A really good restaurant, highly recommended, great value for money.

We ate at this restaurant with our dog. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent! A wonderful discovery!

Nice terrace at a good restaurant. There is plenty to see right in the middle of the village. The service was friendly, polite, and good. The food was particularly tasty and almost too much for us. The portions were generous. The menu is very diverse, so there is plenty of choice for every foodie. I highly recommend this location.

Nice people, a joke right upon arrival, and treated nicely too. The dogs were allowed inside as well and got a treat, a cookie... keep up the good work, food good, everything good.

The food is substandard for the price/quality ratio. The main course followed the starter immediately. Coordination between the kitchen and service was poor. The spareribs were lukewarm and bland in taste. The chicken satay also did not meet the quality expectations for that price. In short, not a great experience. Unfortunately, no reason to return for a second visit.

A beautiful terrace in the middle of Garderen and a nice owner who is up for a chat; also a lot of young and inexperienced staff who are sociable and nice but don't really get the hang of things yet. People are moving around a bit haphazardly, and we had 4 different people at our table. That is a shame. However, the food is particularly bad for the price you pay. Even the bread rolls beforehand are not tasty. Baked at too high a temperature and a bland taste. The raw vegetables are already turning brown and are far too old; there isn't a drop of dressing on them either. The fries are dry, undercooked, and have no salt on them. A greasy, boring little schnitzel that was dripping in grease and was even a bit burnt. There was also a sort of potato croquette with it, but that tasted very poor. Mayonnaise was forgotten and you had to ask for it. And yet, they charged 27 euros for this meal. All very disappointing. The toilets were dirty, and the terrace could also use a broom. The beers were tasty, served in nice glasses, and the sun was shining. But there is a lot of room for improvement here, and a real chef who knows how to fry chips and arrange the salad would be a blessing. If this kitchen doesn't improve, this new owner won't make it. Invest in that; the rest will follow naturally. It also takes a terribly long time for your meal to be delivered. Several people walked out when we were there because they weren't being served. It is a real shame, because otherwise it is a stunning location.

Friendly staff, wide selection of beer, draft and bottled. Suggestion: divide the spacious terrace into smoking and non-smoking zones. The 12 o'clock lunch is highly recommended. Unlike 5 years ago, there were no smokers on the terrace this time.

Nice place! We had bread and garlic butter and more. The bread was done in a flower shape. Very awesome. It was not too crowded in the restaurant, so we could have a nice conversation. We both have severe hearing loss. My farmers schnitzel was loaded with onions and mushrooms and tasted delicious. Everything that we ate tasted superb. The schnitzel with mushroom sauce, my husband had, was also great. No place for dessert, so a good cup of coffee completed the meal. Personnel was very friendly and helpful! The restaurant looked perfect and clean. Also the restroom was very clean. It was a great choice after visiting the Zandsculpturen in Garderen

We ended up here by chance for lunch. A beautiful place, good atmosphere, friendly staff. After seeing the menu, we were in agreement and ordered the 'Bonte Koe' omelette, and it was so delicious—highly recommended. Well taken care of.

Today, my husband and I both had two decaf cappuccinos. When we got to the checkout, we were surprised to find a regular cappuccino for €3.45, but they charge a €0.95 surcharge for the decaf. The coffees weren't listed on the menu. Furthermore, the restaurant is in dire need of maintenance and the restroom is filthy. For us, it's a reason not to return. Definitely not recommended.

The burger was great after a long walk. The service was friendly, but otherwise, it was a bit of a surreal experience.

We ended up here by chance. We received a very friendly welcome. The interior is charming and the menu is extensive. We had game stew and venison steak. The stew was generously filled with venison and boar and was very tasty. The same goes for the venison steak. The plate was nicely filled with various vegetables, red cabbage, stewed pear, carrot, etc. Very tasty. The same went for the crème brûlée dessert with a scoop of caramel ice cream and tonka beans. In short, we had a delicious meal.

Ate here tonight and it was disappointing. The tenderloin was just a small piece and the peppercorn sauce was very watery with no peppercorns to be found. And just a small bowl of fries that 3-4 people had to share.

