The food quality is about OK. The service itself is reasonably decent. As is often the case at De Beren, it's a bit chilly here too. It's a bit of a shame that they're so stingy with the sauce when you order a schnitzel with sauce. The wine is good. I ordered a limoncello with dessert for an extra 5 euros. Stingyness reigns supreme here too. At most, half a drink, in my opinion. It's not worth it for the atmosphere. So, if you're out and about and don't have too high expectations, it's a great place to grab a bite.

The four of us dined at De Beren in Roosendaal with a three-course voucher from Kruidvat. It was a lovely location, pleasantly decorated, and the staff were really friendly. But… the restroom was absolutely awful. There was a checklist showing that it hadn't been cleaned since around 4 p.m. the day before, even though we were there around 7 p.m. the next day. The toilet seat was also broken. That just looks sloppy and unkempt. I'd rather just sign that checklist and leave it at that. The food itself was good, that wasn't the problem. However, it was a bit pricey for what you get: large plates, small portions, and the fries were lukewarm. What really made it sour were the extra charges. With the satay, they asked if I wanted mushrooms with it, without mentioning that it would cost €3.25 extra. The same story with dessert: "Do you want whipped cream with it?" It turned out to be €2.25 extra. The €53 we paid was just for drinks and extras. The food itself had already been paid for with Kruidvat vouchers. With four people, eight soft drinks, and then this amount on top of that, it feels a bit harsh.

I had a delicious meal on October 9th, but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I had a 10% discount coupon, but at checkout, I was told they couldn't redeem it because their system wasn't working. How are we going to fix this? Well, apparently, they're not solving anything at De Beren. I sent an email, and they replied that it was my fault because I should have shown it upon arrival. That was supposed to be one of the terms and conditions. Nice idea, but unfortunately, the date isn't mentioned anywhere. It just says "show it at the checkout." After sending more emails, I'm still not getting a response. Ridiculous, how unfriendly to customers. These coupons are still in circulation, so just don't participate! I still assume they're working on a suitable solution. I'd love to hear from you! The photos below show the terms and conditions!

There were 5 adults and 2 young children, and we had to wait over 30 minutes for our food. The fried eggs were served on a very warm plate, but the eggs were cold, the crust of the bread was rock-hard, and the lettuce was wilted. The dressing on the carpaccio was dried out, and the other dishes were also bad. Not recommended! The kids had to eat from one plate. That's not very practical.

Seven of us had lunch here. We ordered a farmer's omelet, which was nothing special, the vegetables were burnt. We had two omelets, the eggs were cold, and the lettuce was wilted (see photo). We had one carpaccio, which had bacon bits added to it. Two pieces of bread with one egg for small children were served on one plate; we had to ask for an extra plate. We also ordered extra lettuce. We had one chicken sandwich... I'm done with it. The service was grumpy, and we had to wait a very long time for our lunch, and no, it certainly wasn't busy. I wonder what it will be like when it's busy, haha.

I was here in October. When we arrived, we were helped quickly, but after that, it was absolutely terrible. We waited more than 45 minutes for our food. When I mentioned it, the answer was, "The fries still need to be fried." While people after us had already received their food, including fries. Suddenly, I received it very quickly. Unfortunately, there was no apology. We had to ask for cutlery ourselves. And when we did ask, the answer was, "You don't need that with your starter." This experience was a real shame. We won't be coming here again.

