Delicious food! Highly recommended!

Dinner for five people on September 13th. The restaurant is beautiful and nicely decorated, and the service is attentive. The table was overflowing with unnecessary items like a mushroom, a hedgehog, and large vases. We were soon asked if we'd like a sandwich with spreads. That was fine. We received two plates filled with squares of bread and some witch's cheese, herb butter, tapenade, and carrot chips. The bread tasted a bit bitter. The bread wasn't on the house, but we were charged €10 per plate. After our drinks were ordered, it took 15 minutes before we received our menu. The menu was large and clearly presented. However, €32.50 for a 250-gram ribeye is really overpriced. We received three mixed grills, one stroganoff dish, and a portion of spare ribs. The food took a very long time to arrive, over 60 minutes. The restaurant was also busy. The food itself was of mediocre quality. The spareribs were pre-cooked, dry, and looked gray. A sauce was spread over them to give them some flavor. 1/5 Mixed grill with steak, pork tenderloin, chicken, and spareribs. Everything tasted good, but the pork tenderloin and chicken were cooked too dry. The steak was medium-rare; we won't mention the spareribs anymore. 2/5 Stroganoff pot: plenty of meat, cooked too medium/medium-well, and no consideration was given to the remaining cooking time in the sauce. The sauce was good for flavor, lots of vegetables. 2.5/5 The fries and salad were fine. The fried potatoes were overcooked and hard. We didn't order dessert, partly due to the long wait. When we paid, there was a €5 beer that we didn't drink. Conclusion: Nicely decorated restaurant, but long waits for the food, and the price was too high for the quality of the food. Friendly but inexperienced service, it does look well-maintained. But we'll skip this one from now on when we're in Franeker.

We arrived a bit early, so the restaurant was still empty, with many "reserved" signs on the tables. The restaurant is cozy. With the exception of the hostess, the staff is very young (and inexperienced). The food was okay, but certainly not exceptional.

Yes, nice steakhouse, but when I asked for something, I didn't get it. I had to ask twice and it still wasn't ready for me. I would have added some more vegetables, salad isn't an option for me.

To be honest, it was our "makeshift restaurant," since no one else had a free table. The ambiance was very pleasant. The service, in my opinion, consisted of very young temporary staff. At least, that's what I assume. I know I'm a tourist in a foreign country, but I think good English should be available in restaurants. The prices are a bit too high in my opinion, but I suspect they'll go down again after the season. I also find it odd that I'm not charged at my table but have to go to a cash register. It was okay, but nothing more. They could certainly do more with it.

The starter was fantastic. In my reservation I specifically asked for no or low salt. The main dish (mixed grill) was way over seasoned. Not in any way "no or low" salt. Even for someone that does eat salt normally this would have been too much. The steak was beyond well done I completely lost my appetite.... Luckily my partner enjoyed her food which was of very good quality. In itself I am convinced this must be a good restaurant, but... When asked during reservation what allergies or wishes you have.... You should read and act.. Make sure to repeat your wishes!

Wij waren daar ergens in de buurt en kozen dit restaurant omdat het een grillrestaurant is. Ik vond het wel lekker, maar niet echt bijzonder. De prijs is ook te hoog. Thuis kreeg ik erge misselijkheid en maagzuur. Mijn partner en mijn ouders hadden hetzelfde ervaren, en ook diarree. We zeiden allemaal hetzelfde: één keer en nooit meer. Als ik andere beoordelingen heb gelezen, ervaren sommige mensen hetzelfde. Als tip: misschien zouden jullie hier extra aandacht aan moeten besteden.

€36.50 for a rib eye. It was half a rib eye with no fat on it. The service was slow. After 45 minutes, we got our food. Friendly people, though. The food itself is just fine. However, the side dishes are served in small bowls. The fried potatoes and salad aren't enough for four people. You do get extra free of charge if you ask. The bill for four people with only four main courses and five drinks was €176... I think this is really too expensive for what we got. We won't be back anytime soon. I wish the owner all the best, but I think he could be much more successful with some adjustments to the menu.

The food was truly delicious! We sampled appetizers, a mixed grill, and a grand dessert afterward. Everything was truly exceptional.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner yesterday! The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent! The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, and the tent was beautifully decorated! And the icing on the cake was a beautifully decorated fireworks display and a prosecco as a congratulations! Really thoughtful and incredibly sweet! Grillerije! The food was delicious! Absolutely nothing wrong with it.... Everything was delicious on the menu 😋. It's a really nice place with a great atmosphere. It's cozy. The (slightly older) lady who took care of everything and arranged everything was also fantastic! Nice and spontaneous, polite, polite, and correct. Just super nice. And yes, I recommend them and would definitely come back for another meal when I'm in the area.

