We had Mixed Vegetable Curry and Aloo Jeera. Both meals were delicious. They were seasoned differently, and everything was frehly made. The owner was serving us, and he was kind and explained everything. We could choose how spicy the dish was made. We have been to a lot of Indian Restaurants during the last 30 years, and these meals were among the best tasting of all. Since they are only just starting as diner (from only cooking and delivering), the remodeling of the interior was not yet complete (May 24). We liked the calmness and simplicity there. The prices are probably on the moderate side, although as Germans we can't really evaluate.

Not one butter chicken is the same, the butter chicken here is one of the best I have ever eaten. Absolutely recommended! The chefs come from India and Sri Lanka and proudly present their own cuisine here in Hilversum. We will come back more often.

We had dinner couple of times at Virundhu. We really liked the food. We wanted the similar tasty food for our housewarming function as well. So we ordered food from Virundhu for our function. Everyone of our guest liked the food and also had great compliments about the food. The guests were eager to know where the restaurant is. We are also happy with everything.

I had dinner here last Sunday evening and I was pleasantly surprised by the menu. Many South Indian dishes of which we ate the dosa chicken curry, paratha mutton curry, samosas, fried chicken and some kind of donuts made from rice and lentils. Everything tasted fantastic and we received very good advice and help. Highly recommended to eat here and I will definitely come back!

Absolutely loved the vegetable biryani here! The flavors were rich and aromatic, with a perfect blend of spices that didn't overpower the fresh vegetables. The rice was cooked to perfection, fluffy and light. Generous portions and friendly service added to the delightful experience. Highly recommend to anyone craving an authentic and delicious vegetarian meal.

I had order various dishes, all are to it’s special. They also serve versatile biriyani and it’s one of their best and in Hilversum.

We had a small get together in the restaurant. For a group of 20 odd a good place for gathering and we had a very nice experience with that was decided.

Was there for a job, but around dinner time. The food itself was ok, just way too spicy, but when I got to the kitchen, it was NASTY... it almost hurt my neck! So sorry about the food.

Went to this place after reading and hearing good reviews but unfortunately it was a disappointment. Food: At our table we had: Lamb madras - this was possibly the worst lamb madras I’ve ever had. The sauce was just a generic puréed tomato sauce. The lamb had obviously been cooked separately and added to the sauce. The whole dish was over salted. Naan: the naan was soggy and limp Masala dosa: the potato filling was not spiced correctly and the sambhar was too thick, more like a generic dal curry The one dish that was good was the chilli paneer. Service: Service is well meaning and friendly but inefficient. We had to ask repeatedly for glasses for our water, cutlery, dishes to be cleared, the bill etc Atmosphere: We ate in, it is like eating at a takeaway kebab place, minimal canteen type atmosphere. The prices though are the same if not higher than the most expensive indian restaurants in Hilversum. Conclusion - if you are looking for authentic indian in Hilversum - there are better places to try. Looking at some of the other overly positive reviews - this place is obviously buying reviews.

Virundhu as name suggests it’s really great feast to have food from there I am big fan of Briyani and koothu parota I am regular customer of Briyani from restaurant and on a weekly basis Yesterday I tired Chicken Koothu Parota it was awesome and quantity was good enough to have more than one person We enjoyed having the food with an authentic taste from Madurai A must visit for a dinner!!

Wat een verrassing in hartje Hilversum. Moeilijk te vinden op Google. Het staat onderaan de lijst met Indiase restaurants. Maar wat is Virundhu ("feest" in Tamil) een feest voor de liefhebbers van de Zuid - Indiase en Srilankaanse keuken. Maar ook de liefhebber van de Noord - Indiase en de Indo - Chinese keuken komt aan zijn trekken. Er is een uitgebreide menukaart met ontiegelijk veel keuzes, zowel vegetarisch, niet vegetarisch als veganistisch. Het ene gerecht nog exotischer dan het andere. Het personeel is erg aardig, behulpzaam en snel. Meestal in het Engels. Het interieur is ok, maar niet heel sfeervol. Toen wij er waren werkt de wc niet goed en vond ik het daar niet schoon uitzien. Dat behoeft wel verbetering. Terug naar het eten. Vooraf had ik Gobi Manchurian. Een gerecht uit de Indo Chinese keuken. De pittigheid was precies zoal gevraagd: medium. Heerlijk van smaak en lekker knapperig. Als hoofdgerecht had ik Idli met chicken curry. De idli's waren mooi groot en stevig. De curry was heerlijk van smaak, ook medium pittig zoals gevraagd. Mals stukjes kip in een curry die denk ik uit de Chettinad regio van Tamil Nadu afkomstig is. Een aanrader! De topper was wel de warme amandelmelk (Badam) met kruiden (o.a. kardemom). Echt lekker! Jammer dat de hete melk in een long drink glas geserveerd werd. Dat konden we lang niet vast houden. Dat kan beter in een theeglas met oor. En als klap op de vuurpijl: het kassabonnen. Voor 20e pp eet je hier al je buikje vol met de heerlijkste exotische lekkernijen.

