Slow kitchen, your digestion works faster. "Unlimited spareribs" is actually not worth the effort or the wait. With the first batch, you get two, then one. But, people! What a long time passes between these. An earlier review stated that the speed was an issue. That was 6 months ago. In the meantime, no improvement has been observed as far as I am concerned. The serving staff is otherwise nice, but the kitchen could be faster.

Delicious food and friendly staff

We decided to sit down here on Monday afternoon. The day meant there were no other visitors. All the greater was our surprise when we found that the floor looked like it certainly hadn't been cleaned, and jam and other sticky mess was all over my table, as well as on the table next to it. We swapped chairs because of the dirt. Jeez, how is this possible? The place is empty and it looks like closing time on Friday. The order was taken incorrectly. An apology was offered, and a replacement was made immediately possible, which was fine. However, then the other person's food is cold again. As is the case with all places these days, the peanut sauce is meager. Barely adequate, and ordering more is definitely necessary.

What can you say at such an amazing restaurant? Compliments, and above all, keep up the good work.

Not the truly great experience like it used to be. Back when you still got spare ribs on a board with fries and salad. When you got two nice, big, long ribs and were full. In 2026, the price has risen considerably, you get half the ribs (almost 2 halves), and they call this 750 grams. Where the satay used to come off the grill individually, but now lies on your plate as a clump of 5 skewers, and when you detach one from the others, you see they are really stuck together, and at the point where they were attached, they are white and ungrilled. I genuinely wondered how they do this back then. But by now, I have a strong suspicion, and it is not good.

I wanted to place a takeaway order and walked inside to do so. Instead of simply taking my order, they made things difficult and had to check first if it was even possible. Eventually, it turned out to be only possible at the higher restaurant prices, even though De Beren simply has a takeaway menu with lower prices. When I asked where I had to pick up my order if I ordered online, it turned out to be exactly the same counter where I was standing. Yet, they refused to accept my order. The only option was to order outside the door via my phone and then walk back inside to pick it up. That is illogical, unfriendly, and completely lacking in customer service. If I am already standing at the counter and picking up the food at the same spot, why can't my order simply be accepted immediately at the takeaway price? Very disappointing service.

As always, the food was delicious.

From the moment of arrival until the moment of departure, you could immediately see that there was a great atmosphere and super friendly staff! The owner is a real asset to De Beren! She completely spoils you and ensures that you want for nothing! And the food was of excellent quality too! Whereas the other De Beren (Rotterdam and Schiedam De Veste) showed up with raw food on almost every visit and were often sent away, it was a breath of fresh air to see that De Beren has everything in order and knows how to treat visitors. They could really learn a thing or two from them regarding how to deal with their customers. It has all become too massive there, but here they have mastered it all! Truly top-notch!!

Dinner lasted 3 hours, mainly due to the long wait times. Service was very poor, very slow, the table was full of empty glasses that were not cleared away, food was not served simultaneously, etc. It seems that only inexperienced staff are employed on weekdays. The restaurant was not even half full. The food is also disappointing these days. For nearly 20 euros, you get 3 meager satay skewers with a little sauce, a small handful of prawn crackers, and a bowl of fries. The prices are actually no longer worth it; with drinks, it goes towards 40.

We ate lunch via Social Deal, and it was a real disappointment. We visit De Beren often, but this was the first and last time. We were served soup in a small peanut bowl, which is normally a large round bowl. Also, the bread under the cappuccino—normally nice dark rustic bread—was served two light brown factory-made sandwiches, both of which were just the crusts of bread. We were so disappointed. Also, there were only two staff members running their legs off inside the restaurant and on the outdoor terrace; that is really unacceptable when you know there is an Ibiza market nearby. In short, not recommended.

i had steak but there was an dark orange sauce on it. I didnt like it and didnt know what it was.. and it was also not on the menu. just give me steak no weird sauce with it. for desert i had an apple crumble i always like it. at other locations but this one.. also horrible. (also the main reason because i really wanted one because in Goes De Beren its always so good) Monts ago we ordered food alse from here but that was so terrible. We wanted to give it another chance... but not again.

just got a Berenburg... man oh man, it was so bad... so much sauce you can't taste the meat. And the artisan fries were, without exception, deep-fried at least 3 times... I just feel ripped off...

