Had a lovely meal here with the whole family. I understand that Theo and Kees are now going to enjoy their well-deserved (early) retirement and stop. Thanks!

Just a few more days, and then at the end of 2024, the Ark will close after many years of hospitality and delicious meals. Kees, Ugly, and Theo, thank you very much and enjoy your retirement.🥰

Atmospheric, delicious coffee but the apple pie was very disappointing, dry and hard.

It's been good there for 35 years

The food is fine, but unfortunately, the portions are small, not enough. The starters are ridiculously overpriced, they've never heard of customer service, and the waiter is arrogant and rude. I couldn't get an answer when I asked if they had Italian wine; he only had white and red. He also didn't know anything about the portion sizes for the main course. It takes ages to get your drinks because they think they can handle everything with just two people without any staff, which is absolutely not the case! It takes so long that you get bored, which definitely doesn't encourage you to come back. Even after calling twice, no one came to take the last plate of the main course or dessert, so we just left. The restaurant is attractively decorated and has a homey feel. Unfortunately, we won't be returning!

Super friendly staff and amazing couple. The dog ugly met us outside and was super sweet. Even though we only drank a beer they welcomed us with open arms. Thank you. The guy from Texas

Delicious champagne breakfast With lots of rolls ...and toppings.

Warme geserveerde groenten waren een prakkie. Garnaaltjes in de pasta waren niet ontdarmd. Salade bestond uit twee schijfjes ei en 2 schijfjes tomaat. Saus bij de schnitzel waren enkele soeplepels. Prijs-kwaliteit was niet in overeenstemming. Een echte afknapper. Tenue van de kok was groezelig en bevlekt. Geen toonbeeld van keukenhygiene.

When I try to make a reservation, am I treated arrogantly and refused because I am calling from a protected number?? Customer friendliness is hard to find.

We were here with the camper in 2012, 2018 and now 2024 (so every 6 years) Stayed 2 nights safely behind the gate. Thank you Kees and Theo for your hospitality. Had a delicious meal there. The venison steak was wonderfully tender and the Rendang was superb. Tip...maybe choose rice instead of fries. Hug v Ugly

The spareribs and schnitzel were delicious. You get a lot of food and for a good price. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The free camper place with electricity and water was a great bonus, which made our stay extra comfortable. Theo the owner is incredibly friendly. We would love to come back here!

The food was all prepared and was on the table in 5 minutes. It was well heated in the microwave. There was no dressing on the preheated vegetables. The salmon was fresh, too bad they didn't have dill sous or something that comes with it, and the owner's dog was running around in the restaurant, too bad!!

perfecte plek om op doorreis te overnachten! het eten én de wijn bij de Ark was echt geweldig lekker én voor een redelijke prijs. hele aardige eigenaren. jammer dat we zo ver van het restaurant vandaan wonen….

Met een familie van 7 personen hier zijn gaan eten. Toen iemand een icetea green kreeg terwijl er een normale Icetea besteld was en ze dit aangaf werd ze bestempeld als leugenaar. Toen ze uiteindelijk toch haar gelijk kreeg en de bediening haar glas Icetea green weg wilde halen ging dit behoorlijk geïrriteerd waardoor het glas om viel en alles onder het drinken zat. Tijdens het uitserveren zat de kok te snotteren en te hoesten. Toen mijn saus van mijn bord om viel doordat de bediening wat neer wilde zetten likte hij boven mijn hoofd zijn arm af “hmm lekker sausje”. Al het eten leek gefrituurd te zijn en de pasta was niet goed gekookt. Ook vroegen we voor een bordje eten voor een dreumes, wat mocht het zijn, de kleine at alles. Oké zou voor gezorgd worden. Eenmaal dat iedereen het eten had kreeg de kleine een leeg bord en moesten wij allen maar wat van ons eten op zijn bordje leggen (geen probleem natuurlijk, maar niet zoals besteld). Er liep ook een hond in het restaurant, nou zijn wij niet de moeilijksten. Maar deze hond heeft tijdens het eten onder onze tafel geplast… voor ons nooit meer

Truly a restaurant with atmosphere and good food for a reasonable price

The Ark is a bit like coming home. Intimate, cozy, "among us", no nonsense. But delicious dishes. Nice portions, and if you have too much... Then you get it in a nice container.

