We arrived around dinnertime for a drink. Felt awkward as we weren't ready for dinner yet.

The food, the atmosphere, and the staff: 10/10! These Frisians will definitely be back!

We visited as a group. We arrived later than our restaurant reservation and apologized for rushing the service due to our next scheduled appointment. The main pork dish was absolutely delicious. I would definitely like to visit again on my own time, rather than for work.

A really cool restaurant with a great decor and a really fun and delicious menu! Because it was our first wedding anniversary, they even made a surprise dessert for us and the kids at my request. So cool! Thanks for the lovely evening!

The interior is lovely. The food was beautifully presented and delicious, and the female staff were very kind. I enjoyed a short conversation in Japanese. I've had quite a few flies in other restaurants in the Netherlands, but that wasn't the case here. This was the best restaurant I had during my stay! Thank you!

We had a wonderful meal at De Ar. The weather was beautiful, so we enjoyed the outdoors. We had the free-range menu with the Brink family. It was so delicious. Highly recommended! We live in Westerbork, so we'll definitely be back. FANTASTIC!

The food was delicious. Delicious satay and mustard soup. The service was quick and efficient. The price-quality ratio is excellent. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a bygone era.

Unique decor that brings the past to life. Hospitality: 10. It's a bit of a dark space, but you'll be amazed by everything on display, bringing the past and your own childhood memories back to life! The photos say it all!

Nice place and attentive girls in the service

Nice staff. Price quality ratio was definitely good. Enough to eat and various things were replenished when it was gone. Really ok. Cozy interior with old stuff. A nice big table with 6 people. Great. A downside I found was that it was really dark inside, a bit more light would have been nice in my opinion.

As someone who's born in the late 80s this was like stepping into a time machine and recognizing a lot of stuff my grand mom had. It really is a throwback to old times in the best way. The menu is old skool in options but modern in execution. A very nice mix of traditional dishes with a modern twist. Nice and bold flavors. I especially recommend the Mosterdsoep and Kniepertjesijs 👌 Great staff, in for a laugh. We had a great time.

We wanted to eat here, after we sat down on the terrace a very unfriendly waiter came and said very unfriendly, can that dog go on the other side, we only ordered something to drink which was thrown on the table by the waiter, we then left without eating

Though tempted by dessert, we were far too full to continue—but that only speaks to the generous portions and fulfilling experience. Dining at Restaurant De Ar was, without a doubt, the best restaurant experience I have ever had. If you're looking for a place that serves incredible food with a touch of home, this is the spot. Had a delicious meal here with friends. The food was really very good. Tournedo, meat stew and fish stew. Start with some bread with garlic butter and delicious side dishes. My first time here and a very good choice. This will stay with me for a long time.

If you want to experience the culture of Drenthe, if you like good food in a cozy atmosphere, go to Restaurant de Ar in Westerbork. In the summer a beautiful terrace is highly recommended if you visit Drenthe. The brown beans with bacon are still reserved here, taste it for yourself, good service, tasty beers and an excellent wine list. Recommended Kniepertjes ice cream, that's so delicious!

A very special place for lunch: De Ar in Westerbork. Immediately upon entering you wonder: is it a restaurant or a museum? Well: it's both there! A very original design as an old farm with 'museum pieces', which gives you a very nice atmosphere. Of course there is much more to try: in our case a delicious Farmer's Omelette with egg, pepper, onion, mushrooms and bacon on a brown Haler Es bun and a Bork Sandwich with fried minced meat, mushrooms, onion and pepper, laced with garlic sauce. All that on a rustic bun. Well: sit back and enjoy it, because both choices provide a generous amount. And yummy… Excellent combinations, accompanied by a white Forte Alto Pinot Grigio and a 'Beer of the moment': Texels Jutters Bock on tap. Of course I also took several photos, so that I could relive the atmosphere after returning home. For example, that 'barber shop where the customer gets shaved'... Naturally, we mention, or rather: praise, the ministry. She builds a bond with the customer in a cheerful and expert manner. Happy to explain what has been served or give recommendations with options. So every reason to come back here again.