Yesterday, the four of us went here for lunch through Social Deal. Someone came over pretty quickly when we arrived. They took our names and told us to choose a table. We chose the most peaceful table, but it was wobbly and hadn't been wiped down after the previous diners. The tables were incredibly sticky. We'd only been sitting there for a few seconds when she was standing next to us, staring at us and asking what we wanted to drink. We'd only just picked up the menu. Finally, she decided to give us a moment. When we'd chosen a smoothie and fresh juice, she came back to take our order. But unfortunately, the machine was broken, so we decided to go for iced tea. We were given a slip of paper with all the options within the Social Deal. The starter was "creamy tomato soup, meatballs, etc., etc." No idea where the meatballs were... One person had two, two people had one, and one person didn't have any meatballs at all. We also asked for the soup to be "nice and hot" ("I'll pass it on"), but alas... it was lukewarm. Then it took an hour for the main course to arrive. My dish (steak pieces on bread) was delicious, and everyone else enjoyed theirs too, but not once was anyone asked if anyone wanted another drink or if it was to their liking. While we were eating, we heard a strange noise. It kept going on and off, on and off, on and off... We thought it might be a carving knife/machine or something in the kitchen. After listening to this for quite a while, I asked one of the ladies what this strange noise was. It turned out a colleague was sharpening pencils behind the bar with an electric pencil sharpener 😣. I said, "This is a damn annoying noise." "I'll pass it on." She walked to the bar, told her colleague about it, and told me which table was complaining about it, after which I was repeatedly glared at by this sharpening colleague. How incredibly friendly and hospitable! Please do that somewhere else in your restaurant where no one will bother you. We were sitting quite far away, and it was already bothering us. Let alone if I'd been sitting at the first table next to the bar. I would have, figuratively speaking, thrown the sharpener out the window. Tables weren't cleared (the table next to us had been full for over an hour, and it really wasn't that busy), and we were completely ignored during and for 45 minutes after our main course. We wanted dessert, but no one bothered us, and when we decided we were done, she suddenly said, "Enjoyed everything!" and "Would you like another drink?" Well, now we don't need it anymore. We went next door for dessert (McFlurry). We paid for our drinks (€3.50 for an iced tea!) and quickly left. We'll never go there again. Apparently, this staff still needs to learn how to be friendly and helpful to those who indirectly pay their wages: your paying customers. What a missed opportunity, but judging by the other reviews, it's apparently not unusual behavior. (A three for atmosphere because the space is nicely decorated. Little to do with the staff or cleanliness. Dirt was running down the windows.)

We went here as a family to finish our vacation. After a great starter, we got the main course... which was really not okay... My salmon was really tiny and incredibly overcooked. The spare ribs on my parents' share menu weren't warm. The fries were incredibly overcooked, looked like they'd been recycled. When we pointed this out and told them they should have noticed, they reheated the ribs, took away all the fries, and returned us with just enough fries for one person. Quite a disappointment, something we weren't used to from the bears... I think we'll choose a different restaurant from now on.

I visited here after a long time and changed my opinion of this restaurant. I once gave it 5 stars, but after tonight, 1 star is too much. We waited an hour for our appetizer, and half an hour for our next course. A total of 3 hours. Dessert was served after another long wait. The meat was almost cold, and the fries were tasteless. The salad was served in a saucepan, so it was tiny. We were all disappointed. We definitely won't be returning and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I still can't believe what happened to me tonight. Was it because we only came through Social Deal? Was it because the staff was far too young? Or was it the incompetent manager, who completely lacked any sense of responsibility? There were four of us, and the evening was a mess of excuses. When we arrived, we were told there were too few staff and last-minute sick calls. We received our starter exactly an hour after arriving. The second course arrived after another half-hour wait. The main course kept taking so long, so we decided to ask what was wrong. The printer was broken! Strange, because everyone around us was being served as usual. Or was it because we were with Social Deal and were tucked away in a remote corner of the restaurant? Finally, we got our main course, and to be fair, it was fine, but the fries that came with it weren't fried long enough, so they were still raw. All four of us felt that way, not just me, the author of this review. Finally, it took forever for us to get our dessert. Finally, a girl came to the table and said, "I'll bring empty plates and be back to take your order." We didn't see the girl again. We complained to the incompetent manager, who said she would speak to the girl about it. Well, we kept an eye on her, but no one was spoken to. At the cash register, the standard question was asked if we were satisfied. Well, to be fair, the food was pretty good, except for the fries, but the service left a lot to be desired. I asked again why that one girl had left us sitting after promising to return. "I can't tell you," said the incompetent manager. To which I replied, "It would have been nice of you to send that girl over to us, or to offer us a free drink for all the trouble." (A three-hour wait for a relatively simple menu). The response was, "Then we might as well offer the whole restaurant a drink," which, in my opinion, was her admission that they don't have their act together. Nope—never again. And... if you read this review, "Forewarned is forearmed"...