We went to this restaurant specifically for the game menu. The leg of hare was sold out, so we chose the game stew. As described earlier by another customer, this was very disappointing. There was too much thick sauce, making it difficult to tell if there was any game meat in it. I tasted almost none of it. The mashed potatoes were tasteless (probably from a packet) and a tablespoon (why not a bit more?!) of red cabbage was very dry. There were no other vegetables (the stewed pear mentioned on the menu was not included). My partner received very little fish and tasteless mixed vegetables, which were also lukewarm. It is incomprehensible that we have had this negative experience at multiple restaurants. You really won't score any points with us with this. We paid €80 for 2 people (without dessert), but the bock beer from the city brewery in Elburg was very good (perhaps brewed with love...). Come on, hospitality industry in the Netherlands, do something about the quality of your food, because this is just awful!

I ate here tonight with a friend. My friend had fish and it was fine. I had a 'game stew' but unfortunately it was very disappointing. There was no meat in it, too much gingerbread had been used so it looked more like a ragout, and because of this it was also too sweet. After I mentioned this, I received a new stew, but it made no difference. The waiter was friendly but offered no other choice, e.g. a different menu or a reduction. The stew/ragout without meat was €25. By the way, we had to wait quite a long time for our food, even though there were only a few customers.

Back in Garderen this year, dining at De Bontekoe is a must! The quality is always excellent, the welcome is perfect, and the dining room staff is extremely friendly and professional. Thanks to all the team Pierre the French tourist

This seems like a fine establishment, but we were treated very rudely by the owner, who thought he'd noticed something that he completely misjudged. Upon arrival, we looked for a shady spot, which was noticed by a friendly couple. The woman told us we could take their table and went inside to pay. The man stood up, and I jokingly remarked, "Are you just being chased away?" This was apparently the only thing the owner overheard of the conversation, and he confronted us about it. We then had to wait almost an hour for an omelet, a meatball sandwich, a croquette sandwich, and a steak. When I politely asked if our order had gone through, the man (who knew perfectly well where we were) asked which table it was and disappeared into the kitchen. He returned two seconds later, saying the food was on its way. After waiting a bit longer, we were full and got up. Of course, that's when the food arrived. We refused, and when we tried to pay for our drinks, we were asked if we needed to get even. Surprised, I asked the owner if this was his intention, which he agreed. If you treat your customers like this, you don't really deserve that first ⭐️! I hope the owner reads this, and I'd urge him to be more customer-friendly. If a similar situation arises again, to first inquire about the situation instead of preemptively pre-empting his opinion with the resulting responses. You certainly won't see us here again!

After a joke with other guests, we were treated incredibly rudely by the (apparently) restaurant manager. We then had to wait far too long for our order. People who ordered fifteen minutes after us received their food, and we still hadn't. When we inquired, it was supposed to arrive shortly. When it arrived, the steak was well-done instead of medium-rare as ordered. We paid for our drinks and left. When we explained why, the restaurant owner/manager said he wanted to get even with us about what he saw as the altercation on the terrace upon arrival.

It's a pity that they are not a little more flexible with 'reservations'.

A nice and cozy atmosphere, but the music wasn't allowed and couldn't be turned down. I can't stand it, but they didn't listen to me. We were a maximum of 10 people on the terrace.

The food and drinks were delicious. But the service wasn't quite right (students).

Last Saturday, we stopped here for a "quick lunch because it looked nice." Once we were seated, the drinks arrived quickly, but we had to wait 40 minutes for a simple croquette sandwich and a bowl of prawns. After asking a few times where our food was, the waiter returned and said he'd have to ask. The "manager" just stood behind the bar, disinterestedly making a phone call, while his staff looked around helplessly, clueless. A little guidance would be nice! When, after asking a few times, the food finally arrived after 40 minutes, I was given two slices of supermarket white bread with two croquettes on top and a pile of brown lettuce next to it. Did it really have to take that long? There were only six other tables, by the way. The food was served by the old manager, who was on the phone, and who casually remarked to the table, "Well, the food has finally arrived, hasn't it?" I would advise driving past this unfriendly and slow establishment to another restaurant/lunch spot.