Amazing South Indian food, specifically Tamil style food. The parottas and biryani are really good and tasted authentic. I highly recommend this place.

Authentic Indian food and quite affordable. I went with a group of colleagues from Chennai in India and they loved the food. Service was fast. I saw lot of Indians eating here and that says it all.

Vandaag om 17.41 uur besteld via UberEats. Levering was om 19.15 uur. Werd wel om 18.50 gebeld dat het er aan zou komen. Voor een woensdag wel lang wachten. De butter chicken was heerlijk, evenals de bijbehorende rijst. De Chicken Garlic Tikka was lekker gekruid, de saus vond ik iets minder lekker. De garlic naan was helaas koud en hierdoor waarschijnlijk dus erg stug, jammer. Al met al een prima maal, weet niet of ik er nog eens zal bestellen.

Friends have been recommending this restaurant for a while. Tried last Sunday - Tasty food with very warm service. Chilli chicken and kothu Parota were too good and authentic. Recommended and will visit again.

Food was very good but huge delay, very late to serve, they take close to 40 minutes to bring the food to the table. If you have lots of time, this place is a must to try chettinad style chicken, mutton dishes. Of course take care of the parking.

If you want real South Indian food in Hilversum, Virundhu is goto place! I have here multiple times and each time is better than last time…

Gisteren op aanraden met een groep collega's wezen eten. We zijn zeer hartelijk ontvangen en het eten was echt heerlijk! Je ziet en proeft dat deze mensen een passie hebben voor hun zaak. Gezien we nog wat eten over hadden (zeer genereuze porties) is de rest voor ons verpakt om mee naar huis te nemen. Als ik weer in Hilversum ben zeker een aanrader.

After a recommendation we went to try out Virundhu and ordered a variety dishes. Almost everything was perfectly on taste level. Even the spice level was perfectly balanced. The chicken 65 as starter was perfectly crunchy, not oily and the taste was sublime! Their main dish briyani can be confirmed to be the best which we have tried in the netherlands! The taste of the spices were literally soaked in to the briyani, delicious! The lamb curry surprised us positive. Not oily and taste and spice level were perfectly balanced. This in combination with the Garlic Naan is a golden combination. The Naan was perfectly done! We also had a eelai parotta with chicken. A very surprising dish, again perfectly balanced. At last the gulab jamun. This one came warm and I have to say the best ones I have had in my entire life! Delicious food!

This place is a must try for anyone that wishes to taste authentic South Indian cuisines in this part of NL. Everything tasted so delicious. Service was refreshingly good. One of those rare occurrences when we personally congratulated the chef! I will go again even though I need to drive 30 minutes to get there 😃. Thumbs up and best wishes for further growth!

Me and my friends visited Virundhu for dinner. Food was great. Service is good. Lot of variety available for North and South Indians.

New Restaurant in Hilversum for some authentic South Indian taste , I go 5 star for thier food and taste , just have to stick with four to improve on thier service and crowd management !!!

A wonderful recommendation from a friend. Every dish served (veg and Non-veg) was absolutely delicious. The color, the flavours, the service everything was top. The people who run the restaurant are very kind. Since we share the same language we had a good time interacting with them, we laughed, we smiled. I personally recommend trying the Elai Parotta, Briyani, Egg Bonda and tea. Loved it. Your visit to this wonderful restaurant will not be a disappointment for sure.
