Too bad, it turned out to be the last evening for the staff. It was very messy, tables weren't cleared, long waits, many things were no longer available to order, cold plates of food, the beer keg was empty and couldn't be replaced, and the bill couldn't be printed out or checked. (The card machine did still work though 😉)...

I found the food to be of poor quality; the soup wasn't tasty and the food just wasn't really hot. The service was friendly, though. I also heard that a new owner is moving in; hopefully, it will get better then.

It's a shame there was only enough calf's liver for one person, the tomato soup wasn't good, completely tasteless, and for the second round of 0.0% beer we were also told that it was sold out. All in all, a very bad experience. You don't expect this on a Sunday at 6:00 PM with a reservation. The music was also quite loud.

The atmosphere of the monastery

Our group of friends had already been there, and the ten of us had a wonderful meal. We were sick at the time, and they went last week. The service was excellent, and we had a delicious meal too. Fantastic.

Prices exorbitant, quality poor, staff overwhelmed and arrogant… the owner is a choleric who insults guests. I have truly never seen so much incompetence in a restaurant.

Restaurant de Kraal is a bit dated in terms of decor, and its location outside the city center is far from ideal. However, cyclists and German guests find it easy to find. The menu is good, and the location means they offer competitive prices. The staff is friendly and hardworking. The courtyard is located right next to a gas station, parking lot, and overlooking a main road between Venlo and Germany. It's not exactly romantic, but it is nicely decorated. Overall, a great place for an affordable and high-quality meal.

Unfortunately, I only had coffee, but the service was great and very friendly nonetheless! A lovely Dutch house...really cozy inside; lots of locals; very nice, and I'd love to come back...but with food! 😉 I promise!!!! 👌👌👌

Delicious spareribs. There's so much meat between the ribs that you could eat them with a knife and fork. Never experienced that before. You often have to gnaw to get any meat out.

Delicious wines at reasonable prices. We were there with a social deal, but still had a fantastic three-course dinner! Definitely recommended!

Wir kennen das Lokal schon seit vielen Jahren und kehren dort sehr gerne ein,besonders wenn wir mir dem Rad unterwegs sind. Das Rad kann man so hinstellen, dass man es von der Terrasse sehen kann. Auch wenn wir nur anhalten ,um etwas zu trinken, immer wird man freundlich bedient. Egal ob Snack, Pommes oder Salatteller, alles ist sehr zu empfehlen.

The service was friendly and correct. Unfortunately, the schnitzels and sauces were not good. The schnitzel was fried at too low a temperature, which made the breading layer soggy and above all tasteless. Very unfortunate because the rest was fine. Simple but OK.

De 1ste en meteen de laatste keer! Wij waren met 3 stellen en hebben de 4x sparerib en 3x schnitzel stroganoff besteld. De stroganoff saus was net water met een gelige kleur. In de pan gebakken. De buiten randen waren aangebrand en de rest van het paneermeel was nog wit. Deze hebben we terug gestuurd naar de keuken. Er kwamen 2 nieuwe schnitzels, nu met champignon saus, en 1 van ons een kipspies. Schnitzels wederom hetzelfde gebakken. De kipspies was erg vet, deze is van kippendij gemaakt. De geserveerde groentes zijn uit een diepvries zak. Geen smaak en niet te eten. Spareribs aangebrand en veel vet. Soep, tomatensoep zo dik, daar staat de lepel in rechtop. Goulash soep is goulash bouillon met wat uien en paprika. Er zat bij mijzelf welgeteld 1 blokje vlees in. Wij hebben nog nooit zo'n slecht eten geserveerd gekregen. De schnitzels lijken ook voorgegaard. In ieder geval zonde van onze centen en voor ons komt er geen tweede keer meer!

Dear, in response to your responses to some reviews from our employees, we would like to request a response from the owner. You were not asked for the drinks menu, this is incorrect. Small example, well before closing we ask for dessert and are then told that the chef has already left, so tell your customers a little earlier that dessert is not possible. The general impression was that they just didn't feel like it. But burying your head in the sand will eventually go downhill. Your reaction says a lot, the service was just rubbish, and giving a second chance to a restaurant where you feel like the staff would rather see you go than anything else....no thanks. Erg lekker gegeten. De goulashsoep is een aanrader. Daarna een smakelijke schnitzel, uit de pan! Chocotaartje is heerlijk.

Middels een social deal er gaan eten. Gezellige ambiance. Wat opviel was dat de ‘bordjes’ aanzienlijk kleiner waren dan de normale kaart. Normaal zou je kunnen zeggen, maar hier is de grap van het voordeel ook gelijk weg…! Het eten was redelijk, niet bijzonder. Bediening was redelijk. Jammer van deze kennismaking…

Het eten niet te vreten moet je 22.50 betalen voor een halve varkenshaas met een beetje hard gebakken friet zit geen groente bij nou was voor mij de eerste keer maar ook tevens de laatste keer

We had been offered dinner from work. The food was very disappointing. All place settings were cold and the pork tenderloin was very dry and we were given half a pork tenderloin per person. When we wanted to order dessert we were told that the kitchen was closed. It was impossible to make a few ice creams. When we said something about this, we received the answer: I am not going to discuss that from the ministry. In short, once but never again.