Delicious rendang and fish fillet with fries, potato/vegetable mix and salad. Uniquely attractively decorated with cheerful and friendly service. And that for a modest price. Definitely recommended if you are in the area!

Tja, ronduit slecht. Snap de 5ster beoordeling van anderen echt niet. Moet haast familie of bekenden zijn. Er rookte iemand ergens in de het gebouw, waarschijnlijk in de keuken, dit was te ruiken in het restaurant. Liep een hond door het restaurant. Er hing snot uit een van een niet verzorgde mannelijke bediende (gok de 'kok', hij was namelijk in het 'wit' gekleed) die een andere tafel bediende. Toen wilde ik direct weg. Ze krijgen nog twee sterren, omdat de jonge bediening zichtbaar hun best deden. Beetje medeleven dus, anders zeker 1 gekregen van mij. We kregen brood wat zo uitgedroogd was, dat het leek alsof het uit de prullenbak kwam. Niet meegegaan met de tijd. Het is een schnitzel-tent uit 1985, met de prijzen van nu.

Wonderful to have the champagne breakfast on Sunday morning, well taken care of with everything you expect from a breakfast... then a few more Trappists and after this we chatted with our hosts Kees & Theo, very nice and very hospitable people 👍👍👍 Keep up the good work.

After fifteen years we visited these two hosts again. We were way too late for breakfast but we still got it. And this breakfast was good with a wide choice of all kinds of 'real Sunday things'. We could supplement if we wanted because we were explicitly told that we had to eat well. We did not feel like customers but guests, something that is becoming increasingly rare these days. We will return soon on a Sunday, but on time, for an unhurried breakfast in a homely atmosphere and with a chat :-)

In tegenstelling tot de prima hertenbiefstuk, was de nagenoeg even dure Sate van de haas een aanfluiting. In een pannetje laffe en smakeloze pindasaus dreven kort gesneden zompige stukjes culinaire (=30% water) varkenshaas. Eerder gekookt dan gebakken of gegrild. Nog nooit zo'n slechte Sate geserveerd gekregen

After 10 years, I returned to this restaurant with friends for brunch. We stayed at a nearby campsite for years. We always went to panties day and paws day and also Sunday brunch. It's still a good time and it's all delicious.

We tried to make a reservation with a larger group of people based on the good reviews. It was made clear on the phone in a most unfriendly manner that they apparently do not want any customers. We prefer to spend our money in a place where you as a customer feel welcome.

We had lunch with 2 adults and 3 kids at this place. The restaurant itself looks cozy although a bit outdated in some areas. The entrance is really low (1.60 or so) but fortunately has some pillowing(??) at the top to stop you banging your head. The dresscode of the staff is 'different' to say the least. The chef and waiter were both sporting Nike sweat pants over their white chef clothing and loud colourful shirt respectively. We ordered, among other drinks, some tea and instead of being offered some different tea flavors, we got served green tea, with the teabag already dunked in the cup. The amount of extra's that came with the coffee and tea was very extensive (cookie, small bar of chocolate, some fudge). However, they also included a small glass with some whipped cream on top of some Advocaat. This was also present with the tea of my kids which is a no-no in my book. The food choices are 'special' to see the least. 3 of us had 'Keesjes burger' and all 3 had different sorts of vegetables on or next to our burger including slices of carrot, an occasional green bean, cauliflower, broccoli and a very large chunk of onion. On top of the burger, within the bun, were slices of potato. My daughter ordered the 'twelve o' clock' and she found, next to the usual ingredients, a complete, unpeeled mandarin on her plate (??) All in all it was a extraordinary experience, but not one we are going to repeat.

This restaurant has a special place in my heart. Both owners, Kees and Theo are fantastic. Very sorry that both are now having health problems. Hang in there and next time on our visit to Holland we will see you both again. Regards, Alexander and Terry

Well, the Ark is the Ark, always pleasant, it is not haute cuisine, but certainly tasty to eat.