Strange experience yesterday… I arrived with 5 people, including 3 children (almost empty when I arrived), and no staff at the entrance. We walked to the completely empty terrace to find a table; the weather was beautiful. A staff member came over and asked if we'd checked in… because there was a sign saying we had to check in first. I said I hadn't seen it...anyway. She indicated she had to ask if the terrace was open first, or if not, the table near the door. We sat down there. We waited a while. We wanted to order, but no one came. I went inside to get a menu. I saw them near a cupboard and asked if I could grab one. To which they replied, "I'll be right with you." I didn't grab anything and went back to the table to wait again. After 10 minutes, we left. And then suddenly, two more waitresses appeared from somewhere. We indicated we were leaving anyway. "Okay!" That's a fine answer, but I think you'd rather see customers leave than come, given the staff's attitude and responses... I've come to expect much better from some Beren restaurants! I'll definitely never come back here again!

Yesterday I went to eat at De Beren via Social Deal. I had done the same at the end of last year. This experience was disappointing at the time, but it was also very busy that evening, so I understood that everything was not going so well. Yesterday, however, it was not busy at all. There were a few tables filled here and there, but certainly manageable in my opinion. The starter and the intermediate course both took a while, but were both served fairly quickly. Then we waited for at least 45 minutes, but no main course. Other tables that had joined within those 45 minutes had already received a dish, which surprised me in itself. We then told the staff that we had been waiting for a while. They went to the kitchen and came back with the news that they were working on it. Then we waited another 45 minutes until our food finally arrived. After we had finished the main course and they came to clear our table, they asked us as usual if we had enjoyed it. Someone at our table did say that it tasted good, but that we had waited at least an hour for our main course. The service gave a shocked reaction and took the plates away, after which they came back with a drink on the house as compensation. Of course, that doesn't completely make up for the fact that we had to wait more than an hour, but it was nice that they did this. We noticed at the tables around us that not everything was going well there either. We heard irritated comments here and there. And saw that there were also people at the cash register with irritated faces. In the end, we did receive dessert quickly. But the entire experience was disappointing. So for me it would not be worth repeating if it stays like this.

Ontzettend slecht. Heel lang wachten op eten. Toen we erom gingen vragen kregen we het maar wel koud. Friet kwam pas na 2 keer vragen nadat eten op was. Waren er om 7 uur, binnen en buiten bijna alles leeg en toch dingen uitverkocht. Leiding gevende zat onderuit gezakt op terras sigaretje te roken en alle bediening heel jong.

If you are thinking about working at Beren Roosendaal… don’t do it! The workload is high because there are few staff, this is because the staff is not treated normally. Turnover is the most important thing according to the boss Beren Roosendaal, because of this they lose a lot of guests and staff. The workload is so high on busy evenings that you have to run, this also causes unnecessary mistakes to be made. The boss Beren Roosendaal is an arrogant man who does not treat the staff and guests normally. The manager does not speak to you if something happens, then the boss says something about it and the manager acts hypocritical while she never speaks to anyone. You are cancelled at the last minute but they refuse to pay this, while you are entitled to it. The head office does not want to and cannot do anything about this and just lets this happen. They also make it difficult to take time off, while they are not allowed to reject your leave if you have a 0-hour contract. They make it difficult about sick leave and actually want to refuse this, sorry but if I have a migraine and I'm hanging over the toilet you can't expect me to come to work. Employees talk about this among themselves but don't go to the manager or the boss. I have chosen to resign on the spot. All in all if you are looking for a nice job, definitely don't go work at the bears Roosendaal.

Today I had a fair meal at De Beren Roosendaal, as a starter I had delicious garlic shrimp and my mother had a delicious carpaccio. As a main course I had a tournedos which was excellently cooked. We regularly come here to eat. However, last week was the last time. What a dirty place it has become. Dust was 10 cm thick, I could write my name on it. The cushions (seat) all around are full of stains and there was a nasty smell coming from them. Tables dirty, dirt/food remains on the floor. Had dinner a few months ago at the invitation of my in-laws. Very busy and severely understaffed. No management at all, run by teenagers who can't handle the crowds. Table next to the bar. Glass that broke flew over and under our table. No attention was paid to it. View of the swinging doors (which are anything but tasty by the way) of the kitchen became more and more shocking as the evening progressed. Dirty dishes were everywhere. At one point the gnawed satay sticks and dirty napkins were even in the restaurant. Meat is served on wooden planks that you can see on the floor in the photos. Meat was also lukewarm. Sick for 2 days. Not to be repeated unfortunately.