With 11 people. at the table, food was cold, service had to ask several times to inquire about drinks, after speaking to the staff about this, they became grumpy and unfriendly.

Zure tomatensoep (leek meer op tomatensaus) met een sterke paprika smaak. Broodje kip was pittig, dat was ook de enige smaak eraan. Salade was overgoten met olie. Hebben bij bediening tweemaal aangegeven dat o.a de soep niet lekker was (ook bij teruggeven van de soep) maar kwam geen reactie vanuit de bediening of keuken. Zal niet meer terugkomen.

Enjoyed an SD lunch, with wild mushroom soup and hot chicken sandwich. It was all very tasty! Nice place and good staff. Recommended.

Restaurant had vroeger een goeie naam. Om deze reden gereserveerd samen met mijn vriendin om te eens lekker te gaan eten. Tomatensoep mocht de naam soep niet dragen, leek wel tomatenpuree. De uiensoep was ook al niet veel beter. Het hoofdgerecht dan maar. De schnitzel smaakte naar meel en was niet krokant, de zigeunersaus was een of andere zoet zure saus maar had niks met zigeunersaus van doen. De sparerips waren gortdroog en verbrand. Als je er wat van zegt dan wordt gezegd dat de schnitzel niet krokant is omdat ze hem niet doen frituren.????? Wat is dat voor een antwoord? Wat een aanfluiting, nooit maar dan ook nooit meer zien ze me daar terug.

We just had dinner there. It is a beautiful restaurant that was decorated with a lot of love. The food (soup, pork, ice cream) was exceptionally good. Overall, 100% recommended and worth every penny!

via social deal een 3-gangen diner geboekt, echter bij aankomst kregen we te horen, omdat we via social deal hadden gereserveerd we niet alles van het menu konden bestellen, ook niet tegen meerprijs. Dit vonden we zeer vreemd, vooral omdat dit niet stond vermeld bij het aankopen van de deal. Indien we dit hadden geweten waren we niet gegaan, er bleef niet veel keus over. De soep vooraf was wel lekker, helaas zonder bijbehorend brood met kruidenboter. Hoofdgerecht keus erg sumier, toch maar gekozen voor de sparribs, goede ribs, echter weinig/ geen smaak aan. Nagerecht was goed. De totale sfeer in de gelegenheid was flut. een paar tafels met oude stoelen moest het restaurant voorstellen. Ons uitzicht was op het naastgelegen tankstation. Al met al zeer teleurstellend. we komen er zeker niet meer terug.

Nice little restaurant with an outdoor area, very close to the German border. Very nice service, unfortunately the wait for the food was almost an hour, but the restaurant was also quite full. Tomato soup and Twaalf uurtje were recommended, 0.3 liters of Coca Cola cost €3

Ate at De Kraal for the first time in a very long time. This time a 3 course menu with goulash soup and a strogan or schnitzel with fries. For dessert a Dame Blanche. Everything for a reasonable price. Neat and smooth and very friendly service.

What poor service, a fried black bouncer and one that had a suspicious smell and taste. If you say something about it, the owner will come up to you threateningly and tell you that it is not true, because the bouncer was fried in the same pan. This man is completely beyond reason, the service was friendly, but they won't see us here again.

Zeg je er iets van, dan komt de eigenaar dreigend naar je toe en je vertellen dat het waar is, want de uitsmijter is in de zelfde pan gebakken. Came here for dinner via social deal. We waited a long time to be able to park. This was because a delivery was made and the truck was completely in front of the parking lot. (A BMW was parked next to it) We were warmly welcomed inside. Unfortunately there was no soup of the day and we were allowed to choose from the menu. The soup tasted good and so did the 12 o'clock. Very little bread. But it tasted none the less.

Cozy multifunctional location with a long tradition, which has now been given a new meaning. And it is still under development, so come by more often to see how the activities are expanding. Atmospheric entrance. Vintage location with a modern touch. Terrace with beautiful large parasols, colorful flowers and beautiful large plants and planters, which add to the atmosphere. Nice chairs. Lots of parking space. Windbreaks make the patio season extra long. Lunch neatly provided. Friendly service. Prices average. Very suitable for a cup of coffee as well as a complete party and everything in between.

Had dinner with Social Deal. What we were supposed to get was not delivered. Soup without balls and Dame Blanche without hot sauce. Fries were only brought 10 minutes after the meat, because we specifically requested that we had not received anything yet. Complaints were reported to the owner, who did nothing further about it. So it remains a one-time visit for us.

Restaurant located on a quiet provincial road. The interior gives a somewhat old-fashioned impression, but the friendly service and fantastic food immediately make you forget that. Kudos to the gentleman who single-handedly served all the tables and also had time for a chat. Time between courses is long but good.