Price included 3 dishes and plenty of drinks. Staff was super friendly and we loved the vibe of the place. Food was great. Be advised: We asked if the meat would be served with fries. They told us no so we ordered some. We should have been more specific because we did get a jacked potato, veggie gratin and salad. Apparently they serve fitting side dishes with every dish and that’s included in the price, so we ended up not eating everything. They do say this on the menu, but we were confused by the serving lady telling us there wouldn’t be fries. I don’t think this is a bad thing, as long as it’s clear so here you go!

We dined here on July 18th. What a lovely restaurant with a great menu. The appetizer tasting was excellent. The main course was tagliatelle with salmon, delicious but quite a lot. It also included several side dishes that didn't add anything. Potatoes with pasta? It detracted from the dish. A bit of a shame, I wouldn't order them again. I'd have liked a few pieces of bread with the shrimp in oil. I got a whole bread board with spreads. That was also too much and again, it didn't enhance the dish. We ordered the dessert tasting for just one person and ate it together. It was a great choice in terms of both quantity and quality. The food was truly delicious, but I'd leave out the side dishes.

If you want to dine extensively and for a long time, this is the perfect restaurant. There were three of us who went out for dinner and we had to wait 45 minutes for our starter and then another hour for the main course. This also resulted in extra parking costs. I had the quiche, which was also on the small side. Even clearing the table took a long time; in the end we just asked for the dessert menu ourselves. I also mentioned this when paying. As an excuse, they said that it was very busy and that everything came at the same time. However, we were there at 6:00 PM and the restaurant was not even half full. Afterwards it turned out that there were a lot of new staff, which may be an explanation, but unfortunately it did not make the experience any better. We dined for a total of 3 hours

I recently made a reservation via Socialdeal for De Grillerije and give it 4 stars. The mixed grill generally contained good meat, and the starters and desserts were tasty. Unfortunately, the steak in the mixed grill was of poor quality, as tough as plastic, and despite my report they unfortunately did nothing with it. The service was otherwise fine, but the drinks menu did not show prices and turned out to be expensive. The arrangement was good.

The food was top quality – everything was fresh, tasty and generously prepared. Many restaurants could really take an example from this. The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and cozy, with a beautiful, atmospheric interior. You immediately feel welcome. What made this experience complete was the friendly and smooth staff. The service was attentive, enthusiastic and made sure we really had a nice evening. In short: a great restaurant where you can eat delicious food in a nice ambiance. We will definitely come back!

Good food. It does take a long time. It might be useful to walk past the tables more often.

The price-quality ratio is not up to par. Very expensive for the standard food you get. Fried potatoes were floating in fat and the pork tenderloin satay with its sauce seemed to come from a packet. Time for love and passion in the kitchen. The hostess was super nice and made up for a lot.

After an afternoon of sailing in and around Franeker looking for a restaurant and we ended up here. Looks very cozy, very nice service and the food was delicious. Everything fresh and more than enough, in short a must if you ever go out for dinner in Franeker we will definitely come back

My partner had a good steak (wasn't asked how it should be cooked), I had a lamb stew which had so much salt in it that it was unedible. I returned it immediately. Then I ordered something else, an appetizer. This was €10 cheaper but I had to pay the full price of the stew. The cook said it was a matter of taste. I did not accept this and we left. We had put the money in cash on the table but were still chased on the street because we had not paid... Lots of pretension, little substance. Never again!

Nice place, nicely decorated with all kinds of frills. Incredibly little space between and around the tables, but I'm big and you notice that straight away. The staff is ready to help you at the right times. Top! The food is excellent and for me it is in the corner of good grand-café quality, where we may have relied too much on a meat specialist with a choice of charcoal-grilled, dry-aged wonders because of the name of the business. Nice to see that there is a Feudo Arancio wine on the menu, which is now my regular home wine for white, rose and red because it is very affordable for how they taste. And then you are always shocked by the margin on wines in restaurants 🤯, it is better not to know the purchasing price! The bottle came with the cap on the table, was not poured, etc. It did not taste any less, but that ritual is just part of the atmosphere of pampering :) Looking at the tables around us, the wine glasses were not used anywhere, so I think that people here are not used to wining during dining. There are still opportunities there! (Tip: The Feudo Arancio Passario is much tastier than the Nero D'Avolo. And erm, the menu says Chianti, which must be Chianti).