It wasn't busy. No greeting. We were not asked if we wanted something to drink. After a long wait we received a menu. After that still no order was taken. We went.

We were not treated nicely. When we came in there was no room even though we had made a reservation. We were called liars. We were able to sit down quickly enough. After a long wait for the menu and drinks, we asked for the menu. We didn't get that. Just had to be patient. Was very customer unfriendly

After all the good reviews here about the friendly gentlemen, we went to the Ark with great enthusiasm. When we arrived there, it was made clear to us in anything but friendly terms that we were not welcome with dogs. And no, you are not allowed to sit on the terrace, it was also stated very clearly. Uhm okay....preferably not to work on Easter for sure. Everything but friendly and no more Ark for us.

We spent the night at the restaurant with the camper even though it was closed. We couldn't eat there, but we know from previous times that it is excellent. It won't be any different.

I can't rate it on restaurant. I was only here to have a glass of soft drink with a friend after a brisk walk. Comfortable atmosphere. I can't say more about it.

The put together interior actually makes it cozy. Deserves a professional approach in terms of interior and kitchen. But for a short visit it's fine.

super cozy appearance. food was good, but very little sauerkraut with the haxe and very salty sauce. Due to the crowds, the service paid virtually no attention to us and other guests. had to ask for almost everything. but still 4 stars because we could understand the situation. Stumbled upon this place by chance and had a good meal. Kees ordered a tasting and received plenty of food. The three of us couldn't finish it. I received half the roast rooster to take home in a container and today I made delicious chicken soup with it. Throwing it away is a shame ❤️

The tasting was really disappointing. We had a completely different idea about this. We got a very large bowl with lots of standard snacks. A lot but very basic.

From South Holland aan Zee, a nice week's holiday in Burgundian Brabant, and settled in the woods, near Maarheeze! As previous reviews already made clear to us: You can't go around De Ark, and you don't want to go! After the warm welcome from hosts Kees and Theo, and the dog Ugly, this was served! "Keesjes Tasting", this one, for 4 people! Truly a Culinary Bacchanal! And then I also had the opportunity to experience Theo's peeled shrimp as a starter! The Closing Prayer: May we keep coming back here forever?

Last night I visited the Ark with my partner Jan. Just like that on a drizzly summer Monday evening in July. Well, and whether this would be a successful evening! We were there for the first time and our decision has already been made, this will become a monthly event for us. Nice to meet and have a nice time with Kees, Theo and Ugly. We felt welcomed by both gentlemen and dog Ugly, we had a nice spot in the conservatory of the impressive and historic building. After a delicious soup, we enjoyed the main course. It has been a long time since we had such a delicious meal in a restaurant and it has been just as long since we were served vegetables with the main course. From art! Ice cream for Jan and coffee with Cointreau for me. For me it was just that one cup of coffee, but not that one glass of Cointreau and only five hours after arrival, a nice conversation with Kees and Theo and a tour, we left for home with a very good feeling and decided to continue our journey very soon. to contribute to this more than successful evening. Kees and Theo, you are great! Hugs from us to Ugly and see you soon!

Cozy, staff is not very friendly, especially the boss. They are friendly. Other than that it's a good place to be.

Unfortunately, the gentleman only worked today. When we asked if we wanted something to drink and the answer did not come immediately.... Hop, I have more customers..... So then we think: Fine, we will eat elsewhere ... The plate of frikandel fries from the other table looked nice. Probably wrong time, wrong place.

we are not going to talk about the delicious daily specials at an attractive price, not about your hospitality, not about the space you offer your guests, not about the parking lot that is open to campers, not about the free shower, not about the mobile home with TV and heating, not about the free electricity for the camper, not about the free newspaper under the windshield wiper and not about the coffee completely! We keep quiet, otherwise everyone will come and they won't have room for us anymore.

Big, big ten for this restaurant! We come from the Randstad... what an incredible difference with the South of the Netherlands...... in all areas. What a warm bath, eating in De Ark! Everything, absolutely everything, was great! If the world ends again, I know where we have to go...😜