I took advantage of the AH dinner for 2 promotion. My expectations were met: a relaxed dining experience, and a large portion that was more than enough for both of us. I enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere, which is partly thanks to Marco and Nikita (team OBL); a genuinely cheerful team that makes guests feel at ease. Thank you for the lovely evening 😁

Together with a good friend of mine, I eat here regularly, and it actually feels like coming home every time. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted warmly, and the service is always enthusiastic, helpful, and genuinely interested. That really makes all the difference. The food is delicious time after time, the portions are generous, and the price-quality ratio is simply excellent. In addition, there is a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that allows you to take your time to enjoy yourself and have a nice chat. For us, De Beren in Oud-Beijerland is a place we will happily keep returning to. Compliments to the entire team for the hospitality and the consistent quality. See you again soon!

Vegetarian satay was not tasty. I pointed this out to the staff. 18.50 was already expensive, but certainly now. Not recommended for eating here. Received the wrong ice tea and there were no colored pencils for the children's coloring page. I was not offered a discount; I asked for one myself later and did not receive one.

Worthless! We ordered via Thuisbezorgd, but the food was cold, not tasty, and very little for 40 euros, especially the fries; it was just a tiny handful. The extra fries we ordered weren't even included, and there was a hair in the food, so definitely not recommended. This was the last time for us. I contacted them by phone, and the only solution they offered was a refund for the fries that weren't even included.

Very poor service. Forgot all orders 3 times already. Then didn't receive everything we ordered. 2 Diserono glasses with 1 ant in each glass. Plus, we got all the food items on our plates that we didn't want with them. Bidding for a few drinks took 25 minutes, downright bad! PRC at my best friend's birthday! And now that it's edited, empty glasses aren't being collected either.

Had a lovely meal with a friend at a high tea, delicious sandwiches, soup, and tasty sweet treats.

I got spare ribs, they are not as tender as I had hoped.

We arrived half an hour after opening time for breakfast and were told that it would take another half hour to three quarters of an hour before the cook arrived. Then, of course, the cook still has to prepare... We just left.

Fantastically decorated. Beautiful location. The food and atmosphere were perfect.

I ordered half a chicken with fries via the Thuisbezorgd app. Upon arrival, a half chicken was delivered without fries, along with 2 corn on the cob. Apparently, I had to guess from the app that you have to choose fries for side dish number 2; I didn't understand this at all, as I consider fries to be a main course with the half chicken. I ordered corn on the cob as a side dish. After the order was delivered and I didn't have fries, I called and explained my situation. I was told that I had ordered it this way myself, but that they were willing to deliver fries for an additional fee plus delivery costs. I didn't want that, which is why I don't find the app clear, but the solution wasn't pleasant either. Incidentally, the chicken was old and not well prepared (completely soaked in soy sauce), but that is probably a matter of personal preference.

We really are critical and sometimes say to each other, “When will we ever be disappointed at Patries and her team?” But every time we are there, it feels very welcoming and hospitable. Beautiful location, atmospheric restaurant, and a young but very polite and dynamic team. In short—and I don't say this for every Beer, but this Beer is highly recommended.

On the day we came for dinner with 4 people, it was not busy. The service was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was good. The dishes were hot, tasty, and plentiful. You can sit outside on warm days. Inside, you can sit on the ground floor and on the 1st floor, where the toilets are also located. The decor is atmospheric, with pleasant dinner music playing in the background. In short, a fine Beren restaurant.

Delicious food, excellent service and a relaxed atmosphere

It really is a very nice restaurant. The value for money is really good, and it has a cozy atmosphere. The chicken satay and Berenburger are our favorites. The service is very friendly.

We had a delicious meal; the dishes were served quickly even though there were 8 of us and it was quite busy.

I order here regularly. But this was really the last time. 9 out of 10 times they just slog away with the food after about an hour and a half. If you pay 40 euros for 2 menus, you surely expect quality and a nice portion of food, but no. You should be happy with 20 fries. This time I had the half chicken with it; gross, it looked like it had deep-fryer fat in it. I threw it away. So, very few fries and very poor quality!!! Delivery also takes forever........ WHERE YOU CAN EAT GOOD FOOD FOR A GOOD PRICE IS THE NEW JAGERTJE!!! So never again De Beren for me. This regular customer is gone!!!!!!!!!! McDonald's is even better than De Beren, really.

The atmosphere is nothing to write home about. The food was lukewarm, bordering on cold. The price-quality ratio is absolutely terrible. I recommend going to McDonald's; it's a luxury compared to this. They won't be seeing me again.

I ordered a dish here that was supposed to come with two poached eggs. However, when the food arrived, they'd simply put a half-boiled egg on each bun. It wasn't even a soft-boiled egg, as you'd expect from a poached egg. I walked over to the waitress, who checked with the kitchen. It turned out they were out of poached eggs. Strange, since the only ingredient for a poached egg is egg. I finally asked if I could take some money off the price, since they weren't poached eggs and I'd only received one egg instead of the two promised on the menu. The money wasn't deductible, but she could get me a boiled egg. I agreed to this. Afterward, the food itself turned out to be quite bad; everything was soaked in sauce. All in all, a very disappointing experience, which is why I won't be returning to De Beren anytime soon.