We were away for a weekend and were looking for a restaurant. Partly because of the good reviews we ended up here. Very friendly people. The food was delicious. The spareribs were unfortunately not spareribs, but a sparerib with little meat and a bit dry. The dessert was a chocolate party and that's what it was. Very tasty. Side dishes were a tasty salad with fried potatoes and apple compote. Between the dishes we thought we had to wait a long time.

Heel gezellig en knus restaurant met tafeltjes op boven- en benedenverdieping. Wij werden vriendelijk ontvangen en kregen een tafeltje beneden toegewezen. Vooraf namen we de zalm en dat bleek een goede keus, erg goed! Als hoofdgerecht de Surf&Turf met supermalse biefstuk, heerlijke garnalen en verrukkelijke zalm. Ook de bijgerechten smaakten erg goed. Wij komen zeker terug!

The staff is friendly and hospitable, which immediately provides a warm welcome. The interior is nicely decorated, making the atmosphere relaxed and cozy. As for the food, there is a nice variety of starters, tasty main courses and a delicious "grand dessert" for those who can't choose and like to have a selection of desserts!

Ik bestel regelmatig bij De Grillerije. Het eten is altijd top en er wordt rekening gehouden met eventueel doorgaren onderweg. Dit keer hadden we entrecote en kipbugget, dit keer bezorgd door de breedlachende Sjoerd. Onze smaakpapillen zijn zoals gewoonlijk weer heerlijk verwend!

Wederom heerlijk gegeten in een zeer gastvrije omgeving. Arja was onze host en we voelden ons zeer welkom. We hadden de surf en turf plank voor 2 personen en dan krijg je waar voor je geld.

Excellent meal, pleasant and adequate service. But we were very shocked by the final amount. It is all of good quality, but not of such high quality that it justifies such prices. No standard carafe of water on the table, no, ordering tap water was unfortunately not possible due to sustainable policy. €2.50 for a bottle of water on the table, not enough for four people. Minimum portions of side dishes: baked potatoes, apple compote and lettuce. A few small pieces of baked potato per person would have been fine. So order at: €4.50 per portion. The house wine, Malbec, was tasty but a bit flat. They couldn't really give wine advice for a bottle of wine. By the way, the Nero d'Avola was delicious. Beers were bottled only, not on tap. For me personally, good service and hospitality means that people think along with you, that there is a carafe of water ready when you take a seat (with or without a sprig of mint or something like that in it) and that side dishes can be ordered free of charge. The whole thing was certainly not bad, but the price/quality ratio is skewed in my opinion and that put a damper on a nice evening.

Onze 11 jarig huwelijk heerlijk gevierd bij De Grillerije. Als vanouds was het eten zalig. De bediening zeer vriendelijk en omdat we ons huwelijksjubileum daar vierde kregen we een lekker drankje. Ons favoriete restaurant.

Yesterday we ate again at the Grillerije. The restaurant is currently in a Valentine's atmosphere. It was a busy evening, but apart from the slightly cramped table layout (which has since been adjusted), I didn't notice anything. The friendly young waiters, Lieke and Jarno, ensured that your glass never remained empty and the food was served quickly. A nice combination of young staff managed by more experienced employees. The food was delicious. We come more often, it's nice that the menu is regularly updated. All in all a successful evening, we will definitely come again.

We enjoyed the hospitality of Arja and Mona and colleagues. A restaurant with old-fashioned hospitality and atmosphere. The kids love it, because the choice is huge. From mixed grill to pizza to the famous Grillerije pot. And we all love the nachos. Highly recommended to visit, as a family, or together without kids. Due to the intimacy in the restaurant, you are not bothered by other guests and you do not notice that it is busy. Wonderful place if you are easily overstimulated. The restaurant's decoration changes regularly, which makes it a pleasure every time to come and enjoy the delicious food!! See you soon.

What a nice entrance into a very nicely decorated restaurant. Reception and service were very friendly. Delicious food!! Plenty of choice and more than enough food on the plate. We didn't have to wait long for our food. We were asked several times if we wanted something to drink, great! The children really enjoyed being able to drink with a long straw + choosing a gift at the end! Had a very positive experience!

Today we had dinner with Pake and Beppe, a beautiful table was set, a friendly welcome from Arja and her team! Also super friendly service during dinner. The Grillerij in Franeker already has a cozy Christmas atmosphere, which immediately creates a warm atmosphere. The food was great, especially the steak, which was cooked perfectly. The hostess was friendly and interested. Definitely recommended!