Een heel bijzonder restaurant, met ook nog een superlekker eten!! Zo jammer dat we niet dichter in de buurt wonen, maar we kwamen hier tijdens een korte vakantie. Het is alsof je in een museum zit te eten. Zo ontzettend leuk, we hebben onze ogen uitgekeken. En daarbij het eten erg goed, vers en lekker. Als aanrader het limoenijs, met limoncello. Als we nog een keer in de buurt zijn komen we zeker terug!!

Friendly staff and delicious food, that happened again 2 years ago, but it was a private club, we were also informed inside, but we could still get food outside, it was also delivered promptly, but after that we saw no waitress again, did not ask if everything was sufficient or not. we wanted to drink something, nothing at all, so we went inside and asked for some more fries and sure enough, we got fries after waiting half an hour and then also in a paper bag at checkout we said sorry, but there were many customers inside. so we no longer felt like customers. This is a bit of a shame

2jaar terug heerlijk gegeten. Vandaag 18sept ook weer heen geweest. Man man wat een aanfluiting, zo als 2e rangs burgers behandeld. Binnen hadden ze het druk,wij zaten buiten hebben 1drankje kunnen bestellen en het hoofdgerecht geen enkele service meer gehad want binnen was t druk. Veel mensen werden weggestuurd,onvriendelijke ober die nergens op reageerde. Nooit weer daarheen. kok had zm best gedaan eten was goed. Helaas de gast vrijheid ver te zoeken.

It just wasn't all that. Soup and main course were not bad, but the side dishes were substandard. Perfume-flavored applesauce, coleslaw, cut too coarsely, soaked in an indeterminate sauce. Warm vegetables, especially tubers. Not at all appropriate for the main course. And the service is not very interested...

De Ar is an informal café-restaurant, where you can enjoy excellent food. The decoration has a nostalgic appearance. There is also a terrace, where you can relax when the weather is nice. Excellent coffee and the best apple pie in Westerbork made by Chef Johnny. Highly recommended. A new terrace for groups has been added at the rear.

We went in and got a table for 7 people straight away. We got the card straight away, unfortunately it was only available in Dutch, not even in English or German. But that could be clarified with a translator. Then the service didn't understand English either. In addition, the drink sizes weren't on the menu and the brand names weren't there either, which meant that we got Pepsi instead of Cola as it was called on the menu. Well, you overlook the fact that a friend's steak had endless tendons, which is an absolute no-go for every steak lover. Otherwise the fries and the rest were pretty mediocre. We also received plates with sauces and vegetables. I wouldn't go there again for a steak but the rest was okay in terms of value for money.

When you enter the restaurant you feel like you are in another century. Furnished like a Dutch museum with great attention to detail. The "Saté van Kipfilet" and the "Stoofpotje van Rund" were very tasty and were served by a very friendly, attentive staff. We will definitely see each other again on our next visit to Westerbork. During our bike ride we stopped at the Ar for lunch. My dining companion opted for the fried egg with seasoned minced meat, I had the farmer's pancake. Both tasted delicious, and the portions were such that we were stuffed afterwards. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We sat on the terrace. Just walked inside to use the toilet. I understand that many people really like the museum feeling here, but this is just not my taste.

Had coffee on Sunday May 26, it was 1 minute past 4, you ask can I get 2 croquettes from the lunch menu (was on the table), answer by an unfriendly waiter, no, the kitchen is closed. Complete nonsense, he wanted us to eat from the dinner menu. There is just a cook in the kitchen. Bitterballen are scandalously expensive, €1.25 per bitterbal. Not customer friendly at all. Never come here again.

Wat een fantastische, bijzondere plek om te dineren! Het voelt alsof je in een museum aan het eten bent. Het restaurant is ingericht met allerhande voorwerpen uit vroeger tijden. De super vriendelijke, behulpzame serveerster gaf gratis uitleg bij van alles, echt heel aardig. Het teen stond vlot op tafel en was heerlijk. Echt een unieke belevenis.