We had a delicious meal with fast service. Highly recommended.

February 6, 2026 The food was dramatically bad. Upon arrival, we were kindly assisted and shown to a table. Our order was taken and we were asked if we wanted bread and spreads. We ordered, but unfortunately, it was never served. Shortly after, the appetizer arrived, which clearly looked like it had come straight from the freezer. The carpaccio was so cold that we only took one bite and then left it. The main course arrived shortly after. This was also a major disappointment: the hamburger was raw on the inside. After one bite, it was clear to us that this was absolutely unacceptable. I immediately filed a complaint, stating that I would not pay for food that was not properly prepared and could not be eaten. The response was very disappointing. We were brushed off with the statement that they could offer us a new hamburger and would deduct one drink from the bill. I again made it clear that I would not pay for something that was not properly prepared. Then they said all drinks would be deducted from the bill, so this would be equivalent to compensation for the burger. However, after paying, it turned out this wasn't correct. After recalculating, we were still disadvantaged, which feels like outright fraud to us. We will never return to De Beren. What an incredibly bad experience: subpar food, poor service, and unreliable handling. What a mess. February 14, 2026 After contacting them by email, they expressed their deep regret for how everything had gone. I received several apologies, but no concrete solution was offered. After I expressed my feelings of being disadvantaged, they offered me a refund, on the condition that I remove my 1-star review. I declined and made it clear that I wouldn't be blackmailed. I haven't heard anything since. All of this happened within a day of posting my 1-star review, so there was plenty of time to respond substantively. February 20, 2026 After a few days, I'm once again being called a liar. As proof, I've attached a screenshot of the response I received, in which I was asked to remove my 1-star review. However, I refuse, as my review is based on my experience. They seem to be primarily concerned with portraying themselves in a positive light, while the customer is being portrayed in a negative light.

Cozy and atmospheric, the food was delicious, and the service was super friendly. We did have to wait a long time for our drinks and food, though.

We ate here with a Kruidvat voucher. The service was friendly, but the food was incredibly disappointing. The carpaccio was tasteless and tough, and they skimped on the garnish. I've never had such dry carpaccio. It certainly didn't resemble the carpaccios in the photos in the reviews. The fries with the main course were small, crispy leftovers served in containers that were slightly over half full. Then we saw the waiters walking by with well-filled portions to other tables.

The price-quality ratio is good. Three hours is a long time for a three-course meal. It could be a bit more efficient.

I do not recommend it, I waited for over an hour for the cake

Incredibly slow. I was invited here by someone who had snagged a four-course social deal. We arrived at 6:30, but everything took so long that we didn't leave until closing time, at 10:00. With a smaller menu, you'd expect things to move along quickly. However, there were about 45 minutes between each course. Initially, I thought this might be because we were hoping to order more drinks, but we were barely asked about that either. When we did get the chance to order drinks, there were long waits for those as well. We saw similar scenes at the tables around us, with growing frustration. The food was also somewhat disappointing. The soup was served in a coffee cup, and we had to search for the meatball. The gyozas were good, though. I was disappointed with the burger, and the ice cream for dessert was flavorless. It was definitely not worth the long wait.

A bland, tasteless, lukewarm sandwich

Not great. "If I want food from the freezer, I'll eat at home." The staff came by once for a drink. And it was someone's birthday, which was nice for the birthday boy, but not for us; we were sitting right under the sound system. (Blast off: "Happy Birthday!") More than half the food is frozen; the shrimp even have frost bite. There are plenty of places in Oud Beijerland where you can eat out much better. We won't be back.

We dined here on Christmas Day. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were very friendly.

We enjoyed a lovely three-course meal together again. The welcome and service are always excellent, and the food is simply delicious. We love coming here because the atmosphere and staff are friendly, and we live just around the corner.

Bad food. Burger costing almost 20 euros seemed to have been thrown together in 5 minutes. Poor service, insecure young people who don't understand anything. It takes ages for them to come back and ask if you want any extra drinks. No sauce was provided and no cutlery. Really poorly organized.

We love going to De Beren in Oud-Beijerland because it's such a cozy place. The shared dinner, in particular, makes for a complete evening out. You get several small portions of the famous Beren dishes, spread over four courses. Highly recommended.

We've eaten here several times now and think it's deteriorating. The hostess was friendly to us, but she was very rude to others. Something can always go wrong, but it's the tone of voice you use when addressing someone. This was our last time.