We always liked coming to the Beren in Roosendaal when we were looking for a roadside restaurant. Unfortunately, things have really deteriorated recently. Had two bad experiences. Extremely long waiting times between courses (more than an hour between each course). The first time staff did not respond to comments about this, fortunately the second time slightly better. Quite indifferent. Several dishes were way too salty (especially satay and carpaccio). In any case, unfortunately the quality of the dishes is also lower than before. Chairs were full of crumbs and leftovers of food littered the floor here and there. It's a shame that a previously nice place has become so bad.

Contrary to other reviews, we found the service to be customer-oriented and the waiting times for the food were good and on time. Couldn't find any negative points. Nice meal, kudos to the business.

Omdat wij regelmatig bij een Berenzaak eten even binnengestapt bij deze locatie voor een lunch. Het was er gezellig druk aan de bovenring. Wij mochten er alleen plaatsnemen aan de onderste ring. Daar zat helemaal niemand ws omdat de mensen zittend aan de bovenring de gehele tijd op je bord neerkijken. Daar wilden wij ook niet zitten en er waren nog genoeg andere tafels vrij maar wij met z'n tweeën mochten daar niet zitten. Op een hele onvriendelijke manier werd dit ons kenbaar gemaakt, zo onvriendelijk dat wij genoodzaakt waren gelijk weer weg te gaan. De dame had waarschijnlijk haar dag niet. Wat n kreng.......Bij de zaak ernaast, DeliFrance, werden wij vriendelijk geholpen.

The sandwich I ordered did not come complete, bacon was forgotten... but that was resolved nicely. Furthermore, the place is really dirty! Crumbs everywhere on the chairs, prawn crackers and napkins under tables, pencil on the floor, even though it was only 1:10 PM when we came in. It is also genuinely freezing inside, and we also heard that complaint from people at the other tables! Bears... do something with this!

Terrible team. We were at the door at 11.50 am because the website says open from 11 am. The ladies were outside smoking and made no effort to be friendly or let us in. Smoke first! My wife couldn't get tea because the coffee machine was broken. Asked if they had a microwave or pan and that resulted in a lukewarm cup of tea. My wine glass was dirty. The soup was also lukewarm and was returned with a long face. Besides the soup, the food was tasty, but I will never go there again!

Food was fine, but the service left much to be desired. I had opted for unlimited spare ribs, but this turned out to mean a maximum of 1.5 ribs per person in total. To my surprise, 1.5 ribs were only 9 bones. When I finally wanted to order half a rib extra, because my wife had not ordered anything extra, this was refused. Very nice and cozy roadside restaurant. You can often go here without making a reservation. Parking is free in front of the door. There are also parking spaces where you can charge your electric car. In the restaurant you will be kindly taken to a table. The menu has many different dishes, a children's menu and some vegetarian options. You can also choose different dishes from a 3-course menu that costs €32.50. Super! Unfortunately, there are a few areas for improvement... for example, a ginger tea costs €4, which I think is really expensive. The ladies toilets stank... it smelled like sanitary towels, really nasty! There was also a tap completely loose, not useful if you want to wash your hands. The lamps hanging above the table really need to be dusted. So in general a nice restaurant where you can eat well.

We just had dinner here and the food was delicious The staff, on the other hand... The girl who took our order was snapping at us. She didn't even look at you and when you asked how long the meal would take, you got grumpy because it was busy even though there were 13 tables. A really nice location. What I thought was a shame was that with 2 small children we had to wait a really long time for our food. Very handy. Furthermore, it was difficult to get eye contact to order drinks and my ever so favorite bear dish; Sate, was now relegated to the bare minimum. Hele goede bediening! We hadden een deal via social deal maar waren al te laat en zaten ook savonds weer met verplichtingen.