A charmingly decorated restaurant with delicious salads. Even the small (fish) salad was more than enough for a meal. I highly recommend the Harderwijk salad. They also have delicious pancakes on the menu. Something for everyone.

We had pancakes there tonight. After more than 45 minutes, the pancakes we ordered finally arrived, with apologies for the delay due to a new cash register system. This could easily have been prevented if they had paid closer attention to the guests. The pancakes weren't cooked properly. Actually, they were bad. We pointed this out. The response was rather blunt and angry. They said it was due to the ingredients we had ordered on the pancakes... Nonsense!!!!! We weren't taken seriously... it was our fault... and all sorts of excuses. After this (almost rude) response from the man, we had no desire to have another cup of coffee there and left immediately. No more Bontekoe for us.

Dinner for four. Chicken without a stick 👌. I had a strawberry pancake with ice cream and whipped cream 👌. Delicious food, excellent service.

Der erste Abend war sehr nett, das Essen gut, die Preise vor allem für Getränke etwas hoch, aber ok. Wir haben uns daher entschieden am nächsten Abend wiederzukommen. Das war ein Fehler. Es lief einiges schief. Einige hatten einen Burrata bestellt, bekamen aber nur die Hälfte der Burrata vom Vorabend. Ein Preisnachlass wird nur auf Drängen gewährt. Die Bedienung war top! Der Chef leider recht muffelig. Wir werden nicht wiederkommen!

Typical Dutch street café. Food good quality, portion size 👌. Tourist area so expect to pay above average. Still enjoyed it.

Had a very nice lunch with a large group, many different dishes were served quickly and warmly. Despite the fact that many restaurants in the area were fully booked, there was still enough space here, while the food was delicious

Had a lovely meal yesterday, my wife asparagus menu and I large garderer, then ice cream for dessert. Neat and smooth service. Will definitely come back next year, especially for the asparagus.

Nice restaurant in Garderen on the Veluwe

A lovely lunch for two. We were almost the only guests, but it took a long time before we got our food. Nice staff!

A nice cozy restaurant in what seems to be an old renovated farm. The service is very good, the atmosphere is very good, the food is very good. But what you hardly see anywhere anymore is that the staff hands you your coat and holds the door open for you when you leave. A real recommendation is to eat the spareribs, because the meat just falls off the bone that's how it goes and also very tender. We give it a 10+.

For the first time on the terrace, that was a pleasure anyway. The dog was allowed to come along and was given a nice bowl of water. Service is super nice and helpful and the food was delicious!

Price performance is very far apart. The bacon is not freshly fried. Tastes like chips out of the bag. The dog didn't like the bacon either. Only sauce and some salad on the burger. Meat was top. Fries hard no salt. Things are completely different when it comes to nearby restaurants.

Hadn't been there for a few years. It was just like old times; the spare ribs were delicious again.

We kwamen jaarlijks 1 of 2 x per bij De Bonte Koe. Maar de zaak gaat met de keer achteruit. Hoge prijzen voor een heel matige pannenkoek (deeg niet lekker, matig belegd), met 1 drankje plus een ijsje na € 30,- per persoon. Kwaliteit/prijs niet in verhouding. Dit was onze laatste keer bij De Bonte Koe, wel jammer.

Hartelijke ontvangst, ook voor de hond. Prettige sfeer, goede bediening en uitstekend eten. Voldoende keuze voor vegetarische gerechten. Ruime parkeergelegenheid vlakbij het restaurant. Wij komen zeker terug.

Ronduit tegenvallend restaurant. Ongezellig, koude sfeer (evenals de gerechten) Gewoon niet lekker. Prijs / kwaliteit verhouding met zo’n keuken is bar slecht. De Veluwe kan veel beter!

De entree was echt vies. Maar laten wij niet van het negatieve uitgaan. De tafel was niet echt schoon. Wij bestelde een broodje carpaccio en broodje warme brie. Broodje was niet gaar. Duidelijk x aantal keren gemeld. Bediening zou het doorgeven. Er werd niks meegedaan. Moest gewoon àlles afrekenen. Maar wat is alles vies! Overal stof, spinnenwebben en vliegen.