Food was tasty would come more often

Ordered food online. Spareribs and chicken satay. The fries were soggy and cold with both dishes, and the chicken was very dry. The ribs were good, but that was about it. Delivery was 30 minutes after ordering, as stated.

We waited almost an hour and a half for our main course, and still no food. We left.

Horrible, we had to wait fifteen minutes for our welcome drink. Then another fifteen minutes for our order to be taken! After 10 minutes, our starter arrived. And now, after waiting over an hour, still no main course. We got up and left without paying, but after a few sighs, we went back and paid for what we had received. You guessed it, it also took ages because the manager was nowhere to be found. What a terrible place.

It was a very pleasant evening. The service was excellent and attentive. Very friendly, and they were having a good time. You don't see that everywhere anymore.

The food was fine, but we were reminded of the sauces that were missing. The music was a bit loud when we arrived, making it difficult for the staff to hear us. However, this was quickly resolved. All in all, we had a good and tasty meal. This time, we didn't order the three-course menu but individual dishes.

I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who worked on Thursday evening, August 28th, for the excellent service. I ordered the bears from the wrong location, and you arranged for me to pick them up. To top it all off, I was even offered a drink. Truly fantastic, what excellent service! This is how hospitality should be. Good luck tonight!

Ordered food at 5:35 PM. Only two hamburgers. They said it would arrive at 6:07 PM. Called at 6:45 PM. Your food is being prepared and will arrive within fifteen minutes. It's now 7:39 PM and still nothing. I just called again, and the food could have arrived any minute. Such a shame. Last time we ordered food from here.

Service has improved significantly over the past year and a half. You can tell the staff enjoy working there. The atmosphere is super friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent, and they make it with care. Fantastic!

Long story in one paragraph: We sat at lunch to get a 1+1 for free lunch-menu deal. Waited 15 min for beer. Ordered an omelette, got an omelette with a thick black hair in it. Returned it, got a second omelette with another black hair in it (literally showing in the first bite). Argued with the waitress and manager that we are only paying for the drinks, while they insisted to also pay for the other meal which would effectively be a full price for what turned out to be a disgusting lunch experience. Management has no understanding how to provide even basic customer/eating experience. The young girl that was waitressing was also clueless and seemed equally annoyed and confused about "having to deal with" unhappy customers. Never going back to any De Beren locations because it seems there's no oversight on the quality of the food & overall service.

We had a lovely meal on the terrace in the center of Oud-Beijerland, by the harbor. I ordered satay with sweet potatoes, which was delicious, but my table companion initially received the wrong kind of fries. The terrace is large, with stained cushions.

Been waiting for 2 hours and still no food

Ordered food through Thuiszorgd. Don't do it. Wait times are absurd, and the food arrives barely at the right temperature. So, absolutely not recommended.

It was raining very hard outside then our servant came he was SOAKING WET we asked him if he was also on duty outside he said no luckily not could that have been sweat?? Really super dirty

We were at the dinner today to celebrate my daughter's birthday but it was very disappointing. Very long wait for drinks and food and after request of fireworks/birthday song it was compare.. Very unfortunate next time we will not come back

After a day of sailing we had a nice meal and were pleasantly surprised. Nice food, friendly young staff but well trained, keep it up 👌🏼

Delicious and beautiful restaurant

Last Sunday (May 25, 2025) we had a delicious lunch together via Social Deal and we will definitely do that again. Enough choice, large portions and tasty food. Service was extremely friendly and accurate. Also thinking along and solving an administrative problem. This Beren is in a great location and is very nicely decorated. In terms of atmosphere, we could not really judge that as it was very quiet that afternoon.

Nice place, young staff, friendly and polite service. Too bad if you order medium tournedos that it is rare. Also a shame about 3 pieces of courgette that are called seasonal vegetables.

We went out for dinner with 4 people on a Sunday evening for Mother's Day. We were able to make a reservation the day before. That same day we called to change the reservation to another time, they were not difficult about that and we were still able to enjoy a delicious three-course dinner. There was one person who had to eat gluten-free, that was no problem. There was a QR code on the card, that was the allergen card and that person could enjoy it without any worries.

I had something delivered. Neatly on time. Burger corn tasty. The fries (macain boats) tasted and felt as if they had been fried for the 2nd or 3rd time. That's just a pity.

De Beren has deteriorated enormously in terms of food quality. The price/quality ratio is truly scandalous. It was once good, but because of all the changes (expansions) it is very bad food. The spare ribs are warmed up in the plastic and the other dishes are also quality airplane food. Very unfortunate!