Nicely decorated, staff also went along with the decoration. We waited more than an hour for our food, which was a long time with a 4-year-old child, the steak was fine, my wife's salmon was unfortunately dry. Reported, nothing done. If you have a gluten allergy, you won't get any sauce with it...it's definitely a defect.

Wat hebben we genoten met zijn vijven. Onze verzorg opa van 91 kon Halloween niet, hij vond het geweldig om te zien hoe het restaurant was omgetoverd in een spookhuis 👻 We hadden een prachtig plekje bij het raam. Het eten was op en top!! Complimenten aan de kok!! Mijn kinderen vonden het fantastisch dat het personeel zo mooi verkleed waren. Al met al alles samen een 10❣️ Tot een volgende keer 🍽️

Alles was in het teken van Halloween, tot het personeel als de menukaart toe. Het eten was heel erg lekker. De bediening was top en heel vriendelijk. Onze puppy was ook welkom en we kregen een rustig plekje voor haar.

In één woord: fantastich. Wij waren met een groep van 9 personen. We hadden voor, hoofd en nagerecht. De ontvangst was zeer vriendelijk en hoffelijk. De bediening was erg aardig, behulpzaam en vlot. De ambiance is geweldig. Het eten was super lekker en mooi opgemaakt. Geen liflafjes maar gewoon lekkere volle porties. Mooi bestek en borden. De werking tussen achter en voor was goed en soepel. Een met wd40 gesmeerde machine zullen we maar zeggen. Iedereen was zeer tevreden en de nachos waren volgens onze nachokenner de lekkerste die ze ooit had gehad. Dit restaurant is een absolute aanrader en de moeite waard om er vanuit de verre omtrek heen te rijden

We had a delicious meal here tonight with 9 men/women. The welcome was very pleasant, kind and courteous at the same time. The decor is beautiful, just like the plates and cutlery. The ambiance is just perfect. The food sublime. Super tasty and nice full portions. Atmosphere and tastefully decorated. Side dish, baked potatoes, fries, stewed pears and twice something salad-like. There were also delicious grilled vegetables on the plates for decoration. I had the lamb. It must be said that I have rarely, if ever, had such delicious lamb. The desserts and starters are also more than worth it. Our nacho lover thought they were the best nachos she has ever had. And the dessert lovers wanted to go back tomorrow for another dessert and I would recommend everyone to follow them, because this restaurant is worth a long drive.

We had dinner here for the first time tonight, we had made a reservation a day in advance, because afterwards we had a performance in the theater 130m away, so that was a great option. What a treat it was to be a guest here. I quote my words here, which I also said to the lady at the counter....Ridiculously Delicious. The ambiance... a place in the fishbowl, the music in the background and the food, because that's what it's all about in the end... everything was just right. A big 10 as far as we are concerned, we will definitely come back here for a good meal, we are happy to drive 60km for that. With a group of 5, everyone had a delicious meal. Cozy restaurant. Good portions but above all very tasty. Fish, meat and vegetarian. It all looked very nice too. More than enough side dishes. We will definitely come back!

Met 6 personen ivm ons 25 jarig jubileum gegeten. Topgerechten die niet te ingewikkeld zijn, fijne brasserie-sfeer, klantbeleving waar de meeste Michelin restaurants nog een puntje aan kunnen zuigen en hele mooie portionering. Vlak voor onze nagerechten kwam de gastvrouw nog langs met vuurwerk en een aantal likeurtjes van het huis en een bord waarop “25 jaar samen” stond geschreven. Erg attent en een fantastische avond gehad. Een absolute toptent die er bovenuit steekt in de Noordwesthoek van Friesland!

We hadden een heerlijk plekje op terras tegen het pand aan. Het eten was erg lekker. Volgens mijn man die de carpaccio vooraf had de lekkerste die hij gegeten had. Was een goed begin dus die een zeer goed vervolg had. Was een gezellige avond met leuke bediening.

Nice ladies in the service. Despite the crowds, very polite and kept an eye on whether everything was as expected. Lovely spot on the canal in the sun. Cozy atmosphere and very tasty food. We had "Croquette sandwiches" (the bread was very tasty country bread), "Pulled Pork Nachos" (with delicious sweet onion and chili sauce) and a "special" on the left top of the menu (Soup of the day or tomato soup, croquette sandwich and carpaccio sandwich). ). The tomato soup was tasty and filling.

Supervriendelijke bediening, gezellige zaak, kei lekker eten voor een eerlijke prijs… Eerst zaten we op het terras, maar dat werd al gauw wat fris: “Geen probleem, u tafeltje binnen is voor u gereserveerd!” Het was helemaal top! We hebben ervan genoten…
