed en vriendelijk. We komen zéker terug.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant, which I wish I had discovered earlier since moving to Hilversum. Honestly the only place in Hilversum that could also be located in London, New York or indeed Amsterdam. Great presentation of dishes (with a special mention for the ice cream bucket...), great flavors, good wine list and some of the best service I have encountered in the Netherlands so far. Will be back many times, despite the slightly out of the way location.

Zeer smakelijk, vriendelijke bediening, mooi pand - topper in Hilversum! Concept is 2 a 3 gerechtjes p.p. a ong. 15 euro p/s. Biologisch en lokaal lijken speerpunten. Vegetarische opties. Opvallend vond ik dat het 0.0 bier (bijna) even duur wordt verkocht als bier met alcohol

We hadden heel wat verwacht: " Michelin bib gourmand, Gault et Millau veel positieve recensies maar we hebben niet lekker gegeten. Het eten was veel te vet!

Verlaat kerstdiner gegeten met familie. Heerlijke ontspannen sfeer met een bijzonder prettige bediening. De gerechten waren stuk voor stuk heerlijk. Mooi opgemaakt met een fijne balans in smaak maar ook verassend. Een echte aanrader in Hilversum!

My advice to anyone discovering this restaurant for the first time would be a mouvement en trois temps: 1- Be all ears to the chef suggestions 2- Open up to local wines 3- Maintain ample capacity ahead of the dessert menu

This establishment was referred to us by our host at Villa Trompenberg just down the road. In fact our host called the restaurant as we were not able to book on line. Not an easy place to find, we were surprised it was fully booked on Tuesday night. Sitting outside with our friends, the atmosphere was very relaxed and service of a high standard. Our French friends were delighted with their choices and so were we. Small dishes with a fantastic combination of product and flavours. We ordered some extra vegetables and what we received exceeded our expectations in variety and flavours. The wine selection was also carefully matched with some beautiful French Gamay. Next time we are in Hilversum, we will certainly go back!

Was een hele poos geleden dat ik hier was. Gezelschap vaker overigens incl mijn vrouw. Gelukkig:eten blijft onveranderd goed en van een hoog niveau. Inmiddels kan ik na professionele wijnstudie afgelopen jaren via WSET ed ook wijnkaarten beter beoordelen en is mij hier opgevallen dat het onder de maat is; wit : of vlak of veel hout; rood: eigenlijk alleen krachtpatsers en mi ( doch ook man van gezelschap die professioneel in de wijnen zit) te zwaar voor de gerechten geserveerd. Zou meer evenwichtig moeten zijn. Aandachtspunt!
